>Spider-Man basically bitchslaps the Kingpin into a state of almost certain death.

Why can't we have moments like this in Spider-Man stories, /co/?
>>
Can't just use spiderman getting serious all willy nilly. Gotta make it count.
>>
>>77909376
Gotta have a bit of light before we can appreciate the dark times.
>>
>Making Kingpin, a guy who has kicked Daredevil's ass on many occasions, look like a bitch

No thank you.
>>
Because Slott's version of Parker is a perpetual loser on a scale two to three times greater than the average Peter Parker
>>
>>77909422
Daredevil is a really good martial artist who can tell how you're going to move by listening to your muscles and bone and hearing the air move around you

Spider-Man can tear steel apart with his bear hands and can avoid danger through limited precognition
>>
Because that was getting "too real" and "too dark" to the point that we got the stupidest reboot in comics.

Because then they wouldn't be special.
The point of those moments is because they stand out from typical Spidey.
If he always did them, how would we know if shit was real or not?
>>
>>77909299
That was retarded. Only spiderfags like that shit, us rational people not so much.

>>77909422
Yep, but most people here won't see it that way because Spider-Man is apparently a god among street levelers.
>>
>>77909299
This also happened in the 'remade' back in black story where Peter had a 'sister' and the only good thing was the art.
>>
>>77909422
>>77909656

Yeah, guys, this was dumb. Let's not forget about Kingpin and Daredevil's super strength.
>>
>>77909299
Few people are dumb enough to push Spider-Man that far.

That aren't insane, that is.
>>
>>77909678
>Kingpin has super strength

Kingpin has never had super strength, and neither does Captain America

He's a giant ball of muscle but super he is not

I'm glad that serious mode Spider-Man is a rare thing. The alternative is for it to become as much of a cliche as serious mode Superman, and I can no longer get excited about that shit because it is too played out

Spiderman #98-10.jpg

I love how at least 3 of Spider Man's top moments (well, good/memorable moments) throughout history have been him basically holding up really heavy things. Peter Parker has always felt like he needs to be able to do anything and save everyone and when he's unable to do that it destroys him mentally and emotionally. I've always appreciated the whole "weight of the world on his shoulders" kind of moments that he gets from time to time.

Saying all that as a lead in to the question: what are some of Spider Man's greatest feats of strength? And also who are some of the strongest people whose asses he's kicked?

after all these years the impression I've gotten is that Spider Strength has nothing to do with muscles, and instead a 'push force' counterpart to his 'pull force' wallcrawling.

It does put strain on his muscles, sure, but exerting his spider strength has more in common with exerting his spider-sense compared to most people with super strength.

That is to say, since it's a supernatural power rather than one tied to his physical body, the limits on it are only theoretic. There is no hard answer

There's no consistency to this stuff. Too much time and too many writers and too many different circumstances that influence how strong he is both positively and negatively.

But about 15 tons is generally how I tend to think of him too. And yeah, he absolutely holds back a lot because he cares about not hurting or crippling people. Anyone arguing that Spider Man shouldn't be able to slap Kingpin around doesn't know what the hell they're talking about. (Unless it's 60s Kingpin when he first appeared and was initially portrayed as being as strong/stronger than Spider Man. But that was the 60s and Peter was still a teenager and it wasn't long before they decided to ship Kingpin over to Daredevil. But yeah, modern Spider Man >>>>>>> Kingpin)

Spider Man obviously has more movies about him than any other Marvel character, but it's too bad that they're all about him being solo. I'd love to be able to see him in action as one of the Avengers. (Bonus points if Wolverine is there. Mainly because who doesn't want to see Peter throw Logan out of a window in Tony's penthouse?)

No, he can tell by how your heart beats a bit faster when you are about to make a move.

It used to be class 10, then bumped to 20 after the Other storyline, I dunno what his current power class is.

But yeah, he is holding back non stop. There was a Wolverine crossover, where a suicidal spy (hunted by the KGB and CIA) sneaked up on him, and Spidey thought it was Wolverine and hit back accordingly - and killed the woman on the spot.
