I don't read comics, but I thought I'd chime in. I thought for sure when they cast Jesse that Lex would be played a lot like Zuckberg in The Social Network. Luthor of ye olde days was usually supposed to be a rich industrialist, right? So in the modern reimagining, shouldn't he have been a younger Silicon Valley CEO type? Regardless of whether or not that's how they should have played it, if seems like they're making him some goofy cartoon, which is retarded.

Very, very rarely, though he's been lucky in his adaptational portrayals. Ledger's was based on one his few good comic portrayals by using "One Bad Day" Joker from Killing Joke. Lex, outside of his shitty movie portrayals as a real estate salesman, is a far more nuanced character who often inspires readers to fall into the trap of partially agreeing with him.

Not entirely a fan of what I've seen from Eisenlex so far, though he's still, far and away, the best portrayal of the character we've seen on film; he's not ruining Lex's shitty reputation among casuals. Casuals voted that the Joker could beat him in the Injustice Gods Among Us polls only to express surprise at the fact that Lex is a super genius (while commenting on how dumb it was that powersuit Lex lost that fight). This portrayal will be the first on film to actually present him as such. It will vastly improve his reputation; if the man can create life in the form of shit like Doomsday then, for once, he'll actually seems like a worthy opponent for Superman.
