It's just bouncing around from plot point to plot point. Characters go from brawling one panel to standing around in the street the next. Diana's narration continues to be rote and heavy handed. The character moments aren't weaved into the plot at all, they are just "we are going to stop the story and talk about our motivations now." And that's leaving out the fact that Johns is somehow making the Fourth World a boring slugfest and turning the cosmic wonder of Kirby into Rainbow Rings 2.0.

I actually thought it was Iron Man until I noticed his hair...sorry, I don't read very many contemporary capes at all...the last comic I read with Mr. Miracle in it was either the Ian Gibson-illustrated mini-series or the Steve Rude-drawn one off...I suppose it's churlish of me to expect that MM's original design wouldn't have been updated over the years...having said that Barda looks SHIT-HOT; I'd even go so far as to say it's an improvement on her original costume. Plus Kirby (despite everything else!) couldn't draw a pretty woman to save his life. Same with Ditko, and I love them both.

Morrison writes an excellent Darkseid but often falls flat at the individual NGs and it really shows he doesn't really care about the majority to begin with.
