Merry Christmas again /co/.
Good morning anons!
Do you guys have any special tradition for this time of the year? I always watchHigh School Musicalon the first day of the year. And every cartoon movie I find on TV.
I was looking through my files looking for things I had saved from last christmas, and found this. I didn't save you wrote it which sucks. Hopefully whoever wrote it is around this year.
Again, I am not the person who wrote this.
>'Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the board,
>Not a poster was stirring. It was dead as Ted Kord.
>All month, Anons had been fighting about Feminism and Tumblr,
>It seemed like the whole board could stand to be humbler.
>When what, to my tired, bloodshot eyes should appear,
>But a /co/ gifting thread, filling Anons with cheer!
>Lists being posted, stories new and old,
>While on Amazon, books were being chosen and sold.
>From Santaseid's greatness to Santa Down Under's heart,
>Anons, Trips and Namefriends all rushed to take part.
>Now Robin! Now Hunter! Now Skip, Dave and Züm!
>On Dan! On Scribs! On Tajador too!
>And anons old and young, who posted with haste,
>to see lists of others (and judge them for taste)
>Now, this heartfelt tradition spans more than one night,
>But all December long! Eh, it's close enough, right?
>Remember, gifting's good, no matter what you can afford
>It's always a good way to give back to the board
>And to end with a Classic, though it may seem a bit trite,
>Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

>ship ss package from alberta to ontario
>gets sent straight east to the destinations nearest big city, driven to the final location
>ship ss package from alberta to ohio
>gets sent to BC, down to San Francisco, all the way back across the country to Ohio
The fuck? I know they rely on mailing hubs and shit but surely there's a more streamlined location to amass stuff to that doesn't involve sending mail in the completely wrong direction? No wonder shipping is so ludicrously expensive when it crosses the border.

It's always nice when Frank drops by for the holidays.

Shipping shit is crazy. It's just generally cheaper to route shipments to where the bulk is sent and processing centers exist and then distribute from there. In our heads that's a straight line to the destination, but in reality it's a weird ass blob.

You guys should read about the chat messaging software wars. Micorsoft worked really hard to get MSN messenger to be a top product and they decided the best way to do that would be interop so you could use AOL's service with their software. just wanted to share something if it's night round where you are and you're in the mood for a drink.

I thought they wereokay. I'm a sucker for alternate universe stories like HoM and Green Arrow in general. World War Hulk was my least favorite of the bunch.
I've spent way more posts than I expected defending that list.
Have some holiday music.

