Are lightsabers supposed to canonically look like the ones in Rebels? I know the original art had them as actual sabers, but the movies had them as glowing sticks because of technical limitations at the time.

Which is the true portrayal?

I know people aren't going to agree with me here, but we're SUPPOSED to hate those cyborg fuckers. It's the Vader comic, he is the protagonist. When he says "This is BLASPHEMOUS!", that's what we as the audience are supposed to think too.

Then we cheer when Vader guts him like the fish he is.

He doesn't cry to Vader's helmet. He is asking for his help, like some religious fanatic. How could anyone interpret that as "crying"?

I think the only problem people have with Kylo is that he's not the classic badass Star Wars villain, but insecure and... more like an actual human. I mean contrast him with Darth Maul who looks cool but didn't have any personality or an own character arc. People still loved him, just for looking cool. Same with Boba Fett, Grievous etc...
Kylo is great because he's more realistic. You can sympathize with him and hate him at the same time. Also, his actor is fucking based.

Soundtracks upload is at 91%. 59 tracks left.

By the way, there are three tracks that had trouble when initially uploading and were temporarily skipped, but won't upload until the others do because of how MEGA's uploading works. So if you've downloaded any of the soundtracks yet, make sure to check back when the upload is complete to grab them.

They're

07 - The Falcon from the TFA Soundtrack

Star Wars And The Revenge of the Sith from the RotS soundtrack

1-30 Under Arrest from the Extended Edition RotS soundtrack

23 - Darth Sidious and Darth Maul from the TPM Ultimate Edition Soundtrack

>>
So how "official" is the novelization? Is it based on a script draft? Because it answers a lot of things people have been wondering lately.

>Rey appears to reciprocate Finn's feelings, but also meets Poe and displays some attraction to him.

>Finn has channeling the Force during his duel with Kylo.

>Phasma survives.

>Kylo knows Darth Vader turned to the Light in his final moments and killed the Emperor, but Snoke has manipulated him into believing that was a shameful lapse of judgement on Vader's part.
>>
>>78364063
Guess if you're building a terror weapon you take the time and effort to engineer it so everyone can watch the effect. Makes sense.

Still comes off as cheap directing. JJ did the same thing with Old Spoke in Nu Trek watching Vulcan explode as if he were orbiting it. He wants the impact explicit even if it shouldn't be possible.

Movie adaptations are pretty much the only thing on a "lower tier" of canon. It's like old school EU rules, they're canon until contradicted.

But it's honestly just a subtle way of saying "not canon, just watch the fucking movie"

However I can say that it's already confirmed that Phasma survives, so that holds true.

The TFA Novelization is canon where it's not contradicted by the movie. Omission also =/= contradiction.

The previous 6 novelizations are noncanon, though.

>>78364649
Isn't that the point of the Force? Everybody has it but only some are sensitive to it.
>>
>>78364654
Abrams also confirmed that the bit about Vader's redemption is true, too.

Honestly, I do believe Rey/Finn/Poe triangle will happen and Finn will have Force-sensitivity to a certain degree, it just feels Abrams' decided to leave that stuff unspoken, in the backburner, and leave it to Johnson to explore it based on audience feedback.

March of the Resistance is good, but Torn Apart and Rey's Theme feel more iconic to me. The motif/overture throughout the score that is clearly meant to be Kylo Ren's theme (despite no specific piece called that) is fucking amazing and gets my vote though.
>>
Grabbed KOTOR on Steam sale, any rec'd mods?

>>78364767
All the films have several stand out tracks.

TFA's main stand out track is Rey's Theme, buut there's plenty of other memorable ones too.

>>78364803
Give the soundtrack a listen once everything is uploaded to the MEGA in a few hours. All of TFA except for Track 7 should be uploaded. I'm also gonna upload the "For Your Consideration" soundtrack they released yesterday.
>>
>>78364767

Everything from TFA is waaaaaaay lower than the other six movies but if anything I'd give it to Torn Apart. Rey's theme starts out good but kinda loses it in a bland orchestrated mess in the middle.

Probably one of my favorite parts was making the imperial army not just more of a character but also a more threatening presence.
>>
>>78364980

My favorite part is that he had a gun and threw it. Like it's legitimately a personal vendetta and he wanted to inflict pain on Finn.

>Attack of the Clones: Love theme

Goddamn the score to Attack of the Clones is beautiful. Some of Williams' best work.
>>
>>78364969
There was nothing whiny about him. It's just that unlike Vader, while consumed with rage, he can't bring himself to kill the people serving under him so he just smashes shit instead.

>>
Rey defeating Kylo just doesn't make sense.
Trusting in the force doesn't work like that.

If Luke decided to run up and fight Vader after watching Obi-Wan die, would trusting in the force have allowed him to beat Vader?
No, because it doesn't work like that.

