Getting to the final 24 hours or so:
For those of you who weren't here the last couple of years, I did various Christmas contests and would gift someone who I arbitrarily chose as the winner. I intend to keep that tradition alive this year.
I decided to get started with a (relatively) big challenge: Write a Christmas story featuring /co/ characters. Maybe Lex Luthor decides he hates Santa because he challenges human superiority. Maybe the Flash has to sub in for Santa one night and deliver presents around the world (has that been done? That must have been done before). It doesn't have to be long, just something short and simple, but the more Christmas special-y the better. If you're a drawfag and want to draw it out instead, that's fine too.
Send your submissions to [email protected] Or you can post them in the thread, but just make sure I see them. I'll give everyone until Sunday afternoon (Eastern time) to put something together. At the end I'll share them with the thread and crown a winner. Make sure to include your wishlist with your submission.
Alright, new Christmas thread! Here's my code if you wanna Christmas gift me something or whatever: 297MIGOM4JLT0
So, /co/, what are some unique Christmas traditions you guys celebrate? I love hearing about how other people celebrate Christmas.
Nothing too unique. My family is pretty religious so Christmas Eve service is always on the books. My parents always let us open one present on Christmas Eve after coming back from church too.
Woke up from the coma in time for a new thread! I'll just drop this here: VJ9BT1OBNF7
I didn't add the text, but I did change up Santa and Capt's eyebrow situation before I clocked out, so here's that edit.
Do you want the text added? because I can totally do it
As always, if you guys wanna request a scrib, go for it!
Merry Xmas Boobies, it's that time again time for another Riddler Xmas Prize Puzzle Penis Pentration Extravaganza (ignore those capital letters kids, seriously those were a joke). Speaking of time what do you think of my new portrait it's got quite a festive name. Fitting don't you think?

I love Stargirl too! Need more of her in my life... Does she show up in much beyond JSA?
Also; new thread, wishlist post, I guess? That's how it works right?
Was about to make a thread when this one popped up.

Hello everyone, hope you're having a great Saturday.
I'm dropping my list for this year. It's
Hope you have a merry Christmas
>Are you the Anon who tried to get the Marvel Masterwork "2 for £30" deal I mentioned, and the staff had no idea what you were talking about?
Yeah, i'm suprised you remember.
>Because I'm really sorry they were so shitty to you
Don't worry about it, i expect it from there at this point. The last time i went in i was looking at the floppies and the girl at the till by the door stared at me the entire time i was in the shop.
Is it really that strange to see a black guy interested in comics?
Man, I'm happy I finally woke up for the first day in a week and feel vaguely alive.
Celebrated by nabbing myself a few comics on sale.
I remember reading the Street Fighter comics years ago and enjoying them.
Enjoy it. I had to select a used copy, but it said the condition was really good, so hope it doesn't arrive looking like crap. Merry Christmas, anon.
Oh, thank you so much (San)tajador! Merry Christmas to you too
My family would always watch Santa Claus Is Coming to Town on christmas eve morning, and The Year without a santa claus at night before bed. It started when we were really young, and it was easy to convince us to go to sleep after watching year without a santa claus.
Love those miser brothers
Oh my god I know. That whole story arc just made the fact that it got cancelled hurt so much more worse.
I just want another DCUP/Brave and the Bold series that actually lasts, but nothing fucking sells for DC without Batman front and center anymore.
Just found out about these through German Amazon, these minikits come with small paperback comics
or in some cases just stickersso they still fall under the book category and qualify for their free shipping.
Checked Amazon.com and the majority of these don't cost more than $9. Thought they were neat and maybe worth sharing with you guys, they make for sweet little stocking stuffers and wishlist additions.
That whole arc was pretty fucking rad and featured about a dozen other minor DC characters thrown in. It sounds like it should be a clusterfuck but I love stories like that because it gives these characters a chance to play off of each other in interesting ways.
It'll make a great single trade, Parker JLU, and I still hope for some kind of relaunch
Today has been weird, I woke up early and have already had three naps and am still tired. I feel this is going to ruin my sleep cycle
I love Archies adventure series. I'm a sonicfag, so I picked it up out of habit. It was pretty good, the first crossover with sonic is solid, the second not so much. But the main series is great if your a mega man fan.
Pretty solid fun. If he's a fan of the games, he'll probably enjoy the comics.
There's also a big crossover (technically there are two crossovers, but I haven't heard many good things about the second) with the Sonic comics if he's a Sonic fan too.
Enemy Ace IS awesome. His internal conflict of being an undefeated killing machine but finding no enjoyment in fulfilling his patriotic duty in the war is great, and the old school melodrama narration amps it up marvelously. The showcase presents volume collecting his appearances is great, even if you don't like war stories.
Don't worry Anon try reading the past write ups

