Whats with braids? I thought she and Max were the pair that people expected to develop, not her and Jeff. I don't even think we've seen them interact before. Bad move on Zack for having a character whose never been shown interacting with another on screen to suddenly start giving a shit, especially with this much emphasis. Zack also really has to get his shit together and make a buffer or something. And in the comment below the page he says his longest page streak was 9 pages in a row, which I didn't know, but holy shit Zack you're worse at scheduling then I thought, and thats quite a statement.

I do really love the page though, its definitely nice to see changes being made to the format every once in a while beyond single page spreads or something.

Alternately, I really really feel bad for poor Jeff. Imagine waking up and suddenly everyone thinks your a monster, with a few literally considering you a monster. I hope he ends up better off in the end. Next page is going to be a single page of Jeff crying isn't it?

How is the number of pages affected by the update schedule? Stop using this "it's the serial reading's fault!!!" for everything.
Hitball started way before these 40 pages. The 40 pages is how long it took them to take Hijack down, and most of the plot sowing and character development happened before Jeff threw the fist ball. After it, it's all about PLANBALL, with the only character development being Max sacrificing himself to defend Johnny.

Seriously though, it's nice to see the non spectral kids get a chance to develop, although I worry how Zack will end up juggling so many characters. Probably poorly given his current track record but a man can dream.

As of now, my main problem with some of the non-spectral kids is that, in his head, Zack knows the characters and writes them as if we already knew them. But we don't. I'm more specifically talking about Lisa and Violet. We know Violet is cool, and that people consider Lisa to be creepy. But they haven't had enough scenes for us to see that, and it feels a little unnatural and forced.
The joke of Lisa being "a witch" feels poorly played, because we've seen her doing scary wacky faces and people talking about her, but so far we've seen nothing that justifies that attitude.

I hope that when he said that later in the chapter there would be a ladies-only focus he meant that Lisa and Violet would be developed. Let's hope Isabel won't hog much the spotlight.

honestly, i disagree. while the art may have gotten cleaner, the flow of movement is less eye catching. characters don't move with the same fluidity either and the expressions have become more simplified - which is not a bad thing, but i vastly prefer the more detailed "reaction" faces he used to do.

also the line quality was much, much better back then.

Good. I want an old Issac and Ed sitting on one of the barriers that must adorne the winding hilly roads of their town.
