You know who created Blue Marvel?
>>
I can understand why Marvel keeps creating Superman analogs. Everyone does that. Mark Waid, Alan Moore, whatever.

What I don't get is why they keep retroactively inserting them into the past of the universe. Why not do a transparent "What if Superman arrived at Earth in modern times?" character instead?
>>
Yes

He was crated on the 2000's and his origin was that he's really been around since the Silver Age of comics, but when his mask was damaged and people found out he was black they didn't want him saving people's lives anymore so JFK asked him to stop being a superhero

If it sounds stupid, it is
>>
>>77814377
Kinda sorta. He was a black Superman expie in the 60s. The government made him wear a mask so people wouldn't know he was black, fearing that there would be riots and mass panic knowing that there's a black man with god-like powers. After his mask is torn off in a fight, the president tells him he needs to fake his death and retire because the world wasn't ready for a black superman yet.

After his wife dies decades later, he comes out of retirement. He was pretty good in Ewing's Mighty Avengers/Captain America and the Mighty Avengers and is starring in Ewing's Ultimates which just started.
>>
>>77814623
Which is the stupid part, the fact that they didn't want his help, the fact that JFK asked him to stop, or the fact that he did stop?

Because there are racists who have ended up dying because they've refused care from brown people
>>
>>77814608
I like Moore's Supreme where every retcon, alternate universe, what if, etc. version of Supreme all exist together. When their time comes and they get wiped away fro a new version they all go to live together with Silver Age Supreme reigning as king

Grim 80's Supreme is best

>or the fact that he did stop?
Least he got called out on it.

Posting an excerpt from Mighty Avengers #6.

I'm surprised they didn't call him Black Marvel.

that's another character that works better at DC that in marvel
>>

>>
>>77814377
I want Marvel to use one of their Superman clones in a movie already. I don't care who, just give it to me already.
>>
>>77814919
Honestly, he wouldn't for the same reasons Apollo and Captain Marvel don't really work in DC.

They always gotta play second fiddle to big blue boy Superman.
>>
>>77815066
I meant to reply to this.>>77815012
>>
>>77815037
I feel like they could do Dark Reign and The Sentry well in the movies.
>>
>>77815037
They said Captain Marvel was going to be the Superman of the MCU, in the sense that she'll be the most powerful.
>>
>>77814632
>The government made him wear a mask so people wouldn't know he was black
Nah, the gov didn't know he was black
>>
>>77815066

Apollo's too busy playing second fiddle to himself to play second fiddle to Superman
>>
>>77815203
Lame. She's not even the most powerful in the comics (no we are not counting Binary).

>>77815157

That would be fucking neat.
>>
>>77814377
He's kind of another Superman analogue
But it's been hinted he may have some reality bending powers too
Right now, i'd say he's the most powerful hero from Marvel
>>
>>77815036
Luke Cage talking about how tough he is is one of my favorite parts of his character, and Jessica bringing him down is just so excellent.
>>
>>77815304
>he's the most powerful hero from Marvel
>Thor
>monica
>doctor strange
>black bolt
>star brand
>binary carol
>>
>>77814377
A poor replacement for balloons.
>>
>>77815379
Yeah but he's about as Strong as those guys on average plus he's a bullshit science guy who can cook up some stupid scheme to beat his enemies if his physical abilities don't work
>>
>>77815304
So who's stronger Hyperion, Gladiator, Blue Marvel, Sentry, or any of the other Marvel Superman analogues I missed?
>>
>>77816112
Sentry>Hyperion>Blue Marvel>>Gladiator
>>
>>77816112
Peak power Sentry is my bet. He is just so over the top its not funny. But his power level is all over the place.
>>
>>77814377
A shitty character. I wish they used another character in Ultimates instead of this Gary stu
>>
>>77816112
Sentry > gladiator when they go full crazy = hyperion > blue marvel > gladiator
>>
>>77815379
>>77816112
>>77816179
>>77816155
>>77816253
Blue Marvel knocked Sentry out with a punch
>>
>>77816418
As previously mentioned, Sentry's power level is all over the place, some of which are actual in-universe reasons.
>>
>>77816428
Yeah, there's that
But we never saw much of Adam's power, even he doesn't know what he can do, there was a thing where he was afraid that his wife was aging slower simply because he subconciously wanted that
I don't know, i'd rank them both pretty much as equal levels of bullshit power
>>
>>77815036
Loved this series
And I'm glad it turned out he'd been secretly doing superhero/action scientist stuff anyway, just deliberately staying out of the spotlight.
>>
>>77816644
Well, specifically, he was helping in countries outside the US. Lotta problems in the world but the comics only really focus on the American ones most of the time.
>>
>>77816669
The Original Sin tie-in was all about the team him and Blade and Luke's dad were part of in New York in the 70's
