Did Helspont ever return in the new 52 after his early appearances?

I know he comes back after that first story in that Supes book but it was in some lackluster title like Supergirl or something where he didn't do much.

They mostly forgot about him. One of the writers had a big plan for him, but pissed off another writer, who later killed him off (sort of, it was off screen and Helspont's body is probably the strongest host in the universe, and even if destroyed he can just find a new one). So we'll probably see him again. There are rumors they're going to try some new stories and some people were thinking WildCATS might make a full reappearance.

I'm not going to lie and say everyone wants daemonites back or there's millions of fans chanting for them, but they pop up fairly often on pretty much every /co/ related site and it's likely someone will do something with them.

He showed up in Red Hood and the Outlaws and he got beaten like a punk. I don't remember quite well what happened. He had Starfire's sister as his bitch and was readying an army to finally take over the world, and the trio MCs took out his army while a villain of the comic that got cured off-panel reconfigured a weapon Helspont had and used to beat him. It was all done in one issue.

He was Stronger, faster, smarter, had better enhanced senses, more experience. He simply stated something along the lines of "I can kill you at any time but you are a useful idiot. Keep protecting earth in my absence because I will come back and farm it later"

Goku? yea. They even pointed out that goku is only situationally powerful. If he is not focusing on channeling ki to his defenses he can easily be hurt by conventional weapons. DBZ characters are really just powerful energy manipulators and not that physically powerful unless they focus on it.

Actually now that I think about i, how did the new 52 superman compare to the others?

They very rarely put a number to it. In all star superman they put out the number " 200 quintillion tons" after he was powered up by extra yellow solar energy. That is a small fraction of what the new 52 one could do.
