>Box office $852.5 million and counting
Has anyone anticipated such enormous success?
I'm really pleased.
It's a well written story, it didn't have a "love conquers all hurrr" message. It was rather adult in most aspects, and was crafted with a lot of love.
Also I fucking LOVE buddy-cop movies, so I couldn't stop myself from seeing it. No fucking way was I going to let this clever little bastard go.
Passion, hardwork and good writing needs to be rewarded I say.
They got so close to churning out 1.0 version it's scary. I mean, it's great to enjoy extra backstory and ponder upon alternatives, but I want my kindness and hope, not soul-crushing boot of despotism repeatedly stamping your face.
Let's hope Finding Dory doesn't immediately wipe this accomplishment from people's minds. I want that Oscar!
To be fair, you cant compare a full flegded film to concept art. We will never know just how depressing the original would have turned out to be. All we know is that it was the team's original passion, based off the blue collar experiments of the 70s, that they continued to develop for three years. That has something about its viablility
the current movie is just a watered down version of that script, plain and simple
Pretty much the entirety of /furry/ had zero faith in this movie from the start. When the first teaser came out everybody knew the uhh, visual implications, but nobody knew how good the movie would actually turn out to be.
Since some folks wanted me to keep 'em up to date in here, the next part's done, and has been put directly in the trash
This movie was not liberal. It teaches you to work for your goals (conservative) and not to judge people based on their first appearance (a message which transcends political idiologies)
It's infuriating I am struggling to find fresh images rather than endlessly report meagre good OC content we have in every thread and cannot draw yet to post something myself.
A liberal would say that not judging people based on their appearance or group is liberal, and working for your goals is a message which transcends political ideologies.
The sides actually agree on almost everything. People just love having enemies.
Think we'll get a scene of Nick breaking down in the sequel?
She probably could - she's fast, strong enough to tunnel through about a meter of frozen ground in a second, and was powerful enough to modify the trajectory of a rhino's punch. She was surprisingly formidable!
there is, but it's already been reported, so you'll get to chill for a bit.
If you want to create OC, leanr to draw - it's much more rewarding and can transform even mediocre story into something unique and beautiful.
Who would be the best focus for the next movie?
>Translation, Gynocentric Propaganda. It would be delicious if the rhino grabbed her and then slammed her repeatedly through a wall til she's completely a bloody mush of a mess.
4th page done. Nick is the cutest to draw, it's his fluffy neck
For Disney it's good, but mostly bad news, first, because they missed the big wave, by not mobbing merchandise, and also because the shareholders, even if they made good money on it, knows Disney cannot predict exactly what they're doing. To not be able to predict success on a labelled B tier or failure, means also they can't predict failure on a labelled blockbusters.
Many shareholders will chicken out and sell around Moana - Coco
I really enjoyed this movie.
But given Wreck-it Ralph and Frozen haven't had sequels yet, and it's been 4 and 3 years since each, I'm guessing there won't be a Zootopia 2.
Kinda makes me wish Pixar or Dreamworks had made it.
We all want what's best for the people, it's just that they both have some really fucking stupid ideas like gun control on the liberal side and opposing drugs and gay marriage on the conservative side.
I dunno, I don't Zootopia really pulled any punches with Judy. She was unsuccessful when she fought back against Gideon, the Polar Bears shut her down instantly, and Nick convincingly chomped down on her neck. She took her lumps!
That pick is based off Taxidermy, is Nick dead?
Fluffy neck is best neck. I wanna bury my face in it.
raaaa, why did you post it
>Meh western civilization, they can watch torture fests, but ONLY if it happens to men. Show a twat getting lightly tapped on the head?
>I have literally never seen a slasher film or a rape/revenge film
So I'm kind of new in these threads (only just saw the movie), but the last couple I've been in seem light on fanart compared to other shows and movies discussed on /co/.
Is there a reason?
Like half the thread is fanart, bro. We even have toptier drawfags here.
Well we could show a lot more but most has already been shared, so we would only be seeing the same images again. For this reason people are only really sharing new stuff to keep it fresh.
