http://www.heartshapedskull.com/serenity-rose/

Serenity Rose is one of 50 known witches in existence. She is dreadfully shy and wants nothing but peace and privacy. This is hampered because as a witch she is always being watched, either by the military who fear she may go crazy or by the media.

Originally started in 2004, it went on hiatus for many years before returning. It is completed. It featured a MASSIVE art style change when it came back.

Created by one of the character designers for Invader Zim.

There's this webcomic called The Fox Sisters that I really like. It hasn't been updated in six months but it's still a pretty good read.

It takes place in 1968 Korea and is about a girl whose family was murdered after an evil spirit possessed her sister.

Derelict is my go to comic for under exposed webcomic. Good art and I like the protag being an awkward loner.

Helvetica's pretty nice, afterlife is people hanging around the desert as skeletons and they seem to be pretty chill about it.

Harpy Gee is also a nice slice of life comic about an elf and her friends

Star Punch girl is a good no dialog slice of life comic, though I would recommend reading it every now and then because of it's erratic update scheduled and the author preferring splash pages.

Same goes for videogames.

Books too.

Also? Boardgames.

And vegetables.

There is literally only one good version of all these things.

What's that? Did you disagree with me? What are you, the creator of said movies, videogames, books and vegetables? Well that's my cheap shutdown! You can't prove you're not. We're anonymous after all.

May 16, 2008 - In the span of a single day, Amal calls off his arranged marriage, comes out to his conservative parents, promptly gets disowned, goes on a bender... and wakes up the next morning to find TJ, a lanky, dreadlocked vagrant, frying eggs and singing Paul Simon in his kitchen.

TJ claims that the two have made a drunken pact to drive all the way from Berkeley to Providence. As it happens, Amal promised his sister he'd be there for her graduation from Brown University. And TJ, well... TJ has his own reasons.

The agreement is simple: Amal does the driving; TJ pays the way - but a 3500 mile journey leaves plenty of time for things to get complicated.

I've got one from the HYW general, but I've horrible self-esteem issues and can't pimp my own shit. So the only way it will ever be recommended in a good webcomics thread is if somebody else thinks it's good and posts it for me.
>>
>>77830344
Same here, really.

I'm no egomaniac, but I have confidence in my work. Especially the future arcs.

But pimping it myself feels all kinds of douchy.

Thought I was just listening to some old O&A shows with Patrice O'Neal. And he spends a long time eloquently describing how worthless integrity is in a business like this.

So maybe I might start shamelessly pimping it myself one day. The raspberries, slings and arrows will be just fall to pieces against the results of doing it. And that's kind of a shame, but people don't make it worth being humble and stoic.

This guy actually posted in a QC thread a few days ago. Talked about criticisms and what he wanted to improve (mostly focusing on the character designs not standing out in contrast to the background and set pieces). Really depends on your interests and your sense of humour.

One slightly NSFW comic I can recommend if you're also a fa/tg/uy, that I doubt anyone here (or there) will mention is yafgc.net's "Yet Another Fantasy Gamer Comic" which is half a parody of the way RPG worlds work, and half a series of stories being told with more or less the same characters. (It basically establishes a campaign setting and then sets up stories/conflicts in them)

It's not 100% gold, and will definitely be picked apart here for looking like shit (it's just outline, no real colouring or exquisite backgrounds) but since we're talking a regular webcomic, I'm not sure that would be that important.

Also, when I say slightly NSFW: I mean there are bewbs here and there.

The Adventures of Doctor McNinja is pretty good.
>>
>>77840812
True, that's why I added the "Not 100% Gold" bit, although I think it's less that it gets boring after the Arc, and more that it's trying to do that whole "mounting tensions" thing for every single arc.
So far, every arc got good in the second half, and since I personally like slow methodical shit, I stick around for the "boring" parts too.
It just really loses its momentum between major story arcs.
>>
>>77840859
Ah damn. After I posted I decided the comic was getting way too little exposure, so I deleted the criticism.

True enough. Though I get a kick out of them, since they generally do the generic kind of stuff that most Table Top games avoid, and every now and again, they give me some good ideas for stuff I can incorporate into an ongoing campaign.

So yeah, I agree, it has it's fair share of flaws, but it worked for me, so might aswell mention.

Actually just remembered another one that is really not something to get invested in, but got me a fair number of laughs: Table Titans.

While it's not really good, I laughed for about 5 minutes, when it slowly set in the Wizard of the Coast actually wanted this comic to exist and supported it, while it has such wonderful depictions of their fans as pic related.

Seconding this one.
I've got a few recs.
Gunnerkrigg Court (already been said but it's just that good)
Bird Boy (very good art, interesting worldbuilding)
Stick In The Mud (pretty funny SoL comic)
Minus (weird and surrealist with great art)
RASL and TUKI (both webcomics by Jeff Smith, who did Bone. Both have great art as usual and really unique premises.)

Also, Digger. I'm really surprised nobody's mentioned it yet. Is it that old?

