>Star Wars Soundtracks MEGA (Work-in-Progress):
It had some good stuff amongst the quieter themes, but no real oomph like the Imperial March or Duel of the Fates or whatnot. Hopefully that steps up again in VIII.
Though I want to know why we didn't get the bitching version of the Skywalker theme used in the final trailer, that shit would have been on point blaring over the final action sequences in the darkness.
Is it even in the OST or do we not get a full version of it even still?
Reposting from the last thread:
I've listened to the OST a bunch today, and it's definitely lacking iconic themes like all of his other Star Wars soundtracks, but it's still good. Torn Apart is my personal favorite track, it's very good and reminiscent of "Anakin's Dark Deeds" while also feeling different and new. I really hope he does the rest of the trilogy though, he's still the best there is and I believe he still has at least one more "Imperial March" tier piece left in him.
Read pic related. Especially if you're a fan of TCW.
How could she be? She's like 20-21 years old, Obi-Wan died an old man probably about 15 years before she was born, and never had a family because the only woman he ever loved died during the Clone Wars.
Not only do we, the audience, not know anything about Obi-Wan's family or whether he had any siblings and could have potentially nieces/grand-nieces, but Obi-Wan himself didn't even know his own family because he was taken to the Jedi as an infant. It really wouldn't work or make sense, sorry. I personally don't think she's Luke's daughter either, but that's because now that I'm proven right that Kylo is basically Jacen Solo 2.0, I don't think there's a chance in hell they're going to resist having her be his sister. That poetry is too strong.
And you can condense most any two movies down to a shortlist of basic elements that makes it seem like they're identical.
I'm not saying that this movie didn't purposefully strike a ton of nostalgic chords. It's clear they were trying their damndest to keep this as close to the original trilogy as possible.
And I'm fine with it. If anybody's not okay with that, George Lucas made them a trilogy not too long ago that's thematically different enough they should be enjoy it.
Does this shot bug anyone else? I can't unsee the dent in R2 in this scene.
>And I'm fine with it. If anybody's not okay with that, George Lucas made them a trilogy not too long ago that's thematically different enough they should be enjoy it.
Not really, because the prequels weren't good films either. I want something that's both new and good, not just new and bad, or unoriginal and good.
I really hope she isn't related to anyone we know.
Fucking inbreed galaxy.
> People of the galaxy start to get rid of any important personality relatives to prevent future troubles.
> That's why the jedi order demanded celibacy.
>post YFW in Episode VIII
>"Grandfather, I was tempted by the light when I saw my father,
>but one thing kept me on the true, dark path...
...the memory of how coarse and irritating the sand on Jakku was"
There's lots of other movies out there you can go and watch, since you don't seem to like Star Wars.
And in any case, I'm sure the next one will be more than just a retreading of empire strikes back.
Your only other option is to watch your bombad prequels, okee day?
>has a force vision flashing back to her childhood being left on Jakku by her family after touching Anakin's Lightsaber
>Kylo Ren and his fellow Knights killing the Jedi are also seen in this same vision
>thinking she's not somehow related to Vader after that
Come on anon....
So whats the general opinion on the true badass of the movie?
every X-Wing scene was down beautifully
>that first person scene inside of the X-Wing cockpit
That was the hypest shit, exactly how I always feel playing Rogue Squadron or flying fighters in the new Battlefront. Poe NEEDS to be a more central character in the rest of the trilogy though, he's really cool and has a great dynamic with Finn.
judging from the prievous thread? everyone believes he should hook up with Phasma in the afterlife
We should give him a nickname, he has the potential to become almost like a new Sixes.
>implying the Republic is any better for destroying a planet sized base with millions of First Order citizens
They bent over backwards to recapture everything that made the original trilogy so good, and you're sitting here bitching about how it's "not original."
You said yourself it was fucking good. You're in a wasteland dying of thirst and when someone gives you a bottle of water and saves your life you tell em you don't like Dasani.
