Do you guys have any special tradition for this time of the year? I always watch
High School Musicalon the first day of the year. And every cartoon movie I find on TV.
I was looking through my files looking for things I had saved from last christmas, and found this. I didn't save you wrote it which sucks. Hopefully whoever wrote it is around this year.
Again, I am not the person who wrote this.
>'Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the board,
>Not a poster was stirring. It was dead as Ted Kord.
>All month, Anons had been fighting about Feminism and Tumblr,
>It seemed like the whole board could stand to be humbler.
>When what, to my tired, bloodshot eyes should appear,
>But a /co/ gifting thread, filling Anons with cheer!
>Lists being posted, stories new and old,
>While on Amazon, books were being chosen and sold.
>From Santaseid's greatness to Santa Down Under's heart,
>Anons, Trips and Namefriends all rushed to take part.
>Now Robin! Now Hunter! Now Skip, Dave and Züm!
>On Dan! On Scribs! On Tajador too!
>And anons old and young, who posted with haste,
>to see lists of others (and judge them for taste)
>Now, this heartfelt tradition spans more than one night,
>But all December long! Eh, it's close enough, right?
>Remember, gifting's good, no matter what you can afford
>It's always a good way to give back to the board
>And to end with a Classic, though it may seem a bit trite,
>Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
well, that was really nice.
Here's my wishlist 1UBA43GL1TQQV (co.uk)
And since I just got a massive tax return and only spent half of it on comics yesterday, I just gifted these two UK accounts:
Do you have the Larfleeze one from few years back?
Shame, I only have the picture that accompanied it.
Don't really have cash, but I figure I should storytime for you guys if you'd like me to. This is probably one of my favorite Christmas themed stories. This is from Captain Marvel vol.4 (Genis happens to be my favorite Cap Marvel iteration.) Hope you guys enjoy.
That about wraps it up, folks. Thanks for tuning in if you did. Marry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
There was a whole lot more X-Mas stuff in this digest then I expected
Haha, I'm just glad that two anons fell within my rather meager price range
I want that coat.
I need it.
Oh wow, someone actually saved that? I'm pretty sure that was my handiwork, as I distinctly remember chuckling to myself when writing the line about Ted.
Speaking of last year, has anyone seen Christmas Robin around recently?
Alright, last one for right now - there's two more winter stories in this thing, but let's save those for later.
I knew it was you who wrote that.
Everyone loves Jughead.
Morning folks! Here's my code once more. Merry Christmas to one and all! 297MIGOM4JLT0
Oooh, that's a good pic! I'm gonna have to save it!
Glad to see these threads up again, might as well story time one of my favorite Christmas comics
and drop this off while I'm here 1E3AR0WCCFIRG
Theme of the story time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwSpEQ1p-WI
This is all canon, I don't care what anyone says
If you take on the Grasshopper title you're guaranteed a bad time
Hope everyone is doing fine.
Oh screw it, let's finish this Jughead digest up
Jughead and the Gang get Cabin Fever in this one
And that's the last one that I can honestly say is "winter related".
I'll try and find some more if ya'll liked it for a later date
Hey friends, I do the crossword at my campus newspaper and was thinking of doing a /co/-themed one to decide who I'm gifting. However, I can probably only gift a Canadian because our dollar is doing so terribly. Would there still be any interest?
What's up, merry people? Jump for joy because Genos brought home some CHRISTMAS COLONEL!
I remember that! It was and still is excellent.
Oh hey, Italy friend? I'm interested in getting some books from there but ordering individually from amazon.it=shipping hell. But if I could work something out with someone there, I'd be happy to hit your wishlist/send money/whatever. I'll be hanging in these threads.
Time to Frank.
Back to School was great. I still love his library brawl.
Sending out some cheer, we can take
off the list.
S15SRE7JELXX, good luck on getting the trade of Rucka's Punisher #2, I've been waiting on backorder with that thing for almost two years now. C7ZN7GKHIZWX, 252M5UHDA89FT, 2MOV0MGY5304H wanted to send to you originally, but you had no shipping addresses.
By the way...214YKS89EZX8Z has been served some justice.
Would you let your kid sit on this Santa's lap?
Geez, each snowman had one?
