When is that in the trailer?
QUESTION!
If the Scarlet Witch did get a firm creative team instead of this anthology Crap, who would you put on it?
>>77822467
It's in the leaked comic con footage not the official trailer.
Oh good. There's this creepy as hell/autistic as fuck scarlet basher that is insanely upset that anyone likes Wanda and fills up every SW thread with huge walls of text of why she is the worst thing ever. I assume he's Bendis.
Glad to see he hasn't seen this one yet.
>>77822676
Robinson/Rudy, but I like the shuffling teams. If the book's a hit it can get a consistent artist and Robinson can do his thing.
I need to find that Uncanny Avengers Annual, apparently it's like a 0 issue

Don't worry Anon, he's distracted by the "Kitty Pryde is my waifu" thread
is there a recommended reading list for Wanda?
i WANT her to be one of my favorite characters, but thats easier said than done
are you guys ready for dillon wanda frank
Can somebody explain to me why she was flirting with her brother and robots in Millar's Ultimates? I don't read a lot of Marvel so I'm assuming it's a reference to something in the main universe like Hank Pym being a wife beater.

>>77825770
Scarletwitching' s tumblr had a decent Wanda rec IIRC.
>>77821527
Wanda has been my Marvel waifu for a very long time. She and Evo Rogue were my first ones. I like that she can both be kind of gothy like>>77821766
and just qt vaguely foreign girl like in >>77823942. Kind of ironic that my favorite Marvel character is Quicksilver and he was going to be my self-insert in the MCU before AoU happened because I look kind of like Aaron Taylor Johnson. But Ultimate Pietro/Wanda and all that. I'm glad Elizabeth Olsen got casted as her over Saorsie fatso Ronan. Makes fapping to her even easier.
>>77826535
this is what i found there, kind of eh, but.....
>I’m going to do a detailed recommendation post one of these days. The problem is a lot of the things I would want to recommend to you are obscure and hard to find or very old, which makes them terrible recommendations.
>The answer, unfortunately, is still Avengers Volume 3. Start at the beginning. Quit before you get to Chuck Austen. I would say quit before you get to Geoff Johns, but your mileage may vary. There is also this TPB, which is coming out in April.
>If you’re looking to get caught up on the past ten years of stories, Avengers: Children’s Crusade is (again, unfortunately) the best place to do it. It’s not a good place. That story has 900 characters, and I genuinely hate parts of it. But it’s the best place if you want to catch up. The truth about Wanda is there is no perfect place for a new reader to start because the last few years have been some kind of hellish nightmare and she’s a character who is very much defined by her convoluted history so “new reader friendly” is out the window. But she’s super awesome, I swear!
>A lot of people are going to tell you to start with Disassembled and House of M. Those people are wrong. Wanda doesn’t even speak in Disassembled, and you need a PhD in Wanda History to understand it. And House of M is about Wolverine anyway.
>Other things that aren’t in that original post:
> Vision & the Scarlet Witch Vol. 2
> Steve Englehart’s Avengers run
> Mystic Arcana: Scarlet Witch (Honestly, I would sorta, kinda recommend this collection, which has MA:SW, even though some of it is really bad.)

>Elizabeth Olsen got casted as her over Saorsie fatso Ronan
You know, you just know that they told Whedon to cast whoever he wanted except Summer Glau for the role even before he could speak, so Saorsie is the only name started by S that he could remember.
>>77821586

>>77821527

>>77828535

I reckon Scarlet Witch will get a new costume from Clea in Infinity War.
>>77827078
Scarletwitching is excellent; her write-ups are well-informed and really show a great understanding of Wanda. Comic book writers should read her stuff.
>>77827387
Olsen is great, though. She has the ethereal look, the formal speech (even if her accent was a bit wobbly), the intense vulnerability, the dangerousness, she really nails it. She seems to genuinely love Wanda and enjoy playing her.
>>77830529
Black/dark hair long and flowing.
Wanda is just such a fantastic character, yet comic book writers have repeatedly squandered her potential.
To me she has that combination of power and vulnerability that makes me root for her. She's an outsider who sincerely cares for others.
She's not taught like Strange, she has to learn all this weird shit with little help. Her powers are dark and she must fight to retain her goodness.
I really hope we get that arc of self-belief and realizing just how strong she is in the MCU.
There's so much more to Wanda than "cray cray" yet that's all many people seem to know.
Fuck those people at Marvel who called her lame.
I really do believe that had it not been for Joss Whedon she would be pretty much dead as a Marvel character.