>They bent over backwards to recapture everything that made the original trilogy so good,
That's the problem. If I wanted to see the originals I would watch it on laser disc. Not pay 20 to see a worse version
>stromtroopers are brainwashed
>the rest is like Hux at worst, idolizing what their parents told them was a better time
I still hope it'll end with Hux deciding force users universally suck and staging a coup with Phasma clones or whatever. Especially if Snoke will keep forgiving Kylo for being a fuckup.
People are usually too afraid to say their own damn opinion due to the fact that it's Star Wars and they don't want to look like the party-pooper in the time that this was supposed to be the 'Great Resurgence' of Star Wars cinema and are willing to nod and wave with the crowd so as not to be singled out and be called contrarians.
Not me, this movie was pretty damn disappointing and I give it about a 5/10, it was meh.
Could be anyone related to the academy shooting. Any relative of any student, or any force sensitive kids brought there then taken away for safety.
Or just her connecting to force and seeing a vision of her most traumatic experience and a vision of the threat she will have to face.
Definitely not dead, embarrassed as fuck, but obviously made it out. They didn't show Kylo Ren or Hux escape either, but we can very plainly surmise they and many of the First Order personnel did manage to escape simply because that's how it works with villains and not specifically showing them die. And there wouldn't be much of a trilogy left to make if that were the case.
"[Lucasfilm President Kathleen] Kennedy has big plans for Phasma and confirmed that the captain will carry on into the next movie. “She’s an important character, a baddie in the best sense of the word.”"
-via LA Times
>actually funny jokes
>catchy and endearing characters
>exciting action scenes despite the somewhat unwarranted resolution to the Rey/Kylo duel
>BUT IT REHASHES PLOT POINTS, SHIT SUCKS
I think playing it overly safe and basically doing a future remake of ANH is still a big flaw, though.
I hold trying new things pretty highly, though. Something I actually like about the prequel universe (not the prequels which are trash) is that they do a good job of making it feel like a vastly different era.
This is what, 20 years later but it's just trying way too hard to be a new hope remastered
The pacing was terrible, scenes were barely set up before we moved to the next one, the setting was horribly explained, most of the word building was done via supplemental material unlike the movie they're ripping off, ANH, which did a bang up job with the world building, despite an entire star system being lost, along with hundreds of billions of lives and the fucking Senate nobody seems to give a shit, not even Leia, who can particularly relate to such a tragedy, and finally, Rey is, for lack of a better term, a Mary Sue, she uses abilities she was completely untrained for, like being an excellent pilot for a ship she's never flown before, or being highly proficient with the Force despite not receiving any previous training.
>He's obviously from Alderaan
Was thinking that too. I wonder if Alderanian survivors will be a plot point of the period between RoTJ and TFA. I hope the fact the blow up other planets become a plot point for the next stories.
This is gonna sound stupid, but wouldn't it be cool if in Episode 8 there would be a scene where a guy actually grabs the blade of a Lightsaber and doesn't get hurt? Like some big fucker who is getting attacked by Rey and he just grabs the saber like "No".
Does there exist a PDF/CBR of the Ultimate Star Wars book that came out this year? The giant 300+page book that was the updated canon version pictured here?
Like 300 years I think. But that was only ever stated in the EU, so I don't actually know.
God tier character, my favorite by far and really powerfully acted, but he did plenty of things wrong. And that's why he's so interesting.
>ignores the problems with pacing
>ignores the problems with the setting
>acts like the movie rehashing plot points is a small thing and not one of the most important things factoring into whether the movie was good or bad
TFA was pretty good but come on now. You guys are doing the thing you always do where if someone gives off any little hint that they don't like something in Star Wars you call them a shitposter because you have absolutely no taste and like everything no matter whether its good or bad.
This is a legitimately 9/10 movie, go fuck yourself. /tv/ is clearly more your speed, you can meme there to your heart's content and shitpost with the rest of the autists who hate Star Wars and fun entertainment.
