He was obviously holding back. At the beginning of JL he's still recovering from a perception standpoint after Darkseid brainwashed him so he had to be careful.

He clearly was fine power wise since he was about to murder Darkseid at the end of Twilight. Batman only stopped him because he knew if Supes was to kill the league would start to loose trust in him. Then you have his "cardboard" speech at the end of JLU coupled with his fear in the Doctor Destiny episode of hurting everyone around him.

It's obvious he was holding back but it was a source of great distraction at times.

Why are people so autistic about this? It makes perfect sense if you're not a fucking retard. Aside from the fact that Supes is significantly powered down in the DCAU, he also can't breathe in space, and never could. Wearing a space suit makes it a more comfortable experience, and allows him to wear a comm link as well. It's akin to a human wearing diving gear. We don't need to, but it certainly makes it more convenient.

Also, I recall there was an episode where the watchtower suffered a hull breach, and Superman flew out into space without a suit to fix it. Proving that he can, indeed, be in space without a suit.

The whole thing about Supes being underpowered was more of him being afraid of going too out of control with his power. He felt that anything that is alive should have a chance to live rather than be turned into a pile of mush by beating the absolute shit out of it.

This is further enforced when we are given the whole President Lex/Justice Lords plot when Supes saw how his alternate universe self became in control of everything because of how powerful he really was, and he did not want to be that or be shown to be like that towards the people of earth.

The DCAU digital comics might not be perfect but I'll still read them purely for my love of the shows and how it expands them. I really like Danica Williams as the Flash beyond and the way she could communicate with all the flashes that had become one with the speedforce to give her advice.

John was good, even though they changed his character from the comics a lot (which was inconsistent as fuck, anyway).

Only problem is that comics imported this characterization, without making it as nuanced as the cartoon version. Like, John's exterior in the DCAU was "hard-nosed no-nonsense black guy," but there was so much more going on under that.

There's not really anything more going on under that in modern comics John. He's just, "I saw some shit in the war, man. Death is sometimes necessary cuz I'm a soldier. Feel bad about killing that planet. And that other one. Don't like what I had to do but sometimes you gotta cuz soldier."

Unfortunately tho, the biggest problem about writing for DC is that they are primarily trying to cater to children VS catering to the fans. Just look at the mess of shows they have piled up over the years vs keeping a series on the air long enough to call it a series. Even calling that pile of garbage TTG! a DC comics based show is a giant insult to the comics at all.

Captain Cold was basically a blue collar crook with a cold gun. Timm and Co complained about how broken The Flash is, but they never used those villains that can actually take him on. Lack of Zoom is especially baffling.

I get that James Tucker thought this was the last time we'll see these villains and the Batman villains were off limits, but come on, Cheetah should have had more prominence, Captain Cold, Zoom, Black Adam, etc

Greg Rucka's legendary run was going on when the show was in it's second season. They really should have taken a lot of things from that run and not treated the Greek Gods as such jokes. Ares was completely wasted, Circe was a literally a we're buffyfags episode, etc. Hades was the only one that felt like a threat and Cheetah was basically treated as Catwoman lite. Making her an ambassador in the final season of JLU was too little too late and they still did that stupid ass 70s spin thing.

Also I wish that supposed Nightwing and The Outsiders thing actually happened, but whatever.

Can't speak much for the other villains, but Black Adam probably had the same legal issues Captain Marvel did. I think that's why Cap only made a single appearance.

Admittedly, a lot of the anti-flash measures are kind of stupid when you think about them. Not all of them, but the majority really shouldn't work.

Of course, part of this is because Flash going all out curb-stomps a large, large number of villains.

Deathstroke vs Flash should not be a fight. It's ten seconds of Deathstroke getting his ass kicked. Fuck you, Identity Crisis.
