Why is this show so damn good? It's the perfect example of an adaptation, mixing new elements with familiar ones.

How'd you all like the Fall finale?
>>
Thank you for participating in the downfall of our culture.
>>
>"I want to see my parents again"

GOAT Bruce Wayne or what?
>>
>>77837797
What culture?
>>
Good that they found a way for Bruce and Silver to be together. I was annoyed thinking they'd changed her into just being a villain so they can't get together when they're older.
>>
Hyped for Mr Freeze and Hugo Strange. This season has been fucking solid so far
>>
>>77838044
Bruce doesn't love her though.
There's no reason why they should be together.
>>
>>77838068
>This season has been fucking solid so far
Galavan Kill Squad was hype as shit.
>>
>>77838103
Too bad it barely led to anything.
>>
>>77838081
You don't have to love someone to start a relationship with them. They get together when they're older (after having known eachother as kids), in the comics. So it's good the show allows that to happen and not just completely changed her into a villain.
>>
>>77838116
I guess.

Seeing Gordon kill Galavan was very satisfying though.
>>
>>77838157
Really all this needed to go to a 10/10 episode for me was to have penguins goons get jumped and devolve into an up close fight so all those monks got to use their moves and then have zsasz waltz in and start killing everyone. Or just zsasz in general, best character.
>>
Seeing as it's such a departure from what we know as Batman, I'd like to see The Gray Ghost show up and have Bruce be his Robin and later when Bruce is supposed to have it continued in the comics with new villains
>>
Who /coolasice/ here?
>>
>>77838454
>when Bruce is supposed to be Batman have it continued in the comics with new villains
>>
"A diamond place, a glowing great, a place you never leave"

It might have been plate, or grate, but either way I don't think I could have figured this riddle out. Does it actually work? Or is it just nonsense they wrote to show how smart Fox is?
>>
>>77838900
Grate as in fireplace, Glowing as in the embers behind it
>>
>>77838996
That's it? What about the diamond place thing? Is it just a term I've never heard before?

This is seriously bothering me. I know riddles are hard but there's no way anyone got home from a vague allusion to a fireplace.

I can't help but feel like this would be a pretty good show if it wasn't a Batman prequel.
All the characters but Zsasz just feel completely wrong - not in terms of acting, because the actors do their jobs well, but in terms of the plot
>>
>>77840928
>All the characters just feel completely wrong
That about sums up the current DC comics, so it's not really something to complain about.

>>
>>77838157

Not for me. I wanted to see more martial arts. If they were going to off him in the very next episode then it just seemed pointless to throw it in other than to say "by the way, I let you hit me all those times"
>>
>>77838103
that scene was so great
also Gordon taking out Galavan and Galavan knowing Gordon was going to do it with Penguin looking at Jim after the deed was done like if he did it for him
Seriously though he couldn't arrest him he has too many ties there was no Law No Justice for him
he was just Evil that needed to be cleansed
all I could think was This is the man that will one day Kill the Joker

I would never describe Gotham as good.

But holy shit is it entertaining.
>>
>>77838044

Bruce only bangs super villains.

Talia, Silver, Cat Woman
>>
>>77838103
Why no Zsasz though? The only reason i can think of is that Gordon wouldn't tolerate being near him.
>>
>>77846147
Possible hes still searching for Butch, only explanation I can think off
Not sure but I dont think he was at the march of the penguins either.
>>
>>77842842
I always find it interesting when they have her kicking people mostly because the stunt actors must be a little bit nervous; Carmen really can kill you with a kick to the head if they mess up a stunt.
>>
>>77846260
Also Gordon is trying to clear his name, you can't really do that if Zsasz slaughters everyone in the entire building.

why is this little shit so good?. Normally child/teemage actors are pretty akward like Selina but he is really out playing other characters.
>>

>>
The best thing about these last few episodes is that Bruce is finally starting to act like a kid that will become Batman. That “I had a full proof escape plan” line was great.
>>
>>77840928
Take it as an elseworld story instead of a prequel. This obviously isn't a prequel to any established batman.

>perfect example of an adaptation,
No. As entertaining as Gotham is,it's very much not a perfect adaptation.
>mixing new elements with familiar ones.
It does so with enough of a disregard that it's fresh and entertaining to the point where it's just nutty.

>How'd you all like the Fall finale?
When did Bruce become such a savant with women? Like goddammit he makes all the batches wet.

Also thank you for Alfred for handing out so many butlerings
>>
The amount of times little Bruce has seen guns save the day, most notably at the magic show but also his human sacrifice ceremony, there's no way he could grow up into pure nobody dies Batman. The message I am getting is guns are awesome and slaying criminals solves problems for good.
>>
>>77849442
I’ve got a feeling that the inevitable fallout of Gordon’s murder of Theo is going to be used somehow to justify why Bruce doesn’t kill.
>>
>>77837797
>Thank you for participating in the downfall of our culture.