I was so worried he was gonna go down with the planet in the explosions
also fucked up Kylo good, putting him at a disadvantage in the duel. I loved how he kept punching his stomach where the wound was.
Alright was I the only one who thought the duel with Kylo Ren and Rey felt off? I just thought Rey was a little to skilled with the force and lightsaber don't you. Still thought the fight was great though.
I guarantee Episode VIII will have Finn and Poe going on an adventure while Rey learns to be a Jedi.
>yfw they meet Lando and the room cannot contain the sheer weight of bro-ness present
I'm not ready to buy the idea Rey is a Skywalker yet. Why would Luke or Leia leave their daughter on a shitty desert planet as a virtual slave scavenging parts for a scrap dealer, that's literally the way to create another Darth Vader.
I know it's not 100% sure but I think Rei is Luke's kid. What really convinced me was when she won the force grab duel for the saber, she won because she had connection to it's two previous owners while Kylo only had one. That and her knack for mechanics and piloting are traits for Luke and Anni.
She was already skilled with that strange staff she takes with her everywhere, as evidenced by her brawl with those thugs on Jakku. Same principle I suppose, fighting is fighting, and Kylo Ren is very obviously not well trained for it either on top of being fairly injured.
>Why would Luke or Leia leave their daughter on a shitty desert planet as a virtual slave scavenging parts for a scrap dealer, that's literally the way to create another Darth Vader.
They already made one by training them they can't do much worse
And finn and Lando can bond over being traitors
Do you feel First Order Stormtroopers are more, equal, or less skilled than OT Stormtroopers?
it felt to me like she was struggling to keep it together and got the "win" bc Kylo was already fucked up from Chewie/Finn and getting emotional. +luck. and it's not like she wasn't a fighter, had that staff
More, by a mile.
They may even be better than clones considering that they are selected and trained from birth. Clones didn't have as much experience or training because they are aged fast.
Finn knew his shit about the galaxy too, even though he'd lived a sheltered existence. and he was just a janitor.
More skilled against unarmed villagers certainly, less skilled against Han Solo. Vader's troops CHASED Han down the corridors of the Death Star while he was screaming like an idiot. Here he's just blasting them 10 feet across rooms with Chewie's Bowcaster while they ineffectually hit nothing. They even tried shooting down X-Wings with their blaster rifles.
FO seemed better from what we have scene. They also know that you should avoid the dark side guy when he is angry. I found the two troopers just backing the fuck away when they saw the sparks fly pretty funny.
Broke the first rule of being a
Once the mask goes on, it doesn't come off. Cept with going to the bathroom, gets funky in there leaving it on. Never get the poo smell out.
I just want a Stupid Trooper spin off already.
I honestly found Phasma more intimidating than Ren up until the end where he's going fucking crazy punching his wound and trouncing Finn/Rey, but they both get their asses whooped in really embarrassing fashion.
No that was Jacen. And even then he went through a hell is he war for years and was captured and brainwashed. And he lost his brother. So it's more understandable Jacen going evil than Bens well guess he was always destined to be evil them the breaks
>worse EU story
I don't know. Jaina and Jacen's final battle, Jacen's purging of Kashyyyk...all were good moments.
>Audiobook used music for emotion setting and made good memories for me
Kylo Ren possibly since Rey swiped at his leg in the fight but other than that no one was disarmed. C3PO has a Venom Snake thing going on though
If he was going to follow the Obi-Wan Kenobi school of child abandonment you'd think he'd at least set her up with a fucking adoptive family or some shit like he had. Why give her a purposely hard life, harder than his even?
>it's more understandable Jacen going evil than Bens well guess he was always destined to be evil them the breaks
We know literally nothing about how or why Kylo turned to the dark side. You can't criticise a story that you're only 1/3 of the way through for not being finished yet.