Not really; my wishlist is mostly anthologies of public domain detective stories. People have gifted me old-timey detective novels, at least one Star Wars EU novel and a Tenacious D album.
>tfw you're not sure whether or not to post your list, because you're not at home over Christmas
Long story short, I'm spending Christmas with my older brother's fiance's family, including her daughter from a previous marriage; cute kid - I got her two Tiny Titans trades last year, and I gave her the third trade for her birthday.Still haven't bought her the fourth one yet.
Bro, fiance and adorable infant all came down last year to our folks. Everyone had a lovely time, so fair's fair, y'know? The only drawbacks are I won't be at home from 23rd-27th (I think) and I've got to buy table presents for at least 7 people.
>>77929145
At the risk of sounding obvious... pic related?
>>77929145
There's Absolute Green Lantern/Green Arrow releasing at the end of the month if interested.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7_udO2jo6k
have some vaguely christmas music. I first heard this on a compilation VHS that had a chip 'n' dale christmas episode, a goofy/donald skiing episode and the dance of the flowers from fantasia on it.
does anybody here remember that tape? Did anybody have it?
>Netflix no longer has Muppets Christmas Carol
Thank god, they had that horrible edited version that skips past Scrooge's girlfriend
Happy Holidays /co/ I'm going to storytime my favorite issue of Hellblazer for you all. Enjoy.
>>77929509
>>77929516
What /co/ related Christmas specials are you looking forward to watch for the first time or, or just rewatch in general?
>>77929535
>>77929543
A few years back /co/ watched The Year Without a Santa Claus together, that was a good time. The Rankin Bass Jack Frost is one of my favorites
>>77929543
Jingle All The Way, son.
>>77929564
Think we may be able to do a similar thing this year?
Favorite Special for me was the Ed edd' Eddy special with Ed visiting the kids houses since he peeked at his gifts ahead of time and only got clothes, In the end he found the sack of Mr Claus and attempted to steal it.
>>77929543
SCROOGED
>>77929543
Some of the Simpsons specials.
>Now, let's see... this'll make three Christmases I saved versus eight I ruined... two were kind of a draw...
>>77929643
I certainly hope so, but I have no idea on how to go about setting that kind of thing up
>>77929673
Hahah, that was a later season, but solid lines.
>>77929419
Seems odd for Netflix to lose that, especially during the holidays.
>>77929799
True, maybe it'll pop up somewhere else.
>>77929543
the Doctor Who christmas special is less of a tradition, more of a religious ritual. Also the community christmas specials, maybe Hey Arnold in private and almost certainly Nightmare before christmas with my friend.
>>77929825
Which one?
>>77929825
What'd you think of last years Doctor Who Special? Nick frost was great as Santa.
Oh boy here it comes
>>77929850
I think both the community specials were pretty great so most likely we'll watch them back to back.
>>77929863
BWAAAHH/10
not bad, but damn did it feel like it was trying to out-inception inception at some points. Still, Nick Frost was great, I can definitely agree on that.
Aww
Ho Ho Ho...wdy everyone I've got all of the lists up to this point and the pastebins are updated and after digging deeper into the purchase history on some lists (because Amazon isn't posting everything in order) I was able to pull a few more people out of the ungifted list.
We are up to 65 gifted anons!!! That's a 48% gifted rate
Shameless list posting for the thread 1NVJ8QWRBXRRK
>>77925438
you can get your friend to share his prime, you'll only get the free shipping side of it but that's how I have free shipping.
>>77929863
That he was, and I rather liked the mind fuckery that happened with the sleep bits. I can't wait for this years episode, they're bringing River back for it.
>>77925479
I'll look through lists and if I see something that I really liked or that I'm a huge fan of then I'll gift it to them. I've sent out several of Kingdom Come, Prophet, Muppet movies, and Gotham by Gaslight over the years.
>>77925847
good change it was 3rd party sellers jumping their price due to x-mas shoppers.
>>77929667
Bill! Fucking! Murray! I know fucking isn't his middle name but great actor and odd man.
Awww shit, anon, thank you so much! I recently started running, which is one of the few times it's socially acceptable to wear nerdy shirts, so I look forward to spreading hope with me next time I do a race. This is awesome. If you're out there, I really appreciate it.
Also the batch of Green Lantern comics I bought for myself came today. Good day all around.
Also still doing this thing:
For those of you who weren't here the last couple of years, I did various Christmas contests and would gift someone who I arbitrarily chose as the winner. I intend to keep that tradition alive this year.
I decided to get started with a (relatively) big challenge: Write a Christmas story featuring /co/ characters. Maybe Lex Luthor decides he hates Santa because he challenges human superiority. Maybe the Flash has to sub in for Santa one night and deliver presents around the world (has that been done? That must have been done before). It doesn't have to be long, just something short and simple, but the more Christmas special-y the better. If you're a drawfag and want to draw it out instead, that's fine too.
Send your submissions to [email protected]. Or you can post them in the thread, but just make sure I see them. I'll give everyone until Sunday afternoon to put something together, so don't feel rushed. At the end I'll share them with the thread and crown a winner. Make sure to include your wishlist with your submission.
>>77930018
Halfway done man
>>77929419
Speaking of Netflix didn't that Bill Murray centric Christmas special "Murray Christmas" release already? How is it?
>>77929543
I haven't seen it in a while but the Beavis and Butt-Head take on "It's a Wonderful Life" is a total classic.
The End, may you be as lucky as John Constantine this Christmas /co/mrades!
Z41JYHV8A537
>>77930045
Didn't watch it, and I like Bill Murray...but no way I'm watching something with that horrible pun haha
>>77929970
Just wanted to say thanks for the effort Elusive. It wouldn't be happening without you.
Reposting my list number since I don't see it in either list, 3IS0M9YGDF7ZP
Any other Southern Hemisphere /co/mrade roasting in its own sweat because of the heat? We're up to 34C here and everything in the TV is 'murrikans with comfy sweaters and warm cocoa, and like every year it's driving me nuts.
>>77930018
I'm a good way through mine. do you take .odt files or should I put all the text in the e-mail when I'm done? worst case scenario I'll just send you a link to a pastebin.
>>77930096
Don't put it on pastebin, no story should have to be read on through that site.
Just make a gdoc.
Oh and for people that don't know Amazon does give a free month of their Prime subscription and it's available once a year. So if you haven't had Prime in the last 12 months you can sign up for a free month, just remember to go in and turn off the auto renew in the account to keep from getting charged for it. And even if you do get charged Amazon will give you a full refund as long as you don't use it more then 3 times after the charge happens, and with enough stink they'll give you a refund for it even if you used it a dozen times and wait months to call.
>>77930083
Happy to help out, just kinda fell into the job back in 2011 when the threads seemed to be mostly random and no lists were being kept.. but with the track record of this year being only a week in, today being the 9th thread and 7th day, and the 48% gifted rate I think we can get everyone this year.
I know SDU has been a saint and done like 22+ gifts but I think once some of the random anons that have stuff coming get theirs they'll pop back on and gift to others.
>>77930094
Yep looks like I had missed ya, I'll be adding you in.
>>77929543
Not a Christmas special, but I always look forward to TREEVENGE! Actually, I always enjoy Mickey's Christmas Carol.
>>77929564
I watched R/B Jack Frost when it was on the other day. Love all the R/B classics.
>>77929590
I've watched Jingle All The Way twice already. One time I think was on the Disney channel and they cut out the part where he gets drunk with the reindeer.
>>77929970
Yeah, that's what I'm doing. I log into his account and use my credit card to pay. I was just saying there won't be any giftnotes because I think they'll have his full name on them and he'd probably be against that, lol.
I don't think I've posted my list in a bit so: VJ9BT1OBNF7
And if anyone has a scrib request lay em on me!
>>77930177