>>77837539
The movies really did save lots of good characters from destruction. Iron Man had been so OOC for so long that him being a cold douche was becoming IN character, and the movie saved him. The Abnett and Lanning cast of cosmic guys was probably gonna be dead for years before the movie rejuvenated them. Granted being written by Bendis may have been a fate worse than death. I doubt we'd be seeing much of Scott Lang if not for his movie. All these characters are at least getting second and third chances because of the popularity of these films.
Wow all the movie shit sure ruined this thread quick.
>>77841314
Its beautiful.
>>77841397
Stan Lee's Wanda is more modern than Bendis's IMHO.
>>77841264

Chaos Magic.
Interestingly Whedon/MCU Wanda is more the kind of sci-fi/fantasy hybrid, while Robinson opts for Englehart and his mystic pagan take.
>>77838565
Some of that writing is beautiful and much deeper than you'd expect from a comic book.
>>77838898
I hope we get a brief scene like this in Civil War. Its important.
I want to cuddle Wanda and tell her everything will be okay, and that she will never be alone ever again.
>>77841699
Lee's Wanda was a silver age princess but she was a lot more aggressive than the other ones he wrote at the time.
>>77843240
I always liked Jean and Wanda's early days rivalry, its a shame it didn't pop up again.
Didn't Jean think Wanda was going to steal all the men?
>>77843248
Yeah. Real pity
>>77843380
It's funny that Wanda beats Jean in every alternate reality.
George Perez's Wanda costume is......... very George Perez. Apparently he based this version on his wife who is or was a belly dancer.
>>77844164
In the early issues of Ultimate X-Men they hadn't switched over to having "realistic" costumes yet, so Scarlet Witch was just wearing her regular costume without the tights. And she could fly for no apparent reason.
>>77844193
Wanda's been able to fly for years by that point.
>>77844217
In 616 at that time she still couldn't fly or even levitate for long periods of time, and she had to have flying characters carry her.
I don't know when it was decided that she could fly but it seems a given now.
>>77844066
I think it's because Jean is an X-Man and Wanda is an Avenger and X-Men are supposed to be the underdogs when the teams clash.
On X-men habits fighting Wanda.
Nothing goes right when Rogue tries to absorb Wanda's powers.
Artists who clearly seem to enjoy drawing Wanda: Perez, Jim Cheung, John Byrne, Olivier Coipel... I'm not sure about more recent artists because so few have ever gotten to draw her at all.

Wanda always felt like that kind, motherly figure that would be in everyone's corner and kept the family together.
When she was gone the avengers just lost something to me.
>I am beset by women!
I love Scarlet Witching's breakdowns of Wanda.
That's some devotion right there.
>>77844911
Scarlet Witching is a really good Tumblr fan blog. The analysis of the comics is usually tough-minded but fair, and the writer is able to criticize what he/she considers sexist or inappropriate without coming off as someone who thinks everything is sexist/racist. None of the "if you disagree with me you are a terrible person" attitude that Tumblr is known for.
Yeah. Hope Robinson rewards that devotion.
>>77844511
>Olivier Coipel
Sense he isn't on any new book announced so far (they are probably saving him for Civil War 2) let us pray he gets a issue on SW at least.
Closest she ever got to fighting Zatanna (why didn't they have that fight in JLA-Avengers?)
Slott's She-Hulk pitch originally had her and Wasp playing more of a role in it as Jen's friends, and then fucking Disassembled happened and now Wanda has no friends.
>>77845151
Ah, the days when Wanda could say "No more..." and not have it be the setup for another House of M reference.
>>77844511
That costume is the best one she ever had. I wish she looked more like that on the mcu.
>>77845151
Yeah. Carol's editor hates her. Steve is too busy being old and stuff. People have forgotten Clint and Tony are some of her oldest friends. Simon, the most supportive figure in her life after CC is inside Rogue.
At least she has Agatha. Hope Robinson digs deep and brings back her magic student and her superpowered neighbors from Viz and The SW.
Too bad the Ultimate universe never went anywhere with that Wanda/Scott romance they were teasing at first.
>>77845312
Because she and Pietro got drafted for The Ultimates and they were different characters when they turned up in that book. Ultimate Wanda was originally a straight-up sexpot (with terrible early '00s computer coloring).

