Political Comic Thread
>Second Image is him in a Nazi Uniform
Garrison, sanest "cartoonist" in the game and TOTALLY, UTTERLY NOT a white supremacist!
Do these count?
I miss when political cartoonists produced poignant and intelligent commentary and not just propaganda for their chosen cause.
Well, that goes without saying. I should maybe have said he sought to ESTABLISH communist state. I went through a heavy period of reading Trotsky's work during my "extreme left wing/fighting pitched battles with Neo-nazis at demos" communist period, please don't lecture me on left-wing ideology. Or resort to ad hominems.
This is fake. Zyklon Ben will gas you for this, you know that, right?
Why so rustled, anon?
the artist thinks political cartoons are stupid so he just drew a bunch of random shit that's in political cartoons all the time such as Putin, ISIS, and of course, Obama vaping all your tax dollars
Does "fuck you, you patronising doosh-hole, show us your man-tits"? Good use of the word nincompoop though.
I didn't realise Harlan Ellison had a hand in spreading the "Watchmen" version of the story! Yeah, apparently Genovese was stabbed, then crawled into a shadowy alley--one man opened his window and shouted "you let that girl alone" immediately after she was stabbed, the murderer had fled the scene then returned to kill Genovese. A older lady came out of the apartment block and cradled Genovese in her arms as she died, not knowing if the killer was still there (he'd fled). This is all according to wikipedia, sorry. After 18 parole hearings Winston Mosley continues to express little to no remorse over the murder. The Watchmen version was exaggerated (Ellison wrote that one man "turned up his radio to drown out the sound of her screams" and called the witnesses "38 motherfuckers") and I'd never have known without your post, Anon. Cheers.
Perspective is skewed in that picture for the sake of conveying the message. So you can see everyone in the building clearly as well as the girl getting raped/murdered. It's cartooning, in the same way the characters being drawn are vastly anatomically incorrect as well.
Okay, been posting on here since maybe 2010 so forgive my ignorance but can someone tell me why, when I type in the acronym for "to be honest" the word "desu" appears instead?!?!
accurate as fuck.
>white majority country
>avg. citizen is white
Who would have thought?
Let's slap random labels onto random pictures. It used to be fun.
Maybe someone still have this picture where Robin tramples on everyone's rights?
But since we've dropped all pretending, let's just get to it and fuck voraciously, tumblr.
About time someone did that.
Capitalism as an ideology cannot ever produce desirable results for the majority.
To have a free market, one must keep it from being captured by the capitalist class.
That is the core task for any socialist movement today as it always was.
To limit the power of money over people and to ensure markets remain open.
Exploitation and oligarchy are the inevitable outcome of unbridled capitalism. And once it becomes truly unbearable again, foreign terrorism will be the least problem anyone has.
>/pol/ redpilled Ben Garrison
I'll keep exploiting my white privilege in the meantime.
Even if employment didn't stimulate consumer spending, using the taxes on surplus grain the farming 70% of the country produces to fund a standing army basically worked in ancient times. Society basically functions like a protection racket and that is a feature not a bug.
/pol/ is a fairly influential board, ngl
>and was attacked by a racist spic.
I thought he was extra-ultra-albino-kkk-hitler white.
>Just really looking forward to the day your empire crumbles, to be honest.
Don't hold your breath, sonny. China's been exposed to ruinous levels of capital misallocation over the past 20 years, which is coming home to roost. As rotten as you think the American empire to be, China isn't the same contender it was perceived to be as early as 3 years ago.
I am actually a rural bumfuck. Halal certified is seriously a mainstream thing?
It's probably Stockholm syndrome at work
Also I'm noticing a lack of Winsor in here
>Standing on Africa
That just makes this better
Death and War are my OTP
Pencilworks like these are precious resource these days
time for brit banter
For the era? Winsor was fucking subversive.
Is this a commentary about the civil war?
punch should be brought back, some of this stuff is timeless
130 years worth of banter
that absolutely fabulous german
Last two teddys.
I remember one that had him crashing through a wall, if anyone can post it I'd be very grateful
>come on war, you have a bunch of good ones right there and you're gonna give me this one?
>I mean, If you're gonna give me one o the small ones you could at least give me two.