>>77929873
>that grin the Lord of the Dance has on the last panel

This upsets me.
>>77930210
One of these days, I'm going to save a buttload of cash and just give a whole bunch of anons gifts. But for this month I can only spare one or two gifts.
Still, it's one or two more gifts, so that's always good.
>>77930315
I know what you mean, I'm gonna be doing a bit this year but I'm stuck cutting back from what I've done before. But the pastebin lists don't expire so if you really want to you can gift people in the new year... may be seen as creepy but it's an option.
>>77930295
I've never been a full prime subscriber, but I did do the free trial ages ago. I tried to see if I could do another trial, but it won't let me. It's cool though, I'll look into that household thing and if it doesn't work I can just keep using his account. I appreciate the info though, thanks!
>>77930315
Anything is better than nothing. I'm more willing to gift multiple cheap items for an anon instead of singular large value things. I've just had a kid and am being made redundant on new years day but I'm sure as hell going to be gifting some fine fellows and femmes this year.
>>77930405
Pro-tip for you Anons still in college. See if your school allows you to make EDU aliases. You can generate infinite prime by making new EDU aliases and Amazon accounts.
>>77930233
Might be my favorite part of entire issue, I love how Chas' wife is this mysterious figure who isn't revealed until almost 7 years into the series.
KH5WB08TYKXR
I hope you all have a heartwarming December
>>77930405
Oh damn, they must have changed that in the last 10 months, sorry. The household thing should work, I've got prime from my roommate.
>>77930464
I haven't read into it yet, but do you and the other person need to have the same address? It would make sense as to why they call it amazon 'household'. If that's the case, we don't live together.
>>77930310
If it makes you feel better, they keep in the moment where a child calls Booster a fag in broadcast, presumably because it's nearly inaudible unless you're really listening for it.
>>77930506
Oh Disney never change. By the way can we just take a moment and say how criminal it is that Sinbad isn't in any other Christmas specials?
>>77930494
Household shouldn't require same address. I'm living separately from my parents, and I have free shipping on my family sub-account.
>>77930494
That could be another new thing, you used to be able to share with coworkers. I doubt it requires the same address though. it does say "Both adults must be present to create a Household."
Before it just required the main account holder's email address, name, and birthday
"In order to protect the security and privacy of your Amazon account and to prevent fraudulent misuse of Amazon Household, we require that both adults be present to verify the second adult's Amazon account. If the second adult does not have an Amazon account, they can create a new one."
nothing about same address in the small print
>>77930535
Sinbad is a fucking national treasure. From force ghosting on American Dad to being Mr Smiley on Steven Universe, he always brings a good energy to his projects. I actually watched him in Comedy Bang Bang on Netflix earlier today as Noel DeSoil Holyfield, and he makes a pretty great tv scientist.
>>77930575
Yeah, I saw that bit. When you said you share with your roommate, word association with 'household' led me to believe you might have to be at the same address, but seems like you don't. I'm going to check it out right now. Thanks again.
>>77930494
No. I share with my parents. It does require sharing credit card info for certain things though (like video renting) so just make sure it's someone you trust.
>>77930648
But it says you can choose what you share, so just choosing the shipping should keep any other things from crossing over
>>77925383
Lets all take a moment to think about the fact that a few dozen kids were running and playing around them.
God damn it Frank.