>tfw my casual friends enjoyed the movie
>tfw I didn't
Help me learn to like the movie guys. There were no parts I liked/loved other than hearing the screaming younglings from episode 3 when Rey was searching Maz's place.
>>
>>78364980

Feels weird seeing a lightsaber used like that. I like it.
>>
>>78365022
The First Order are indoctrinated and raised like a cult, as if they are family. Finn turning on them and killing so many of them, I am sure some of the hardcore FO Troopers did feel it was a personal betrayal.
>>
>>78365076

No but remember that the bowcaster was launching people with explosive force when it hit. Kylo took one of those to the gut.

He's also very much in the same position as Vader was as in he has some kind of attachment to Rey and is holding back because he doesn't want to kill her.
>>
>>78364619

>Help me learn to like the movie guys.

Grow a cunt, fuck.
>>
>>78365076
>just doesn't make sense.
He was hit with a bowcaster, had his arm cut by Finn, and emotionally was still shaken up from killing Han. Everything was against him.
>>
>>78365076
Kylo had a fucking blaster hole in his chest and Finn wounded his arm among other things.
>>
>>78365076
Well it depends on what Rey is first. There could be a reason for it all.

Also, why wouldn't trusting in the Force work like that. We know Luke would have gotten his shit stomped in because Vader's a clear at mind full Sith Lord who cut down someone who he at this point relished in killing. Ren on the other hand is a conflicted fucktard who hasn't even completed his training and is too doubtful in himself to keep a clear head after killing his father
>>
>>78365126
Well yeah, that too

>>78365147
They work only because they showed how other people respond to them. If it was just Ren raging alone in a room or if it showed his subordinates clearly freaking out, maybe, but both times the people are clearly used to this happening which speaks a lot about his character

POTTERY CONFIRMED .
>>
>>78365222
That's entirely possible. She's definitely skilled in combat based on her staff work. Still linking with the Force as Rey did and gaining ability from it has always been part of Star Wars. You don't need training to link with the Force like that. You DO need training to do so consistently. Luke found that out in the comics. Just because he linked with the Force to take down the Death Star and sort of managed Boba Fett while blind didn't help him later when he was thrown into an arena.

Untrained, using the Force is something of a reflex action. It's not something you can rely on, or even consciously use, not with 100% certainty.
>>
>>78365027

Which was refreshing because while Sith he doesn't kill indiscriminately, which makes his rage seem more frightening in my opinion when it slips out of control. It's just constantly building and building without murder as an outlet.

Ben just took a bowcaster shot to the rib area.
This bowcaster was literally throwing fuckers around the whole move, they even put a lot of focus on it.

He was winning until she went 'lolforce'.

It also seemed like Rey had access to the Force even before her incident at Maz's castle. She seemed to have brief flashes or moments where she made a connection with others. Like when she was first washing off her scrap and she looked at that woman.

It's entirely possible Rey was training, preliminarily anyway, and already knows the Jedi aren't a myth. But she was dumped on Jakku and as kids can sometimes do (especially after traumatic events, like if she was witness to the massacre of Luke's order) she could have shut herself off from those memories. Blocked them off completely so she won't remember even as an adult.

Still that's only speculation. Obviously.

Dude does all kinds of shit he has zero training in flawlessly, ie shooting down tie fighters, swinging a light saber, just like Luke.

Midichlorians just build around force hot-spots.

If you train hard enough, in theory, more midichlorians would flock to you, as you get stronger in the force.

Anakin only had a bunch of midichlorians because he was the chosen one, and its implied he was created partially by the force vis sheev/plageuis

The midichlorians are just a convenient method for jedi to find force sensatives, theyre not actually a measurement of power levels or whatever.

To get a better understanding, watch the final 3 episodes of TCW.
>>

I wasn't even aware she had one. I guess when it came to the music I was mostly listening in the hope that they wouldn't spam OT themes (which thankfully they didn't). KOTOR 1/2, or both?

KOTOR doesn't support modern widescreen resolutions so you will need a widescreen patch. Try this out:
https://www.flawlesswidescreen.org/

If playing KOTOR 2, it is mandatory to download The Restored Content Mod. It fixes the entire game, and adds some unfinished content.

I also advise against using M4-78 in KOTOR 2. It's the modder's attempt in creating an unfinished planet in the game. Personal opinion: It's awful. The pacing is awful, the dialogue is awful, the optimization is awful. If your curious, do it on a second playthrough, avoid it on your first.

Truth is, the KOTOR Subreddit is a great source for mod guides.

Yeah, it's what defines a fictional universe and keeps everything in check and balance.
Why the fuck does everyone make a big deal about it?
If something is no longer canon, grow the fuck up, it's not your decision to make.

What they use does not matter. To me the importance of canon and a single continuity means closing doors on theories. Saw someone theorize that Poe is Luke's son due to piloting skill, but it's impossible given the recent comics.

Also stories should stand on their own anyway. Filoni is right when he says Rebels and Rogue One shouldn't be bothered to interact, it causes needless restrictions.

See, my brain doesn't operate like this.