>heh, can't ever catch you off guard, eh, death?
this shit writes itself.
>this is so kafkaesque
>no touching the genocide, ma'am
Did you know that we had cameras since the early 1800s? Newspapers becoming a thing in the mid 1800s? And the printing press 300 years earlier?
he was a good boy he dindu nuffin
he didn't steal no carton of cigs and he weren't jaywalking and both coroners who found that he was charging headfirst at the officer when he was shot were lying even though the family hired the second coroner independently
Because it's right.
Twitter hashtag campaigns are nothing more than slacktivism. It's easy to pretend you're making a difference when you can literally do it while you're taking a shit.
I don't know what christian believe, but it seems to me that it would be a dick move to put soul in fetus and don't warn everyone to baptism them. every still born would go to hell.
>every still born would go to hell.
Old school was unbaptized babies and stillborns went to Limbo. I forget when the Pope abolished that. It was still around when I was a kid.
Biologically, I always figured it wasn't a person until it got a heartbeat. That's a nice developmental stage people can empathize with and also far enough along to keep a lot of teens from ruining their lives and have tons of embryos for stem cell research. But I've known plenty of people who were straight up moment of fertilization.
And you fail to understand how much more violent war had become around the time where McCay Drew The Victor.
The amound of casualties Europe suffered in WWI was unprecendented; around four times that of the Napoleonic Wars.
Before most of warfare was settled through sieges and few battles; and even most battles would just end up with one side running away. The weapons around the time of WWI has become too efficient for people to be able to afford casualties.
War resulting only in death wasn't so obvious because throughout all of European history the casualties were rather minimal.
You know, these where made in an age where Nationalism and Hawk-like behavior was seen as a positive trait.
I'm sure he got Nationalist hate, to the tune of "YOU'RE A TRAITOR" and "YOU JUST WANT TO LET THE BRITISH/GERMANS/SPANISH WALK ALL OVER US, DON'T YOU?!"
>but it seems to me that it would be a dick move to put soul in fetus and don't warn everyone to baptism them. every still born would go to hell.
As well as aborted ones.
Which is EXACTLY why Protestants feel that strongly about abortion to begin with.
Early political cartoonists where illustrators. You had to have training in the arts to be able to work.
People then found out political cartoon depends primarily on their entertainment value so ability to draw stopped being a requeriment.
Well perhaps protestants should stop being retarded.
I don't know about banter, but maybe I can illuminate you further, if only to understand the viewpoint.
Basically, Protestants/evangelicals believe that the purpose of life is to get to know God, believe in Jesus, and spread that message to as many people as they can. They call a person's lifespan their "time of grace" that God has given them, since that stretch of time is when they can be redeemed.
If this time is cut short in any fashion--be it murder, suicide, abortion, whatever--it's not just a physical but a spiritual tragedy as well. (Granted, there are moral laws of self-defense outlined in the Bible.)
Tying into this, as part of the 4th commandment God gives the government the authority to cut this time of grace short--on the people who by their actions are basically broadcasting their intent to go to hell. This is why Christians support the death penalty and why Christians can in good conscience be in the army.
The political cartoon really cherry-picks the Bible.
Make way for the best modern political cartoon
Isn't Protestantism liberal in it's tenets? Like a "choose your own beliefs" kind of deal. You have many different churches.
I'm live in a Catholic nation where the great majority of the population is strictly anti-abortion.
That said, banter is pulling dumb jokes at each other.
I know what banter is, don't worry.
Protestantism in general has a variety of subgroups and synods though, that have varying levels of conservatism/liberalism.
What you described is more liberal, true.
Conservative Protestants adhere much more to the Bible, and are very against abortion as one example. Lutheranism is one of the larger categories of Protestantism, and synods range from the liberal ELCA to the conservative WELS (my synod)
It's surprising how many people don't realize Protestants are monolithic. There are people out there who even don't know the difference between Protestants and Catholics, so there you go.
When you get down to it. Europe learned the harsh lesson about industry and war that America learned with our civil war. The lesson? Industrialism turns war into a meat grinder where men can be shipped in and replaced just as fast as they're lost. Which makes it hard to see war as glorious when 10,000 or more can die in a day and not actually achieve anything just to do it again tomorrow.
