What's your favourite Christmas special?
We're moving right along through these threads, the storytimes have been great!
Jeez, not even December and we're on 4. But there's usually a bit of a lull after a week or so before it picks up again closer to Christmas.
AFKQW1X24750
Oh, and favorite Christmas special is Year Without A Santa Claus because of thiscoolmotherfucker
>>77820928
Yeah #3 went by quite fast.
Permission to storytime Alex Robinson's A Kidnapped Santa Claus?
>>77820836
Christmas Comes to Pac-Land cannot be topped, in my estimation.
>>77821048
Ok the lists have been updated to this point. We've at 19 gifts given in less then 4 days.
Damn Anons you Jolly.

If we can beat our last year, 194 anons entered and only 15 didn't get gifts. (ignoring people posting double gifts, lists that were dead links, and people missing addresses.)
But 179 is an amazing number, and some of the people did get double gifts either from the same person or due to delays in filtering the ungifted list.

I would have to say Muppet Christmas Carol or the episode of Dr Who that I actually started liking Matt Smith, A Christmas Carol.

I think you're clear to go Johnny.
What? We're starting already?
It's been a hectic season for me, we got approved for an apartment ... on friday. it is now monday, and the move in date is tomorrow. So I'm grateful they gave us enough notice for that. Also my girlfriend decided to go and get everything we need by herself and is now in a permanent state of stress because she's doing it all even though there are other people who can be doing stuff too if she'd let them.
Ugh. But anyways, happy chrimbus wishes to you guys. here's my list!
10I09O7UJSEFY
So that's my holiday season so fqar, h
>>77821699
Wow, congrats on the apartment man. I actually signed a lease last Sunday, and I'm moving in this weekend!
>>77821739
Yeah it should be fun if I can afford it. It's me, my girlfriend, and 2 friends who are the funniest people I've ever met. But they're good guys and we all get along so it'll work pretty well. The place is nice, too. Aren't you a Minnesotanon? Because the place is in Eagan.maybe you can help us move
>>77821817
Wow, that's coincidental. My current place is in Apple Valley, and the place I'm moving to is
>>77821699
congrats on the apartment hope your move goes as smoothly as possible
Damn autopost. The place I'm moving to is in Northeast Minneapolis.
Aaaand I'm gonna pass on the helping you move thing. Mostly because I'm actually busy tomorrow.
The big man himself.
>>77821699
Mazel tov. I could never move so quickly. I have too much shit to move. Last time I did it took me over a month to get must of my shit moved, and in the end I still needed a box truck for the rest.
>>77821848
>>77821877
That's alright mate, maybe my u-haul will cross paths with your u-haul. and then we'll slip on the ice and crash into each other.
>>77821875
thanks pal
>>77821699
Congrats on the apartment, but sorry for having to move during the winter, done that a few times now and I can say I hate moving but it's at least twice as annoying with snow and ice.
>>77822020
Let me offer one more piece of advice:make sure you add an address to your wishlist so a certain someone can send you something.
And that'll do it for me!
>>77821969
I think we're only getting the essentials moved in. I still have to pack up all my comics. But since I work retail, I have absolutely no time to do anythign whatsoever, because 1-9 shifts are a surefire way to make sure as much of the prime daytime hours are wasted as possible.
/2JMMIX1GD8A15.co.uk
If there's one thing I hate about winter its cycling to work when the weather is shit.
Should be able to bu someone something around the 14th which should give time for delivery.
>>77822055
Oh, son of a- I used this list last year, wonder why the address didn't save? Thanks for that! Hopefully I'm gift-able now.
>>77822029
Thank you. As long as we survive the experience, I'm okay with it.

Would you guys be interested in me taking requests for photo shopping /co/ related things into a Christmas theme? Like this image I made for example? If so then I'm taking photoshop requests
>mfw my list has already been removed from the ungifted list
You guys are awesome, I can't believe how fast you did this already. I was worried it was gonna be a repeat of last year waiting until the last week. I'm also not peeking so I can have a good surprise when it comes.
I'm not buying anything until December, so you better hold onto your butts. I'm thinking 4 $50 purchases for people.

