Finn needs an adventure, an almost monastic warrior adventure. Something akin to journey to the west and the episode with Shelbys brother in the tree trunk.

I think finn just doing finn would be great, he adventures on - stepping outta the house for a bit (Ala Jake the brick). Trains with rattle balls a bit, sits on a hill top, spots a cave and goes spalunking, finds gaint pre mw museum buried. Investigates the subterranean museum mistaking it for a temple. Etc etc.

The thing I feel is that The Comet was a decent end game for Finn's character. His angst, fears, loves, and fight would continue with his silent, complicit wisdom that life is life. The writers are looking for that development with other characters and are stuck with Finn who has had tons of eps bout him finding himself. I would love a mostly dialogless ep about Finn adventuring and maybe making quips here and there. Stuff like that seems like good comic material if it hasn't been done already.

I disagree. The shit is still happening, but Finn is being sidelined or treated as a joke character (stakes anyone). I think alot of us noticed Finn's powerlevel is confusing, but we saw that he still has a code of ethics and could stop Marceline from killing The Vampire King. I can only say I'm confused as well what the fuck they're doing with him. Though I think the development is there it's just like a real person though, you can get into the same mistakes and patterns.

It's funny, because that was my mindset. An almost samurai jack like episode were the substance of the episode is showed, not told through dialogue.

Where we as the viewers are treated to a journey of adventure (and if well received - a saga) the episode or future episodes can show scene changes to Jake, pb, ck, marcilene and others going about thier day, making small talks or quips. Than the scene changes ack to finn trudging along on his journey.

Example: Finn adventuring due to wanderlust, cabin fever, solace, or w/e reason.

He is shown heading out towards the horizon. The screen panning up and away.

Scene changes to Jake with rainacorn - just being family man Jake.
Lady: some moon runes
Jake: haven't seen finn in awhile, he's probably sorting out his bizz.

Jake: I know

Scene pans to finn navigating a snow storm through Ice kingdom. Checking a map, stumbling through the snow, a mon sterling pops up and finn dispaches it. More likely than not making a joke about Simon.

Also the one part in the miniseries, when he puts his arms on the shoulders of both pb and marcilene and they deftly remove them had me cringe.

Absolutely no fucking body liked his characterization in Frost and Fire, Too Old, Red Throne and the lot. People were pissed about his arm returning and the Martin arc being dragged out the entire season before coming to a close with a shitty boss fight. Nobody gives a shit about "muh subtlety realization" when it's done so poorly and advances at a snail's pace you tard. This is completely different from The Mushroom War/Simon and Marcy arc if you're trying to make that connection too. It's as if they saw Finn, realized that he didn't have as much baggage as the rest of the cast and went "Yeah. This kid needs to get fucked up."

There was absolutely no reason to take his character down this route. The fact that he's even LESS popular than before and has gained virtually nothing from those episodes are part of the reason people were dropping left and right.

You can have relationships, long lasting and true even if you have different interests. So long as the core beliefs are the same. FP was spurned by everyone and locked in a cage. Finn was shutdown over and over again by PB. Finn is a good dude trying to be better, FP is (supposed to be) evil trying to be good. Both want to improve thier moral stations. Both were willing to self sacrifice for the other.

They were different no doubt, but you can't throw a blanket statement like " they are different it no workie" - I realize I'm paraphrasing your statement; but FP and finn had a lot in common and if the writers wanted it to work they could've. Sadly everything must be status quo.

I give it 3 episodes, tops - before PB disposes crunchy in a coup de ta, putting herself back on the thrown. With both the viewer and her having seen, learned or felt anything new.

It's not so great when you know it was just the writers covering their ass, tanking the relationship because they didn't want to write it. A happy relationship is something. Endless whinging and pining over a failed relationship is nothing. Sugar had a good idea -- Flame Princess was made to help Finn realize that Bubblegum is bad for him, and he needs to give her some serious space to heal himself. He'll never see that now.

I'm not impressed by Finn's development throughout this series at all, if there is any. I'd rather they'd make him darker and more realistic (though that almost always goes to shit with light-hearted media) than the way he is now. Jesus Christ. It's that Finn and Jake have lost a good deal of their charisma and the setting no longer facilitates good adventures at this point.

The drama and lore episodes are more interesting at this stage in the game because the 'adventures' we get nowadays consist of Finn and Jake calmly walking through a normal looking place with no jokes in the episode and fighting some dull baddie somewhere in there (when the show cares enough to actually make an antagonist for the guys).
