Man, I don't give a fuck about the Defenders appearing in Infinity War. I want to see Spider-man appearing in Defenders.
>>
Putting them in shouldn't be that hard.

The avengers go into the cosmic battle, fighting Thanos out in space.
The defenders stay on earth, protecting civilians from the forces of thanos.
Idk why this is hard. You don't even need to have more than a couple scenes with the defenders in them.
>>
>>78001497
Might be out of the movie reasons. Like their respective contracts, or other legal things.
>>
>>78001264
At least they're honest about it.

They're not pulling answers out of their ass like certain others
>>
>>78001264
It must be a money thing. How many actor do they have to pay for that movie in between Avengers, Spider-Man, Defenders, SHIELD, Guardians of the Galaxy?
>>
>>78001538
Each of the TV actors have a movie clause in their contract.

No, the real problem is getting Feige and Loeb/Perlmuter to play nice.
>>
>>78001497
It's an exposure thing. They don't want children exposed to these characters in a movie because then they will try to go watch the shows on Netflix. If people let their children watch the Netflix shows they will realize the whole MCU isn't just for kids.

That would kill Marvel's angle that they can take their kids to see any of these movies cause then people may start to pick and choose out of fear that it could be dark like the Netflix shows.
>>
>>78001634
Luke Cage and Iron Fist both show up in the Spiderman cartoon, though.
>>
>>78001908
Yeah but that's Loeb's call. Loeb don't give a fuck.
>>
>>78001572
Three posts and we have company wars.
>>
>>78001264
At least they're honest. But IW is years away. The first main connection to Netflix and MCU will be in Spider-Man, anyway.
>>
>>78001497
>The defenders stay on earth, protecting civilians from the forces of thanos.
>Jessica Jones and Luke Cage can barely fight off a bunch of generic goons
>Jessica gets knocked down by a skinny chick with a piece of wood
>Daredevil fighting against weird, alien sounds and smells, fucking up his radar sense

New York is fucked.
>>
>Marvel's house of cards on the verge of falling down
>>
>>78001908
A Spider-Man cartoon is not a large scale movie that many demographics are taking their kids to see.
>>
>>78002142
Spider-Man and Ironfist will be putting the team o their backs
>>
Shared universe was never sustainable.
>>
>>78002166
Frank nukes New York, miraculously only killing aliens and people guilty of crime.
>>
>>78001264
Ok Marvel, I get why the Hulk is not a Defender, Namor is in limbo with disputes over if Universal or Marvel still own him and the Silver Surfer is with FOX but come on! Dr. Strange should at least be a Defender.
>>
>>78002259
considering defenders are netflix, and netflix has tv-series budget, defenders will only be street-level heroes. Daredevil and JJ dont need cgi. Dr strange does.

Not only did you make a good point anon but...DUBS OF TRUTH!

The full context:

>Speaking with SUPER Interessante at CCXP, co-director Anthony Russo fielded a question regarding whether any of The Defenders could realistically appear in Avengers: Infinity War. Instead of going into the likelihood of it actually happening, Russo chooses to touch on how difficult it would be to actually make it happen. "The films are controlled by a group led by Kevin Feige, so they function as a unit. Other products, even if they are from Marvel, are controlled by others." Breaking down what this means, outside of seemingly affirming rumors of a small divide between Marvel Studios & Marvel Television, is that even though all of Marvel's content takes place in the same universe, the creative decisions behind the films, the TV shows, and the Netflix series are made independently of one another.

>So, essentially, it's up to Feige and the film division to decide on whether or not they want to feature a small-screen character in one of their big-budget films and then it's up to the television division to decide on whether they want to adjust their production schedule and allow that to happen. We may have seen film characters cross over into television before, but crossing television characters into films is considerably more complicated.
>>
Who didn't see that one coming?
>>
>>78002337
Daredevil and Hawkeye
>>
Are Agents of Shield contracted for Infinity War? That could at least make sense if they have at least Daisy showing up and saying something along the lines of we've been monitoring all of you, etc.
>>
>>78002472
AoS has the same problem as the Defenders. They're under Loeb's jurisdiction so while, yes, both the defenders and AoS' actors are contractual obligated to appear in the movies if Feige calls on them, they still have to deal with having to coordinate how they're used with Loeb and that's kinda the whole issue here.

Feige wants total creative control of what happens in the movies. While they can use any of the TV characters no problem, that'd mean Feige would have to work with Loeb on it, and he doesn't want to.
>>
>>78002472
They aren't going to waste tv actors in a movie, get over it.

>>
>>78001264
>Wanting Defenders to fight a cosmic threat

That's not what they're for.

Frankly I'd rather have Spidey join them in a ground level battle, possibly happening simultaneously, than in the Avengers movie
>>
>>78001264
> Anthony Russo: It's complicated. When we start to serialize the telling of stories it's difficult. You have to have a lot of control and focus on the course of history. The films are controlled by a group led by Kevin Feige, so they function as a unit. Other products, even if they are from Marvel, are controlled by others. Then there is the possibility of a crossover, but it's more complicated. It is a smaller scale version of the problem that exists when remembering that Fox holds the rights to some of Marvel's most popular characters, as does Sony and others. As storytellers, we only have control over what happens in Marvel movies, but everything is possible, Spider-Man (whose rights were held by Sony) became possible!
>>
>>78002639
The disbanding of the previous committee is what's causing this. Before they oversaw both TV and movies and both feige and loeb had to answer to them.