That's what we got now.
>>77845984
Marvel also retconned Wanda into an experiment. I mean, if you wanna swallow that, go right ahead XD
I'll give you this, I need to read Axis, where I assume Doom is cemented more as the causer of certain woes, though it it no way clears Wanda's earlier mental instability or her searching fro Doom in the first place.

Do you think being related to Magneto has in anyway ever helped Wanda as a character or something?
He's the biggest anchor around her neck. I hope she never has another plot with mutants again.
>>77844782
Sulky Cap shuffles off like a told off schoolboy. Based Wanda.
>>77846199
From the reaction the retcon got, her lineage making the blockbuster HoM event (regardless of all the "Not Muh Wanduh", and Children's Crusade, her connection to Magneto did help her popularity. I wouldn't give a rats ass about her otherwise.
That last part is a lie, I'm a sucker for reality warpers.
>>77844716
Same here. The whole point is they are this family and that's where the heart of what made the Avengers appealing to me.
>>77846199
Being related to Magneto was interesting, more for Quicksilver than her, but still pretty interesting, more than any of their other parents.
The problem is that because of the X-Men cartoons people got it in their heads that these characters had no identity apart from being Magneto's children, which was stupid, but that doesn't mean it was a bad idea to make them his kids.
>>77845496
So fucking cool.
>>77845236
This sums up why the Avengers are now shit. They are just a random bunch of characters thrown together.
Despite the ridiculous late '90s costume I miss when Thor and the other Avengers gave her props for being awesome
>>77845089
There was one page where panels were arranged to make it look like they were fighting each other. But they never got to actually interact.
>>77846549
Yeah, Wanda was a very unifying force on the avengers between roster changes. And the nasty erasure of the old guard that Bendis commited
had no one to pick up her slack.
So it's all divided as hell.
I really, really want if SW becomes a success for a more classic team reunion.

Wanda is probably one of my favourite characters due to the fact that she seems to have a lot of untapped potential, looks great and does not seem that forthcoming even with what she can do.

Marvel doesn't have enough female heroes for them to kill off in the MCU besides death by origin.
Not only is Kitty cuter than Wanda, she's also a better jew.
>>77852427
Wanda isn't a Jew.
She's a gypsy. She was raised by gypsy parents and jewness only counts from the mom's side and her ex-mom is also a gypsy,
Not that it matter since Mags isn't her daddy anymore. She's 100% gypsy,
>>77852427
Go home Bendis, you're drunk.
You made Wanda not a Jew anymore,
Her power is being a drama queen.
She does have a type.
I imagine they are going to link her with Dr Strange in the movieverse? Maybe she can be his liason with the Avengers so he can do his own wacky shit in other dimensions while not completely overshadowing everyone else?

>>77853102
Marvel doesn't really do reboots, regardless of what people keep saying about Secret Wars.
If something doesn't work in the mythos, they just never talk about it again. Like how we never mention that Ms Marvel gave birth to her own rapist or any time Tony fucked up. Seriously we never even got a conclusion to Superior Iron Man, and they're not even bringing it up.
I guess if you're the Scarlet Witch your evil deeds follow you to the ends of the earth but when you're Iron Man they are brushed off without even acknowledging them. This is how Bendis works people.

