Alternatively, the only other sexual thing I've witnessed so far in SU (in-terms of being pro-lesbians) was when Ruby and Sapphire were split. It was pretty clear Ruby was masculine (despite being referred to as female) while Sapphire was feminine. They balanced each other out and created a far more better SINGLE individual.

It isn't about procreation with gems it is augmentation. Sometimes augmentation is more reliant on emotion more than power.

S2 so far is bland and have some agenda on it.
S1 episodes can maintain on its own , S2 not so much. All the Peridot arc was boring for me for example. Same about the Sardonyx week , just beating the same death horse with "Muh pearl has issues".

Fusion is one of the best aspects of the show.
Getting over whether it is sexual or not, it is a manifestation of the relationship between characters, as a new character. It is a sign of Sugar and crew's goals with the show. It is about the character relationships, that isn't secondary, that is the primary focus.

While there is action, and some cutesy fun, and I wouldn't take that away from anyone who wants to watch the show for those aspects.

It doesn't HAVE to be erotic, but it turns out that way with garnet's fusions and Pearl x Rose at least.
