It is really strange and nonsensical that she was cast in the role of Wonder Woman
>Poor actress
>Not marketable
>Expected to carry a solo movie despite English not even being her first language

It's only logical to assume Israel have given Warner-Bros a significant investment in exchange for being allowed to cast her

Not even /pol/ shit, it is very likely what has happened and speaks volumes about the quality of the movie we'll be getting
>>
Fuck off /pol/kold
>>
>>77911412
Did you even read the post?

Logically, as a film studio, why cast her?
>>
It's possible - and hear me out - that she was the best actress for the job who auditioned. Producers don't just get their pics because they're Warner, and actresses don't just get parts for looking a certain way. Only the based porn industry works anywhere remotely that way.

It's very possible the producer had a list of actresses in mind for the role, but none of them wanted to do it or has time to do the role. So then they cast auditions and they liked what they saw in Gadot, or maybe the director or F&F put in a good word, or people in the Hollywood circles knows she's an okay actress who is easy to deal with.

It's also very possible that with the budget going nuts with this bevy of famous talent that they wanted somebody relatively untested for the role to keep costs in line.

That said, despite wonder woman being an A-List hero, she's not high stakes/high priority for Warner. Getting the most famous actress might not be a good move. The trend these days is to get low risk actors they can build a series on. High payout for low risk on untested titles.

Or she gives a really good blowjob, since the casting couch is real
>>
>>77911362
It's not like China/Korea didn't do the same with Avengers

Were you really expecting something other than some way to make money?
>>
She blew a̶w̶a̶y̶ everyone with her audition

So I doubt that's how she got the job
>>
>>77911362

Maybe her agent is just really really good at their job. If she has the right connections with the right people, she can get a job that she's not necessarily the best for. It's not what you know, it's who you know, right?

>>
Maybe she cried to her uncle on his daughter's wedding and he went to the producers to give them an offer they couldn't refuse. Next thing you know, the producers find the heads of their prized ferrets on their beds.
>>
I feel like /co/ just figured out that movie studios hire people for their looks and star power more then their talent.

>inb4 SHE'S NOT HOT

She is to the mainstream, and she has the advantage of looking vaguely "ethnic" so they can claim it's progressive.

>inb4 SHE'S NOT FAMOUS

She's coming off a supporting performance in one of the biggest franchises currently going.

I don't like her either, but this isn't some sort of Sherlockian mystery that needs to be solved. It's pretty fucking obvious.
>>
>>77919177
>for their looks and star power more then their talent
But she has no star power. She has no talent. She has only decent looks compared to other Hollywood stars. It honestly is curious as to why she was offered the part. Most I can think is that someone really liked her while working on the FF franchise and put in a good word for her.
>>
>>77911362

lets be honest, you don't need to be an great actor to play in a cape movie, I mean it would help but we have and had some of the greatest actors in cape-movies and it was hardly their best performance, it wasn't even average, some of them are not even playing and are just being themselfs.

At worst they didn't even get to show much range like most Marvel villians.

Israeli nepotism, yeah. It kinda is likely.

Gadot is by far the worst thing the recent trailer. You don't need to be A++ with a distinction when it comes to acting to play your average superhero, but when you see her standing next to Affleck and Cavill (who, likeable as they are, are not even the best actors - especially Cavill, who is a complete amateur), you realize just how poor an actress she is. Her poise, her expression, her delivery, it's all incredibly cringeworthy. Nothing about her is believable.

I don't care about how skinny she is, as WW has never been ripped mclargehuge (though she could stand to be a bit more robust; pretty sure my tiny Asian girlfriend could throw her around a bit as she is in OP's picture), she's just an extremely sub-par actor. And while, unlike a lot of people on here, I've got no problems with Jews, I think it was distasteful of her to show support for her government's actions and not acknowledge that they're shits. Israel and Hamas are equally a shit, but really, if you're going to be the face of a character like WW, I'd rather you didn't speak out in favor of a bunch of imperialist assholes.
>>
>>77911362
She's pretty, she's cheap, and you don't need to act to make a superhero show/film. Especially one that gets three films to build the character up before the solo flick. She's pretty (deal with it) and she's Mediterranean (you know, because Diana's Greek).

