What's your favourite Christmas special?
Oh, and favorite Christmas special is Year Without A Santa Claus because of this
Permission to storytime Alex Robinson's A Kidnapped Santa Claus?
Ok the lists have been updated to this point. We've at 19 gifts given in less then 4 days.
Damn Anons you Jolly.
But we've been keeping to one a day.
Ohhh I see what you got them and damn did I like it. I hope that group does more projects.
And what about his cameo in the Batman and Robin movie?
And the Christmas mediafire, just added the TMNT christmas issue and Lobster Johnson - A Chain Forged in Life
If we can beat our last year, 194 anons entered and only 15 didn't get gifts. (ignoring people posting double gifts, lists that were dead links, and people missing addresses.)
But 179 is an amazing number, and some of the people did get double gifts either from the same person or due to delays in filtering the ungifted list.
I would have to say Muppet Christmas Carol or the episode of Dr Who that I actually started liking Matt Smith, A Christmas Carol.
Ohey, I was actually going to storytime the LoJo later because I wasn't sure whether anyone knew it was Christmas-related
Does anyone have the Fraction Hawkeye Christmas issue? I only have a physical copy.
Gonna do the Fables Christmas special, if no one has any objections.
What? We're starting already?
It's been a hectic season for me, we got approved for an apartment ... on friday. it is now monday, and the move in date is tomorrow. So I'm grateful they gave us enough notice for that. Also my girlfriend decided to go and get everything we need by herself and is now in a permanent state of stress because she's doing it all even though there are other people who can be doing stuff too if she'd let them.
Ugh. But anyways, happy chrimbus wishes to you guys. here's my list!
So that's my holiday season so fqar, h
Wow, congrats on the apartment man. I actually signed a lease last Sunday, and I'm moving in this weekend!
Yeah it should be fun if I can afford it. It's me, my girlfriend, and 2 friends who are the funniest people I've ever met. But they're good guys and we all get along so it'll work pretty well. The place is nice, too. Aren't you a Minnesotanon? Because the place is in Eagan.
maybe you can help us move
Wow, that's coincidental. My current place is in Apple Valley, and the place I'm moving to is
Damn autopost. The place I'm moving to is in Northeast Minneapolis.
Aaaand I'm gonna pass on the helping you move thing. Mostly because I'm actually busy tomorrow.
Mazel tov. I could never move so quickly. I have too much shit to move. Last time I did it took me over a month to get must of my shit moved, and in the end I still needed a box truck for the rest.
Congrats on the apartment, but sorry for having to move during the winter, done that a few times now and I can say I hate moving but it's at least twice as annoying with snow and ice.
Let me offer one more piece of advice:
make sure you add an address to your wishlist so a certain someone can send you something.
And that'll do it for me!
I think we're only getting the essentials moved in. I still have to pack up all my comics. But since I work retail, I have absolutely no time to do anythign whatsoever, because 1-9 shifts are a surefire way to make sure as much of the prime daytime hours are wasted as possible.
If there's one thing I hate about winter its cycling to work when the weather is shit.
Should be able to bu someone something around the 14th which should give time for delivery.
Oh, son of a- I used this list last year, wonder why the address didn't save? Thanks for that! Hopefully I'm gift-able now.
Thank you. As long as we survive the experience, I'm okay with it.
ha, you're the 69th list added
Well be safe and keep warm. I'd recommend picking up a sack of rock salt to help clear/deice a walk way.
Would you guys be interested in me taking requests for photo shopping /co/ related things into a Christmas theme? Like this image I made for example? If so then I'm taking photoshop requests
>mfw my list has already been removed from the ungifted list
You guys are awesome, I can't believe how fast you did this already. I was worried it was gonna be a repeat of last year waiting until the last week. I'm also not peeking so I can have a good surprise when it comes.
I'm not buying anything until December, so you better hold onto your butts. I'm thinking 4 $50 purchases for people.
One of the shots from the Batman vs Superman trailers all Christmas like, I feel that Clark and Bruce could use some Christmas cheer between them.
It's an old saying that I haven't seen in a year or two but... /co/ is love
if no one objects ill storytime another transformers christmas special
I might try to do a couple too, but I only recently learned how to do edity-type stuff, just from hanging around in those cut-out caption threads.
i think ill do the op contest with transformers
Speaking of Muppets, I'm watching the Great Muppet Caper right now!
