It's Marx isn't it?
>>
Or just dittos fucking with them.
>>
Its an angler fish based mutant
>>
>>77866896

Clearl-

Hey! No drink for Irving. Those assholes!
>>
this is clearly the works of Sarah,
Her stupid pesky "glass drink on the floor of a crashed boat slanted sideways" trick

Every goddamn time
>>
>>77866879
>>77866896
>yfw it's both
>>
>>77866763
I would assume dittos due to the orientation of the ship. It's sad that nothing odd can happen without somebody blaming Marx for it.
>>
>>77866763
The day Marx reappears is the day I finally drop Endtown for good.
>>
>>77868438
Has Aaron ever really acknowledged the general dislike of Marx, or are people more okay with him on the gocomics website?
>>
>>77869857
I know some people who have reviewed endtown and usually mention him as a good character, i remember one comparing Marx to a mixture of Tom Bombadil with Dr.Who, while I'm not a fan of Marx, i don't see why people hat him and find this guy >>77868438 reaction exaggerated to say the least
>>
>>77869857
> the general dislike of Marx

People see Marx as a Deus Ex Machina
>>
>>77870573
well his introduction was a literal Deus Ex Machina
>>
>>77869857
He knows. He gets their dislike, but Marx is very important to the comic so he's probably hoping people will grow to like him more as things are slowly explained.

You can forgive a dues ex machina or self-insert or talking head if it's done well enough. Marx's problem is that there is so little known about him other than "lol whimsy", so it's natural that people get upset.
>>
I disliked Marx to begin with because he's an obnoxious cunt and the whole thing with flask didn't help either.
But I really started to hate the character when he turned the rather dramatic milk trial arc in a fucking joke with his sudden appearance.
Almost dropped the comic back then, and I 100% will if he ever shows up again in the actual story.
>>
>>77868269
Yes Marx, just by existing as a character, truly fucked up the perception of what can and can't happen in the whole world around.

>>77871303
Word. Can you imagine, in the far future, after a big reveal, the relief of ultimately understanding that Marx fits perfectly in the world and the story and there's a good reason for everything he is and has done?
oh what a glorious day that will be!
(If it happens.)
>>
Here's the status update from yesterday.

>>77868438
You may as well stop now, then.
>>
Heyo people. After a rough few weeks I return rejvinated and ready to resume development.
>I've made a material health point section in the Health Points sections. Ever wonder how much a brick wall would take in this system? Maybe a glass window, handcuffs? There you go. Don't laugh, its an important GM resource.
>After really quite abit of research and chitting chatter I've made rules for Dittos. Basically its one unit = one Tiny size class person and more of these units is a bigger illusion. Although, I have yet to impliment rules for ditto solids. The unit btw is Billion. People familar with Rifts and Megadamage should understand this instantly.
>I might get a co-author for the book. More like a press gang situation.

WARNING! It's been in the game for weeks but hasn't been in play yet: You gain +10 intiative per level up. Current players, remember this and put it on your sheets!

We are back in the saddle! Game session will be this saturday 12/5, 12 noon/ 3pm est irc.rizon.net #endtownrpg. I encourage anyone to drop by, even if you ain't playing.

Artifical gravity, neat.

Them needing Marx to beat the awfully designed anonymous high council system (retroactively validating it as perfect except for alien time traveling jackass instead of keeping the insight that no system's perfect) was a huge weakness in what was Endtown's best story.

The fact that Aaron went with the typical "all government is bad the people are idiots vote libertarian!" post-apoc thing instead of showing us a really cool idea like a proper election is a shame but eh.
>>
>>77874685
>Lilith
>Previous Earth theory

Holy fucking shit! I can't express how messed up this shit is to have in a children's book. I mean, this is actual genuine defying god and nature heretical paganism.

Just...Jesus Christ.
>>
>>77870943
>>77871303
>>77872816

Yeah, Marx over does the whimsey. It's interesting because for the Milk Tril arc the whole scheme would have been stopped at several points without Marx.

This actually makes me very dreadful of the next arc. Jackrabbit is very clearly a potential dictator with no remorse. If he wins the election Endtown would be a fucked up place.

I keep thinking that the next arc will be Jacob being evil which galvinizes Walt into being a better leader. However, could you imagine a story where a character like Jacob is the mayor? Stories revolving around characters while this evil jackass lords over the place?

I secretly think that Jacob is not an actual mutant. I think he is literally the same character from Aaron's politcal comic Daily Grind and was brought over to Endtown's dimension by Marx for this elaborate scheme. This means that he actually a bipedal rabbit dimensional alien instead of a mutant that he was -never human- and that he is here specifcally to be an ass and take power.

Also some fun trivia: Daily Grind was featured in an actual newspaper in Oregeon.
>>
>>77874877

I don't know. They even said in the comic that if it was sabotaged that it did have flaws. Cooper pointed out much to what you think, that the system, while imperfect, was working because it was supported by the cooperation of the people and that with the people supporting a less democratic system they were setting themselves up for a terrible violence with ushering a new government. This subtext is what spurred Holly to leave Endtown.

