I get you wanted to be obvious, but come on.
This is basically everything he wanted to do. Him working hard enough to a point where he was able to get into making his own show that's not only widely accepted, but also pretty much let him do whatever he pleased, he fucking lived the dream.
If there's any "good" to his death, it's that he lived to see RWBY on an upswing and died before it could ever possibly blow up in his face.

The screamo soundtrack was/is total shit, but the writing is fun and feels more like a show about actual teenagers than most shounen-type shows.

Its really a niche show. RWBY's just a show you like enough to sit through, possibly love enough to bare through the current season. Its really just fuel for me and my writer pals to watch and take notes off of what was cool and whats not, which fights look good and what looks like ass. (This season has been 90% ass). If you dont know Monty and his goals he had for this show, its probably not anything you'd be interested in.
