Kanan: The Last Padawan is ending at issue #12.

>Kicked off of Gargoyles after two seasons at which point it immediately turned to shit
>Spectacular Spider-Man and Young Justice cancelled after two seasons due to toys and copyrights, not the popularity of the shows
>His two canon comic continuations of Gargoyles cancelled after one arc each
>Unlikely that the third book in his nine book series will be greenlit
>Leaves Rebels to work on some secret project that was shitcanned and he can never even tell us what it was
>Now this

How much suffering can one man take? Starbrand & Nightmask is fucking great, go buy it.
>>
It doesn't matter how much money the check is made out for it it's postdated a hundred years from now.
>>
You forgot

>the time he was given a Robotech sequel to write and then it was cancelled

Starbrand and Nightmask's debut issues was fun, if nothing special. I think Weisman's been watching too many animes, though.

Not to mention he was working on a Space Ghost and a Green Lantern series before Young Justice.

At least his Kickstarter was successful.

At least the Kanan comic will have a fitting end.

I never knew about this. I am now mad, because that would have been interesting to see.

I hope once it's released it's successful enough to get Masque of Bones greenlit. It won't be.
>>
>>78259320
He was developing it before YJ. He didn't much about it, but he wanted to do a Herculoids crossover.
>>
>>78257744
At least he's consistently employed. Between the Audiobook, S&N, finishing Kanan, and a secret novel, he's plenty busy.

>secret novel
Wait, what?

Forgot to mention he's writing for season 2 of Shimmer and Shine.

He talked about writing a novel unrelated to Rain of the Ghosts or other stuff.

I think the guys that have the Darkwing Duck rights wanted to do something with it, but it fell through. I remember Greg and those guys being buddy-buddy on twitter for a while.

Actually, what the hell happen to that Darkwing comic revival we were gonna get?

It would have been nice if the YJ tie in comic acted as soft version of season 3, just to wrap some details.
>>
>>78257744
Question: why are so many people all over this guy? I means, he had Gargoyles and Spectacular, which were both pretty good partly because they were cancelled before they could turn bad, but beyond that, there's nothing extraordinary about his work. Why the boner?
>>
>>78257744
Behold, Greg Weisman's worst enemy
>>
>>78257744
Didn't he keikaku his way to get his first gig at DC?And then not only was the project shitcanned after he wrote all the issues, but the artist DIED?

And didn't the PORN PARAODY of Gargoyls he did also get canceled after one issue and now only the cover can be found online
>>
>>78257744
Don't forget Atlantis the tv series, canceled due to poor film sales.

Or Doc Shakespeare

Rain of Ghosts was originally a cancelled DreamWorks pitch

his canceled Icon and Rocket cartoon

The canceled Green Lantern and Space Ghost cartoons.

We need to make a weisman canceed inforgraphic
>>
>>78259320
Register scooped Greg after Ssm went under.

They started on SG Mattel said no because no one knew him and that wouldn't sell toys.

then Green Lantern, but the film was delayed so they were shunted to Mattels dc heroes line

Sam wanted a teen theme, thus YJ.
>>
>>78266460
There is no better long term planner /co/ creator than him, and he is never ever allowed to reach that point.
We all long for what could be.

>>
>>78263890
Pretty much. I missed it when Batman Adventures and Teen Titans Go! (not the TV show) were allowed to run years after their shows ended.
>>
>>78266460

Mostly because he's done a bunch of things that were really good and full of potential but keep getting fucked over by stupid shit from idiot higher ups. I think people feel bad for him more than anything.
>>
>>78267019
>>78266584
So it's more like the idea, the "what if", the potential that is there, rather than anything he actually did?
>>
Seriously, is he an unlikable douche behind the scenes or something?
>>
>>78266716
That's not one of those magic eye look at it right and see something pictures, it's for checking color blindness. you should be able to see the number 3 in the dots.
>>
>>78267072
Helps that the stuff he does put out is pretty good.

I think Gargoyles is his best stuff, since it's fleshed out between the two seasons, the comic, and Bad Guys.
>>
>>78267122
I've heard nothing but good things about him. Dude's just cursed.
>>
>>78267243
Maybe they should rise his home above the clouds.

You don't seem to understand.

The curse is a selection bias.

This stuff is not uncommon in showbiz, but we focus on Greg due to his image
>>
>>78267720
>Common sense

BOOO
>>
>>78267720
It's not so much the cancellation rate as it is the number two focus.

>Gargoyles, Spectacular, and YJ all end in second seasons.
>he worked on the second season of WITCH
>RotG series left in two books because of sales
>Kanan ends after two arcs
>
>>
>>78267701
Believe it or not he used to be a likable well loved guy. Until Demi Moore dumped him. That's when he started to slowly go into JUST territory.
>>
>>78266555
>Or Doc Shakespeare
>Rain of Ghosts was originally a cancelled DreamWorks pitch
>his canceled Icon and Rocket cartoon
>The canceled Green Lantern and Space Ghost cartoons.

None of those are cancelled, though. A lot of show pitches go through many stages of development, and many are cancelled. Just that nobody talks about them as openly as Greg.
>>
Perhaps failing repeatedly is all part of his master plan?
>>
>>78267720
Yep.

Greg doesn't have any sort of curse. It's just a bunch of coincidences.

That said, we focus on it more than others because many of his works have long-term planning, ironically.
>>
>>78257744
he can't even get a third novel greenlit? How pathetic
>>
>>78267796
Maybe he's harvesting fans' tears and broken dreams to gain immortality or something.

He did keikaku'd his way into DC, after all.
>>
>>78267889
To be fair, what the hell kind of a deal is two books? You'd think three would be a more reasonable number.

That's also why he did a (surprisingly successful) Kickstarter: to raise awareness.
>>
>>78267991
>That's also why he did a (surprisingly successful) Kickstarter: to raise awareness.
I don't really understand what he thinks is going to be accomplished by that. Do more people buy random audio books they've never heard of than buy random print books they've never heard of? Don't get me wrong, the series deserves to be successful. It's leagues better than shit like twilight or hunger games. I just think the ship has sailed.
>>
>>78268254
Again, to raise awareness. Most people didn't even know about the book series until the Kickstarter. It could've caused a sale bump in the books.

It also helps that this will be one of the few audiobooks in the market to use a full ensemble cast instead of a single narrator. Professional voice actors, as well.

Back when he was in college, Greg heard that Marvel was doing a talent search for new writers and artists. He figured it'd be late for Marvel, and thinking that DC would do one as well, sent a submission to DC.

Turns out he guessed right and DC started a talent search not too long. Greg's submission was literally the second one they received for the search.
>>
>>78268783
>>78267166
This is a really funny, yet obscure joke
>>
>>78268480
To be honest being a well known writer for a living is not to bad a spoke on the kharmic wheel, even if your stuff is often canceled before it's conclusion.

Personally I hope he does some more crowdfunded stuff if he can, it can give him complete control over the project so there's no chance of anyone canceling it before he's finished his big plot.
>>
>>78257744
>Starbrand & Nightmask is fucking great
It just started, OP, how can you tell it's so great?
>>
>>78274165
Agreed. It has a good start, but still has a long way to go.
