You don't have to love someone to start a relationship with them. They get together when they're older (after having known eachother as kids), in the comics. So it's good the show allows that to happen and not just completely changed her into a villain.

Really all this needed to go to a 10/10 episode for me was to have penguins goons get jumped and devolve into an up close fight so all those monks got to use their moves and then have zsasz waltz in and start killing everyone. Or just zsasz in general, best character.

Seeing as it's such a departure from what we know as Batman, I'd like to see The Gray Ghost show up and have Bruce be his Robin and later when Bruce is supposed to have it continued in the comics with new villains

The best thing about these last few episodes is that Bruce is finally starting to act like a kid that will become Batman. That “I had a full proof escape plan” line was great.

No. As entertaining as Gotham is,it's very much not a perfect adaptation.

The amount of times little Bruce has seen guns save the day, most notably at the magic show but also his human sacrifice ceremony, there's no way he could grow up into pure nobody dies Batman. The message I am getting is guns are awesome and slaying criminals solves problems for good.

I picked up the first season on DVD and have seen about half of it. It massively exceeded my expectations and I've become quite a fan. I suspect the nay-sayers are Batman purists who can't tolerate the deviations from the comic-book canon.

It probably is, for what can be considered "canon" insofar as Batman's origin story is concerned, but we shouldn't forget that it's already been done and was arguably the most boring part of Batman Begins.

I like the mixed tone of Gotham, where it has one foot in reality and another foot in capeshit zaniness. It's grounded yet creative and unfettered.

Gotham's Bruce Wayne is - for the moment - at his best when he's trying to figure stuff out, not interacting with people or trying to do anything physical. He needs to become the World's Greatest Detective first, then he needs to be capable of running Wayne Enterprises, and then we can talk about being a ninja with a cape and bat shaped throwing stars. Although a martial arts class or boxing is a good start.

I would like to see the hitman scene of Gotham talked about a little more. That club with all those gimmicky hitmen are begging for another episode.

Well, what I mean is that often Bruce is extremely naive, way too trusting, awkward, has a huge napoleon complex, and has to be assisted by Selena or Alfred in order to do things like trick Silver or get out of a kidnapping. We're not at the level where Bruce is capable of being completely independent with his activities.

He does figure things out on his own, though. Which we should have more of.

I think this show has a healthy mix of real and zany. On one level a major plot point is a police chief yelling at Gordon to get hard evidence, as if this was Law and Order, and on another level the same plot point involves Gordon and Penguin teaming up to gun down a bunch of monks. It should keep that mix of capeshit, crime drama, and police procedural. I love all aspects of this show, except for maybe shit like Barbara or Silver, which is just because the actresses aren't that good.