I take the movies for what they are, with only other movies being canon to them, then I take the serieses being their alternate expanded universe including the movies and then I take the books and comics as a third alternate expanded universe including all of the above.
I call it the "not taking a shitty companies' word for it and taking it as it actually is"-canon.

It also comes with the benefit of me being able to just appreciate Gillen just having ridiculous fun with writing his Vader comic, while not getting mad that every movie is ruined forever because the murderbots are just an obvious jab at the movie.

Just got back from the theatre.
It was good.

But there was just one thing that stuck out.
Rey was a Mary Sue.
I've heard people say it, and I didn't give it much credence due to the word being tossed around so much.
It's true though.

Rey is
>immediately liked by everyone she meets
>speaks Bocce, the binary language of droids
>immediately is on board with saving the Resistance
>speaks Wookie despite being on Jakku her whole life
>flies the Falcon for the first time and does so perfectly
>is better at repairing the Falcon than Han
>is more powerful than Kylo, despite being aware that she's Force sensitive for all of a day

It was a bit much.

That's because Finn is the backbone of the movie. He is the catalyst that gets the plot going and keeps the events of the story grounded. His character has to wear alot of hats and so has to be more like an actual person have positives and flaws.

Because Finn is there to do all of that, Rey is given to space to simply be the cool but shallow action hero. They both play their parts.

This is the one thing that still bothers me. She's absolutely a mary sue but I can find some way to explain her being a good mechanic or knowing how to fly.

But going by how much they were offering for BB-8 droids aren't exactly common on Jakku and when the fuck would she have learned to speak Wookie? Nobody knows how to speak Wookie. Han only understood Chewie because it was his best friend.

An interesting thing, regarding the fight between Rey and Kylo, and why it turned out the way it did: There's all lot of fan-theory of why Kylo was beating on his wound. Let's say, he was trying to get himself angry, to fill on the hate, and to embrace the Dark Side. It doesn't work, he still loses to Rey, because at his core he is Light, and he's weak in the Dark Side. Add that to the bow caster wound, and the Force clearly picking a side, Kylo was going to lose.
>>

No, because the Enterprise gets fucked over in every new film

By the Beyond trailer it looks to be no different this time

Kylo Ren is that kid who listened to Linkin Park obsessively and wore thick leather trenchcoats to school.

>>78366525
Calling something a general usually brings bad stuff, and we're technically not even allowed to talk of other stuff that is not comics or cartoons, but since we are very contained and overall well behaved in the threads the mods turn a blind eye to us
>>
>>78366557
It's actually not a stretch for her to be a good mechanic if you paid attention.
She's been on Jakku since childhood and has a lot of experience scavenging from the various starships around. She would know all the ins and outs by the time of the movie.

As for being a good pilot, that's explained more in supplementary materials, such as her speeder (which she built) having the height limit of an airspeeder when unloaded and her flying around with it on occasions. She also rebuilt a ship, but sold it rather than use it to leave. Kind of shows how it was just her commitment to stay and wait that kept her on Jakku.

>>78366653
How would you rank someone like the Grand Inquisitor?
>>
>>78366681
Really? How old is he supposed to be? I was under the impression he was barely 20 yet. He got across 'young school shooter' damn fine.

Star Wars has been comic and cartoon related for decades. Plenty of live action shows have threads on here.

Don't be retarded.

We do it to circumvent some trolls, like I said. Last time we called it "Star Wars General" the thread was nothing but shitposting.
>>
>>78364425
I can't be the only one who thinks Kylo Ren's real face is ugly as hell and makes him look like a young Severus Snape

Because of this, when I exited the theater and walked past the line waiting for the next showing I yelled "SNAPE KILLS DUMBLEDOOR"

UK Comics are canon, if that's what you're asking.

Korean webcomic is in a grey area right now.

Yeah, it's impossible to have a decent discussion of Star Wars on /tv/

I wouldn't. I come from /tg/ and decided to have a brief look after I saw Star Wars last night, and that one argument keeps annoying the hell out of me when it seemed dumb obvious in the movie.

>but up until Empire Luke was a Mary Sue too

I read some feminist article that purported this bullshit too.

Luke's a bumbling tard that has to get saved by everyone else up until the trench run.

You literally don't know what a mary sue is if you think Luke qualifies at all.
>>
>>78366746
He whines and acts like a kid in that he's extremely emotionally uncontrolled and conflicted. I mean it as praise, he did it well to get across him as a dangerous lunatic living weapon, because at any moment he could lose his shit over his cookies and milk and start sawing apart $80,000 credits worth of hardware.

The guide description of her speeder (that she built herself) also says without any cargo loading it down it can fly decently high.

A level 3. Weak in the Force to begin with and purposefully limited training. The other two Inquisitors are probably level 2, but far weaker than Rey with no potential for upward advancement.

Popular rumor is Snoke isn't a giant at all, and perhaps even smaller than the average person. Just using the hologram's size to compensate for it.

Though it would be pretty cool if he actually was giant.

It would still be some other droid's arm, just painted gold. It has to be his own arm to count.