>What's your favourite Christmas special?
Justice League: Comfort & Joy comes to mind.
>>77822681 ah i love that christmas special every part of it is just the comfiest
oh wow i didnt even realize that was the last page of that story tim
well thats my contribution for this thread ill try and find more things to story time another thread for now imma work on that christmas fic for OP
and that is why I need to check more then twice, sorry I've got you adding in now.
the only thing I can think of would be this shot, maybe putting a tree over the fire and adding santa hats
Has anyone storytimed the Jonah Hex Christmas Special? I'd love to when I get home from work
Alright then, let's see how well the boys in gray handle a good Dickins during the holiday season.
It's a Toshiba Satellite my wife surprised me with on my birthday, since our daughter accidentally knocked our old (admittedly very old) one off the table and cracked the hinge.
>it's a great read
I've been in a real Ghostbusters binge lately and have been considering the IDW omnibus with the holiday one-shots and a couple of mini-series, but glancing at it, the art was pretty bad in some of them. Maybe rereading this will set my mind one way or the other.
My daughter's also taken a liking to Ghosbusters as well, running around the house with a vacuum hose attachment and shouting "Let's catch those ghostes, daddy!" for the past few days.
Damn jive turkeys, holding up my storytime.
I've had no complaints, other than the mistake of upgrading to Windows 10 on my part.
I've always been a GB fanatic, I need to catch up on the IDW comics but my LGC/LCS closed about two years ago I've only been able to buy the first of the total containment hardbacks.
But as for GB stuff I've got the legos, a hocky jersy from geeky jersy, all of the funko pop, the mass histogram version of the board game, posters, movies, video game, and a large box of the real ghostbusters toys from my childhood.
Oh it would be a little big but I'd recommend http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002JVW4ZC just for the backpack
it's all up to you, even putting in your wishlist doesn't guarantee getting a gift it's all random as we would run into issues trying to do specific pairings for this
Perfectly fine, anon.
I've got a reprint of one of the theatrical posters, the video game, and the Venkman POP! (I'm seriously considering tracking down the others). I think the missus may've taken my subtle hints about the Total Containment HC to heart for Christmas too, so we'll see.
I also picked up the 2015 Annual yesterday, but haven't read it yet.
Kinda crazy that the larger adult-size is cheaper than the child-size.
yea that's one of the issues with thirdparty sellers on Amazon, they get to set their prices and they're more then happy to price gouge. I would recommend the 1988 toy proton pack but to get once with the caster as well if almost 100 bucks you can almost get the parts to make a proper replica at that cost.
Ho Ho Ho, I be awake and ready to start the day!
How's everyone doing today?
Yeah... I used to have the trap when I was a kid and used it as a car for my Ray figure, since I didn't have the Ecto-1.
Not bad here, it's my weekend and I've got nachos in the making.
Oh and thanks to Prof Z reading one of the best character developments Dr. Venkman ever went through.
I still have the trap, most of my figures, the firehouse, and a busted to all hell ecto1. I've been meaning to pull them and all of my old tmnt out of storage get them cleaned up and put them up on ebay. I've started a few times then see how little some of the auctions go for and put them back in storage.
No problem at all, glad you're enjoying it!
I only ever had the trap, which is long gone, and a cartoony fright reaction Ray whose head raised up to make his eyes look huge when you pushed his arm down.
Alright done, ill take some requests later today, I might even make a contest of it, Happy Holidays /co/!
I've considered Slimer for my daughter since she loves him in the cartoon, but I've always loved the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. Back when I was a kid, I drew a really wonky one that my grandmother transferred onto cloth and sewed into a pillow/doll kind of thing. I've kept it all these years and passed it onto my daughter. I'll see if I can find it and post a pic later.
And that's all, folks. I hope you've all enjoyed!
Looks like I jumped in the thread at the right time, it's Zum!
Aaand I forgot my trip.
I just remembered that I still have the "I will find you and I will gift you." sketch I made last year.
Anybody with actual tablet drawing skills wants to touch up and color that is more than welcome. It'd be greatly appreciated.
This was done before I had a scanner, so it's just a blotchy photo I took and cropped.
a gift i bought was just shipped today.
if you're posting in here, enjoy your gift.
I still have it saved! I'm pretty sure I saved everything that people made, at least what I saw.