You seem to be confused, maybe you need to read that chapter again.
>>
>>77875925
You know, considering Jackrabbit is a rabbit, that whole "act like your species" thing might bite him in the ass. Quite literally.
>>
I hope it's just the dittos.
>>
>>77877060

Making fake drinks for them does seem like something they'd do, just to get a response.
>>
>>77878146
They're bad enough when they just use illusions to freak people out.

Having a sufficient mass to manipulate their surroundings can't be good.
>>
>>77869857
>>77868438
Marx is a great character though. Literally William Wonka meets Rick from Rick and Morty.
>>
>>77879709

Well, when you put it like that...
>>
>>77879709
Still shit, if anything comparing him with better character reflects more poorly..
>>
>>77882764
>better character
implying Marx isnt the better character.
>>
>>77867901
who is Irving?
>>
>>77884046
the bug. that chick keeps.
>>
>>77879709
>Literally William Wonka meets Rick from Rick and Morty.

In a comic which is thematically about fragility, genocide, desperation, and fear.
>>
>>77885560
so.... exactly like the worlds of willy wonka and rick and morty. Methinks Aaron is plagarizing. l.o.l.
>>
>>77885560
And beans. And bean 8nduced orgies. And mystical Oracles in a pond. And magic fruit.

Thing is, Endtown is more than you just wrote and it was more than that since the first arc. It's the grim and dark people like you who keep pretending it's supposed to be a twisted comic about misery and nothing else. Endtown, despite being a grim setting, had whimsical and paranatural elements to it from the fucking start and no mental gymnastic of yours is gonna change that fact.
>>
For some reason I don't expect Marx. It would seem almost too obvious. Actually, this whole ship thing seems too obvious. There has to be something horrible incoming.

And if I'm wrong and it is Marx then pucker up and enjoy it fuckers!
>>
>>77888502

So Endtown is fragility, genocide, desperation, fear, whimsey, and supernatural.

What else do we got here? Weirdness, that's all around.

How the fuck did you manage that?
>>

IF those drinks are real, IF they are, who might have put them there?
>>
>>77888924
I read it but I didn't get the reference, explain? Or is it just how everyone thinks the Champion is their own species
>>
>>77874685
I know people can have really weird interests but Aaron keeps impressing me with stuff like this.

>topsider babies are born in their suit because through surgery
Now this is just stupid.
>>
>>77874685
I wonder why Aaron hasnt had the endtowners and other mutants that have figured out the secret to not going full akira don't just use that information as a psy-ops against the topsiders hoping that they will defect...
>>
>>77891693
>>topsider babies are born in their suit because through surgery

not really, although it would make more sense if the baby was just born in its mothers suit and extracted after the fact into its own suit.
>>
>>77889001
Magical/Whimsical behavior with a dark undertone combined with super-science and multidimensional traveling ability.
>>
>>77891977
Exactly. Hope that statement isn't definitive.

>>
>>77900433
In-universe that's Al's thing. He's much stronger than he looks and also man enough to please a rhino.
>>
>>77890201

I meant this.
>>
>>77888502
There are a lot of edgelords only following these threads because of a creepy raccoon having a nervous breakdown.
>>
>>77891693
>>77891977
Sounds more like a question Aaron hadn't thought of, and was just trying to give an explanation that didn't involve "safe rooms"
>>
>>77903721

Well, its also speculated that Holly could literally explode if she she was impregnated and the fetua mutated into a larger animal species.

Aaron says Topsider babies are put in a suit via micro surgery, then that's what happens.
>>
>>77903294
I thought it was because he got NTR'd
>>
>>77903294
He wasn't creepy. He was a handsome sweetheart who got his heart broken and we were all hoping he would pull through and become a main character.

Sarah's a cold blooded and Jim was too good for her.
>>
>>77904039
>explode
thats where the healing factor comes in.
>>
>>77909665

It heals quicker than Norma, she's not wolverne.
>>
>>77909955
all fetuses start at the same size and then grow bigger. she healed a bone in a day. thats more than enough to heal a baby pouch and a torn to shit baby-hole.

>although in this scenario if she had an elephant she would be hauling a paunch around for the rest of her life.
>>
>>77910148

Actually her and Wally were on the road for weeks before they made it to Albion West.

Another factor here is how small Holly is. She is almost as big as a human adult baby. The fact that mutation isn't gradual at all, more like a grenade, that she could get screwed straight up.

I can't continue this line of thought, it reminds me too much of Sparrow.
>>
>>77911855
it was healed the first night they set up camp.

>Mutants have always had very speedy healing abilities, and there's a reason for this that would be a doozy of a spoiler if I spelled it out. Let's just say that it's associated with the post-mutation amnesia. There are limits to that ability, though. Obviously, mutants don't take a bullet terribly well and they don't always bounce back from being clubbed in the head (although Wally is becoming a pro in that regard), but on average they can take being knocked about exceptionally well. Holly's arm being broken was always meant to be an illustration of the principle. But that bit with Cooper's head doesn't factor into this.. It was a gag devised at a point where I imagined Endtown to be a post-apocalyptic Li'l Abner. Hopefully, history will forgive me.
>>
>>77912594
she realized it during the camp scene by moving it around. Dont make me dig up the image...
>>

This isn't one of your cape comics.

I'd think smaller mutants give birth to small babies whom later grow

I know that some kids who are born premature can still grow up to be quite tall
