As the year is starting to come to a close, it's time to take stock. What were the best /co/ storytimes of 2015?
The entire Captain Underpants storytime was fucking great, we got deepest lore and new memes
Yeah, Desginated Dave storytimed the series from start to finish over a week in summer.
The secretcrisis storytimes were pretty great. Also obviously the Storytime of Pain.
I had fun with this.
I think the only other storytime I stuck around for was Night of the Were Ed but it wasn't my first time. I stuck around for the newbies. I'm looking forward to Serenity.
>Pretty much every character in the comic is a cunt, a retard, or a retarded cunt.
>They take way too long to die.
>The art would be decent for a webcomic, not a comic that you'd pay for.
The SuperSaiyanCrash storytime Train of Pain was pretty memorable, even though it kinda ran out of steam near the end there. Don't blame it, though, that shit dragged on forever....
The best book was after Pilkey came back from the six-year hiatus after his dad died, he starts writing for an older audience and it's basically the children's book Evangelion at the end.
It was a strange storm of terrible cliches and decent art, beefcake reindeer, and butchered English to just make it appealing to some debased corner of my mind.
It is now a regular guilty pleasure as I see how much more of a hormonal bitch Stitch turns out to be.
I was there! I was there and I loved it.
Other great storytimes were the Usagi Yojimbo run not too long ago, the usual MAX Punisher storytime by Kind Storyteller, and a few others.
The Invincible storytime was pretty epic...
... jesus, the mustaches.
There was an Endtown storytime earlier last Spring.
That was something else - a 7 day, ~2000 page marathon.
It's not abysmal but it's like the definition of mediocrity.
It does have a guy kicking a bear in the nuts, though.
>What were these storytimes?
Sweet Jesus, do NOT ask such questions!
Last time, somebody was kidding around and some anon claiming to be Satan posted, saying he was gonna storytime girls.
Mother fucker got "666" as his trips!
SO HE DID IT.
"Girls" is so bad people reading will literally be screaming for death in the threads.
Do not call that pain down upon us again, anon!
>I'm gonna say Godzilla in Hell deserves an honourable mention due to how we all reacted to the Godzilla made of little demons.
>Most metal page of the year.
Godzilla in Hell was fucking amazing.
It has some of the greatest unintentional comedy ever.
I still can't explain my fascination with it either.
Archie vs Punisher storytime was some of the most fun I've had all year. Honorary mentions go to most of the Godzilla storytimes and >>77978107.
that storytime was how I got into endtown and I know it's probably one the fastest updating webcomics but I just want more. But at the same time I don't want the guy to almost die again.
>The characters are either assholes, bitches, or retards
Honestly, the only redeemable thing about it is that it has some of the funniest unintentional comedy out there. Still not worth the time sink it takes to read it, which is probably the reason it's part of the story time of pain.
Was the entire Geoff Johns run of Green Lantern this year? Or has it been over a year already? That was pretty good, though I suppose it was a bit more low-key than some storytimes. Still fun to follow along with /co/, though.
>threads full of /co/mrades who grew up with Captain Underpants
>pretty much everybody reading the last bunch of books for the first time through the storytimes
>based story anon delivers download links in addition to flip-o-rama gifs
>minds being blown simultaneously by how dark and epic Pilkey made the series
>the end of that one book with PoopyPants getting crushed with "gore"
>Pilkey cuts the bullshit and goes full cynical from corrupt teacher unions to over-medication
>the pets sacrifice themselves and simultaneously trigger the Big Bang, creating life as we know it
>GOP (Grumpy Old People)
>Captain Underpants is a coping mechanism for Harold's dad walking out on him
>George and Harold become GOD-tier mangakas in the future
>"Harold and his husband"
>that unsympathetic, grimdark, middle finger of an ending to the series
>fresh OC in every thread
>NGE: End of Underpants
Second for best dumps of the year.
Some wonderful anon storytimed the first few books of Alone they'd translated. I absolutely loved it, definitely will pick up a copy if I can find them in English.
It doesn't give the slightest hint of what's going on so the only thing you can think while reading is "why is everyone so retarded"
from what I gathered the idea of the plot is ayy lmaos that mimic retarded cute girls to the point you cannot distinguish them from other humans, so you don't suspect a thing until they start killing people. Even then you wouldn't think they are actual aliens
also they can smell gays.
