So where was Brainstrom when Quark was getting murdered in the prison camp?
Anyone know when the holiday issue comes out? Im hoping for Christmas with the scavengers
something I don't get;
Brainstorm was M.T.O, right?
but Quark was a forged bot,
Brainstorm was an Autobot, Quark was a neutral:
>politically incorrect: NAIL
when and how did they meet?
I need to know this too.
you do know Spacewarp used to be a dude right?
also PROWL DID NOTHING WRONG! OPTIMUS A SHIT!
Sorry, senpai, no Scavengers for you.
this looks like it'll be tons of fun.
she's supposed to have an aussie accent....nice.
ok i take back what i said. aussie accents always have me sold.
The only one I like is Verity and she is most likely going to die soon.
I guess Jimmy Pink seems OK and he seems like a good foil for Arcee and makes her more bearable but he gets points taken down for hanging with Spike.
He is one fine looking robot. I need more of him in my life.
Well she seems like she is terminally ill, I don't buy the pregnant shit because she is careless with herself and acts like she is going to die anyway not to mention Verity wouldn't be like that if she had a baby.
Humans have short lives compared to a Cybertronian and are very fragile, it's bad enough for a Cybertrobian to get attached to one but bringing them to space with them and in their adventures is one of the worst things they can do.
Can Marissa never not be a raging bitch? I liked her better when she was a random EDC cop and Jazz's buddy.
But really she is unapologetic about what the EDC did to Thundercracker with the clones, also she gave him the dog so she shouldn't bitch about it, could have at least potty train Buster.
They should give her some character development outside being an angry bitch or just kill her off.
I wonder what happens in the RID portion...let me guess Prowl steals christmas because fuck Prowl.
yeah i wish Marrisa wasn't always a bitch.
i was making a joke.
oh riiiight i forgot about that...i really am an idiot.
Should I pre-order MTMTE #50 with Milne's regular cover, or his "interlocking mega-set" that we didn't get to see yet? I suppose having picked up issues #1 for MTMTE and RID, I should pre-order RID #50 as well..
What parts are her being a bitch? I'm mostly seeing a person who isn't as jazzed about alien robots as we are. She's an asshole towards the bots, but that doesn't count as being a bitch.
I don't know, I think Spike is a bitch so maybe I have a weird pov
I wonder if they'll ever end up doing a month where the interior artists of MTMTE and exRiD switch. Milne's indicated he wants to do it on twitter.
From Jro's twitter
>pre-order codes for MTMTE #50:
DEC150411 (Alex's regular cover)
DEC150412 (Biggie variant)
DEC150413 (Choi variant)
DEC150414 (Roche variant)
DEC150415 (Alex's interlocking mega-set)
Also, when is' SotW suppose to take place, with regard to RID?
>Also, when is' SotW suppose to take place, with regard to RID?
Before #45, judging by this panel.
Best to wait until SOTW actually ends before saying stuff like that. ExRiD will probably avoid showing any consequences from it until after its last issue comes out, because of spoilers. We don't know what'll happen to Prowl, for example.
>he chases after optimus hooting angrily all the while and pecking at him
>optimus cant hurt him because even though its prowl its against his code
optimus tries to flee into space but owl-prowl somehow fuckiing follows him in a tiny owl space suit
>Another dyemooch easter egg
If Josh Perez was a mascot for a popular brand in their world, what product would he be?
>James Roberts and Kotteri celebrate with the crew of MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE!
FOR THE LOVE OF PRIMUS GIVE HER MORE ISSUES TO WORK ON.
Josh if you're here and you see this you need to wear your Bumblebee hat more often because you are fucking adorable in it.
PRAISE PRIMUS! Or should it be Unicron? My theology is rusty here.
Some people feel AVP is just so Jim Sorensen can canonise what he feels should be. And that this is a deliberate effort to manipulate the wiki.
Their latest bugbear revolves around Ultchar. Before Starscream was Starscream, he was going to be called Ultchar. And in a previous Sorenson work (the Allspark Almanac, specifically the website addition), he mentioned an Ultchar character. With one of the AVP spin offs, a character describes Ultchar as doing things that Unicron Trilogy Starscream did. Implying that Ultchar and Starscream (specifically UT Starscream) are two names for the same character.
Naturally, this means war.
wait is this months issues out earlier than they normally are?
Would you guys be excited for a Scavengers mini-series or an ongoing?
I don't know. I think the Scavengers work because we receive such small doses of them. A mini might be okay in the correct writer's hands but could end up becoming Lost Light 2: The Rehashing or EoS in the wrong hands.