>>77827387

>>77853274

>>77853377
She's responsable for the incident that makes everyone push the Sokovia Accords.
>>77847957
Cap's faith in Wanda is something I hope the Russos show because it generates the best feels.
>>77852607
This is why people love Wanda. She's so earnest and even worries about Thor (fucking Thor) more than herself.
>>77852773
I hope so. Her being linked to Strange makes much more sense than any of the mutant stuff did desu. She pretty much is Strange's liaison with the Avengers as he can't be arsed with the team. Wanda does the Strange hand gesture in the Age of Ultron end credits diarama.
Their hand movements reflecting their different talents is going to be a cool thing; Strange's probably very deliberate slow reflecting knowledge while Wanda's is creative.
>>77853169
She might make a paradise for Vision if she stores him in her head after Thanos wrecks him.
House of M if it were very loosely adapted and was actually about Wanda and explored her might actually be good.
>>77853253
Wanda's necklace in MCU holding a "Nivashi Stone" would be a cool reference. It wouldn't do anything just a neat reference.
>>77853529
> And probably wrecks Rhodey.
(though I have a suspicion, from the D23 leak, Hawkeye holding her hand, and Bettany's comments, that Vision uses the Mind Gem on Wanda and shit gets out of hand).
It kind of pisses me off though that the Russos emphasise its a Cap film yet make Wanda the trigger. She'd better get to do some major hero shit in the finale otherwise its cheap.
>>77845200
I can see her teaming up with Strange after Strange's movie drops.
All i want is a Vision and The Scarlet Witch movie.
Still waiting for them to pull the trigger on this.
>>77838316
>Erik having sexual desire for Wanda
>Her performing sexy acts for his pleasure
Oh, yes, this makes me hard.
The problem with Wanda is her powers were never properly defined (Stan & Roy even lampshaded that no one knew what her powers were) so they change with literally every writer. No matter who writes her she'll always be doing things she couldn't do last year.
The Marvel Handbook in the '80s even said that contrary to some portrayals by some writers, she couldn't levitate herself, transmute objects, and other stuff that she now does routinely. It's tough to be a top-tier superhero when no one knows what you can do.
(Then again Quicksilver has fairly well-defined powers and he was never popular.)
>>77857392

The tiki bar being a meeting place for magic users is also going on in the current Dr Strange. He meets Wanda there.
How does "probability" transmute metal?
>>77858808
Vibranium is on the Marvel periodic table, as well as everything else that makes up the suit.
So, I guess she's manipulating the probability that every goddamn molecule in the suit will spontaneously lose or gain enough protons and neutrons and shit to become iron.
Wanda by that point has learned actual magic besides her probability powers.

A fortnight ago El Mayimbe dropped a blind item that a Civil War cast member will be in Doctor Strange.
Doctor Strange is the only place Wanda can go to master her powers, really.
>>77857681
The thing is probability control should be one of the most powerfull ability. Everything rely on probability, even how our body works.
Of course flying isn't one of those thing, so maybe it's better if her powers are defined as being more magic than science.
>>77863862
There's a possibility that the Stark bombs were neutralized by her probability powers. I do definitely think her powers were there all along.
>>77852245
I really like Manara's take on the character. She's really sexy and the magic effects are nice.