We don't actually know the real reasons or circumstances for Ben becoming Kylo Ren, and it would be foolish to assume that this is something they'll leave unaddressed in the next two films. I believe there's a lot more to him than we currently know, that intense idolization of Vader and his clear conflict within himself where he's actively trying to deny who he is don't come from nothing.
>There will never be a AAA republic commando with branching paths depending on whether or not you [sp]Kill Sev, who ended up getting lost in the confusing wilderness and never got the activation order, leading to him becoming a rebel trapper[/sp]
I thought Kylo Ren lost a hand since when Rey beats him something falls on the ground and lands next to him, but I guess not, other anons said it was his Lightsaber and that you could see both hands still attached.
Rey hamstringed him and gave him some face scars, but no mutilation. He'll come back a bit spookier looking in the next one, fail again and come back as a full cyborg his like senpai for the last one, I imagine.
>along with hundreds of billions of lives and the fucking Senate nobody seems to give a shit
they did care, there was no time to mourn because the weapon was aimed at them and they had to act.
If it follows the formula and poetry, Kylo Ren won't be injured in the next one but instead Rey will lose a limb. One of her legs. That staff is foreshadowing, she'll end up needing to use it like a crutch.
OH man if he starts mutilating himself for it.
I wanna know about the training he needs to finish and shit. Like Snoke is competently manipulating him. also dark side but not sith? or head sith making himself a fiercely loyal death squad
Surprised he's still alive, he was already an adult military leader during the Clone Wars and clearly much older during Return of the Jedi. I guess fish people have long lifespans.
I'm interested in the Knights of Ren, they look like force sensitive users, but not Jedi or Sith. Kylo also didn't get any training with Luke, I wonder if he's even seen Snoke face to face yet.
poe and finn seem like fast friends, and poe probably understands that finn likes her since helped convince leia to allow him and han to go save her. he won't make a move, and rey won't like him.
stop pushing your shit in every thread.
I don't know how to car
Well it's not like there's are other lightsaber users for him to train/kill anyway. Kylo was probably just picking up resistance scrap every odd friday and never had a real fight, it'd suit his character and his origins as a pompous prince.
Old Man Skywalker come flying in his T-65 jumps out flings from troopers around and causes that scrapyard saber to explode. One hand down.
Now to find my Uncles and Graft it on, Also Grandfathers Saber...ohhhh *fap fap fap* "Grandson are you beating off to the family legacy again?" "....no?"
>thats not how the force works!
The successful implementation of grouchy gramps Harrison Ford here where it has been so problematic everywhere else it has shown up in was exceptional.
Right now, I don't even feel like Snoke is a force user. Aside from his line "there has been an awakening", I don't get the impression that he's actually a Sith or force sensitive. I think he's playing Kylo Ren like a fool, like Han said. Probably fed him some lies about the dark side giving him more power, played on his insecurities and obvious family issues, in order to get himself his own version of Darth Vader. I mean, not only does he have the son of two Rebel leaders responsible for the Empire's downfall on his side which would make for great propaganda, but also has the intimidation factor/built in reputation of having his own Darth Vader going around enforcing his will. People in the galaxy still remember Vader, they were terrified of him, so if the First Order comes out saying they have the second coming of him, that's bound to keep people in line.
>In order to complete his training, Snoke sends Kylo Ren to the tombs of Moraband
>While there he meets semi-sentient Holocrons of famous Sith Lords like Nihilus and Revan
How much do you want this?
> " I am Lord Revan and your helmet is a fucking knockoff you scruffy looking nerf fucker."
Don't remind me about that stupid weapon.
-ABSORBS an entire star to fire a shot.
-That shot is somehow a hyperspeed laser, which makes no sense. They could have just brought back a super galaxy gun, or made the planet arrive in range of its targets, adding a few scenes for the Republic in the mix giving a bit of goddamn context to the whole affair.
-The plasma/laser shot, somehow is visible from a planet several systems away while travelling at hyperspeed.
-The laser somehow divides up into several branches or whatever accurately hiting every planet.
-Explosions are seen systems away in real time.