I think I'm okay with a two-three issue per season visit with them.
So gang of the "Nine Pillars " what is your tier list.
For those who dont know.
1. Marvel G1
2. G1 Cartoon
3. Beast Wars/Machines
4. Robots in Disguise(2001)
5. Unicron Trilogy
7. Live action films
How would you rank them?
I really like Spike's characterization. He really feels like the hero guy of a different story transplanted to a world where the actions that would save humanity from foreign occupation instead cause problems to our actual protagonists.
It took a drone, and a dog to make this comic interesting again.
>Humans words are scrambled
I'll probably descramble them myself after I get back from classes.
I think they should have at least one comic a year just so you know..oh yeah that's where they are at.
IDW Not RID
Bad but enjoyable tier:
All Hail Megatron
Mike Costa Ongoing
They're really easy to descramble, I can do that.
>Should this thing be walking around alone?
>It's just Buster.
>The weird signals from the Jupiter colony are continuing (this one I'm not 100% sure of)
>Can you get Soundwave on the horn?
>He's not responding, boss.
>Should I alert Faireborn?
>No, not yet. We'll wait for something important.
>Hey! Who let that dog in?!
Tune up next time to see how is everyone in christmas yaaaay!
And next year to see galvatron kill everyone and optimus re conquer earth because why not!!!!!!!!!!!
He's a cyborg grown in a tube by Onyx, designed to call the lord of beasts to reclaim the Enigma.
It made sense for a while. He was an illusion, a figure with no past, even he didn't know what he was.
As for him being human... sure his origin didn't have him born, but he thinks like a human, acts like a human, quotes stupid memes like a human.
He is a human, just one designed for a purpose.
That's a different incarnation of Blackrock. Like Optimus, Megatron, Spike etc.
He's a human industrialist, whose work has him tied in to the Cybertronians. He also has snazzy facial hair and glasses. It's the same basic character, just interpreted in a different way.
I am guessing it's because she's in a foul mood 24/7 and she is very rude to TC all the time, but her worst quality is the fact that she feels she can use the Cybertronian she's allied to and seems like she feels no remorse about what they think about it and treats them like machines.
I get her in a way though, most of the human characters are deeply upset with Cybertronians after the events of AHM (Marissa experienced it first hand), they want them to leave but they are still there.
Soundwave is leaving and taking his group with him so they are fine with that but the autobots are still messing around with Earth and once Optimus tries to annex the planet, it will bring back more problems again for both humans and Cybertronians.
I guess she's kind of polite sometimes? And feels TC is not a threat and she did give him the dog, but I wish she would get more character development than lady who is upset because she is sorrounded with idiots.
She's way better than Spike though but I will still place her under Verity (not like that!).
What you describe as her worst quality is one of the most interesting points for me, heh. She's a focus character, and she's doing all this shit and I'm really interested to see her character growth.
And being able to use the Cybertronians in the first place is a feat. She's not just a grunt, she has power. And I guess that the frustration that comes from being a boss is what influences people's views of her character.
I'd place her under Verity too. Both like that and not.
Because she hates the cons and doesn't want to marry a robot, and has a career.
Now I know that we're lacking a robot-lover perspective in the comics but we need to make it someone else.
I don't doubt she is good although she was kind of messing up in the beginning.
I kind of still want her to have more non angry moments though and this issue was a step on the good direction with her character and I do like her banter with TC.
Lol which Cybertronian? And what housewife things can you do for a Cybertronian.
I am for it as long as TC is the annoying next door neighbor asking to borrow shit and dropping in unannounced.
I don't see what you're talking about
uh....let's not. Flint and Lady Jaye wouldn't approve of their daughter being a loli slut.
I'd love to see these two done again but not shit.
What if Optimus fights Galvatron in the Jupiter Stupider Commune and throws him out of the space station like a homage to the Transformers movie all the way from 1986
On a more serious note, by "brother" he means a Cybertronian brother, rather than brothers of Primes, right?
It's weird how i didn't recognize him initially.
that outta be interesting
>hey skywarp guess what i write screenplays and im my own mech now what have you been up too?
>i was a living warpdrive and my every living moment was motionless agony.
>....i got a dog
This is getting weird in a good way.
That's still the case.
Starscream has a new body based on the new toy, Skywarp is still in his WFC body, and Thundercracker is using his ongoing body (I'll never understand how he switched from his MP body to that one, but I don't think anyone cares).
Like two bodies ago
You can tell by the shape of the chests and wings among other things.
