>>

Eh, they'll just relaunch it again. Marvel doesn't give a shit.

>>
>>77843499
I don't think you understand how Diamond Sales work. Issue 1 and 2 came out the same month, meaning the Diamond sales reflect LCS' pre-orders for the first two issues, which was done at the same time. LCSes over-ordered issue 1 because it had a shitton of variants and it was an issue 1, while ordering what they thought would actually sell for issue 2. These aren't sales to consumers, they're sales to retailers.

All this shows is how variant covers and relaunches artificially inflate first issue sales. 66k is what LCS thought would sell. 279k is what LCS had to order to get the variants their customers wanted for the first issue, meaning there'll be a shitton of issue 1s littering bargain bins everywhere.
>>
Welcome to #1s Anon, they are always inflated. Now if it continues to drop, then you can say they are on suicide watch.
>>

>>
>>77843499
A drop from 1 to 2 means nothing

I'm curious what the sales will be by issue 6, assuming it hasn't been relaunched again by then of course
>>
Why is anyone surprised by this? He's fucking Iron Man. He doesn't sell. By issue 6 his install base will be 22k. Calling it now.

I'm pretty sure someone made this thread weeks ago and everyone already called OP out on his retardedness.
>>
>>77843698
3, actually. The third issue of ASM came out since it double ships.
>>
>>77843676
We won't know for like 2-3 more months once some of the bigger books stop having 10+ variants and settle.
>>
>>77843499
So /co/ how low will sales for #3 and #4 be?
>>
>>77843704
People new to comics not understanding how Diamond sales figures work is nothing new to the fandom. "OMG look at how much the sales dropped from issue 1 to 2! 'publisher/book/writer' BTFO" threads will never stop because there's always new people getting into the hobby without bothering to research things before making claims.
>>
>>77843499
>#2 sold dramatically fewer copies than #1
hasn't this been the industry standard forever? especially once people heard about what happened to the prices of so many #1's and then started hopping on the collector train hoping that every new title would be the new "Amazing Spider-man" in a few years?
>>
>>77843499
are we being invaded by /v/ now?
>>
>>77843782
It has been the cast for the past 20 years, yes. But for people that just started reading comics this year, or don't actually read comics and just hang out on /co/ while spouting what they heard on BC as fact, this is new and exciting news that is somehow supposed to be relevant or indicative of anything beyond how incentive variants are fucked but effective.
>>
>>77843822
Why not? Everyone else is gangbanging us, /v/ can join the fun.
>>
Was this not expected? I'd be surprised if sales will remain the same for 6 issues.

Maybe people didn't want to be spoiled on Secret Wars.
>>
>>77843926
Yes retailers are pissed by delays of SW since some of their ANAD stuff isn't selling.
>>
You now remember Bendis is meant to do a companion Iron Man book.
>>

/pol/
/tv/
tumblr
reddit

now /v/ as well? at least we got rid of /mlp/
>>
>>77843987
Yay, double the decompression!
>>
Except for inflated #1s, retailers are probably never going to order Iron Man the way they order real best sellers like Spider-Man, Star Wars, Batman. Because it's Iron Man, and he has never, ever, ever been a top-tier comic character.

Marvel put Bendis on the book because they want Iron Man to be as popular in comics as he is in the movies. But it's never going to happen because Robert Downey Jr. is more appealing than Iron Man. There are a lot of things comics can do that movies can't, but one thing a movie or TV show can do is use an actor's talent/charisma to breathe life into a character.
>>
>>77844004
I wonder how many of them would stick around if this was a comics only board.
>>
>>77844138
Comics only? Without movies? /pol/ and tumblr would still be around.
>>
>>77844148
Except the user base would shrink to such a level that the board would slow down too much for them to get fast responces to their bait. They come here for attention, not for discussion, so there'd be no reason for them to come here if there weren't enough users to give them the attention they crave. What's the point in making a Squirrel Girl thread if it doesn't reach 500 posts within an hour?
>>
>>77843676
Silver Surfer I think
>>
>>77844148
What do we have to do to get rid of /pol/? I feel it's all Marvel's fault they came here in the first place.
>>
>>77844408
Which ironically is ending.
>>
>>77844431
Not ironic.
>>
So where do people think the reader base will be at by issue 7? 21k? 25k?
>>
>>77844794
We don't even know where the reader base is now. I imagine it'll settle at around 50k. Higher thank Iron Man usually sells thanks to Bendis, but not as high as their A-lists.

I think this is the first time in a while that Bendis' name has been attached to something that wasn't guaranteed sales, like Guardians or The Avengers or Uncanny X-Men.
>>
>>77845029
Guardians wasn't guaranteed sales until after the movie. Bendis was put on the book before the first trailer even came out.

At the time of its launch, the Guardians were still a D-list team that the average comic buyer knew nothing about. They knew they were getting a movie, but that's it. It was less guaranteed sales than Dr. Strange or Ant-man.

The initial sales of GotG were absolutely on the back of Bendis (and the Marvel marketing machine).

Just like before 2012 when the board used to be considered one of the best. People actually took time to read posts since threads moved slower and post limit was 250, lurking was easier for newfags. Shitposting and shilling was lower since companies didn't give a fuck about /co/. Scanbro unintentionally ruined the board when ASM 698-700 was leaked.

>They really like to push these two failed characters for some reason.

Iron Man is their most popular character outside of Spider-Man, primarily because of the popularity of the MCU films and RDJ's portrayal of Tony Stark.

Captain Marvel is their only non-Spider Family, non-mutant heroine. Or, at least, the only one they feel has franchise potential.

Even then it was minuscule. Some faggots took the pages from the ASM sticky and posted them all over social media. Comic sites were directly blaming 4chan and Marvel was ass ravaged. The board didn't have as much of a presence among other sites except a few shoutouts from nsfw artists. The sticky somehow managed to reach 2000+ posts which was rare for /co/. Once reddit and tumblr discovered this place board culture completely changed. Win-o threads were in danger for a while since shills reported links more often. The newfags from those places don't understand the concept of lurk moar and now we have constant shitposts whenever someone says something like nigger or faggot because they don't understand the site. Sexism used to be a joke but now it's serious business for these same faggots. It made catching bait so much easier for people.

I'm not blaming this on Scanbro the person, since there was no way he could have known how big dropping the issue would get, since normally it's just something we'd consider was done for shits and giggles.

>>77843536
>>77843574
They want Iron Man to succeed so bad, they give him more that one title, Bendis is writing, they are bringing Mary Jane and Doctor Doom to make more noise and controversy, Doctor Strange guest starred, so much variants for a shitty no.1 that won't be worth anything in a few years.

The clearly want it to do good but the way Bendis is writing it feels like he's just hitting deadlines more than anything, I think Iron Man will start to slowly decline until the point when Marvel relaunches everything and then the comic is going to do ridiculously well with the new #1 and variants.

At least until people wisen up this strategy will work for Marvel.
>>

>>
>>77847008
It shows because the way he is writing him is really different from the way he wrote him in his Avengers run, even his GotG comic.

But ugh he comes off as less RDJ and more like teen Peter with facial hair.
>>
>>77847043
Pretty sure if there's an artist that can constantly ape RDJ's likeness and the other MCU actors into their art without making it look ugly then they would have captured a lot of people as readers based on that.

I mean one of the reason Bendis gets popular and decent artists (because he's allowed to chose his own artists unlike other writers) is because he knows that if his writing fails the artists can carry the comic.