Either way, we won't know until the film comes out if she was a good choice or not. All this "not muh wondy" shit is annoying.

If you see the movie and it's shit and you say it's shit, that's an informed opinion worth discussing. If you haven't seen it, the only thing your appraisal is good for is deciding whether or not to spend your money on a ticket. And let's face it: you're seeing the movie. Also, her role is literally a cameo, she's most likely going to show up in the third act. I don't even know wtf it is someone like you would expect, it's not like she's the one writing the scripts and being told to stand in the middle action shots.

Difference being that one, he's an actual actor, and two, we've seen him get big and get small for roles. Gal, who is not an actress and is a model first, has done absolutely nothing to build any sort of muscle.

I hope this is satire of some kind.

Convincing.

Ah, the old "if you're not a master artist, you can't criticize muh pretty pictures!" argument. Let's add ANOTHER fallacy to your list. You've gotta catch 'em all, apparently.

Yeah so Chris Hemsworth and Scarlett Johansson are just the best actors around, right?

"Best actor for the role" =\= "Best actor". The above two perform wonderfully in their roles despite not being strong actors.
>>
What's even more strange and nonsensical is people doubting her when she's filming the solo movie RIGHT NOW

If she's shit someone would have said something a year ago! But hey internet guy says she sucks balls because her arm circumference isnt big enough

Hemsworth is fucking awful and has less presence than a block of wood.

It works both ways dumbass. There's 7 billion people in the world, and a decent chunk of it peruses this imageboard. You'd have to be all sorts of brain damaged to think only one person would ever be "defending" a celebrity, regardless of them being anything short of A-list.

Apparently far more than the people doing these movies. She's been in one franchise, fast and the furious, and she couldn't act or even speak right in those. I know you want to cry foul because people are criticizing your waifu, but it's common fucking sense to criticize someone who we know for a fucking fact can not act.
>>
>>77928245
It's actually a pretty easily definable term.

A convincing performance is one that lets the audience suspend their disbelief. They know that Ian is not Gandalf, or Bale is not Bruce Wayne, but if they perform convincingly, they create the illusion of such. An unconvincing performance is simply one where an actor has not achieved this - where their expression, or their tone, or their poise, seems out of place with the character or the mood they are trying to convey. For example, Gadot is trying to portray badass and ready to fight, and is simply coming off as awkward, with an expression that denotes nothing and pose that looks extremely ungainly.

>>77928262
He was pretty well known for being an extremely devoted weirdo ever since American Psycho. He wasn't a major star, but people knew him as 'that weird method guy'.

Lel does your arm hurt from reaching this hard?

>Judging someone's acting from an ex

Those movies aren't exactly meant to convey acting prowess. They're literally popcorn flicks where The Rock and Vin Diesel show off their muscles doing impossible stunts while walking away from burning buildings.

You're an incredible idiot if you actually think you can judge how good someone is from watching "Fast and Furious."

There was nothing convincing about Bale being Batman, not to me due to the retarded laryngitis voice as well as the horribly telegraphed fisticuffs he threw out. If it doesn't convince me in any way then you can't really claim that it's anything but a subjective term.

How many times do you need to be told that it's a cameo before it sinks through your thick skull?

Are you sure you're not that guy who was talking about Ben Affleck's eye movement in the unmasking scene? You sound as much a smartass wannabe as him. You don't know shit. Being in a trailer can't be counted as a "performance"

Whoever got cast, was always going to get backlash from fan boys from not being "muh wondie." This is the 2nd live-action Wonder Woman, and she's almost the same age as Batman and Superman who have had more than 5 iterations each on the big screen.

People don't even know what a live action Wonder Woman is meant to look like, other than Lynda Carter, and if we're going by proportions then Batman and Superman should look way bigger on the big screen compared to the roid masters they appear to be in the actual comics.