It's a Toshiba Satellite my wife surprised me with on my birthday, since our daughter accidentally knocked our old (admittedly very old) one off the table and cracked the hinge.
>>77822924
>it's a great read
I've been in a real Ghostbusters binge lately and have been considering the IDW omnibus with the holiday one-shots and a couple of mini-series, but glancing at it, the art was pretty bad in some of them. Maybe rereading this will set my mind one way or the other.
My daughter's also taken a liking to Ghosbusters as well, running around the house with a vacuum hose attachment and shouting "Let's catch those ghostes, daddy!" for the past few days.

>>77820836
Is it ok to give a gift without getting one? Don't want anyone wasting money on me.
>>77823070
I've always been a GB fanatic, I need to catch up on the IDW comics but my LGC/LCS closed about two years ago I've only been able to buy the first of the total containment hardbacks.
But as for GB stuff I've got the legos, a hocky jersy from geeky jersy, all of the funko pop, the mass histogram version of the board game, posters, movies, video game, and a large box of the real ghostbusters toys from my childhood.
>>77823104
Oh it would be a little big but I'd recommend http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002JVW4ZC just for the backpack
>>77823222
ehh i prefer 10 to 8 although 7 will still hold no1 in my heart
>>77823267
it's all up to you, even putting in your wishlist doesn't guarantee getting a gift it's all random as we would run into issues trying to do specific pairings for this
>>77823267
Yes, giving without expectation of reward is okay.
>>77823229
Haha!
>>77823267
Perfectly fine, anon.
>>77823270
I've got a reprint of one of the theatrical posters, the video game, and the Venkman POP! (I'm seriously considering tracking down the others). I think the missus may've taken my subtle hints about the Total Containment HC to heart for Christmas too, so we'll see.
I also picked up the 2015 Annual yesterday, but haven't read it yet.
Kinda crazy that the larger adult-size is cheaper than the child-size.
>>77823388
yea that's one of the issues with thirdparty sellers on Amazon, they get to set their prices and they're more then happy to price gouge. I would recommend the 1988 toy proton pack but to get once with the caster as well if almost 100 bucks you can almost get the parts to make a proper replica at that cost.
Ho Ho Ho, I be awake and ready to start the day!

Yeah... I used to have the trap when I was a kid and used it as a car for my Ray figure, since I didn't have the Ecto-1.
>>77823543
Not bad here, it's my weekend and I've got nachos in the making.
Oh and thanks to Prof Z reading one of the best character developments Dr. Venkman ever went through.
>>77823587
I still have the trap, most of my figures, the firehouse, and a busted to all hell ecto1. I've been meaning to pull them and all of my old tmnt out of storage get them cleaned up and put them up on ebay. I've started a few times then see how little some of the auctions go for and put them back in storage.
>>77823543
Off to work regrettably. So I've been better.

At least get Slimer and Staypuft. I have them both and they are great. I got the toasted Staypuft.
>>77823639

I only ever had the trap, which is long gone, and a cartoony fright reaction Ray whose head raised up to make his eyes look huge when you pushed his arm down.
>>77822845
it's okay dude, no big deal and you deserve major props for running this

>>77822453
Alright done, ill take some requests later today, I might even make a contest of it, Happy Holidays /co/!
>>77823682
I've considered Slimer for my daughter since she loves him in the cartoon, but I've always loved the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. Back when I was a kid, I drew a really wonky one that my grandmother transferred onto cloth and sewed into a pillow/doll kind of thing. I've kept it all these years and passed it onto my daughter. I'll see if I can find it and post a pic later.
And that's all, folks. I hope you've all enjoyed!

>>77824414

>>77824830

>>77824894
I just keep the pastebin organized, it's all of the fellow anons and tripfiends that keep the threads alive, without them there would be no Christmas.... well no /co/ Christmas.
>>77824910
I dunno the emp is pretty elaborate. I had a plan once for my old job in a call center to use this huge magnet I have and a car battery in a backpack and roll it around to wipe the hdd of every computer in range. Just add in some more stuff like trip wires or calls from inside the building and the emp would be pretty elaborate.