On the topic of fanart, I haven't seen this one in a while.
Dreamworks really isn't any faster with sequels.
KFP 1: 2008
KFP 2: 2011
KFP 3: 2016
>tfw KFP 4 probably won't come out until 2019 at the very earliest
Why not? It's been a great series so far, and one of the directors said that there's "six chapters" to the story. (although they never explicitly said there'd be six movies)
For the anons wishing to learn how to draw. I'm still going through "right side of the brain" book and am amazed how many details I started noticing everywhere.
>carries the fox spray for 2/3s of the movie
>after Nick walks out she never carries it again
Ugh, finally finished this comic, hopefully this can tide you guys over for awhile as far as these two characters go lol. Even though I enjoy drawing them, unless I make the style even sketchier this one still took awhile. Maybe I'll have to downgrade a bit even more if I want to produce these a bit more frequently.
Also I didn't even check to see if I spelled Savannah right soooo.
I'm not the drawfag, genius. I was reposting something from last night. The drawfag who drew it apparently posted it from his phone, and I forgot that I could turn it upright myself.
>literally just regular old anthros
You do you like you feel you should do you best. No need to crank them out daily or something.
Daily Zootopia and Alestorm makes me very comfy.
Drew pic related some time two weeks ago in a thread.
>that embarrassed backpedalling
>pred and prey
Hey now, my conscience is clear, it doesn't count because it was requested...
or maybe it does, who knows
I like drawing zoot style characters because it's really good practice for pushing extreme expressions and seeing how far you can go with charicature. It's fun exercise, I just need to maybe spend a bit less time and effort on each piece since they're only really exercises.
I am filthy predophile apologist but I don't care!
You could have protected that smile...
Some barriers are meant to be crossed, especially when they look so cute doing so.
"Regular old anthros" would just be human bodies with a snout. Zootopia characters are essentially bipedal versions of their "real" animal form. It a difference that makes them look a lot less uncanny.
>They got so close to churning out 1.0 version it's scary.
I don't think so actually. I really think Disney put its foot down on Zootopia 1.0, or would've if the team didn't rewrite it. There's no way they would've let a movie like that exist under the Disney brand.
I did. There's a shitload of furries looking for a movie to call their own. I'm sure they appreciate it.
Good job for disney pouncing on it first.
Also, it's a movie about crack cocaine.
>thought Ingrid was Best Girl on My Gym Partner's a Monkey
>Puzzle has been Grade A fapbait for years
>now this meter maid
Fucking giraffes, man.
Why is their such little fanart of Best Sheep?
Fuck, I forgot about that show. Ingrid got shit on so much but she did nothing wrong.
Byron's style seems very familiar for some reason. Calvin and Hobbes maybe? I'm getting that vibe from the proportions and hands. also the sketchiness.
>Nick's switch to secondary protagonist cut down almost all of Finnick's screen time
is there any good Zootopia cosplay?
pic not related.
Maybe I just want to see the cute giraffes get the love they're after for once.
honestly, I don't think sigh of a human would cause anything but terror - a hairless, tall abomination with disfigured face and tentacle-like appendages at the end of the arm.
I bet humans for zootopians would look much more gross than this bald breed of cats for us.
>People are actually benefiting from my post
This must be what Robin Williams felt like in Good Will Hunting!
A lot of people
especially on /ic/will tell you the best place to start is with Loomis, but I feel like he really doesn't go into the psychology of drawing from sight, which is fine if you already understand it, but you can still get lost pretty quick if you don't already have a slight handle on it. Andrew Loomis really is the best book for learning, but it's not quite the best start. Drawing From the Right Side of the Brain will always be my go to suggestion for new artists.
O M GOODNESS SHE'S ADORABLE
>tfw having to wad through a folder of 800+ images in order to find that one fanart for the purposes of reposting
really need to start sorting my zootopia folder
oh definitely, but since he's a cop now he cant associate with his criminal pals anymore
Nick's tired, I'm tired, bluh
I wish I was home so I could take some requests
Omg Judy's face in that's adorable!!!