The fuck?

She's appearing in the film. She's having a prominent role in the final battle, too. It not being 'her' film doesn't mean she's not required to actually act.
>>
Not saying she isn't shoehorned in this film, but I personally can't call her performance shit until I actually here a line of dialogue. It would be more fair to give Jesse shit for his Lex
>>
>>77929014

The fact that she's filming a solo movie by herself right now and faggots like you are judging her from 10 second cameos goes to show that you're the ones who don't know wtf you're talking about.

How about you wait till the movie actually comes out? I know you'll still bitch about her performance but at least then you'll have actual fuel instead of saying stupid shit like, "She's not convincing enough in this 2 second shot of her"

She's cheap and has nothing much on her calendar and they were looking to hire someone fast who was capable of appearing in a support role in a movie that already had to find money for 2 leads and a very expensive director. Since her pay is going to go up with every sequel she appears in, it's better to start with someone whose management know they can't ask top dorra.

Also>>77911698

except

>the casting couch is real

Not at this scale. In fact, they hire people specifically to prevent that kind of shit, because it's risking hundreds of millions of dollars of other people's money to get the same effect as jacking it in your tiny trailer. Besides which, you don't do one audition to like one guy (or group of guys, we all know you're going to say it) one time and get this kind of part. You get one audition after another until everybody is sure you can do the job. Sometimes they are wrong, sometimes they are right but you just don't put the effort in on set, sometimes they are right and you do put the effort in but the editing fucks up and your best moments get lost in the shuffle, months after all the sets were struck.

What tends to happen is that people *say* "I can totally see you in this part HINT HINT" and then after they get what they want - five minutes in a closet with a spooky skeleton, or whatever - they have no reason to call. You can't sign a contract in semen. Except if you're OSS, but they disbanded.

The other reason (that you missed) is that she may have the same agency/management as one of the other stars. Block booking is good for agencies/managers (which are technically supposed to be separate entities), and it solves a lot of headaches for productions because it can work out cheaper for a number of reasons.
>>
>>77923903
You misunderstand. There's no reason to cast someone after they've already slept with you.

In the very rare instances I can think of, it's been because someone is literally sleeping with the director (but also has fans and can carry a scene, such as Mrs Burton) or someone else on the productions they work on. Sometimes even after these relationships end (and we are talking relationships, not casual sex), the individuals continue to work together, sometimes they don't. That's really down to circumstance and personalities.

That's not really the same thing people mean when they talk about "the casting couch", though.

>>77924010
Everyone in LA is a stick insect. The women are all trying to compete on looks before they fade (basically if you haven't won awards or got lead roles by 25, you're dead). Even big name leads can end up decades later running the catering for shitty b-movies.

It's a little bit like being in the military. They're looking for very specific skillsets and physicalities at the start, but as you progress in years you need to pick up a trade, or you'll be dumped out with nothing much to show for it but a ditty bag full of furry porn and calluses on your dick and hands. Fucking infantry pricks.

Gadot
Olga Kurylenko
Emily Ratajkowski
Elodie Yung who is Elektra now
Elena Anaya who I'd be pumped for actually

Gadot was the first choice for Faora, but she passed on it since she was pregnant and Traue got the role

They didn't "literally fund" it, they gave them free use of uniforms, vehicles, and helicopters because it helps promote their image.

On the other hand, the military pulled their support for Marvel since SHIELD doesn't answer to the US president, which is why from Thor on all their movies have tons of Honda cars and no real military stuff in them. You're not allowed to use the actual designs and uniforms of the military without their permission.
>>
>>77928692
For some reason moviefags have it in their head that Wonder Woman is supposed to be muscular even though only a very few depictions of her were ever any more than a standard supermodel figure.

This is why you should never listen to a moviefag's opinions, they make up their own internal image of what a character is "supposed" to be like, and then rage when the movies actually take from the comics and not their head canon.