Get over yourself, Gotham legitimately makes me feel like I'm watching a stage performance.
>>
If batman were to start carrying a piece, what kind should he use?
>>
>>77849559
Something small and effective.

Or a gun.
>>
>>77849559
Interestingly, in Fanfiction (I know) they always throw around the kinetic bullet thing. Bullets that somehow don't pierce, but push. Like a gun that shoots out Ant-Men?
>>
>>77842823

God her hair cut is so fucking retarded.
>>
>>77849442
Pretty much. Frankly nokills Batman would be a liability in something like a Mumbai style suicide attack, when the most ethical response is to immediately kill the criminal.
>>
>>77849675

Not unless it has a crazy police officer and a lovable mobster.
>>
I picked up the first season on DVD and have seen about half of it. It massively exceeded my expectations and I've become quite a fan. I suspect the nay-sayers are Batman purists who can't tolerate the deviations from the comic-book canon.
>>
>>77854729
For real? The start of Gotham was pretty shitty, it really stepped up after the mid season.
>>
>>77857045
I kinda liked the supervillain Law and Order aspect of the first season.
>>
>>77854729
I'm not gonna lie I was hoping Flask would have a bigger part than just getting a one off episode.

I wanted Gordon to beat his ass and leave him the woods naked
>>
So would next season be the last? It seems pretty logical in terms of Bruce's character arc. He's a novice at this point, but by the end of the next season he'd be ready to start being batman
>>
>>77857832
Unless they could use the 4th season to explore the league of shadows and it ends with him joining
>>
>>77837797

The show has become genuinely good

Sorry you can't enjoy things
>>
>>77842652
Underrated post
>>
>>77857904
No, I'd prefer the show take a different route when it comes to how Bruce gets his training to become Batman.

Just copying the Nolan films and have him fuck off to be a ninja is boring
>>
>>77858169
Oh I was under the impression that the LoS thing was normal Batman canon
>>
>>77858275
No he could just take a small martial arts class and stick to detective work with some punching and kicking
That's all I expect out of batman
>>
>>77858275
It probably is, for what can be considered "canon" insofar as Batman's origin story is concerned, but we shouldn't forget that it's already been done and was arguably the most boring part of Batman Begins.

>>77858826
This is fine.

I like the mixed tone of Gotham, where it has one foot in reality and another foot in capeshit zaniness. It's grounded yet creative and unfettered.

Gotham's Bruce Wayne is - for the moment - at his best when he's trying to figure stuff out, not interacting with people or trying to do anything physical. He needs to become the World's Greatest Detective first, then he needs to be capable of running Wayne Enterprises, and then we can talk about being a ninja with a cape and bat shaped throwing stars. Although a martial arts class or boxing is a good start.
>>
I would like to see the hitman scene of Gotham talked about a little more. That club with all those gimmicky hitmen are begging for another episode.
>>
>>77858943
All of his interactions with Silver in the latest three episodes were pretty good.

Did anyone notice that Galavan and Bruce had similar dialogue at points? Usually when trying to rationalize something in conversation
>>
>>77858943
>where it has one foot in reality and another foot in capeshit zaniness
rather than that, I'd say that 'real' Gotham finds itself rapidly circling down a zaniness vortex
>>
>>77859198
The characters also interact to the zany stuff in a way that makes it believable though. As if they're surprised, but not too surprised. They could always move to a different town if not
>>
>>77859156
Well, what I mean is that often Bruce is extremely naive, way too trusting, awkward, has a huge napoleon complex, and has to be assisted by Selena or Alfred in order to do things like trick Silver or get out of a kidnapping. We're not at the level where Bruce is capable of being completely independent with his activities.

He does figure things out on his own, though. Which we should have more of.

>>77859198
I think this show has a healthy mix of real and zany. On one level a major plot point is a police chief yelling at Gordon to get hard evidence, as if this was Law and Order, and on another level the same plot point involves Gordon and Penguin teaming up to gun down a bunch of monks. It should keep that mix of capeshit, crime drama, and police procedural. I love all aspects of this show, except for maybe shit like Barbara or Silver, which is just because the actresses aren't that good.
>>
Has there been any Robin references?

Like a Flying Graysons poster or something?
>>
>>77859367
Did you not watch the episode that introduced Jerome?
>>
>>77859367

The Flying Graysons helped solve a murder.

Can't remember if Dick was there yet...
>>
>>77859467
He hasn't been born yet.
>>
It's a fun show that gives off strong Burtonverse vibes and I love it for that very reason.