Good luck and burn the place down if they do fire you.
Oh... dear.... Batman Elf-armor. Thank you anon I'll treasure this gift.
We believe in you, you can burn down your place of work, or hit it with an emp blast... or just sever the phone/internet lines... it all works
All hail the jolly annihilator.
YOU DON'T HAVE A CHOICE.
Naaaah all hail you, you keep the threads organized.
But I forgot how slow the threads roll until winter break starts.
I just keep the pastebin organized, it's all of the fellow anons and tripfiends that keep the threads alive, without them there would be no Christmas.... well no /co/ Christmas.
I dunno the emp is pretty elaborate. I had a plan once for my old job in a call center to use this huge magnet I have and a car battery in a backpack and roll it around to wipe the hdd of every computer in range. Just add in some more stuff like trip wires or calls from inside the building and the emp would be pretty elaborate.
Looking for full time work, trying to relax, and trying to mentally and emotionally get through multiple family events.
I get to see if Walmart will allow me to have Christmas day off, since I work crazy early I can still work Christmas eve and make it to my mother's house for all of the events. Then once there trying to keel my cool and not kill my adopted brothers.
Otherwise just hanging out with friends locally and keeping up with the threads.
When you take calls and get death threats because they missed 4 minuets of a ppv or the lights in the stadium during the superbowl go out and postpone the game by half an hour you start thinking of ways to stop the calls.
Like the rest of us it seems I'll be trapped working.
Happy Hulk! Welcome back!
I'd tell you have to have fun but that's like telling you to go fuck yourself.
>.....if someone actually bought me panties I'd take a pic of me wearing them and post them
That could either be really bad or really good.... either way there would be too many creepers so I would recommend against it.
except you've got your full name on your address listing. even being a gift list it shows the name on the address as well as the city and state. I doubt there's many people with your full name in your town, I'd go edit your address to have a last name initial like your gift registry.
Well now I might just buy them for myself. I bought you something else instead, enjoy!
Ohh to see Santaseid in panties!
Were he Santagan that would be the greatest joke ever.
My address wasn't activated either, I've moved in the last year and it switched it over to null. I noticed right before I posted it and fixed it.
Everyone should really check their address on their wishlist.
Still showing a full name. Go into your wishlist. Do wish settings, view details, under shipping address do create new and fill it out how you want when done do the save changes at the bottom.
whew, okay i see what was going on, I left a detail blank, so it wasn't saving my changes.
NOW it's fixed I think
also thanks alot for the heads up Elusive
agreed; the process can be a tad confusing at times
I'm gonna be off and on because I got 2 papers, a project, and several other things to get done this week. When I get my next paycheck, some anon will get something good, too.
I think we need a drawfriend in here.
No problem just spread the love!
here you are professor i hope you like it
you may be the same anon from before but we've only had 15 ungifted last year and only 3~4of those were ungifted from the year before.
There could be several things causing an issue, like if once of your family members or local friends uses the list and buys you something during the event I would see that as a purchase and end up removing you from the ungifted list, or if your list has no address tied to it and no one can purchase anything for you. Then you wouldn't be in the 15 that missed out last year because I removed all of the ungiftable lists after sending messages to all of the owners asking them to update.
sadly we don't get every person popping in to share whats arrived for them, there's also always people that only show up once to put their list in and then never come back.
Its now December 1st. Time to start doing Christmas things as hard as possible. Take the red and green pill for a jolly trip HO HO HO.
I've got 3 more people who will be recieving gifts shortly, these can be removed from the list
Could have been 4 if 15HX9WHYFUAW9 had an address.
Sounds like the rest of the world needs to catch up.
note if anything is sent, it should be before December 19th, when I leave for a month (Unless said item is a preorder after January 19th.)
The real MVP is here fuck yeah.
I'm the photoshop guy ftom earlier and I whipped up this sketch, I don't have my tablet on me right now, also I forgot to put my wishlist code in this thread
HO HO HOME FROM WORK.
How are my comfy bros doing this evening? Gonna watch the Parks and Rec Christmas specials soon.
Other than it fuckin great, hope you like Sweet Tooth by the way.
Coming back to work after a holiday is the worst. Really, working is the worst. My dream to be a househusband.
For those of you who weren't here the last couple of years, I did various Christmas contests and would gift someone who I arbitrarily chose as the winner. I intend to keep that tradition alive this year.