I mean at least the prequels and the OT TRIED to make things as believable and plausible as possible for a space opera, when the force wasn't involved that is. This was just ridiculous, and wasn't introduced to the plot as well as the deathstar was. It just felt as Abrams was feeding us a rehash of ep IV and knew it so well he decided to gift us with a simple remastered version of the big explosion and action scenes while cutting the exhibition dialogues (like the moff conference in a new hope).
All of that to show us "successful trench run N°3" no surprises, no plot twists, no novelty, nothing.
He definitely is a force-user. He senses han solo is with bb-8 before ren does and he feels an awakening in the force.
Also, he's training Kylo. You typed all that shit out and your dead wrong because you can't understand a simple movie.
Where are the other ones anyway. assuming Kylo killed them right?
I needed that to be more Nazi and it was pretty damn Nazi
>running joke throughout the trilogy is Kylo Ren being called a poser by different people
>you'd think he'd at least set her up with a fucking adoptive family or some shit like he had.
After his experience with Owen completely disregarding Obi-Wan's plan, and lying to Luke about Anakin? No fucking way. Hard lives, while bringing the risk of becoming supervillain origin stories, can also lead to humility and the development of inner strength. Besides, I maintain Max Von Sydow was Luke's version of Obi-Wan placed on Jakku just to keep an eye on her and make sure she never got too overwhelmed.
>Kylo continues to waver
>beats Rey in Ep 8, but is too far gone to finish it
>Snoke sends him there as a last ditch effort to corrupt him
>he sees Revan
>Sheev's history revisions forget to mention Revan coming back to the light
>gets a verbal shit slapping
>he sees the ghost of Vader
>and proceeds to get another one from him too.
>implying Abrams is always 100% truthful about plot points in his films
What is misdirection? This smacks of a "man behind the curtain" situation, with Snoke having Kylo Ren completely fooled. I'm not saying it will be the case, but at the moment it feels like a totally plausible way for things to go.
>Besides, I maintain Max Von Sydow was Luke's version of Obi-Wan placed on Jakku just to keep an eye on her and make sure she never got too overwhelmed.
Read the visual dictionary page on his character, that's not why he's there at all. cmon people, you're acting like retards. i expect you to know about star wars.
Indeed, but when you are being fed A New Hope V2, you expect at least something more than the same trench run getting the same result using a convenient weakness once again.
Avatar also lacked surprises, and the story was pretty shit, yet I find it more satisfying than TFA. Maybe I also expected more than a rehash on Abrams part, who knows, but that doesn't negate my criticism.
>Distribution executives are in complete awe and just can’t believe what they’re witnessing hour by hour. After shattering the box office industry’s preview-night record with $57 million on Thursday, Disney’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set to knock over opening-day and weekend records left and right. You can scratch out that $110M opening day we heard about earlier. Force Awakens Friday — which includes that $57M it made in Thursday previews — is between $130M-$145M per industry estimates (not Disney). This puts Force Awakens in an opening-weekend range of $250M-$275M; a gross that sends Universal’s Jurassic World current opening-weekend record of $208.8M back to the Stone Age.
HE ALREADY KNOWS THIS
HE AND SNOKE LITERALLY DISCUSS THIS IN THE NOVELIZATION
I THOUGHT THIS THREAD WAS FOR THE TRUE FANS, WHY HAVEN'T ANY OF YOU READ THE SIDE MATERIAL FOR THE MOVIE!?
There is a middle ground between hard sci-fi and complete and utter over the top nonsense.
The death star was presented as a huge accomplishment and was basically an oversized laser cannon, the cross sections and the pseudo tech behind it were logical in a way, giving it a semblance of realism.
This monstrosity of a weapon is blatantly retarded on the other hand and doesn't even try to hide it.
I'm glad she didn't really "win", her and Kylo just got separated. But yeah, she was a bit too skilled throughout the movie.
Unless it's another Anakin situation where she's ridiculously OP from childhood.