Then again, I'm of the opinion that Digger is one of those webcomics that everyone should read. So much is done right, I must have reread it like five times. Someday I'm going to get the omnibus...

I think mine's pretty good, but feel free to disagree for the fact that I'm shilling it.

The Sisters is street level urban fantasy in Quincy, MA; currently focusing on a the aftermath of a murder and a Satanist causing trouble. I sort of compare it to Fright Night with wizards. We're trying to keep it away from being generic Dresden Files with the serials filed off; so there's no big wizard organization---there's a couple fucks meeting like it's AA. No elves, no trolls, no werewolves or vamps.

People seem to like it, or at least like the characters so far. First chapter is okay looking, second has gotten rusty with time; but we're six in now and over a hundred and fifty pages. We update on Thursday/Fridays with 3-4 pages usually.

Speaking of which, does he actually do pic related? From what I read in a submission of his in 2013 is that it's a spin-off available to patreons, who get a page every time he updates GwtB. Does he actually stick to it or was that dropped?

If you haven't read through Bomango, now is the time. Author is about to restart the story in a more traditional webcomic format.

Skin Horse (pic related)
Fantastic comic that I feel like no one know about.
It's a 4-5 panel daily comic that follows the exploits of the underfunded government agency tasked with the welfare of Non-human sapients in the US. Hyper intelligent animal, disenfranchised killer robots, Mutant swamps, Helicopters with Human brains, if it can form a sentence and isn't a person, these are the black ops social workers who will make sure it gets treated fairly and justly. It manages to strike a really good balance between plot and comedy every strip which I find i rare.

What's /co/'s opinion on Grim Tales?
I never see it mentioned here ever, probably because of hellish release schedule of one page every 2-4 weeks, but between the occasional out-of-place references and loli pandering, it's one of the better drawn and conceptually interesting webcomics of the lot.
>>
>>77858628
Well you brought up Bleedman so now people are gonna say "He's a real life pedophile" despite the evidence which doesn't exist, will get asked to be presented, but just get danced around.

Nothing makes him different from several, several artists across the world. But he gets all the heat for some reason.

Shit's annoyin'
>>
>>77858693
Well, I could see why people might think that, given the recurring theme in all of his comics is young girl main characters, but I don't see why anyone, outside of tumblr, would care.
He's just a Western Lolicon, as far as I can tell.
I personally enjoy watching innocence get corrupted, which is what I suspect it's really about for him.

My problem with this is that the author is frequenting the HYW thread, and he/she seems to think they deserve much more attention and feedback than they deserve. The comic barely exists with such few pages, and I think the author will break because they are already desperate for feedback and recognition already now so early into the game.

So to the author since this was an obvious self post: It's gotta take a bit more time and effort, dude.

I understand what gigi is trying to do with the comic, my problem is that there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of focus early on in the story. She's been doing better about that as the series progresses, but she tends to break off into tangents that have absolutely nothing to do with the main quest at all. Otherwise, she's just telling the story in a disorganized fashion (Splash Master doing the limbo contest right before their battle because Nautilus noticed his limbo crown, Nightmare Knight's intermission in the middle of the Fashion Contest/Battle, the play in general (Though, eating up their time was an intended thing, so that's fine), etc). Most of that stuff works in the comic, but if gigi would just reorganize those events in such a way that she's sticking to one tangent for a healthier amount of time, it would work out a lot better.

So to reiterate, my problem isn't that "nothing happens" as in "there's no action in the series," but rather "progress is incredibly slow because the creator has a high tendency to lose focus."

I'm sorry to hear that. When I was right at the beginning I requested feedback a few times too many but it was mostly on the direction of the art style and the format of the comic, and I got feedback that helped me a lot from it (more backgrounds, etc.) I surely don't feel entitled 'cause I'm actually pretty insecure about my output.

I'm not even that comfortable plugging my comic when I do and maybe I come across as insincere. Right now I post the pages I have finished and maybe a WIP of the finished inks, and then link the comic in the same post.

That said I'll pay attention to this stuff in the future.

Kinda surprised Guilded Age hasn't been mentioned. Consistent update schedule, though around this time of year they break from the action and do a pseudo Christmas special.
Gunnerkrigg has been mentioned.
Grrl Power was mentioned, like once.
I read Leftover Soup, due to having its moments, but most of the time I don't care too much for the subject matter.
Paranatural is cool, but I wish the update schedule was more consistent. "Gee I'm sorry something else happened." Plus, comments were disabled.
Kiwi Blitz was kinda cool, but I stopped following for a while.
Lighter than Heir is neat, too, and the artist is apparently "remastering" the art (at least, last I knew)
Girly is a fun one if you like nonsense and lesbians.
I'm sure there are many others I haven't mentioned here that are at least worth checking out, but I don't remember all of them.

