look at all those dead and depowered x-men
it's sad when Id prefer the characters I like to be forgotten about and fade into obscurity then used because I know it would just be for event fodder

Say what you want about Chris Claremont but at least he knew how to juggle a ton of characters, both old and new.

I think the biggest problem with comics now is that writers are coming from the "Wolverine is so cool" or "I got into X-Men through the cartoons". It became less about the ensemble universe and more about the popular and favorites. It's going to be worse when the current crop of writers leave and new writers who only know the MCU take over. And then there's the awful mentality of "Marvel has too many characters"

Wasn't Surge in the second issue of Extraordinary X-Men?
I liked those early volumes. There was something about them that reminded me of Autumn that made me feel cozy.