It's not even December yet.
>>77826623
you may be the same anon from before but we've only had 15 ungifted last year and only 3~4of those were ungifted from the year before.
There could be several things causing an issue, like if once of your family members or local friends uses the list and buys you something during the event I would see that as a purchase and end up removing you from the ungifted list, or if your list has no address tied to it and no one can purchase anything for you. Then you wouldn't be in the 15 that missed out last year because I removed all of the ungiftable lists after sending messages to all of the owners asking them to update.
>>77826716

Reposting:
For those of you who weren't here the last couple of years, I did various Christmas contests and would gift someone who I arbitrarily chose as the winner. I intend to keep that tradition alive this year.
I decided to get started with a (relatively) big challenge: Write a Christmas story featuring /co/ characters. Maybe Lex Luthor decides he hates Santa because he challenges human superiority. Maybe the Flash has to sub in for Santa one night and deliver presents around the world (has that been done? That must have been done before). It doesn't have to be long, just something short and simple, but the more Christmas special-y the better. If you're a drawfag and want to draw it out instead, that's fine too.
Send your submissions to [email protected]. Or you can post them in the thread, but just make sure I see them. I'll give everyone a week to put something together, so don't feel rushed. At the end I'll share them with the thread and crown a winner. Make sure to include your wishlist with your submission.

Amazon is one of the few services that you can use one account for all countries. So in theory any international Anon can.
>>77828666
Yeah, should be fine. The only place I can't really buy for are places that don't have their own Amazon so shipping gets crazy expensive.
Hope everyone's having a good day! In attempting to figure out what to storytime tonight, I discovered a page of delightful mutant carols. If anyone has any requests for issues or stories for tonight, I'm all ears.

Hey, SDU, thanks again for Superman: Red Son last year. One of my favorite Supes stories.
>>77828732
holy shit this is amazing
>>77828751
Red Son I personally have an odd relationship with.
I find it enjoyable.
I find it interesting.
I waft back and forth on if I actually find it objectively good though.
At times element seem overly stilted and cliche for that type of story, but even when I solidly go "You know... I'm pretty sure this isn't GOOD" I still really enjoy it.
It's sort of how I feel about Morrison stuff at times.
Sometimes it feels like the deepest stuff ever, sometimes it feels like Morrison might just be batshit insane.
Realistically it's probably a combination of both.
Just found the first paragraph of a friggin' Patty Spivot Christmas story about getting a gift for Barry and foiling a D-Lister in the process (I was thinking Trickster or something. If Lois Lane can be badass, why not Patty?) I started writing last year on a whim whilst reading ManaBooch Flash, and now I'm unsure whether to continue it or not. My writing style has changed so much in the last year, I feel I should just bin it. Thoughts, /co/?
>>77828798
And I dug up the original, too.
>>77828821
I actually have a love-hate relationship with comics in general where most of them I'm not sure I can call "objectively good." I think the 22 pages a month can create some really frustrating pacing.
With Superman, I really love stories that emphasize his humanity/Clark Kent-ness, which is why Up, Up, and Away is my favorite. But something about Red Son is just so damn good.
>>77828853
Finish it and submit it to >>77828626
>>77828902
I bring up Up, Up, and Away a ton to people. It's an amazing little story that often seems to be forgotten.
I guess because post Infinite Crisis so many of DCs comics were trying new things, so the idea of Clark wandering around without powers for a bit, then being Superman again didn't seem interesting... but I just fucking loved it.
I love when they go with that CLARK is the 'real' person, and Superman is a suit he puts on.
It explains so simply why Superman always does the right thing without needing much in the way of explanation.
I love the book pointing out little things, like Clark knowing the name of the guy he buys his pretzels from, and how proud the guy is that when he gives pretzels to Superman himself, Superman knows his name.
I love when Superman calls out Lex on how he's been gone for a year and Lex hasn't done crap after years of claiming that Superman stymied him.
It is legitimately one of my favorite Superman stories, and I will never stop recommending it to the annoyance of people who know me.
>>77829002
You're good people, Hulk.
Just woke up from a great nap, which got even better when I noticed an email from a potential employer about a job interview. Here's hoping!
Thowing my list back into the thread20SQMNGX7PEYP .de
How's everyone holding up in their preparations of Christmas?
>>77829076
Not sure if you've read it, but if you enjoy Up, Up, and Away...
Superboy: Boy of Steel (originally published in Adventure Comics) is a fantastically done... it isn't a follow up... but it does touch on some of the same elements.
It's easy to find and cheap.
>>77829149
I'll look into it. So far I haven't really read anything by Geoff Johns that I didn't love.
Though I finished reading his Wally West Flash run literally at lunch today and thought it didn't work quite as well as Mark Waid's run.
>>77829191
A lot of people say that, but honestly...
What does work as well as a Waid run of a book when he's firing on all cylinders?
>>77828626
Oh good i had forgotten the email and im just about done with my submission
>>77829149
I'd read it for Manapul
>>77828751
Yeah no worries mate. I've always liked the ideas behind red son but I've never read it, time to put it in the backlog now.
>>77829191
I feel like Waid's run doesn't work as a whole, the stories are a bit more disjointed instead of a big long run and it has some very low points unlike the Johns run that is very consistent.
>>77828732
Since they're a little hard to read.