>ship ss package from alberta to ontario
>gets sent straight east to the destinations nearest big city, driven to the final location
>ship ss package from alberta to ohio
>gets sent to BC, down to San Francisco, all the way back across the country to Ohio
The fuck? I know they rely on mailing hubs and shit but surely there's a more streamlined location to amass stuff to that doesn't involve sending mail in the completely wrong direction? No wonder shipping is so ludicrously expensive when it crosses the border.
41XVB5DB3C2U can be taken off the ungifted list as well!
I'm using my friend's prime account to send stuff, so I'm not adding the notes so you don't get something with his name on it. Just know it was sent from me with love.
He's a business professional.
It's always nice when Frank drops by for the holidays.
Usually I just pick random lists off the pastebin and if I see something cool in the list I gift it to them, usually something I myself have enjoyed in the past and want to share with another anon
Just now I randomly grabbed some lists from the ungifted pastebin and took a gander. A couple things caught my eye, so I picked them. I'll look sometimes when people post theirs in the thread too. Even if they've been gifted, it's nice to know they're sticking around and spreading the cheer with us.
Thanks for that KS, and to all the other storytimers. As always, this scrib's dedicated to you guys.
Shipping shit is crazy. It's just generally cheaper to route shipments to where the bulk is sent and processing centers exist and then distribute from there. In our heads that's a straight line to the destination, but in reality it's a weird ass blob.
Incredibly depressing and pretty lonely.
Happy Hulk is here for you brother.
Anyone is welcome to message me on AIM if they just wanna talk about whatever (warning on talking about comics, I may not shut up if you choose that.)
dr.rotinaj on AIM
Thanks, but personally, it's just something I gotta get over. I've seen friends today, I've vented with them, I've hugged them, but even though I've got a boyfriend, I always feel kind of incomplete. He's aromantic so I may as well have none, and I always feel so unloveable.
Those little flower icons, you know?
I also fondly remember Usenet before it got routed through Google. It was full of kooks and shitposting, but even those were of a higher quality than you get now in comment sections.
You guys should read about the chat messaging software wars. Micorsoft worked really hard to get MSN messenger to be a top product and they decided the best way to do that would be interop so you could use AOL's service with their software. What followed is a war of them going back and forth reverse engineering AOL's software.
i feel too bad to post my list cause i don't really want any of the /co/ stuff
Whoa now, this is no place for that, but it's no place for the other thing either. We're here to spread cheer! Not bad feelings.
You can still post it. You'll more likely to get a /co/ related item, but you might get one that's not. I gifted someone Cabin in the Woods bluray a year or two ago, so it's not always /co/ related.
I fucking love you guys! I've been feeling down lately because I have a ton of work to do and I just got a knock on my door with two comics!
Thank you kind anons -
Low volume 1 and Andre the Giant: Life and Legend
Forgot my image
>mfw chew vol 1 and then 3 right after
I love these threads.
I finally found this again! I need to organize my folders so badly.
Ashen's advent calendar has been great this year so far:
A 9/10 musical that would be 10/10 but the third daughter is a literal nobody and her romance is lighter than a feather.
Seriously, couldn't give her and her fiance a song?
I'm trying to write a thing for that write contest wotsit and I want some background music, but i also feel in the mood to explore some jazz.
could any kind anons recommend some good jazz artists I could hit up on spotify? Instrumental for preference but I'll take anything you think's good.
Here's a favorite of mine
Every song on this album is in a somewhat unusual time signature, and I can kind of try to talk through them if you want.
did I do it right? I messed with the settings for a few minutes
get my paycheck on Monday
I'll gift a bunch anons on the condition they want unique things, like if I haven't seen it on a shelf thread, I'll getchu it,
the season's not only about giving physical gifts butt emotional experiences too
I listen to the Whiplash soundtrack while I skate
its pretty guuud
Thanks for not gifting me the Denver Broncos Mr. Scorpio! You have good timing, I'm going out of town today so I got the package right before I left.
The cryptos are real fun, I hope I can keep doing them, they're getting harder and everyone else is getting faster!
It's been a couple of threads, better post my list again:
Is winter making anyone else really fucking sleepy?
I think I'm gonna take a nap, it's my second one today.