I decided to get started with a (relatively) big challenge: Write a Christmas story featuring /co/ characters. Maybe Lex Luthor decides he hates Santa because he challenges human superiority. Maybe the Flash has to sub in for Santa one night and deliver presents around the world (has that been done? That must have been done before). It doesn't have to be long, just something short and simple, but the more Christmas special-y the better. If you're a drawfag and want to draw it out instead, that's fine too.
Send your submissions to [email protected] Or you can post them in the thread, but just make sure I see them. I'll give everyone a week to put something together, so don't feel rushed. At the end I'll share them with the thread and crown a winner. Make sure to include your wishlist with your submission.
Hope everyone's having a good day! In attempting to figure out what to storytime tonight, I discovered a page of delightful mutant carols. If anyone has any requests for issues or stories for tonight, I'm all ears.
Red Son I personally have an odd relationship with.
I find it enjoyable.
I find it interesting.
I waft back and forth on if I actually find it objectively good though.
At times element seem overly stilted and cliche for that type of story, but even when I solidly go "You know... I'm pretty sure this isn't GOOD" I still really enjoy it.
It's sort of how I feel about Morrison stuff at times.
Sometimes it feels like the deepest stuff ever, sometimes it feels like Morrison might just be batshit insane.
Realistically it's probably a combination of both.
Just found the first paragraph of a friggin' Patty Spivot Christmas story about getting a gift for Barry and foiling a D-Lister in the process (I was thinking Trickster or something. If Lois Lane can be badass, why not Patty?) I started writing last year on a whim whilst reading ManaBooch Flash, and now I'm unsure whether to continue it or not. My writing style has changed so much in the last year, I feel I should just bin it. Thoughts, /co/?
And I dug up the original, too.
I actually have a love-hate relationship with comics in general where most of them I'm not sure I can call "objectively good." I think the 22 pages a month can create some really frustrating pacing.
With Superman, I really love stories that emphasize his humanity/Clark Kent-ness, which is why Up, Up, and Away is my favorite. But something about Red Son is just so damn good.
Finish it and submit it to >>77828626
I bring up Up, Up, and Away a ton to people. It's an amazing little story that often seems to be forgotten.
I guess because post Infinite Crisis so many of DCs comics were trying new things, so the idea of Clark wandering around without powers for a bit, then being Superman again didn't seem interesting... but I just fucking loved it.
I love when they go with that CLARK is the 'real' person, and Superman is a suit he puts on.
It explains so simply why Superman always does the right thing without needing much in the way of explanation.
I love the book pointing out little things, like Clark knowing the name of the guy he buys his pretzels from, and how proud the guy is that when he gives pretzels to Superman himself, Superman knows his name.
I love when Superman calls out Lex on how he's been gone for a year and Lex hasn't done crap after years of claiming that Superman stymied him.
It is legitimately one of my favorite Superman stories, and I will never stop recommending it to the annoyance of people who know me.
You're good people, Hulk.
Just woke up from a great nap, which got even better when I noticed an email from a potential employer about a job interview. Here's hoping!
Thowing my list back into the thread
How's everyone holding up in their preparations of Christmas?
Not sure if you've read it, but if you enjoy Up, Up, and Away...
Superboy: Boy of Steel (originally published in Adventure Comics) is a fantastically done... it isn't a follow up... but it does touch on some of the same elements.
It's easy to find and cheap.
I'll look into it. So far I haven't really read anything by Geoff Johns that I didn't love.
Though I finished reading his Wally West Flash run literally at lunch today and thought it didn't work quite as well as Mark Waid's run.
I feel like Waid's run doesn't work as a whole, the stories are a bit more disjointed instead of a big long run and it has some very low points unlike the Johns run that is very consistent.
Since they're a little hard to read.

(Sung to the tune of Jingle Bells)
Banshee's always loud.
Psylocke's race has changed.
Storm is one with clouds.
You could call it strange.
Beast has got blue fur.
Nightcrawler's got a tail.
Kylun's a barbarian.
But why throw them in jail?
Mutant Hunts, Mutant Hunts
Have them in a rage.
Why are non-muts making laws
to put 'em in a cage.
Mutant Hunts, Mutant Hunts,
they are just the worst.
Everyone is racing
to see who kills one first.
Iceman seems to cold.
Polaris has green hair.
