is this the best villain song ever?
>>
It's the worst song from that movie
>>
>>78261354
I honestly don't remember a single other song from it
>>
Well, it's not as good as Hellfire or Toxic Love, so no.

>>78261343

>>
>>78261971
Hellfire is mentioned all the time for a reason. It's incredibly good.
>>
>>78261944
>Toxic Love
That's not Disney
>>
>>78261944
I agree Tainted Love is the greatest villain song ever.
>>
>>78261996
OP never said Disney
>>
>>78261366
Come the fuck on dude.
Take two more seconds to think about this.

Little fucking Mermaid

Shiver me timbers shiver me soul
Yo ho heave ho
There are men whose hearts are as black as coal
Yo ho heave ho

And they sail their ship cross the ocean blue
A bloodthirsty captain and his cutthroat crew
Tis as dark a tale as was ever told
Of the lust for treasure and the love of gold

And those buccaneers drown their sins in rum
The Devil himself would have to call them scum
Every man aboard would have killed his mate
for a bag of guineas or a piece of eight
>>
>>78261343
Nope. Sheev's in Star Wars.

This

Best villain song from an animated cartoon movie, absolutely.

Of all time though? That's a big stretch.
>>
>>78262234
All of the best parts of that movie are from when they're in the city and not goddamn frogs.
>>
Clearly it's this one.

Yes. Best villain song in the best princess movie with the best Disney princess
>>
>>78262700
It''s actually genius, the song is completely in-character to the villain singing it.

Its broken and out of tune just like his mind and thought-processes, what with being literally insane.

Plus he punches the shit out of a dragon, dude is pretty awesome.

Welcome To The Show
Under Our Spell
>>
>>78264710
The chorus is amazing but the middle part feels a bit disjointed and super tacky with the words.
>>
>>78262234
That song isn't even very good. The melody isn't consistent enough and it's broken up by too much talking. It's just Kieth David's performance carrying it.
>>
>>78262700
Can this even be considered a song?
>>
>>78266556
Not even counting the poor rhymes (green rhyming with green, etc) and the countless repetition of words and verses, a offense to anyone minimally interested in jazz. Newman is the worst when it comes to composing creative lyrics

And yet is the best thing about the movie. The visuals and Kieth make for it. All the rest, however...

>While a Latin chorus recites the Confiteor, the Latin Mass's penitential prayer, in counterpoint to Frollo's declarations of innocence.

Its a really clever song, and Tony Jay's performance is the best part. The part where he sings "God have mercy... on me." is the only part where I really believe Frollo genuinely fears for his soul and isn't just bluffing. The visuals for that part scene at the end of the song also include the statues of Notre Dame forming the shadows to call back to the very start and The Bells of Notre Dame, the last time Frollo claimed innocence despite his sins. The Kyrie Eleison (Lord have mercy) is in both songs as well.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMZg7JqyhXU

AND its a companion piece to Heaven's Light.

9 outta 10, loses a point for making me sad about Tony Jay again.

I like the shifts in tones in the first one and show how they sort of actually care for each other, and the second one is just a really great reprise in my eyes.

Without counting is the same melody of "Heaven's Light", also about Esmeralda, but in a complete opposite way. The very first melody we hear in the movie are those songs melody, which makes it the overall theme for the rest of the movie. Is fitting since Esmeralda is the core of the movie. In the same way lot of songs have the KYRIE mass as background chorus.
>>
I don't think it contends with some of the more known songs, but In the Dark of the Night was tight

It's a shame that there are a bunch of technicolor bugs in the chorus, though...

Welcome to the Show is good, but I hate the way it's presented, with the main characters breaking their performance.

I'm just upset that the show hasn't had a proper villain song yet. There were the two Flim and Flam songs, but I want my NMM and Sombra villain songs, dammit!

I love this one I know it by heart lol
>>

It wasn't used because it didn't fit with the pop music feel they wanted for the movie. It kinda seems kinda like they originally started with the Lorax being a more serious Rock Opera or something.
>>
>>78273462
I want a Dr. Seuss Rock Opera...

>>

it was going to be a Rock Opera actually, in fact originally it was supposed to be almost entirely the Onceler flashback, much like the original special
>>
>>78272061
It has no steady tune to begin with.
>>

I feel like this could have been a good song, but they don't hold any of the notes as long as they should.
>>
>>78271837
This reminds me how much I dislike Cats Don't Dance's animation style. The expressive character animation itself is great, but it would be a lot better if they took it down a notch between beats. A constant problem with the movie is the characters making wide, sweeping gestures at strange times, like the animation director felt like they should do it at least once per scene regardless of context.
>>
>>78272044
The Plagues could be considered a villain song, at least from the Egyptian side of things.

While we're on the subject fo Prince of Egypt...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hH5y71hOvk0

I have a special appreciation for this song after I was in a church play as one of the two Egyptian priests.

I think the list of Egyptian deities at the start was the hardest thing to memorize about that song.