Similar since both are roughly the same transformation and altmode. Other than how Starscream's cockpit ends up on his back and the gunner's pit is the chest.
Shit, here's his most recent appearance.
Anyway, designs are:
Starscream: CW Leader toy
Thundercracker: Ongoing design
Dirge: RID design (similar to War Within Seekers)
Acid Storm: Classic seeker design
even though Furman fucked up with Spotlight Arcee....I can imagine how much better things could have been without them fucking over Furman's original plans.
They should have made Arcee a combiner instead. Then they would be the only singluar lifeform with plural pronouns since Reflector don't in this universe and you an keep the isolated from everyone else on Cybertron and being a recreation of an extinct race which no one can actively remember but the words to describe it still float around in the language without being sexist.
that's going too far man.
But Revenge of the Fallen showed that it is possible to use Arcee as a multiple being and it allows for diversity in Transformers population while still allowing Arcee to be unique from everyone else and having compatibility issues. Hell, the current comics have been showing combiners which are many becoming one causing mental issues to components, so a singular consciousness split into multiple bodies sounds like it would be maddening contradictions for senses.
Basically a nonpsychotic nontransgender, nonmuhpartnersare dead version of IDW/Prime Arcee except actually fun.
What's people's favourite depiction of Cybertron?
I don't really like G1 Arcee.
no. I just want one that isn't psychotic or whines about her dead partners. I mean she can be cocky and snarky but less agressive and in your face about it.
Chromia is shit. why the fuck did Scott think that was a great idea to make her one.
I gotta go with Animated's Cybertron too.
Interesting. Culturally, or just from appearance?
I found the Autobot society a bit too authoritarian for my tastes.
Ah, so technological mimicking organic at part, and all turning into a giant robot?
mfw you see nice in depth analysis of tf characters in the main tag but you see #noncanon pronouns at the top of the post.
ok maybe have her as a less overbearing Prime Arcee, most of people I know really dislike her and the bullshit she pulled with Airachnid litterally all they say is MUH Partners.
understandable. I only like the TFA Cybertron for the fact it's an actual planet with a hustling and bustling society.
It varies by universe.
In most, you'd be correct. In IDW, breathing isn't needed.
Regardless of my thoughts on the series. I will admit I love the next two panels after this page.
Well bitches do love canons, yes.
It seemed to work for Knockout. People love him.
Seriously though, I like Prime Arcee, but I can see where that anon's coming from. All the Autobots had some kind of trauma to get through, but her trauma relied on direct repetition.
Yes, that would be the one. It also complains that people don't address disabled individuals correctly in comics but then proceeds to call male characters by female pronouns because lol, its just comics so they can call them what they want.
>understandable. I only like the TFA Cybertron for the fact it's an actual planet with a hustling and bustling society.
Regeneration 1 had a pretty great Cybertron as well
until everyone died.
I like the prewar cybertron from idw it seems so bright for a corrupt civilization
He created massive upheval that broke a functional society and caused uncountable of deaths across many planets and species and even in just Cybertron-native Transformers more than the population alive when he started.
Don't forget that Pre-War Cybertron was controlled by the Functionist Council and the planetary Senate: Which forbade to change jobs/bodies out of will and punished everyone who were against them.
My mind is a little fuzzy if mass organic genocide was always part of his original ideal of Cybertronians being the perfect rulers of space or this came to fill the gaps when Trepan was in the process of erasing his memories of Terminus' teachings.
How much of this is reliable coming from the fanatic though.
But I'm pretty sure Jro mentioned that in a later issue, we'd get an explanation, so I'm wondering whether or not he was talking about #39 specifically.
Quintesson sold him on the idea of survival at all cost.
Prowl Did Nothing Wrong.
>Megatron thinks autonomy and free will should be disposed of.
>Rejects a society where "form dictates function."
Maybe I'm too uneducated to understand, but doesn't rejecting funtionism mean you should be in FAVOR of free will, and allowing people to choose their own destiny?
I'm at a loss as to what Megatron actually fucking wants for Cybertron.
He's actually just messing with Prime and his assumptions. Like that providing for all means no free will.
As Prime notes in the issue, and Megatron confesses to Ravage, Megatron is goading Prime, trying to get a reaction, because that's what they do.
I don't think Megatron intended on a world without free will, but he knew Optimus and his bots thought he did. (Seriously, before the end of the war, merely reading Towards Peace would probably get you on a list. So who's going to know what Megs actually wants?)
You'd be hard pressed I'd say.
