It seems unlikely at this point that Dipper won't make some kind of speech about family, friendship, and love at this point, probably to Bill. "If there's one thing I learned this summer etc." Then maybe Stan will say something cynical and funny as a joke.

Dipper and Mabel will look at each other after he talks and some sappy music will play.

Then, the same thing will happen with Stan and Ford.

This will be the entirety of the Stan and Ford arc character resolution.

Bill gets banished with an asspull Deuz ex Machina and happy music plays.

We see Dipper and Mabel riding home in the bus.

Writing it has been a somewhat painful experience yeah.

One thing I don't like is the status quo is god thing. I get that it's just one summer vacation. But this is another "limited apocalypse" that no one will even no about, the twins' parents will never even know that anything unusual happened that summer. In the end, the only things that will have changed is that Dipper gained some confidence and Ford came back, and if Ford sacrifices himself somehow, not even that. Mabel and Stan won't have changed at all and everyone in town will instantly forget anything weird happened.

For the last episode, actually. Disney released the upper shot of this image as promo art, and I suspected the background wasn't final because of the general sketchiness and iffy lineweight.

But it turned out to be a zoomed in section of a much larger background. Which explained the thick lines, but not the atypically sloppy style.