On a different note to day at work I could almost hear the cries of thousands of little kids as I watched a decorative display for Frozen get crushed into a bale of cardboard. Olaf even got wedged between the door and the crusher and kinda did a sad slow sinking motion akin to the end of T2.
>>77930884
Whats more fun is that the people having our jobs aren't contracted to work holidays nor the full amount of hours we're on. So we're getting fucked by being forced to work the time with a smaller team, with the axe over our heads, complete with new people who know fuck all.
It's cool though. The company is crashing and burning at a spectacular rate. I can't say who I work for but let's just say it's a high profile security/anti virus company and our stock is fucking plummeting HARD as a result of bullshit decisions such as this.
But it's cool. Times change, things move on. Sure it's shit, but it could be a lot worse. The company was good to me and it allowed me to gift a lot of anons in these threads in the past. They paid me stupid money and bonus after bonus. I just made it an ambition to give a little back every year with it.

I'll keep my eyes on the news to see if any high profile antivirus companies go down in the new year.
>>77931174
the mental image that's going with that is just fucking glorious. I'm imagining Olaf sinking while the T2 theme plays and it's just golden.
>>77931281
That's always going to be the dream, isn't it? But I'm an author part time and I have titles on Amazon. I'm going to use the redundancy money to gave it a shot full time. I have the opportunity to live the dream! I doubt it'll happen but if I never try, I'll never know.
Anyone excited for Marvel's holiday issue this year? I'm hopeful that the Kamala bits will outweigh the Gwenpool.

Number one thing about tracking is that it's done by the shipper unless is amazon fresh doing the shipping. If it jumps around like that it was likely put in the wrong cargo container. Or tracking numbers get reused so you could see that it starts in the wrong state then jumps to right place.

Like I said I was never there but I did work in a local lumber mill of similar size over night and I had to wear as little as possible during the summer and almost skiing equipment in the winter. What I heard about the heating was a few large natural gas heaters near offices, breakrooms, and bathrooms then no cooling just a few large fans.

It's kinda the single greatest thing this medium has ever produced

I had something similar. my tracking for a recent shipment was as follows:
Monday.
>dispatched from nottingham, 8AM.
>Arrived at Nottingham, 7PM
Tuesday.
>dispatched from Nottingham, 8AM
>Arrived at Nottingham, 7PM
Wednesday.
>Dispatched from Nottingham, 8AM
>Delayed - the carrier has rescheduled delivery for the next working day as the business is closed on saturdays
>Staurdays.
wtf, amazon?

ex amazon employee here
Yeah they're pretty bad overall. But, for a job that requires virtually no skill and no education it pays well. The puts per hour are pretty high, though not as high as walmart or target distribution. The trick is keeping up with the size of the facility, like the other anon said, these centers are huge. There were times when I'd be so far from the break room that when they would call the fifteen minute break (which they loved to remind you was not mandatory, but a gift from management) , and after the walk to the break room you would only have 7 minutes or so to sit and relax.

Embarrasingly, I'm not sure I ever read anything by Eisner.

>Breaks are not mandatory
Tough shit man. I never envy delivery center guys. You're like the tech support of a company but worse. You have to meet promises management makes on a scale that is staggering and God help you if something outside your control breaks the machine too, because they made the promise to get it done.

I saw original art for a couple of pages of it in person a few years ago, and it's still the closest I've ever come to a religious experience.

Oh yea, they only make fulfillment centers in states with flimsier employment laws. Like here in Oregon the two 15 minuet breaks and 30 minuet lunch are mandatory, if you work during them the company can be greatly fined as well as you being reprimanded by your employer.
Also damn didn't expect the opening of S3E9 of Agents of SHIELD. That was sudden and dark.

Yeah, that kind of attitude towards business is why I left the place. They called the entire line over to talk about a process that only two people on our shift are allowed to use, just so those two could cover their @SS and say 'we told the line to do this and not that, its not our fault.' I asked to stay at the line so i could keep feeding it to get a head start, and as I pointed out that process would never pertain to me. They still forced me to listen to their 15 minute speech about how difficult their job is and how we should slow down when they ask. I refused to leave the area until i learned something vital to my position. They called a boss over to try and talk me down, but I instantly asked for him to walk me out.