I mean, let's say only 20% of cons are True Believers. i.e. They read the philosophy, and actually want the goal espoused in Megatron's writings.
Of those, I'd say most would just view him as a traitor. Maybe just 5% agreeing or sympathising with him.
And the numbers are probably far worse.
Soundwave would be as sympathetic
Thundercracker would make Prowl look nice with the "I was right" stuff
Starscream would likely laugh his ass off
We already see how the DJD feels about all this
The rest would just go aimless again like they did during the start of the new ongoing.
From what we have seen they by majority are really just a mob to be rallied together.
I keep wishing they had more Decepticons on the Lost Light, like Blitzwing was supposed to have the role Cyclonus had originally.
>I keep wishing they had more Decepticons on the Lost Light
I wish the Scavengers and Grimlock met the crew and joined up
I wish that when Team Tarn show up, Deathsaurus and his crew turn on them and opt to travel with the Lost Light
And most of all...I want this guy. He's too cool to just be a background generic, and I want to believe that he's the type who is loyal to Megatron to the point that he will follow Megatron religiously regardless of which faction he joins. (Unlike Soundwave and Tarn)
yeah it baffles me that Lugnut hasn't become a main character in the comics.
like why the fuck isn't he with Megatron's faction (other than the fact he only created in 2007).
>other than the fact he only created in 2007
Which itself isn't even an issue since Lockdown got a couple of issues worth of face time, and Knock Out was created even later and he had a pretty major role in the last Windblade series
well i mean it would have been difficult to make him part of Megatron's inner circle since for a long time Megatron kept being dead or MIA for a decent while.
Alright, in the interest of keeping this thread alive, simple question:
Which minor or obscure characters do you wish were more important, either through the comics or in future cartoon appearances?
Really though, some more stuff focused on Sharkticons, their kin, and their colony world would be fucking neat.
Nope, just slaves.
Gnaw was as smart as Sludge (not the highest of compliments I'll grant you), Battletrap, Bonecrusher and a few others. And smarter than Brawl.
He's spoken in complete sentences, has a motto, and his people have been explicitly mentioned as slaves.
Yup. As dumb as Blot.
I think the only bot dumber might be Abominus.
Cybertron Crosswise, Thunderblast, G1 Triggercon Ruckus and Windsweeper, HFTD Tomahawk and Terradive and Breacher.
Autovolt get out REEEEEEEEE
stay salty my friends.
I'm picturing Onslaught trying to teach Brawl military tactics and gives him some books, and Brawl looks at The Art of War, flips through the pages, and rips it in half while Onslaught is visibly distraught.
I wish Brawl wasn't so dumb. Like he shouldn't be book smart but being dumber than Sludge should be a crime.
You know, I'd never looked at his old profile before.
I kinda want to see him in the spotlight now, because goddamn is he nasty.
Don't worry, there are multiple instances of characters between the names used in different regions.
Like if they kill off Racemaster, can still be a Rapido, Race Engine, and Sirius.
And the Necrobot knows this because....?
>Alternate Lost Light is created
>Slaughtered by DJD
>Necrobot finds the destroyed Lost Light prior to it being cancelled out
>Records all the names
>Finds Flywheels shortly there after
Probably removed the names again when it turned out that there were still living versions of the characters dicking around
Did Optimus Prime get stabbed in the back by Springer/Judas at G'th Semane?
Didn't think so.
hi guys, i'm doing some christmas shopping for a friend who's into transformers. do you have any recommendations as to which writers/story arcs are decent and which to avoid when i'm looking at omnibus volumes?
she's kind of a poorfag and mostly has the newer IDW comics
the ones with the lost light and DJD
i can't for the life of me remember what they're called :(
thought she is pretty /toy/ too so i should check out the transformers thread there for a few ideas too
as tempting as that is, she would take it and ram it into my eye socket so i'm gonna have to pass. :(
probably gonna go with this, the hardcover version i found on ebay looks pretty neat-o.
If she has MTMTE (More than Meets the Eye), you could get her some Robots in Disguise. Or maybe Last Stand of the Wreckers.
Look for names John Barber and James Roberts.
If she has all the new stuff though, and you want to buy an Omnibus, there's ones for Spotlights like >>77939193 says, and a few other collections. An IDW Collection hardcover could be a really neat gift idea too.
For LSOTW you can get the TPB, the hardcover, or the collection with it (IDW Collection volume 6)
Believe it or not, this is also a viable idea. But only if you know that she likes that sort of stuff.
