Let's finish this (except not really).
Parts 1 and 2:
>>77845764
>>77875257
Alright I'm ready op
Lol
Reading The New Jedi Order was one of the most disheartening things about my high school years. Even at age 14, I could tell that it wasn't really Star Wars. It was generic sci-fi action shlock with Jedi instead of space marines.
>>77904765
Yeah, it was pretty disappointing stuff, especially compared to some of the great books the EU gave us.
>>77904765
>>77904848
It was pretty horrifying watching all the jedi kids with their wacky adventures got brutalized and killed by edge aliens but I actually really enjoyed the action side of it. New Republic/Empire against Vong armies I mean.
It's probably the 40kfag in me, there's a scene in one of the NJO books where the Vong's slaves are clearing rubble and hunting down survivors and I thought, 'damn that's actually pretty scary.'
>>77905185
Oh, that's not to say there weren't any good parts, with so many people working on it there were bound to be, sadly most of it was pretty crap.
>>77905245
Yeah, like the Stackpole and Alliston books. I loved the battles in Star by Star, Destiny's Way, and Unifying Force.I also loved the shit out of the anakin solo/tahiri books and shipping and young me was bummed out when he died.
>>77905418
Oops, meant to say: I think Allston is the only writer I was enjoying by the end of the EU.
>>77905456
Yeah him and Zahn were the best, God Tier, even though Zahn's prose didn't age as well. X-wing Series > Thrawn overall in my opinion. Also Matthew Stover, did the fantastic ROTS novelization and some good Clone Wars novels
Great Tier: Stackpole (started the X-wing series but his prose was a little weaker than Alliston) and Luceno
Eh tier: Walter John Williams
Shit nigga what are you doing tier: Troy Denning, Karen Travis
>>77905614
Agreed. Man, Denning and Traviss were just embarrasing, I hope they don't come back.
>>77905134
Did... Did she just break stormtroopers armor with her fist? Wtf
>>77906245
If you think that's crazy, wait until you see what she does later.
And then the New Republic and the Imperial Remnant joined forces and beat the Yuuzhan Vong! No really, that's all you get because the series went into hiatus and then the Disney buyout happened.
Next time, we jump 100 years into the future!
thanks for the story time.
They ever do any Old Republic comics. Shit that isn't tied to any of the big story lines?
>>77906640
What? What a clusterfuck. Is any explanation of events ever given? Wtf was up with the super-powered princess and alien-infested jedi kid? And who the hell is that sith?
>>77906284
Later? I thought the series ended? >>77906245
>>77906828
I think he's talking about her ripping that stormie's head off.
>>77906789
Aren't they both Vong/Human hybrids or did I miss something?
>>77907139
They were born before the mom came though, how can they be hybrids?
>>77907653
she is a shaper.
Look at what the other shaper did to all the refugees, or all those other bioweapons created by them. Mommy Vong wanted her pretties to grow up nice and strong so she made changes to them.
what was the point of making this in the Star Wars universe? It could have been the same exact story with out the forced starwars BS

>Younglings
>>77906640
Thanks for the story time, friend.
>>77906501
Da fuck is going on
Did anyone ever mod NJO era into Battlefront 2?
>>77912146
Nope, there aren't even any NJO mods for Jedi Academy.
>>77905614
I just finished reading Shatterpoint a week ago. I actually consider Stover one of the strongest writers in the old EU as well. He and Luceno are among my favorites.
>>77915191
Fucking Luceno. He actually sold me on the NJO. One of the early books in the series was by him and it was about Han Solo still suffering from Chewies' death or some shit. At first I was sceptical of the whole thing, but the way Luceno wrote Solo came across as strangely believable for the character.
So, naturally I thought the rest of the NJO would be as good. Boy, was I fucking wrong.

As far as prequel era stuff goes, I really like Labyrinth of Evil by him. He actually makes Anakin and Obi-Wan believable and endearing as friends, as well as making Grievous a good, and threatening, villain. The tiny glimpses into Grievous' past life were really good too, especially considering how little they knew about him as a character at the time.