>implying it won't be pic related
>Yeah. Ben? About that...
>THAT'S NOT TRUE
maybe we'll get a flashback then, cause that's too good not to explore.
I was terrified of some bullshit ending the fight like Luke out of nowhere or something, the earthquake was a relief.
played by an absolute cutie too
Kylo Ren is the one who is OP. He lacks discipline and focus, fights like a crazy person, but his ability to freeze people and blaster bolts with the force is unprecedented. He has significant raw force potential but it is going to waste because he isn't being taught how to actually use it. Couldn't even call Anakin's Lightsaber to his hand which is basic shit Luke could do before even meeting Yoda.
At first I thought her mind controlling a trooper after just learning of her powers was pretty OP but then I realized it must be easy as shit to control them since they are raised to follow orders and must have almost no will of their own.
The one thing I really liked about the Starkiller scene was how it showed the people who were about to die. It wasn't just a rock being blown up like in ANH, we say actual faces about to burn.
She's just equally as powerful, so he couldn't break through her mind like he could everyone else he's come across. They're obviously twins, the symmetry is there plain as day. But his ability is evidence of significant strength in the force regardless of his obvious lack of trained skill.
let's get one thing straight. kylo has had plenty of training from both luke and snoke.
he was given to luke or training a kid and then fucked things up as teenager probably and then snoke has trained him. he reflects on his training a lot in the novelization.
TFA official objective opinions:
It was a rehash but it was good
Snoke is a stupid name and design
It was weird how the republic were the underdogs, shouldn't the first order be the "resistance" group?
Starkiller base was silly but at least they acknowledged that themselves within the movie
It was better than any prequel because it was actually fun as opposed to watching Hayden Christiansen furrow his brow for an hour and a half and call it acting.
im still loling my arse off from "Scheisser".
>It was weird how the republic were the underdogs
This ties into the "it was a rehash" thing. I was disappointed because I wanted to see the mighty republic going up against the terroristic First Order and then they just all but destroy the republic so we can relive muh ragtag rebel alliance
We see Troopers making decisions for themselves several times throughout the movie, though. Finn, the dudes turning around and fucking leaving when Kylo has a spergout
It's not a big stretch to be honest but she still learned semi-advanced force powers and lightsaber combat WAY too quickly.
Why does Finn have qualms killing people he's been trainned to kill over his entire life but has no qualms about killing the very people he's served with and grown up with over that life?
>People are usually too afraid to say their own damn opinion due to the fact that it's Star Wars and they don't want to look like the party-pooper in the time that this was supposed to be the 'Great Resurgence' of Star Wars cinema and are willing to nod and wave with the crowd so as not to be singled out and be called contrarians.
And yet this didn't prevent any criticism of the prequels, which were also supposed to be Star Wars' "grand resurgence".
People were hyped, saw the movie, were let down, and admitted the movie was a huge let down. We took them at their word then. Why are we suddenly acting like people are incapable of being critical of a Star Wars movie?
>Kylo wouldn't even like those chips
>about killing the very people he's served with and grown up with over that life?
They were shooting at him, kill or be killed
How big in comparison are the Republic, Resistance, and First Order?
Are we ever gonna see how these Wars effect average people who aren't on planets that get destroyed?
>Rey is, for lack of a better term, a Mary Sue, she uses abilities she was completely untrained for, like being an excellent pilot for a ship she's never flown before, or being highly proficient with the Force despite not receiving any previous training.
Luke did the exact same thing in a new hope.
He goes from being a farmer to being an ace pilot in a craft he's never been in before. Anakin did the same thing too.
He wields a lightsaber and blocks blaster bolts while blind within minutes of first training with it.
He turns off his targeting computer, which he would have needed to make the almost impossible shot, and instead uses the force to do it.
In the Empire Strikes Back, before he has even met Yoda and undergone any other Jedi training, he knows how to move things with the force and carries his lightsaber for use in combat- as seen when had to use it on a Wampa and later when he cuts a hole in an AT-AT with it. Pretty sure that had Vader ran him down, he would have used it against him too.