>that's all MTMTE fangirls really want anyway
Don't be coy anon, we know most fanboys probably have a neon pink fleshlight with "Arcee" down the side. Nothing to be ashamed of :^)
Get on with the program, dick+pussy is standard for robots.
No it's the other way around. Fetuses start as female and then end up developing differently with varying amounts of masculine traits.
Yeah, but I still don't like it:
-Electro shows up to die.
-Skram shows up really early on, then his next appearance is in the background years later, and gets killed shortly after.
-Sunstreaker isn't obscure, but he really got the short end of the stick compared to his bro in most media, and it's only gotten worse with time. He gets treated well in his initial appearances, then it all goes to shit with AHM, and while they tried to salvage it (and we got a dog out of it) he turned into a background character after that so it was pretty much it for him.
-Natulilator shows up to die.
-Apeface gets killed
And the list goes on.
Then just tweak then name slightly and you have a replacement. Like Effectro, Mercury, the police-cars Diaclone with name like Counter-Arch or something, Lobclaw, and Majompofa and you have new blank slates to tell what story you wanted.
At least you didn't like the Micromasters. I think most of them show up, then Arcee slices them to bits. They brought a few of them as "normal" transformers, but it wasn't the same.
Empire of Stone had Knockout and Grit, and Grit was pretty cool. We also got the Micromaster colony so even though Vanquish died in EoS, he's still alive too but as a moeblob by Scott.
Marvel UK includes the US run and a shit-ton of-- >>77940118 yeah this. And the writers were good.
UK has Wreckers.
Wait, I appreciate your honesty but care to elaborate on those two things? Did they do two issues for the length of one? And what did they censor?
I like his older works, it has its own style but I can understand it's not your jam.
1. Transformers UK was weekly so the US issues were sliced up into weekly installments of 8-9 pages. There were also changes made to reflect...
2. That the UK series had original stories, partly due to the fact that the two books launched around the same time and they had to have said filler so they did not burn through all the US material.
Most of the early filler was shit until around the time the movie came out. Simon Furman launched a massive three year long storyline involving Galvatron and the movie cast traveling back and forth to the present, to sidestep the fact that Hasbro ordered Optimus Prime and Megatron killed off while not mandating a time skip/usage of the movie characters by writers in the US.
The Galvatron storyline weaved through the US stories #20-50 and ultimately culminated in the climax of the series. After the storyline ended with the Time Wars epic, Furman was hired to write the US Transformer comic and the original stories in the UK run became back-ups and later, a secondary canon called "Earthforce" which was used to hype a UK exclusive re-issue campaign of a lot of older TF toys, before new stories stopped around issue #289. The series continued, reprinting older UK stories and American material, until around #333.
Keep reading the US run
The UK run, especially the Galvatron epic, is pretty disjointed because Furman was beholden to the US run and had to constantly stop/start it every couple of issues. They work better when you read the main UK stuff all in one run, especially in terms of contrasting it with the US run.
So read the US series, then pick up the following stories:
Fallen Angel/Galvatron: Wanted Dead Or Alive
Legacy of Unicron
Afterwords, if you want, you can pick up Earthforce, but like I said in my post above, Earthforce is in it's own continuity.
While they fucked up and continue to fuck up the US release TPBs, IDW's "Complete UK" trade series is your best bet for reading the UK series. It collects EVERYTHING UK related and has major footnotes for the US stories so you know how they relate with regards to the US series.
Slipstream is Rodney Dangerfield.
they really need to get rid of the whole 4 million years thing, just because it's G1 doesn't mean it makes sense nor is it necessary for all modern Transformers series.
Nah, Tailgate's been underground for 6 mill.
Megatron was built 5 million years ago, during the Silver Harvest. He issued his only demand for surrender 4 million years ago.
He explains it in his trial. All the parts he needed for his time machine, the cons had. Signing up as a double agent was the easiest way for him to get his hands on them.
Yeah, it's too ridiculous in scale. A four thousand year war would be just as valid.
I mean, the only reason it was 4 million years in the cartoon is that they crashed into earth back then.
Well, and the idea that stopping Megatron from causing the great war would be an awesome thing in general, yeah. But Quark was the nucleus behind it. The idea that became the idée fixe.
His decision to save everyone came before he used his time machine. That's why he (tried to) set it to home in on Megatron. So he could stop Megs killing a guard, and snowballing out of control.
And when that failed, he tried to go back to stop Megs from being beaten up by Whirl.
All of this would have stopped the Decepticonism movement from turning warlike, thus saving Quark. And of course, ensuring Brainstorm never existed in the first place.