Now Feige has total control so there's no reason for him to playball with the TV crowd.
>>
>>78002412
Expected of Daredevil, ironic for Hawkeye.
>>
>>78001264
Why are they called Defenders? Why not Marvel Knights? Both are dark and gritty.
>>
>>78002737
Because they'll be the "Defenders of the City"
>>
>>78001264
Basically, Fiege calls the shots, why are they asking him?

Man, it must really suck to work as journalist these days, so much decompressed writing in this one and guy was taking words out of the Russo's quote and then quoted Russo.
>>
So, it seems like the Feige controlled unit doesn't get along very well with the Loeb one.

Makes sense since Perlmutter is still overseeing the TV side, right?
>>
>>78002737
Sounds like Avengers, but makes more sense. Thus less marketable.
>>
Some more stuff about Spiderman from the Russo bro

>Though it wasn’t announced that Spider-Man will be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe until a few months before Captain America: Civil War had started filming, co-director Anthony Russo has now revealed that the Web-slinger was always a part of the highly-anticipated Marvel threequel.

>“From the second we had the idea to do the story of Civil War, Spider-Man was a part of the story,” said Russo at the Comic-Con Experience in São Paulo, Brazil last weekend. “It was a very complicated business arrangement for Marvel Studios to be able to use Spider-Man from Sony. So, we were always told by Marvel ‘Don't count on it, you may not get to use Spider-Man, so you better have a plan B’ And we were like ‘Okay, we get it, we have a plan B if don't get Spider-Man; we'll figure the movie out’. But the truth is, we never had a plan B. We only have envisioned the movie with Spider-Man. He was always a part of the story. It was very important to us to reintroduce the character.” Russo continued, explaining why this portrayal of the Web-slinger will be treasured: “We cast him young, Tom Holland is a young actor; a teen himself, and we really liked playing into that nature of the character and we think it makes him very special in the universe of the Marvel characters. I think people are really gonna love Spider-Man in this film.”
>>
>>78001264
I'm still in shock people believed that TV and movies would be connected after Whedon didn't bring back Coulson for AoU.

It would needlessly complicate a movie to placate the fraction of people that actually watches the movies and those awful shows.

aka your tie ins are tie ins and meaningless
>>
>>78002806
That's a nice coincidence. Good on them, I hope it's not just marketing move, because it would mean that Civil War might possibly be less of a mess.
>>
>>78002849
It's totally a marketing move.

>Get out there and say you planned to use Spidey all along.

>O..ok.
>>
>>78002762
>Makes sense since Perlmutter is still overseeing the TV side, right?
Yep. Feige wants total creative control and nothing to do with Perlmutter. Perlmutter still oversees Marvel TV, and any use of the Netflix/ABC characters would require Feige to play ball with Loeb.

Daily reminder that under Perlmutter and the Marvel Creative Committee, Thor: Ragnarok:
>Dark and gritty overhaul of the Thor franchise, as they acknowledged that the first two movies were steps in the wrong direction and not what the Thor franchise should be
>written by two seasoned writers that are intimately familiar with the Marvel universe
>Less comedy, more fantasy action
>No more Natalie Portmann

Under Feige and the Disney Regime:
>Buddy cop comedy with Thor and Hulk going on whacky adventures
>Think the problems with the first two was that there wasn't enough Comedy, and the Thor franchise should be more like Guardians of the Galaxy
>Fired the original writers because their script was "too dark," and having the entire script be rewritten by a yes-man with no writing credits under her name that has only been hired because she'll just write whatever Feige and Disney want her to
>>
>>78002824
Whedon has shit to say on Marvel Universe. If he didn't bring up AoS it's only because he was told to anyway.

Besides, how Avengers found Loki's Scepter and how Fury got his sweet Helicarrier that saved everything is explained in AoS.
>>
>>78002866
>Think the problems with the first two was that there wasn't enough Comedy, and the Thor franchise should be more like Guardians of the Galaxy
Weren't those Hemsworth's words, though?
>>
>>78002903
Yeah, Hemsworth said that. /co/ has a problem with being able to tell who said what.
>>
>>78001497
You get a clusterfuck when you cram that many heroes in. You really going to be satisfied watching Luke, DD, and Iron throw a punch while JJ gets taken out by a piece of wood in two scenes?

Also there is money to think of. The avengers are all long time actors now who can demand higher salaries than when they started. The netflix crew will be wanting a nice jump as well compared to what they're making on the small screen.

IMO Marvel's best bet of making the universes united is just doing what they did with AoS and crossing over 1-2 characters at a time between the movie/shows. Spidy is perfect for this.
>>
I don't really want much. Cut to the Defenders on Earth, Thanos' hordes show up, they leap into battle. Cut back a couple times to shiw how they're doing, end with them quipping after they win. That's all, jus5 an extended cameo.