> They even tried shooting down X-Wings with their blaster rifles.
don't know if you mean this as a good or bad thing.
>start of the movie
>stormtroopers disable poe's x-wing with just blasters
It's entirely possible to do, and while seeming them prepare for the x-wings by getting into cover, they should have just taken shelter and hold their prisoners better.
Lost Stars and the Shattered Empire Comic. That's basically it. Aftermath is so shit that I can't recommend it even though there is some pertinent information in it and the only other good book, Battlefront: Twilight Company, only takes place during the OT.
She is now my waifu, all of you back the fuck up.
>Why are we suddenly acting like people are incapable of being critical of a Star Wars movie?
People got what they wanted with this new Star Wars movie, after they drove Lucas away and put Disney Suits in his place. They got the movie of their childhoods and some found that their childhood is over and realized the damn thing they wanted in the first place wasn't that filling.
I've seen this with my friends(who were harshly critical of the prequels), we watched the movie together and instead of being excited that a movie was exactly what they wanted, they were sort of bored? of it, that's the best way to describe their attitude afterwards. They weren't that damn enthused by it and aren't even going to watch it again, and instead stay home.
I'm not saying this is happening everywhere, but my friends wanted a movie that was supposed to make them feel like kids again and bring in the nostalgia, watched TFA, and are now bored about it.
I bet she gonna make a staff saber
Yea making them terrorists would have been better but they wanted to play it safe and go with tried and true space Nazi's, oh well it worked anyways.
Maybe they can salvage this though we know they put out a casting call for a politician character, maybe we'll find out more about the galactic politics at play soon and it will make more sense that the republic is weak.
Mark Hamill is so fucking based.
They didn't do much for me. I thought they were hot when I first found them and fapped to them, but after my hype shimmered down, I realized she really had nothing.
Kinda like after seeing Revenge of the Sith for the first time.
its like 60% episode 4
episode 4 was a good, 8/10 - 9/10 movie
the new stuff is mainly 7/10-8/10
soundtrack and locations are 6/10
adds up to an alright movie
influence/copying/mirroring/pottery does not make something bad
look at the origional trilogy lucas stole from everywhere
>that cut at 1:38 as Isaac is about to say "...so you can sit on my face"
Toppest of keks. Not only did I enjoy the film but the cast all seem like good fun as well. That probably helps out on set, by all accounts Natalie Portman was just a total bitch throughout the shooting of the prequels.
Gwen had better come back. She's just too lovely.
>They got the movie of their childhoods and some found that their childhood is over and realized the damn thing they wanted in the first place wasn't that filling.
Too bad for them. I am seeing it a second time next week. This was exactly what a Star Wars movie should be.
It's even worse when you realize that Boba was played by some balding short fat dude and Phasma - by an actress who's a head taller than the rest of the cast and already looks pretty scary.
>see movie yesterday at theater
>find out that someone in the showing after mine pulled the fire alarm and forced everyone to evacuate
So why don't you ship Poe and Finn yet? Afraid of Interracial Gay Romance?
>balding short fat dude
>I've seen this with my friends(who were harshly critical of the prequels), we watched the movie together and instead of being excited that a movie was exactly what they wanted, they were sort of bored? of it, that's the best way to describe their attitude afterwards. They weren't that damn enthused by it and aren't even going to watch it again, and instead stay home.
I have no doubt this happened. This is what happened to a lot of people with each of the prequels and the Clone Wars movie.
But you have to trust people when they tell you that it isn't happening, and lots of people (who did and didn't like the prequels) are telling you that they legitimately like the new Star Wars movie.
You trust people to tell you when they think the thing they were hyped for was shit. Trust them when they admit that the thing they were hyped for was enjoyable.