This was great
>No one posted about someone storytiming all of Preacher
>Nor storytiming Azzarello's run of Wonder Woman
Thanks to whoever did that, you made me get into comic books. Seriously one of the greatest things I've read, I'm trying to get Perez's WW run for christmas
Not sure when it happened, but someone story timed Nemesis AKA the comic that had the womb triggered to collapse if an abortion was attempted.
Nemesis is magical. It's one of those comics that everybody just has to read just because of how god awful it really is. It's the kind of media where you're asking questions (mostly what? and Why?) every page if not every panel.
I also enjoyed the injustice gods among us threads while that comic was still "good" for lack of a better term.
That picture with Harley so reminds me of this.
Didn't Beauty happen for the first time this year. way back? That was amazing.
Alone was a great time too. Except for that fucking little kid...
>that unsympathetic, grimdark, middle finger of an ending to the series
It was bittersweet.
The sweet part was George and Harold eventually becoming Ashirogi Muto.
The bitter part was Captain Underpants no longer existing, regular GnH learning that their parents preferred them docile and compliant (after all the talk of encouraging their creativity) and fucking off to parts unknown in their time machine, replaced by two-days-earlier GnH who were none the wiser, and the general revelation that their universe was, cosmically speaking, the evil twin.
And those last few pages, man.
>"what do we do now?"
>"wanna make a comic?"
>"Sure, who does captain underpants fight this time?"
>"Actually let's do something else, what about cop dog"
for me the best one was the chronological Hellboy storytime
I was so fucking tired but I just couldn't miss out on the insanity. I'll make sure to storytime it the next weekend of pain, everyone on /co/ should read this at least once.
I'm disappointed, /co/.
>Tfw I couldn't keep up due to circumstances
>Gone forever because moe died
I know some people tried to start one at least times this year, but it never took off. If something like that happens again, it'll be on 12-4 chan most likely
These comics are a fucking goldmine if you need reaction faces.
Glad folks liked it.
My New Year's Resolution is to do a Deadpool-thon next year.
Holy shit that was something.
Andre the Giant
Fucking great year. Long form story times are nice. You come home, and tune in and catch up with the rest of /co/. it's like a constantly running tv show.
anything from dan and the other trip posters
really liked heart in a box.
Probably Usagi storytimes.
Endtown gained a lot of traction at the end of last year, so I don't think it counts.
Storytime of pain was something else.
Oh, right. I think that the timeline was finished but some of the issues had recommended songs missing. I'll storytime the newest issue tomorrow, if someone else doesn't do it before me, and put the infographic there.
>It's not abysmal
No, but characters acting like fucking retards all the time are enough to drive you up the wall.
The only character with a little sense with him was the hillbilly father with a retard son. And the bear.
Mine's probably a tie between Alex & Jack and Slender. Just for the most stupid dialogue you will ever hear.
My favorite was Beasts of Burden.
I wouldn't call it the best storytime, but it was my favorite new comic I read this year.
Also, if anyone recalls, I was the retard who storytimed most of Jhonen Vasquez's work in celebration of the new Zim comic early this passing summer. First time I dedicated that much time to a storytime, but I had a lot of fun.
so, ready for a end of the year storytime?
ps. i was satan
There was this great storytime of Jack last year, tons of discussion and everybody bonded over it. I remember it started with someone mentioning the body tank or whatever and then more just kept coming, and I couldn't stop reading. It really is kind of sickeningly addictive.
I haven't read the thread so feel free to kill me but I am very much grateful for the Les Nombrils/The Bellybuttons storytime that happened a few months ago. I didn't know about it beforehand, now I am a suffering fan like the rest of them.
aww thanks guys, i love you, and everyone else that was part of it and enjoyed the ride
specially you anon, for doing all those edits
Whoever made this for me during that HIBY storytime, thanks. And thanks to whoever did it too.
Because of Captain Underpants being accidentally wiped from history the world is becomes a giant wasteland (pilkey devotes wordless pages to this) and a robot crushes the only survivor into a huge splatter of blood
It's true. The archive is gone so I can't get the pictures but that's exactly what happens in the book. He didn't actually die but that's not until the next book, in this one we assume he got crushed into gore
