What kind of movie is that? The Kung Fu Panda movies are probably the best example of advertising mis-representing the tone of an animated movie. Theey're advertised as straight comedies when in practice they're mostly pretty straight-faced Wuxia kung fu flicks, Po's status as a "fish out of water" character not-withstanding.

I'm not sure this one will be a proper wuxia flick, though. The other two were sprinkled with comedy, but underneath that they had the foundation of proper plots:

I seriously can't behind the plot. Ping being Po's family was such an important plot point, and this whole "real family" thing just feels off. Also, the villain looks really lacking when compared to the first two. It seems like Po's contrast with his opponent isn't a major focus here, which is a really big reason the first two are so fantastic.

I think the thing with po's "real familly" feels odd because the point of the first two movies was "it's not about how or to whom you were born, it's about how you lead your life" and now it's about Po rediscovering those things and those two things being important
Of course, we don't exactly know why Po has to train the pandas and not literally any other group of animals
But hopefully, each of the 5 goes out to find their own homes and train their "families" too

I think this new villain might end up being a dark mirror of Po. He seems like a kid playing pretend, just like Po used to do.

I'm guessing he was either completely overshadowed by ugway, or was just plain bad at kung fu and never amounted to anything. Now he's found some artifact that's given him great strength and is trying to be some badass warrior.

That's the only way I can see this goofy villain having any kind of depth or sympathy.

To me it seems more like he just went the opposite way of Oogway. Through hardship and determination, Oogway found peace with himself and was able to hone his body as a tool of enlightenment.

What really bothers me about the movie, is Po's family being alive.
The pandas should have remained dead, it would have been for the better.
Or at least his family should have died when Shen genocided the pandas.

He already accepted in the previous movie that the duck is basically his real father and the furious five his family.
Now he has another family somewhere and it's going to be the same thing all over again.
In the end he's going to realize that his adoptive father is just as much of a real father as the original one.

From the looks of it they're really going to downplay this angle, and the movie is going to be about Po being the teacher, but you can bet your ass that the family aspect is there.
There's really zero need for the pandas to be related to him in any way and it's a cheap way of bridging the new movie to the old one.

Still the first movie was great and the second one was amazing, so regardless of the family stuff, I have zero doubts about them being able to pull this one off too.

Know there's some talk of the show in here, but was it ever fully released? I've only been able to find "The Real Dragon Warrior" as the last released episode. Then again, I haven't really looked in the last few months.

I think Nick stopped payment on them, so production was scrapped. I heard they were paying for them in batches and production supposedly took a long time, hence the fucked-up airings. One day: (after 3 months of nothing and 1 rerun being aired every 7 days) We have 3 new eps this week!! (eps shown mon, tues, and fri) Next month or so, nothing. One day: We have 2 new eps this week! (eps shown wed and fri). They were basically airing single eps after season 1 and watching closely to see if it was worth it, instead of just buying a whole season.