It's what the /co/mrade wanted. Who am I to judge?
well damn. I never thought /co/ had such a high concentration of jazz fans. guess you learn something new every day. currently going through a compilation of Hank Mobley, as recommended by >>77927608
seriously, I might actually have to buy this album. This is some seriously chilled groove going on. I mean hell, I usually dig the metal scene, but this is just perfect.
Finally, it's not particularly christmasy, but here, have a webm I made a few days back. webm related is just about how cosy I feel right now.
not necessarily. seeing as we're all on the same board most of us will have something /co/ on ours somewhere. Even if you don't, then nobody's going to begrudge you something non-/co/ if you want it for christmas.
just wanted to share something if it's night round where you are and you're in the mood for a drink.
get some honey wine or mead and heat it, add spices if you want and put a dash of spiced rum in there. I had it a couple of days ago at the german market and I'll be damned if it wasn't one of the nicest seasonal drinks I've had.
And while we're on food/drink, what's a particularly nice christmas dinner you've had? Last year I made a pork shoulder in cider and roasted apples and my girlfriend wrapped christmas lights around her big jumper and did a Mabel impression. It's the little things, anons.
Depends on the person potentially gifting you, I made mine /co/-themed because I like comics a great deal and I've been coming to this board since 09.
Don't forget. You're here forever.
That and Amazon.de only does free shipping on books so I'm good with having only /co/ntent on there, I don't want to burden another with any potential extra shipping costs that might arise from having random stuff on there.
They can be whatever. A few threads ago someone gifted a toy gorilla off of someone's wishlist. It mostly depends on the gifter whether or not they want to get you anything at all.
Being European, I choose Europe accounts, parooze what's within a reasonable prize range and choose what I find appealing enough. It doesn't necessarily have to be /co/ related, iirc, the first year we did this wish list thing I think I bought the island of dr moreau and some poetry books for someone.
For Drinks, I had a delicious hot toddy variant. I think the guy even put in some apple sauce because it legitimately tasted like hot apple pie.
A real weird dish I had was an asian-style turkey salad using the rest of the Christmas turkey. If you dry-fry turkey and add some Chinese five-spice, it tastes exactly like duck. I believe it was a Jamie Oliver dish. Highly - Recommended.
huh, that's interesting. There's an ice cream place near me that does a concoction that tastes EXACTLY like eating an ice cold apple crumble. If you're ever in Coventry, hit up Lickety Lick. You won't be disappointed.
Of those I read World War Hulk, House of M, and Quiver.
I thought they were
okay. I'm a sucker for alternate universe stories like HoM and Green Arrow in general. World War Hulk was my least favorite of the bunch.
I've spent way more posts than I expected defending that list.
Have some holiday music.
Is it just me, or does Mr. Immortal look kinda like the Badger?
Not really; my wishlist is mostly anthologies of public domain detective stories. People have gifted me old-timey detective novels, at least one Star Wars EU novel and a Tenacious D album.
>tfw you're not sure whether or not to post your list, because you're not at home over Christmas
Long story short, I'm spending Christmas with my older brother's fiance's family, including her daughter from a previous marriage; cute kid - I got her two Tiny Titans trades last year, and I gave her the third trade for her birthday.
Still haven't bought her the fourth one yet.
Bro, fiance and adorable infant all came down last year to our folks. Everyone had a lovely time, so fair's fair, y'know? The only drawbacks are I won't be at home from 23rd-27th (I think) and I've got to buy table presents for at least 7 people.
At the risk of sounding obvious... pic related?
have some vaguely christmas music. I first heard this on a compilation VHS that had a chip 'n' dale christmas episode, a goofy/donald skiing episode and the dance of the flowers from fantasia on it.
does anybody here remember that tape? Did anybody have it?
Happy Holidays /co/ I'm going to storytime my favorite issue of Hellblazer for you all. Enjoy.
A few years back /co/ watched The Year Without a Santa Claus together, that was a good time. The Rankin Bass Jack Frost is one of my favorites
Think we may be able to do a similar thing this year?
Favorite Special for me was the Ed edd' Eddy special with Ed visiting the kids houses since he peeked at his gifts ahead of time and only got clothes, In the end he found the sack of Mr Claus and attempted to steal it.
I certainly hope so, but I have no idea on how to go about setting that kind of thing up