I'd like to remind everyone in this thread that the Scarlet Witch book, written by James Robinson, IS coming next week and I expect all of you to buy it because I refuse to live in a world where Wanda has to be written by inferior writers like that kek, Bendis. That goes doubly so for any of you who liked Earth 2 and find what was done to it after Robinson left a travesty.
I'm serious guys! We always get psyched for stuff like this and then we don't follow through on it and the book ends up getting canceled. I am not going through another Yost's New Warrior fiasco. That book had a lot of potential and now because you guys didn't support it, Kaine is dead. He's not really dead, they pretty much showed he's coming back, but they definitely would have resolved that plot thread by now if he still was on a team that was being published. Also, I miss Aracely. Now c'mon guys!
>>77852277
When she meets Doctor Strange she will truly become the Scarlet Witch. She will get a much more Witchy costume then.
>>77853348
>the only way the Avengers could compete with the JL is by buffing Wanda and nerfing the Flash
Embarassing
>>77864790
I am definitely getting the Scarlet Witch comic definitely. I read the UK Transformers comic as a kid and that had cycling artists (Geoff Senior being based as fuck and Bryan Hitch and Lee Sullivan worshipping him) some of whom were shit, so the rotating roster is not a big deal to me.
Frankly the way the Avengers are these days, I'm kind of glad she's not there, as her role in the team is not possible in teams which have zero dynamic.
>>77864790
Robinson is even more of a hack than Bendis. He's responsible for Cry for Justice and has his own pet characters ("muh Shade!") that he forces down our throats and no-one else cares about.
>>77845312
This won't be happening anytime soon.
>>77865486
>Doctor Strange will bring flashy comic-accurate costumes into the MCU, guys, I swear!
And Thor 3 will be the serious one with real consequ--oh, fuck it, let's get the guy who did the funny vampire movie to make it more like GOTG.
>>77865813
Anon, I'm gonna need you to calm down and take a nice big glass of 'shut the fuck up'. Then when you're finished I need you to go and look up Robinson's Earth 2 run. If you can read the first two arcs of that run without changing your mind, you're welcome to come back here and keep talking shit.
However I must warn you, read ONLY Robinson's parts of Earth 2. Any others writer on that book will deeply damage your brain.
It'll make you sick.
>>77847149
That's where Bendis really damaged her more than anything else:
Bendis:
> Made Hawkeye be killed by her, hate her and rape her.
> Made Carol hate her. Then the Cap Marvel editor sustained that so long their friendship is all but dead.
> Made Vision hate her when he came back.
> The crazy tag makes it very difficult to have her lead an Avengers team ever again. We'll never have West Coast Avengers ever again.
> The X-Men hate her because of HoM. That actually may be good though as she's well rid of Magneto and the muties. I'd be happy if she never interacted with them again.
Bendis couldn't poison Steve and Stephen against her. Those two are her bestest bros now.
>>77865858
> Having a film called Ragnarok and making it a comedy. Maybe Thor and Hulk form a rock band called Rag Na Rok and hilarity ensues.
Stephen and Wanda have so much potential it makes my imagination cum buckets...please don't fuck up.
>>77866194
You mean Stephen Strange? The last time I remember them in the same comic was when he used the eye of agamotto to show her that her kids were fake. What happened after? I feel like he should have been able to control that situation a lot more than he did.
>>77845934
I don't think there were any jumping effects in JJ. It was just a lot of cuts and camera placement.
>>77864049
I brought this up on here a while ago. Seems curious how the exact bomb that would've blown them up turned out to be a dud.
Fellow I was speaking to suggested that they could show it with a flashback to the twins' childhood, with Quicksilver out-running some other kids in a race.
>>77866329
She's in the Strange solo comic as one of his mystic chums at the Bar with no Doors. When she acquired magiks, Strange offered to train her in fact, but instead Agatha Harkness got the gig.
After Xavier tried to "help" her by shouting at her alot. The stupid thing about HoM is when Strange meets her he talks her round and is caring and sympathetic, and does far better than Xavier.
I mean, fuck, she's in Genosha with Mags and Chuck, she should be with Cap and Strange ffs.
>>77866644
Strucker or List said their powers are latent. That makes the most sense to me. The Stark bomb is textbook probability manipulation and reflects Stark's own origin.
I definitely think that makes the most sense. The Mind Stone unlocked some of her powers...I think in CW during the airport fight Vision accidentally unlocks it and as her powers are connected to her emotions it leads to her going apeshit on Stark and injuring Rhodey.
>>77838413
Man it's impressive how much better the writing got as the years went on, isn't it? There was a time every fucking line was finished with an exclamation point.
>>77868017
Now we've evolved to question marks everywhere.
>>77868082
Agreed
>>77866644
If you look at the CW trailer Hawkeye is holding her hand while missiles are exploding around her.
Him holding her hand suggests she might be halucinating...explosions around her would bring bad memories back.
So we might very well see the bomb...we might even see red mist surrounding the bomb.
More like Scarlet Thick.
>>77871405
Yes please
>>77865858
Actually, I think the comics Wanda costumes have not been "witchy" enough. Wada has changed that somewhat.
I am hoping Clea gives her a witchy and ornate costume.
>>77867521
You forget Wanda was psycho when Xavier and Mags where dealing with her, literally rewriting reality to her whims. She was in a calm yet not-too-lucid state when Strange got to her.
Strange also busted her ass in Dissassembled, because bich was cray cray
>>77871405
>>77871768
Strange told her having magic babies was fine and she was being silly to worry about it.
Wanda never wanted the kids, indeed, Paty Cockrum told Steve Englehart Wanda would have no interest in children.
Notice how comic writers constantly remind us of Wanda's HoM antics yet gloss over Strange incompetently not realizing the babies were chunks of Mephisto.

