80's: Grim dark age
90's: Edgy
00's: Big Commercial Events Age
10's: tumble age but otherwise the same as the last decade

Did I get that right?
>>
>>77979988
First half of 90's was Extreme not edgy, second half was Neo-Classical with runs like Robinson's Starman and Busiek' Avengers

This return to the spirit of classic comics in modern settings lead to stagnant nostalgia in the 2000's
>>
>>77979988
>tumble age

You. Go and try to find the period during which capeshit hasn't been socially progressive.

I'll be waiting.
>>
>>77980295
There's being "socially progressive" and then there's pandering to identity politics. Supporting unions doesn't mean you're okay with trannies.
>>
Mid-90's - early 2000's: Cather to niche anime market
>>
>>77979988
What's the difference between grim dark and edgy?
>>
>>77980399
Grim dark is more Frank Miller noir. "Extreme" is a better term for the 90's than "edgy".
>>
>>77980295
You. Go and try to find another period during which capeshit used stealthbrags and presentism as substitutes for coherent plots and decent pacing.

I'll be waiting.
>>
>>77979988

80's: Deconstruction Age

Early to mid 90's Marvel: Xtreme Age

90's DC: Legacy Age maybe?

Late 90's: Neo-Silver Age

00's: Events Age

10's: Accessibility Age? Maybe it's because there's so many damn relaunches and publishers are trying to pander to everyone?
>>
80s: More serious, dark, and gritty.

90s: X-treme, over-the-top edge, no longer as grounded or serious.

00s: Not as dark or edgy, but much more grounded. Fantastical elements are minimized in favor of "realism".

10s: Wacky. Colorful and not serious at all.
>>
>>77982170
the 90s were the greatest, dummy.

>10's
Webcomics and manga age, nobody reads traditional comics anymore.
>>
>>77980322
Why aren't you okay with trannies? It's not like their lives affect you at all.
>>
>>77981789

That is a meaningless term.

You don't get it. That's what progressives have always been for.

If they're not whining about the white man's burden, then they're trying to get you to pay for their social programs.
>>
>>77979988
Old guy here. As in old enough to have experiences all four decades of comics first hand. It's more like this:

80s: "The Silver Age was retarded, let's undo it"
90s: "XTREEEEEEEEEEEEEEMMMMMMMMMEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
2000s: "Cinematic Events"
2010s: tumblr

So you nailed the last two, but didn't quite understand the historical context of the 80s and 90s.

>>77980295
Don't listen to this faggot. I grew up as liberal as you could possibly get to the point that I was considered an extremist for that era. There's a HUGE difference between the writers being leftwing and the writers forcing tumblr shit on the characters just so they can receive an imaginary pat on the back from strangers on their blog.

>>77980322
>There's being "socially progressive" and then there's pandering to identity politics.

This guy gets it. The above sentence sums it up perfectly.

>>77980185
>second half was Neo-Classical with runs like Robinson's Starman and Busiek' Avengers

JLA was the exception more than anything else. It was the beginning of the move away from that, but Spawn still sold like hotcakes. The overall direction of the decade was defined by the Image guys.

>>77980398
This dude has no idea what he's talking about. No one cares about weeb shit.

>>77982896
>Everyone for himself is the way everyone should should live! No one should get any help at all!
It's people like you who are dragging humanity down.

Not that guy, but the fact that you're supporting slavery is basically proving yourself wrong.
>>
>>77983234

Why haven't you been banned yet? Shitposting is against the rules.
>>

No
How many of those decades have you been alive in, just curious

I don't see anyrhing wrong with that greentext, be a fucking man. Nobody owes you a goddamned thing

Humanity is a collective. We need to work together. Part of that is taking care of each other.
>>
>>77984566
No, I need to take care of me and mine,if you're too lazy to anything about your shitty life that's your problem bruh
>>
>>77984618
No wonder America is just becoming more and more shitty. I wish you would pull your head out of your ass and see the actual world instead of your fantasy. Try volunteering and giving back to the community you live in for once, instead of being selfish and "taking care of my own"
>>
>>77984566
>Humanity is a collective.

This is objectively biologically false.
>>
>>77984711
Is that why monkeys and apes form groups to live in?

It's called the ghetto
>>
>>77984792
I walked into that one.

Survival of the fittest, if you don't work, you shouldn't eat.
>>
>>77982228
Never said they weren't.
>>
>>77984832
Survival of the fittest has already been proven to be patently false, not to mention inapplicable to humans.
>>
>>77984681
You forgot to tell me the year
>>
>>77986783
Sorry, I thought you would have been responsible enough to keep track of that sort of thing and keep yourself educated, but I guess with the caliber of your comments and views on the world it turns out you aren't. My bad.
>>
>In this thread: People who think that comics dint' become mature until Alan Moore or grim and gritty till Frank Miller

I think we need to remember that guys like Chris Cleremont on X-Men, Barry Windsor-Smith on Conan the Barbarian, Roy Thomas on Killraven and Marv Wolfman on Tomb of Dracula where all starting to edge towards more literate comics back in the 70's. Not to mention Steve Gerber's Howard the Duck, Denny O' Neil on Batman and even some of the early Swamp Thing issues where much better written than most comics of the day.

Also, keep in mind there was a another world of comics in the Underground Comix scene, with guys like Robert Crumb.
>>
>>77979988
When are they going to stop calling it The Modern Age? That could theoretically last forever.