Logan's very old.
No wonder people stare.
Rogue looks like a skunk.
Phoenix is a mess.
Jubilee's a punk.
And we're just prejudice.
(Sung to the tune of Vogue)
Look around, everywhere you turn there're mutants
They're everywhere that you go, look around.
They will try everything that can to escape
the pain of life that they know as superheroes.
Christmas time they all long to be
hanging up mistletoe.
I know a mutant who must stay away.
A kiss would be kind, but she'll steal your mind.
They call her...
Get away from the mistletoe.
A no no! Come on Rogue
get your powers under control.
You know you can do it.
All you need is your own determination.
So use it. That's what it's for. That's what it's for.
Holidays, make you want to reach out to them.
You'll leave 'em feeling sore. Feeling very sore.
It makes no difference if they're bad or good.
If they're a boy or girl.
If contact's made then unfortunately,
you'll steal their powers and their memories.
Just stop it.
Lorna Dane and Domino, Psylocke and Ororo
Professor X, Scott and Jean, no one comes in between.
You see Wolverine, on the cover of all magazines,
Alysande, Alistaire, Archangel's dance on air.
They have style, they have grace.
Watch Mystique change her face.
Phoenix, Meggan, Kitty, too. Alan Davis we love you.
Mutants with an attitude,
Christmas puts them in the mood.
Deck the halls. Let's go to it.
One X-Man can never do it.
What do/did y'all put out for Santa Claus? My mom insisted Santa likes leftovers. Any kind of leftovers, haha.
everyone in the ungifted list hasn't gotten a gift. Also you've showing up in the beginning, it's only the 4th day, 4th thread and we'll be doing these all the way through to January.
Welcome to the group, I'll be adding your wishlist to the list.
Hope no one has a problem with some Christmas time Spidey
Jesus, I don't remember. It's one of those things where I don't remember what we did and what we just saw from TV. I think that we left carrots for the reindeer? A coke for Santa?
This is driving me crazy now.
And horrifying, but the best part of making snowmen.
SDU this is the second year in a row that I've bought you something the day before you've bought me something. We're obviously meant to touch butts.
It must be destiny. The inaugural touching of the butts must begin.
We would put our shoes near the heater, leave a carrot and some hay hay or sugar cubes in them for Dutch Santa Claus's horse.
Come morning the shoe would have a little present and/or a Chocolate letter.
Not sure why it says hay twice, but yeah that was left for his horse "Amerigo" who can jump from rooftop to rooftop and that's how Dutch Santa "Sinterklaas" delivers the presents.
OP pic is one of mine.
Also love "Mickey's Christmas Carol," "Will Vinton's Claymation Christmas," and "A Garfield Christmas." Prime childhood specials, all.
I'm throwing my lot in for another awesome year of this. I hope everyone who got my gifts in years past loved getting something from a /co/mrade as much as I did.
well something will arrive from them, and you can just look to see if your list is still in the ungifted pastebin.
harsh, hope it doesn't stay down too long over there.
Well dang, POFG. You made me look into that Stay Puft POP! and it looks like Barnes & Noble's doing 30% off one POP! as part of their Cyber Monday sales. Coupled with my membership giving me free shipping, I'm very tempted to pick it up for $10.
They also have 25% any one item with the code 25CMONDAY.
If Anon isn't going to storytime, I'll do a quickie. I love these Golden Age comics.
See you all tomorrow, gents. Hopefully Time Warner won't have anymore crippling outages.
I'm tempted to pick up the Batman Golden Age omnibus, but I'm not sure it's really worth it. Golden Age is fun in small doses, but can be difficult in larger amounts.
And that's it. Hope you enjoyed!
I don't think so. It's a bit long for a Secret Santa thread. I've been planning to storytime it separately sometime soon. It's my favorite Christmas comic.
I had this idea pop into my head and I couldn't help drawing it. Sadly the hand drawing wouldn't picture well so I ended up making it again digitally in layers over the original.
All hail Santasied, harbinger of joy.
I'll see about doing that tomorrow. And I dunno, maybe granny goodness as an elf? Or green arrow, he already has the right colors.
Sleep is for the weak! Well.... not really I just like to say that because I can never sleep properly, but I need to go to sleep soon.
Ditto, and I tried all of the various versions of the site.
You sir need to check your wishlist code, it is broken.