God, when I think about all the comics (and books and games and TV shows and movies...) that are out there and want to read, it gets depressing thinking about all the things I'll never finish or get around to.
>i'm suprised you remember.
You seemed pretty pissed off with the whole thing, and I felt bad for putting you in that situation.
>mfw that spoiler
... Shit. I am so sorry you had to deal with that shit. The worst I ever had to put up with that place was having one of the store owners telling me not to read comics in the store
and to be fair I was just straight up reading trades cover to cover and putting them back on the shelf. Was it the girl with the bright blue hair? Because she was nice as pie to me when I went in there today. Then again, I'm a schlubby white guy. Have you heard of Geek Syndicate? Those guys are pretty fun to listen to.
I just went to my mailbox and THANK YOU BASED ANON! I've been jonesing after reading this in print and put off doing any scans to wait.
I do follow Steranko on Twitter because his stories are amazing.
Kind of surprised at just how many properties they have made mini kits out of from South Park's Mr.Hankey to Gremlins and Godzilla.
Found a review of it, doubt it would annoy your cats much.
Aww snap I need to add that book to my shelf.
I missed the first 8 or so Secret Santa threads does anyone know if anyone has storytimed the Transmetropolitan Xmas shorts? Or care if I restorytime them?
I don't think anyone's done that one yet but I may be misremembering.
We've still got a ways until Christmas, we're going to have to start repeating storytimes eventually anyways.
Here we go /co/ both Transmetropolitan Christmas Specials (as both are really short)
It's Saturday and I finally have it off. Hope everyone is having a good one so far. Gonna head out to see that new Krampus movie since I slept through Wondercon, so no new art until late tonight, if any. Hope I stay awake during it. So since I new art, here's something old. If post my code but I don't have it on my phone.
Yes please. I'd like to see both.
Mine's been fucked for 2 months now. I can't sleep more than 5 hours comfortably.
Better late than never heres my wishlist
Already got somebody something (poxa gronka), will try to get 1 or 2 more things for others in the next week or so time and money permitted.
Nah don't worry about it it happens.
Onto the second one!
Grant Morrison has that Santa Claus origin story comic out right now, it's actually pretty good, art is phenomenal.
That's all for now /co/ which one did you prefer? I like the second one a little better myself, mostly because of the interaction with the Filthy Assistants.
Reposting my list: Z41JYHV8A537
Lost my old collection of comics to story time thanks to a hardrive failure but I can post the first 17/18 pages of the eventual one day in the far flung future next issue of Orc Stain
New wallpaper I made from the new Bob's Burgers issue
no page 16 to be found so gotta use your imagination until the day but heres the aftermath of it
I'm gonna get drunk and write a Kid Loki saving Christmas story
even though I'm jewish and never read a loki story
just know that he's the prince of lies and wants to redeem himself right?
reposting my code
don't expect anything
it's about not getting your hopes up
this is the first holiday/birthday where I'm going to be alone
at least I have my /com/rades and comfy storytimes
Calvin and Hobbes is really great. I always want the complete collection, but I hear the binding isn't good for repeated readings. Bad binding is something that always gets my goat. What's the point of a collection like that if you can't flip through it regularly?
I got a whole bunch of book collections of Calvin and Hobbes when I was a kid and passed them on to my cousins after I've read through them so much that the glue in the spine was starting to crack and fall off.
In all fairness, if I recieved presents when I was a kid that literally had my name on them and weren't obviously the kind of thing you buy in a catalogue, I'd be silently horrified as well.
I swear to christ every time I go into this one local thrift store I find something
9 times outta 10 its a C&H or Dilbert collection but once got the first 12 volumes of Fables for $5 there
Hey Taj, glad to see you liked your superman book! For the record though I'm not the same anon who got you the blue lantern shirt, two anons must think you're a swell guy this year
And we're updated we're up to 72 gifted anons and a 49% gifting rate, hot damn!
Monday, 12/7/15 I'll be streaming the train-wreck that is The Star Wars Holiday Special at 12 PM and 6 PM PST. I'm still looking for a good free streaming service if anyone has a suggestion. And once I have a link for it I'll be posting it on the threads and at the bottom of the pastebins.
Awww that's sweet....
Chibi Hitler.... huh.... not sure how I feel about that.
I wanna go thrifting some time, my sister and I sometimes go together and have crazy luck. She got an early 1940s cast iron pan at a Goodwill for $1, and that thing is a quality they just don't make any more.
Well, I'm not depressed about it anymore and that's about all that'll happen until I happen to get depressed again. Thanks for remembering, though! It means a lot!
Ho shit, yeah they made them thick back then. That's impressive.
I once picked up a 20+ piece set of lab-grade glassware from Salvation Army, beakers and flasks and shit for about 25 dollars all together. Have no idea how it got there but they're mine now so I can do amateur chemistry stuff in my backyard without worrying about messing up my pyrex dishes.
>That glorious feeling when you're debating getting a pizza you don't really need and discover you have a free pizza from Papa J's
Time to ruin all the good I did by running this morning. Let's celebrate with some Batman.
>Select all images with soup
I think I preferred the shitty text captcha to this.
I really like the cover to this story. Haven't actually read it, so no idea what happens.
Well that was fun. In Gotham, even Santa can't be trusted.
I'm still convinced it has to do with
the final day of the 12 days of Christmas (5 o'clock, 5 golden rings, there's 12 of them, i unno), there's even some versions that end with 12 ringing bells.
Can't move past that, and can't get any passwords that work.
Glad you like it! Your original pic was too awesome not to do.
It's actually not the thickness that's the real gem with it, it's that the surface of the pan is almost as smooth as glass, and all the modern stuff is grainy in comparison. It's one gorgeous pan, especially properly seasoned, and if you take care of cast iron it'll last and last.
and the there's the fact that it makes a fantastic improvised weapon.
I wish I've had as lucky of thrift store finds as you all, I do have a bunch of the original Flintstones and Jetsons comic books but my best find I gave as a gift to my highschool science teacher. A signed promotional photo of all of the Apollo astronauts.
I really was but my high school science teacher helped me a lot even before I was in high school, kinda person that was more of a father figure then my own father, even introduced me to Hitchhikers Guide.
Its a good list.
Also sorry for the slow posting, I have to use my phone as a hotspot
One of my favorite Goon pages
The problem with legacy captcha is you can't cache them
Anyone read for FOUR HUNDRED PAGES OF THRILLING ARCHIE?
I know, me too.
Maybe 50 pages here or there
Jughead is such a good friend
Now he's got some perfect priorities
I uploaded a bunch of christmas radio plays. I posted them in the last thread but I don't know if anybody downloads anything from the mediafire.
Any Shadow X-Mas?
No, she's all about her man.
>but they are lost forever.
oddly fitting then
Perfect Jughead panel there
Oh Moose, you ham.
I remember this one
Dang it Reg.
Gotta love Reggie
HE MADE IT!
Fairly certain that Jughead made these.
And that's all for now.
400 pages is a lot
Howdy y'all. How is everyone today?
Had another day off, but the next three will probably be rough(like yesterday was)
At least I can get paid Monday and then I can finally post my code and give out a few gifts!
Once I deposit it, that is.
Ah, Saturday evening. The time only the most dedicated (read: lonely) /co/mrades are around!
Well, it's time for the Christmas Cryptoquiz! This puzzle will be a prize puzzle. So post your wishlist with your solution!
>quote, makes ya think

