I spent five years learning how to become a teacher so I could get a job and live up to the very high standards of education we have here. I spend up to ten hours every day preparing so that I can give my pupils the best possible learning experience, and my native language is not English.

This weeaboo goes to Japan and can't even manage to teach middle schoolers the difference between morning, midday and night, nor does it seem likely that she has any peers reviewing her work and teaching methods or holding her to any standards whatsoever. Despite this she probably still gets paid better than I do.

At one school:

I have fairly free reign in my first year classes, and significant input on my second year. Third year classes use me as a thesaurus and grammar dictionary.

That said, there's still pressure to make your classes grammar oriented as to prepare the students for the center tests in their third year. I have largely worked to side-step this measure as teaching grammar academically in a students L2 is stupid. So most of my activities are conversation oriented, usually based around a specific expression (taken from their grammar book and supplemented with sanity) and coupled with a usage example in context.

I'm JHS and seems a bit different. My school the JTs decide on everything and make most the desicions on what I and the students do in class. This usually is repeat after me exercises, walking around as they work on stuff helping them with mistakes as I see them, and doing demonstrations for activities they are to do that class with the JT. Only time I'm straight teaching/lecturing and not assisting the english teacher is culture stuff like what thanksgiving is with a presentation where they get excited about sweat potatoes with marshmellows.

Nova. But not the main one, a franchise owner using the name. Base pay of 280k, rent around 40k, with overtime usually get between 290-300k each month.

I'm intensely studying German and plan to move there next, perhaps to teach English, or perhaps to get a real job if I can get my language ability high enough.

Plus I quite like the Japanese staff in my branch and wouldnt want to fuck her over by leaving earlier, that said she leaves in 2 weeks so depending on how the new staff is like will affect if I can stick it out to the 6 month mark.

I have four classes I teach most days, four different subjects. That's a little over 2 hours preparation for each. Finding relevant material at the archives, making it myself where I can't find any. She's doing a job that Japanese language education has space for, drawing in a native speaker to do some basic lessons with the students so they hear the language in its native means of speaking and get some practice within that context. Which I wish I'd had in high school, my college language courses had some native speakers as the instructors and it made the verbal portions of exams much simpler for me.
