I've actually never read Bendis' street level stuff (minus ultimate spidey). I really started reading comics around AvX and Age of Ultron (the comic) so my first introduction to him was not the best. Death of Wolverine/Wolverines was SUPER gimmicky. He became the Inhuman writer because Fraction didn't work out and they needed someone to fill the slot fast. These are his worst works, and it shows.

Having said those, I do like Soule. He has written very good stuff, with a phenomenal Swamp Thing and Red Lanterns, very damn strong She-Hulk and Thunderbolts, and his creator owned title Letter 44 is very good.

He's definitely not bad, but suffers from oppressively edited stuff like a lot of higher-profile Marvel writers. And yeah, Inhumans are high profile considering how dedicated Marvel is to making the property work.

Bendis' events have NEVER been good even when he was at his peak. Old Bendis was only ever good on solo books. Hell, the same applies to current Bendis. During NOW, Ultimate Spider-man was better than his X or GotG books. Right now, his Iron Man is better than his Guardians.

I agree that Bendis is not as much into the ship of Kitty and Peter as Humphries is, mainly because he's not obsessed with romance and actually does a way better job at writing the relationship because of it. He cares about both characters as equals and gives them cute moments but also drama. He keeps them as individuals that have their own ideas but support each other like couples do. Under Bendis Peter isn't Kitty's toy and Kitty isn't Peter's trophy. The ship is even enjoyable under him and it's such a shame that it has a bad reputation because it's 75% Humphries.

That being said, when it comes to self-inserting for Kitty, Bendis has no competition. Little details in panels like pic related speak more volumes in self-inserting than any panel saying Kitty is the girl of his dreams.