Then just post your favorite non-lewd picture
Rich said that, but theres no reason it has to be canon
small details like that will ultimately be decided when they write a new script
>That episode where they have to go undercover to a prison in order find out who the mastermind of string of bombings.
>they are forced to play nice with Bellwether who is leader of a prison gang
If I had to delete all but one, this one would stay.
I don't think this is in the regulations when patrolling tundra town
Do you think Byron is already pitching ideas for a sequel?
>Judy can carry Nick with ease
Can't read the runes, but Bing and Google are saying Toshio Suzuki, the Studio Ghibli producer, saw Zootopia and was so impressed that he ran over to inform Hayao Miyazaki that it was cool. And this was a newsworthy event so Yahoo News wrote about it.
>Miyazaki fucking endorses Zootopia before it's official release in Japan.
>FUCKING FLOODS THE THEATER.
>Zootopia could possibly Star Wars, Toy Story, and The Dark Knight
god damn, dont you fucking fail us Japan
Miyazaki got into filmmaking because he felt there weren't enough movies with female leads. And the ones that did have female leads were usually love stories. So yeah, I think he'd like Zootopia.
Didney obviously did, they put ALL of their vast marketing weight behind this.
It's actually the first time I've stopped hearing about Frozen since it came out.
> Tfw furry knows it can always bank on the furry dollar.
Guys, I'm crying right now.
Just looking at Judy makes me feel something strange inside. I guess you could call it "love". I'm in love with Judy Hopps. I've lost interest in all rabbits, besides her.
Judy Hopps really is all I think about all day, every day. I really do cry myself to sleep at night thinking about how I'll never be with her. If only she knew I existed in this multiverse, if only she knew my deep profound love for her. I know that will never happen though. That is the thought that makes me so sad when I look at her. I'll never be with her, but I'll continue to love her until the day I die.
Poor Weaselton. He's a qt but he'd be even cuter if the world wasn't so hard on him.
He's probably never been hugged or had someone tell him they love him.
Can we stop making shitty copypastas?
This joke has been made a gorillion times.
I still love it
You really need to draw more Nick and Judy, Chumpy. You've got them down good. Especially Judy, she looks different from all the animu-style Judys while still looking like a rabbit.
Only because the world has hardened him.
>Zootopia has the Studio Ghibli seal of approval
>Zootopia might also have the Miyazaki seal of approval
Get ready for it to dominate Japan, people.
Yes, yes it will. Japan is about to eat this up.
>There are people in this thread RIGHT NOW who unironically think Nick is better than Judy
>inb4 the movie bombs because Japan finds some bullshit reason to hate on a female VA
> Not wanting to fuck both
You are the true pleb in here.
Miyazaki dashes out of retirement house, runs back into the boarded-up Ghibli offices, "EVERYONE! I'VE HAD AN INSPIRATION!"
That was unique to Pacific Rim. That actress tried to get the rewards without playing the BS Japanese press game. Disney's not dumb enough to hire a VA that their market doesn't like.
That said, this is probably also that seiyuu's dream job. I don't know if it's possible to get a better job than as the main character of a Disney movie.
>he was the first character revealed after Nick and Judy
>he was probably as important as Judy at some point
>ended up as a plot device with 2 lines
Fuck you Judy, it's all your fault.
I'm taking a break from Zootopia threads for a month now. Just checked in here when I saw the box office earnings in OP. I'll probably be back on the 23rd and expect tons of Japanese fanart. Damn, seems like Nick is a fan favorite already. Good.
>mfw the TV show will probably look something like this
>mfw little yellow faggots fucking around for an hour gets more money than zootopia
Be glad he didn't suffer the fate of Honey and that he still managed to appear in the movie.
After 20 years of watching animu, I still can't speak it, but I can get the gist of things.
>Sequels in general are cancer
unnecessary sequels to media that repeats the plot of the first movie are cancer
sequels that use the world theyve created to tell new and creative stories, as well as expanding on what we know about the characters and give them a greater resolution, are always welcome
A fair amount of people here don't care for toy story 3.