Have some christmas skellies.
Yeah my family grew up as Nintendo kids, so Mario games were a big part of my childhood.
If you guys are the betting type, the whole thing's going down in a twitch stream right now
Only watching the second best Bill Murray holiday movie ever.

Whew, now that the STORYTIME OF PAIN is done for the night I can come bitch to you guys about this afternoon! So I'm digging out a spot to plant something, trying to clear out some heavy clay soil, but it's still kind of wet. Leave the tools out, fuck around elsewhere, then it's almost dark and I think "oh should get the tools." Go to the backyard to find my large hole is full of water, wtf. Neighbor behind me? Left a garden hose running when not home, and now the backyard is a swamp in that corner.
I hope he gets a nasty water bill surprise for Christmas.
I was almost on Jeopardy, made it through the first two cuts of contestants, but didn't know enough of ancient royalty to get through the third.
yay I'm helping
Well crap I give up, it's time to go to bed anyways.
From that I can tell the opening word should be Don't or Won't if going for the third word being shoo.
I'm glad someone is laughing at this.
This one is coded in the same manner as the other prize rounds...You should always have just enough solvable code that you can just google rest (I'm a realist, here).
For your sanity though...
C = N...always
W = P...always
>Box 2? Wait until box 4, I had to take 17 screenshots just to try to make and sense of anything.
I shouldn't be laughing but this is hilarious! Keep at it!
Don't give up Anon, Box 4 is pretty tough and will probably take that Anon a bit.
Hey with OOO forms you can't go wrong they were all great designs in my opinion.
Tajadoru was my favorite and Putotyra was second place.
OOO has god-tier insert songs.
>send a bunch of links to the OP and combo insert songs to my brother to try and get him interested in watching Rider with me
>"lol what is this shit I couldn't listen past 30 seconds of it"
literally the only word that "WXHMXUXHXV" could be is persevered. But if that is the case then the first word would have to start with a vowel in order to make the second word work and _EN'S can't start with a vowel. This cryptogram doesn't have a solution.
The real twist is that the actual answer is NXC'M EPOKNMN HZXX FDRTVZNUDO EMKVRSQ GFQK, VP KFPDF, ZP WXHMXUXHXV ZF, VUMY LAVP FMRL, ONE PA VUM JDNTKGK OG UTENRPTU PTDV, PZT MQLN OGJJ DFRCSX.
It was a clever ruse, but I see right through it. Nice try, Scorpio.
I'm trying, but it's not working.
Maybe I'll leave it to more capable anons.
KS, saw it and I liked it. It felt like a bit more of a horror comedy than just straight horror, and there is an unexpected animated sequence in the middle of it, but over all I had a good time watching it. Krampus is not gonna be for everyone but I'm glad I saw it.
