I don't think that's what happens. In the shot with Rhodey on the ground his arc reactor is torn out. In another shot in the same trailer Bucky can be seen attempting to grab Tony's arc reactor.

I wouldn't want Hawk to die, even more so now that he's slowly turning into Hawkguy
