More than PD not being on the mural, the sheer lack of Pink Diamond in anything we've seen is more of why I still don't think it's as simple as "Rose killed Pink Diamond"

Literally the only signs of her existance we've seen are the old symbol and pearl's spacesuit and some people say those damn statues, but I still think those are too circumstantial.
But the other diamonds we've seen have had the new symbol, the mural, the outright name mention of YD, those statues again, signs of blue and yellow diamond loyal gems, etc.

Frankly, it looks like she's been erased on both ends, homeworld and earth. That's why it seems like there's something more.

Corrupted monsters are both screwed in the gem, and they're overflowing with some kind of energy that allows those monsterous forms to remain stable.
Amethyst clearly still had control and choice in her reforming, even at the monster point, but she couldn't hold it because it was unsustainable.

They're clearly different situations.

Their gems are fine, but they have a huge excess of energy and they are clearly forced into these large monster forms upon reforming.
That makes it seem more like something affecting the "mind" inside the gem. It's not just "they reformed too fast" otherwise a reboot via poofing and keeping them closed off should give the time to regather sentience, like it seemed to do with Peedle here.
But she still had a monster form. She just had her wits about her instead of raging about like before.

Also, there's no way there wasn't some outside influence to cause the corruption considering how there's SO MANY of them. Like, 5000 years worth, worldwide.

Seriously I don't get why so few people seem to grasp that Rose Quartz being a Quartz and Rose Quartz being "Pink Diamond" aren't mutually exclusive. It's always seemed pretty obvious to me - if the other Diamonds gave such and important leadership position to a non-Diamond do you think they'd admit they were giving a leadership position to a non-Diamond? I could be wrong, I'm not really too concerned about the specifics of this whole theory considering how little we actually know, I'm more just surprised I never see anyone else guess at what seems to be a pretty obvious work around to this whole "problem"

The pyramid was powered by the gem, but unlike Lapis' prison, the Gem wasn't held there by some crazy magical force. It just smiled and released itself when it saw Steven (or more likely felt Rose's gem).

If it was really modern, it could have come during Steven's lifetime, explaining why Rose never dealt with it and why it was Steven's first serious mission.
And it'd also explain YD's sudden increase in interest in the Cluster shit since there's now just Blue Diamond in her way of total rule of Gemkind.

Anyone on /co/ would know about the differences between shows, but this is about cultural perception. And the term "cartoon" is cemented in the public conscious as Tom & Jerry, Bugs Bunny, Donald Duck etc.

Like most words describing media this has no set definition you can really point to, but "is an animated video format" is certainly not sufficient to call something cartoony by definition.
