What's with this kid? Is he some sort of cameo or reference to something? I always thought he was oddly overdetailed.
>>
>>78013752
yeah he looks weirdly familiar to me. i wanna say he's from an old movie or illustration or something.
it's not the detail, it's the weird facial choices and the fact that even while 'happy' his eyes are like that
>>
>>78013752
that kid was the scariest thing to ever come to ppg
>>
>>78013752
That kid scared the crap out of me. I always wondered if he was a reference to a celebrity or something
>>
>>78013795
I know, right? Everything about his design seems so out of place. Like, he doesn't mesh with the art style at all. For reference, here's two of the PPG's classmates. Human characters (excluding the PPG who aren't technically human) are mostly drawn in the hallmark Hanna-Barbera style, with simple faces and body shapes.

He's Craig McCracken
>>
>>78014224
well there are plenty of weirdass uggos in that style too but yeah usually more typicalhannabarbera
then again we see some of craig's later art without genndy or lauren to temper it, and it's pretty fucking also grotesque. For example this creepy kid has the same weirdly tall neck as Mac
>>
>>78013752
What episode is this?
>>
he's based on a BG artist for Dexter/Powerpuff Girls.
>>
>>78014424
Mime For A Change.

>>78014293
That's a bit of a stretch.

Got a photo for comparison?

Also is the artist's name Jim? Because that's the kid's name.

I've seen a picture of him with the filename "1000 years of darkness"
>>

Why did the PGG beat him up after he turned normal? Poor dude wasn't himself.

Jim's a creepy mofo as a kid, but what's creepier is that he shows up in another episode as an adult.

And he's still got those fucking eyes.

>>
>>78014643
I think it was supposed to be funny. Another case of the girls being more violent and destructive than was necessary. I don't need to argue that that was something the show tried to do jokes about sometimes, do I?
As for everyone else going along with it, putting the clown in jail, the show established that the citizens of Townsville aren't the brightest bunch, either.
>>
>>78014643
PPG just like to beat crap. Remember that episode when Mojo babysit them?. They beat the crap out of him just because his napoleon bio was historically inaccurate

They changed that last minute for effect, though it proved unpopular among parents.

Also I believe his design is just random shit, probably something one of the artists had sketched on the table and they found it so funny because it was weird.
>>
>>78014852
okay this is DEFINITELY a reference to something now. Possibly what someone said earlier, one of the animators

Anyone have a source for this? I'd love to know more if this is based on more than just anecdotal evidence or conjecture

>>
>>78014938
Legally speaking he did commit a crime, and does need to be detained. It doesn't matter if he "wasn't himself"; he did the crime so he's doing the time.

Realistically he would probably be held without bail until trial, and then plea insanity for a reduced sentence. Charges would also possibly be filed against the driver of the truck.
>>
>>78015169
It's stated on the PPG wiki, but I haven't checked the reference, maybe the same commentary where the creator said this was one of his 10 favorite episodes.

It's weird how Powerpuff Girls was both a satirical action cartoon about little girls savagely beating up grown men and giant monsters, and a comfy show about little girls being cute.
>>
>>78015240
I see there's something available on iTunes about Craig talking about the history of the show and his favorite episodes.
That's a more legit source than I was expecting, thanks!
>>
He also appeared in Flintstones on the rocks.
>>
HERE'S YOUR ANSWER

it's a caricature of Jim Worthy, a veteran background artist who worked on several Nick and CN shows.

like Dexter, PPG, and most recently Tuff Puppy.

his site is here, he's worked on a shitload of good stuff: https://www.flickr.com/photos/jimworthy/

What the fuck happened to Craig? That's the scariest thing about all this.
>>
>>78015710
Shit, now I remember making this connection as a kid and being curious who was that fucker that showed on two different cartoons.
My mind is at ease, even though there's probably no picture of him on the web.
>>
>>78014852
He's actually less creepy here without the lips, ET neck and lack of emotion.
>>
>>78015647

I wish we had a photo of the guy for comparison's sake.

What show was this?
>>
>>78016955
Presumably Samurai Jack?

Also it may be one of the show's storyboard artists...?
>>
>>78015195
IMDb places Jack Sheldon, who was literally The Bill from the iconic Schoolhouse Rock bit.
>>
>>78013752
>>78013795
He looks like a Rankin-Bass character.
>>
>>78017044
Turns out it was a "deliberate parody" of Samurai Jack from the later episodes of Dexter's Lab that none of us watched.