>>77879073
>She was fine where she was in C-list.
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA
So big slot in AvX, great spot in UAvengers, and her own solo are bad things? I guess she should stay in the C-list then, screw relevance.
>>77879153
She's getting her solo because of the movie.
Whedon saved her with that film. He would have picked her even without HOM because he likes old avengers And you know it.
Without him picking her no one would have ever used Wanda again because of HOM's poison.
Uncanny's Wanda sole purpose was to job. All she did was get beaten up every issue.

>>77865593
Well, yeah, the Avengers are much less powerful and overall much less famous than the JLA (especially back then when Marvel's biggest stars weren't Avengers). Until the MCU the Avengers "big 3" was pathetic compared to the JLA's in terms of fame.
On the other hand the fact that the Avengers was mostly about B and C listers made it a more entertaining book because it was where characters like Scarlet Witch and Vision got all their development.

>>77885492
I loved her. I hope James doesn't disappoint.
>>77884773
I like how you sat back and let Vision shit on her, Carol.
"As such, the Vision's pronouncement of perpetual, irreversible exile upon Wanda erupts without the slightest foreshadowing, It's a common enough trick in Bendis's Avengers tales, to sidestep narrative logic in favour of great extravagant strokes of ham in order to capture the reader's attention. Here, Bendis decides that the Vision, the most kindly, the most sympathetic, the most purposefully human of Marvel's characters despite his android origins and appearance, shall suddenly become a vengeful, nasty bully. What can possibly be the reason for the Vision turning on the woman he once loved so in this particular fashion? It can't be the trauma of the temporary death which Wanda subjected him to, because Bendis has given us not the slightest evidence of anything but a certain degree of angst and frustration afflicting the synthezoid since his return to life. (He's been dead before, and utterly deconstructed in Byrne's regrettable West Coast Avengers run, so he's not even facing an entirely unfamiliar experience here.) Yes, we might expect that being transformed into a robot killing machine, after the way of superhero tales, might profoundly upset even an Avenger who's somewhat used to such things, but what Bendis is showing us in AvX #0 is a complete transformation in the Vision's personality, and there's been no sign of any such thing until this point."

So, I've never gotten Scarlet Witch. She is a mutant right? She seems practically a sorcerer, or does she alter reality?
>>77886132
Being a Wanda and wondy fan is suffering.
>>77886221
Probability manipulation + sorcery is easiest explanation.
An elder God of chaos chose her to be his vessel on earth. The probability powers are a result. She learned sorcery to boost and better control her abilities.
Girl born with evil powers uses them for good is simplest explanation I think with all her retcons.
The reality warping was because of a power up.
>>77886221
She is a trained witch. Agatha Harkness taught her.

>>77886624
Used to be. She and Pietro got retconned out of being mutants.
Her mutant power was supposed to be energy manipulation. Chthon messed with it at birth to be probability manipulation.
>>77886716
>Pietro not a mutant
Wait. How'd he get his powers then? Same as wanda?
They really should have blamed Chthon in children's crusade.
Or Kang identity. He's always been obsessed with Avenger women.
>>77886763
High Evolutionary is the source for Wanda and Pietro's birth powers. Chthon just hijacked those in that case.
>>77886716
Which makes her not really a mutant. Chthon is an Elder God who wouldn't wipe his arse with Magneto, so really the mutant thing is like a blip.