Mutant Hunts
(Sung to the tune of Jingle Bells)
Banshee's always loud.
Psylocke's race has changed.
Storm is one with clouds.
You could call it strange.
Beast has got blue fur.
Nightcrawler's got a tail.
Kylun's a barbarian.
But why throw them in jail?
(Refrain)
Mutant Hunts, Mutant Hunts
Have them in a rage.
Why are non-muts making laws
to put 'em in a cage.
Mutant Hunts, Mutant Hunts,
they are just the worst.
Everyone is racing
to see who kills one first.
Iceman seems to cold.
Polaris has green hair.
Logan's very old.
No wonder people stare.
Rogue looks like a skunk.
Phoenix is a mess.
Jubilee's a punk.
And we're just prejudice.
(Refrain)

Rogue
(Sung to the tune of Vogue)
Look around, everywhere you turn there're mutants
They're everywhere that you go, look around.
They will try everything that can to escape
the pain of life that they know as superheroes.
Christmas time they all long to be
hanging up mistletoe.
I know a mutant who must stay away.
A kiss would be kind, but she'll steal your mind.
They call her...
(Refrain)
Rogue, Rogue.
Get away from the mistletoe.
A no no! Come on Rogue
get your powers under control.
You know you can do it.
All you need is your own determination.
So use it. That's what it's for. That's what it's for.
Holidays, make you want to reach out to them.
You'll leave 'em feeling sore. Feeling very sore.
It makes no difference if they're bad or good.
If they're a boy or girl.
If contact's made then unfortunately,
you'll steal their powers and their memories.
Just stop it.
(Refrain)
Lorna Dane and Domino, Psylocke and Ororo
Professor X, Scott and Jean, no one comes in between.
You see Wolverine, on the cover of all magazines,
Alysande, Alistaire, Archangel's dance on air.
They have style, they have grace.
Watch Mystique change her face.
Phoenix, Meggan, Kitty, too. Alan Davis we love you.
Mutants with an attitude,
Christmas puts them in the mood.
Deck the halls. Let's go to it.
One X-Man can never do it.

We would put our shoes near the heater, leave a carrot and some hay hay or sugar cubes in them for Dutch Santa Claus's horse.
Come morning the shoe would have a little present and/or a Chocolate letter.
>>77832104
Not sure why it says hay twice, but yeah that was left for his horse "Amerigo" who can jump from rooftop to rooftop and that's how Dutch Santa "Sinterklaas" delivers the presents.