Personally I admit I think its the weakest of the 3, though I still liked it enough
Well there was a female badger. I assume if Honey got modelled at all, her model was recycled for the badger scientist.
Sequels are only cancer when they're not needed or just repeat the same plot.
Zootopia has the advantage of a wide world where you could tell many different stories not just focused on Nick and Judy
Admittingly they probably will focus on Nick and Judy since they are a very large part of the draw of the movie.
But even so theres still plenty of stories they could tell with the two. They could either just focus on different cases they get or follow them as they get older, or any number of things.
No, Clawhauser's VA is shown here. For some reason, these are the only four with pictures so far on the official Disney.jp cast page.
I think the guy in the back is Flash.
Well I think he'd appreciate the work that went into the movie too. I seem to remember one of his complaints about Japanese animation was that they don't really pay attention to real life when doing their art. They just pay attention to other animation.
But for this, Disney went and watched a bunch of animals to see what they look like, how they move, try to make it feel real to life.
That more than anyhting is something I think Miyazaki would get behind.
>tfw there's an entire part of "The Illusion of Life" that talks about romance between animal characters.
>tfw Disney's been at this game longer than we've been alive.
Well of course. They better tell the story about how they decide to become a couple even if they wont have children of their own or get weird looks by society.
The lgbt people would love thst.
>not his adorable forehead between his eyes, having it dribble down his snout onto his nose
>wanting to fuck the animal people
I KNOW I CAN SHOOT YOU FUCKERS
Is zootopia the only city in the world? Or just the one with the greatest variety of species in their population?
Somewhere out there must be cities full of canines or felines or lagomorphs.
>or get weird looks by society.
Byrone said Zootopia is accepting of interspecies couples. It's zoothousand and sixteen after all. You fanfic writers will need to get another source for your melodrama shlock.
Personally I wouldn't mind a saga of movies that follows them as years pass for them.
But that doesn't seem very Disney at all. Wouldn't necessarily work well as a kid's series.
But thats still what I want.
Zootopia already told the story the setting was designed for. No need to milk it to tell generic buddy cop movies with animal puns.
Are you implying they're not? If you want to tell a good story, create characters and a world tailored to that story. Don't try to cram existing ones into something they were never meant to be.
The last thing we need more of in Hollywood is recycling existing IPs.
You made me had the disguisting thought of all the possible interspecies relations that could happen.
Well what if there's a fringe group that sees intersepecies unions as heresy? And nick and judy have to go fuck them up.
Now I am picturing a scene where the ZPD is fighting a group of thugs and in the middle of the battle Nick and Judy ask chief Bogo to marry them right there. Like in the battle scene of the third Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Also owned by disney.
It's still pretty early, even though I've seen cosplay fags churn out shit when the trailer just came out.
It's a mix of good and bad, but I'm hopeful.
Come by cgl any time :^)
>all the possible interspecies relations
>Now I am picturing a scene where the ZPD is fighting a group of thugs and in the middle of the battle Nick and Judy ask chief Bogo to marry them right there. Like in the battle scene of the third Pirates of the Caribbean movie.
Cheesy and we'll never see it but still cute.
>Lion and a Mouse
>The Lion is a meek timid nerd
>The Mouse is a macho tough guy greaser
Less than 5% sequels are as good as the original, and 90% are downright bad.
Media is already starving for original movies in the first place. All this "SEQUEL WHEN?" shit just encourages this.
Better, bit its still missing something.
We already got a jaguar and a giraffe from these threads. It's gonna be a good good time from here on out.
This one will always be my treasure
>This is still up
DONT CALL US CUTE THATS OUR WORD AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Fuck off. At least pic related isn't full of self-hate and repeating the same shit.
>shove pawpsicle in her mouth while she's yelling
I would honestly be cool with learning about the rest of their world. It's be kind of neat seeing various towns and communities with its own personalities.
[spoilers]so long as we don't become mlp[/spoilers]