What is it about SSSS that makes some people on /co so incredibly offended by people liking it? Is it just because it's a campy comic that's somehow gotten really popular? But then again Ava's Demon is incredibly popular too but you never see anon's getting this angry about someone saying they enjoy it.
>>
>>77912279
I hate Ava's demon, it's some deviantart bullshit and people only read it for the art, which isn't even good looking. Artist can only draw faces from like, 3 angles and even when their bodies are in a different angle the faces are still flat in the 3 angles she knows how to draw.
>>
>>77912279
Because it's the prime example of what's wrong with webcomics today. The easily digested safe webcomics like it become popular and take the readers while more challenging and deeper comics only get niche followings if they're lucky. It's the fast food of comics versus healthy fine dining.
I have a lot of people in my social circles that read webcomic, and there's so many of them who will gladly read the easy garbage like QC, SSSS and Paranatural but when I show them gems like Unsounded or K6BD they just shrug and go back to their mental junk food after a readthrough. It's really frustrating to constantly be reminded of how simple most people are, even here on /co.

Homestuck, if you have time to read around 7,400 pages. The fanbase is cancer though.

Read Problem Sleuth.
If you like that, read Homestuck through Act 5.

Pretty sure MoJ is intended as a scared straight for lesbians and tries it's hardest to make lesbians as unappealing as possible.
>>
>>77922719
Well, ok. I don't even know when there will be another update since the author doesn't seem to have a schedule yet anyway.
I'm still a little hesitant since this is 4Chan after all.
The last thing I would want is for some of you to scare the author off.

That's pretty nice. I love the colors.

Tell the author to tell about his comic in the MSPA forums
>>
Something simple that's just getting started:

>>

You, or someone you know personally is the author, right?

If it's you then ignore the harshest criticism while considering the thoughtful constructive criticism and don't take shit personally.

The sort of pussy that can't handle any sort of bad things being said about them or their work shouldn't make art and then make it available for the public to view.

Also, it needs a redheaded tranny to draw in the tumblr crowd.

>If it's you then ignore the harshest criticism while considering the thoughtful constructive criticism and don't take shit personally.
This is important. There'll be lots of "this is shit" thrown around for the sake of smack talk
>>
>>77925380
I don't know, I prefer to just lurk and leave suggested actions from time to time and not get involved in how the author runs her comic. Just posting about it is much more than I normally do for anything I follow.
>>77925456
No, I don't really know her personally, but I have been following her work for a while and was a fan of the comic before the reboot.
I honestly don't know how the author would react to harsh criticism; that's why I was unsure about posting the link.
>>
Does anyone know how good tapastic is? I've been considering putting my comic on there, but I have no idea if it's even worth the time or not.
>>
>>77925558
I can say that every author willing to post art consistently to the public is very likely to have dealt with shit talk, bad communities and lack of confidence already.

People mentioning your webcomic is a big confidence boost, and in this specific case having more input for the next scenes prevents things from going stale and keeps the comic healthy.

As a fan it's the best thing you can do for a creator's work.
>>
>>77925806
Well, that's good to know.
>>
>>77925806
I can confirm this.

I used to be a writer, and had a great deal of self-confidence, bordering on vanity and egotism. I had thousands of readers and fans, millions of view counts, things were good.

As soon as I started drawing and posting pictures it became a soul-crushing, heart breaking experience, and all the abuse really got to me. I don't want to do the "I was born with glass bones and paper skin, and every night my heart attacks put me to sleep" routine, but yeah, it's been a nightmare.

What was it that the PA guys said?

Nowadays our creators are forged in the fires of social media?

Not exactly sure whether it counts as a webcomic, but I've been fond of the stuff over at GronkComics ever since I stumbled upon this little gem at a con.

Most of his stuff should be posted online, and is well worth the read...

>how good tapastic is?

I'm pretty impatient and highly critical of such web platforms, but I only just looked at it this hour when linked earlier, and at least it's navigable enough (and not too fustrating) for me to browse a couple of comics that showed promise. People are leaving comments which shows there are viewers at least. But, why ask? Does uploading there prevent you uploading elsewhere? Is there some exclusivity agreement involved? As a long time comic reader and part-time patron I really only consider self hosted works where the creator has full control of the reader experience. Stuff like tumblr and deviantart is fine for art work and blogging but sequential art just does not fit - it's too clunky and user-frustrating.

>Does uploading there prevent you uploading elsewhere? Is there some exclusivity agreement involved?
No, but I doubt anyone would ever want to go post on 2 or 3 different places every time they want to do an update.

Kill Six Billion Demons
Unsounded
Paranatural
Stand Still Stay Silent
Alfie
lackadaisy
Power Nap
Gunnerkrig Court
Oglaf

The problem is most webcomics get abandoned before they really start and the ones that last are usually boring shit.
>>
>>77935798
Bait is the only thing that keeps the SSSS threads alive, which seems like the only way for /co/ to talk about the comic. might as well take advantage of this knowledge and sprinkle some bait from time to time; like an improved bump

I mean, until the novelty of the bait wears off and threads start fading away anyway
