All Dogs Go to Heaven is the greatest animated movie of all time. Bar none. I dunno what is it about this movie that I love so much since this was the Magnum Opus of Don Bleuth.

>Burt Reynolds voice acting for Charlie. Charlie Sheen did a pretty good job in the sequel but sir Reynolds is GOAT
>That animation
>The background
>The cinematography

Even the musical numbers are great.
>>
>>77937610
eh. sappy, grungy, gross-looking.. I get why it was important back then but it does nothing for me. most bluth doesn't.
>>
>>77937804

Have you become so accustomed to shitty overly glossy CG-shit that Disney and Pixar shit out every year

Ever since Toy Story there hasn't been THE pinnacle CG movie that has been nearly as impressive as anything ever made in 2D format

Face the facts. You only think its dirty because you set the bar absurdly low.

Nah senpai. if I had to pick the best Land Before Time it be the one where they had to go to that island that was overpopulated with T-Rexes.

No it's not, you dumbass. It is way too weird to be loved by everyone. It has way too many quirky moments to be a mainstream success.

I like it, but it's not perfection for everyonw.

NIMH is one of those movies that was way better as a kid. Watch it now and some parts are so cheesy and bad. Especially anything with the bird.

That was among the most fun, but the first was a better film.

If we can only discuss western shit than I guess I will go with Who Framed Roger Rabbit

To be fair, the movie version is fucking bogged down with clunky as fuck exposition/dialog. The worst part is it's something you don't realize until you watch the movie with someone else. I usually love the movie, but I watched it recently with a friend and I cringed through most of it, and felt a compulsion to apologize for suggesting we watch it.
>>
>>77943535
>>77944563
Well, it IS a 90 minute music video of public domain music, however beautifully animated.

Whether or not it's a masterpiece I'm not going to comment, but I will say that it should be required viewing for aspirant animators.

I think akira is one of the few animated movies where I can understand people flat out hating it

I went in unbiased and gotta say I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought it would. didn't read the anime prior to watching the movie but the last quarter of the movie was a goddamn clusterfuck. I don't remember whether it was because of pacing issues or because the story just became random at a certain point
>>

I watched it last year for the first time, even the cheesy moments were nice. Solid 7/10.

Somewhere out there
Beneath the pale moonlight
Someone's thinking of me
And loving me tonight

Somewhere out there
Someone's saying a prayer
That we'll find one another
In that big somewhere out there

And even though I know how very far apart we are
It helps to think we might be wishing on the same bright star
And when the night wind starts to sing a lonesome lullaby
It helps to think we're sleeping underneath the same big sky

Somewhere out there
If love can see us through
Then we'll be together
Somewhere out there
Out where dreams come true

>>77952487

I fucking love you guys. Cats Don't Dance made no mistakes ever. Every line was quotable, every character was fun, and every song was enjoyable.
Emperor's New Groove is one of my favorite movies to re-watch hands down. It felt like the writers had so much more freedom with all of the jokes and the story's direction.
>>
>>77943208
Is it better than Happy Feet? Not that I think that's a cinematic masterpiece. I haven't seen either.

How the fuck is she smart? Did Jonathan's spooge introduce the brain serum into her body? And did he fuck the screw, too? She was pretty sharp as well.

>>

>perfection = appealing to everyone ever
PLEB DETECTED

>>77957487
I think the idea was that the animals have always been able to talk to each other and have their basic little society, but the NIMH serum brought the rats closer to humans in terms of inventing new technologies and manipulating the environment.

>>77956933
I've always liked Happy Feet. The story may have its flaws, but the animation quality is spectacular. I also admire George Miller for putting provocative and even controversial ideas into his family films. Plus being the autistic robot that I am, I can sort of identify with Mumble's plight.
>>
>The background
Looking at the movie on GIS, those backgrounds really aren't anything to write home about.
>>
>>77967729
And as far the cinematography goes, it looks mostly like standard cartoon-style filmmaking.
>>
The Secret of NIMH
The Land Before Time
All Dogs Go to Heaven
The Brave Little Toaster
The Brave Little Toaster to the Rescue
Bambi
Bambi II
Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island
The Iron Giant
Charlotte's Web
>>
>>77943166
Unfair almost because the source material was so good and it was a very animation-friendly story.

The animation however was very disappointing.

It's not very fucking often that I wish a story had been handled by Disney, but . . .
>>
>>77969638
You say that like Disney had good animation.

>Surfs Up

I just saw this for the 1st time. It really good. How da fuck did i never hear of it before??? (Another newly discovered gem: "Over The Hedge").
>>
>>77969989
I don't dislike Surf's Up or Over the Hedge but I found them both incredibly bland and not that interesting of a premise. Still watchable, just nothing worth an accolade.
>>
>>77963550
Smart guy, huh? Okay, explain why Little Mermaid did better in theaters. Without resorting to creating conspiracies involving Evil Disney.
>>
>>77969989
I watched this as a teen with my dad and younger cousin, and re-watching it, I liked it, certainly better than Open Season but I liked Cars a bit better.
My favorite animated film of 2006 was Tales from Earthsea.
>>
>>77937610
>Even the musical numbers are great.
No. I used to watch this movie ALL THE TIME and the only song I can recall is "you can't keep a good dog down". All of the songs were completely forgettable (and horribly written).

HOWEVER, still one of my favorites because of how unique it is. It's got a solid story and great animation.
>>
>>77969741
Way better than whatever shithole cellar in faggy Britain made Watership Down.
>>
Sleeping Beauty.
There's nothing you could do to improve that movie. It's perfect.
>>
I've yet to find a flaw.
>>
>>77974352
Considering the entire team that worked on it had never animated a movie before, they did the best they could. I happen to think the bad animation makes the film creepier.
>>
>>77974445
Animation is a little dated, still good tho.
>>
>>77937610
I absolutely love that film.

>dat scene where he has to choose between his watch or the girl

And then that wonderful ending scene. Always moves me to tears.
>>
>>77974445

Personally, I'm hoping that this gets a live adaptation one day.

IRL Phantasm, anyone?
>>