I fully expect Chewie to go down in a rampage against Kylo, tanking a bunch of Stormtrooper hits and going apeshit on Kylo's face. Chewie gets gunned down and we see Kylo struggling to get his mask back on. Next time we see him maskless he has difficulty breathing and his face is pale and scarred for maximum pottery.
>Why did Kylo keep hitting his side during the final battle? I thought it was because he was bleeding, but that wouldn't really stop it. Intimidation?
I know that when I get a charlie horse or stitch in my side or something, I punch it. Kind of deadens the soreness.
Least it wasn't a shooting. This was like the biggest opening night for a movie ever, with all the crazy shit the last few years I was actually pretty worried there'd be at least one unlucky theater.
you can always dream anon
maybe one day you too will find your tall cute space facist waifu
But they built an advanced weapon of mass destruction that actually worked and their military were well equipped with tech newer than 30 years old.
I want to see Finn/Rey
just so I can drink /pol/ and /tv/ tears
After Plank was hyped up in Weapon of the Jedi, I was surprised he didn't actually really appear in the film. I heard he was there, but I didn't see him. I'm assuming he was either in the bar or in the background on Jakku.
does anyone have a picture of those cool looking bounty hunters with the red and black circles on their faces? the ones from the hangar where Han was keeping those beasts
Out of the whole movie, who was the best new character?
>Have a giant rally to hype your men to begin the full, final war against the filthy Republic
>Don't even angle it so they can see the bitching beam
I seriously saw this last night and if they had a shot of the men turning around to look I missed it as I was going for my drink.
TFA Audiobook has been added to the MEGA in the OP.
If MEGAnon is here, here's the newest Korean Webcomic(the "Story Before The Force Awakens") translations
Anyone else think we should move the the download links to a pastebin or something? We seem to be getting more downloads each day and it'd be better not to clutter the OP up.
We also need a MEGA for season 2. I've got a pastebin of the links:
but not enough space on MEGA to host them
You know, there will never be this much hype for a Star Wars movie again. There will of course be sequels and spinoffs, but as time goes on, people will get less and less hyped as time goes on, like with Marvel.
It was especially different this time, because weren't as hyped for the new movie as much as we were happy to have a reason to come together to celebrate Star Wars. Not just nerds and betas, but celebrities, businessmen, and politicians were all in on the celebration.
It was nice to see the everyone come together for a little while. I'll miss these past few months.
I wish it was easier to track down the plays she appeared in before her GoT gig. Her gestures and expressions are fantastic, I wish she played a force sensitive character in the new trilogy instead just because of this.
Well its just an audiobook for the Novelization. Haven't had the chance to read it yet so I couldn't tell ya. Usually the Novelizations have extra scenes so I'd say it'd be worth it.
Yo, was it just me or was one of the Knights from the flashback similar to FB?
>Superweapon that takes energy from stars
>Protagonist might have been mind wiped
I didn't want to believe it but I think those rumors about Abrams being a KOTOR fan were true.
I think that they're making too obvious for her to be Luke's daughter. I think that she trained at the temple or wherever Luke was training people prior to Kylo Ren wrecking shit, then she was the only one that Luke managed to save. So he wiped her then left her on Jakku, with Lor San Tekka to watch over her
that would explain why she picks up her force powers so quickly
Abrams is a giant Star Wars fag, and a pretty unabashed nerd in general. While I don't think he had a giant EU database in his head, I don't doubt there was some of it he knew well. So yeah, I could see it.
Probably Finn, but that might be because we saw the most of him out of the main cast so he had more of a character by the end than anyone else. With the emotional range and humour Boyega brought to the role Finn felt very human (no pun intended).
Ahsoka move away, new waifu in town.
The prequels each had a flood of positive reviews when they were released, only for opinions to rapidly readjust in the following months.
ESB and ROTJ both opened to quite mixed reviews at first, only gaining their current reputation over time.
It's safe to say that the early reviews mean nothing and that any public consensus on the matter will shake out over time. ANH is the only one that opened to very positive reviews and has retained them since then.
