I'm rereading Homestuck and i missed how Rose was the best girl. Homestuck thread, i guess.
We are so dead the general archived in one week under diaper porn and mlp. Bravo.
Let this go, OP. Only start a thread if something actually happens
How the fuck do you retread Homestuck? How the fuck do you READ Homestuck? I've been on this site for like two hours and all that's happened is some kid got a present for his birthday and checked some emails on his computer.
sbahj had a huge reach though, I swear 'it keeps happening' was one of the largest memes I've ever seen. I've met a good number of people who have no idea that it's affiliated with homestuck. They don't really do much gaming though so I'm not sure that it's much of an issue.
Way better then homosuck
you enjoy it as you go. I'm not going to promise you anything about the future of the comic because it isn't for you if you're not enjoying it as it goes along. It's too long to just whack out for the sake of it.
It isn't for everyone.
Reminder that Hussie will never produce something as great as AIDS ever again.
I don't like this feel.
It's read as if it were a point-and-click adventure game, like Myst. Act 1 had a reader suggestion box, so most of what John does is the result of zany forum shenanigans and in-jokes from 6 years ago. After Act 1 the suggestion box was literally nuked and the story started picking up.
Read the adventures in order. Jailbreak and Bard Quest are super short and can be powered through in nothing flat, and the later adventures reference them a lot. Problem Sleuth comes after that and is significantly shorter than Homestuck, and gives you a good grasp of Hussie's style of humour. It's also before Tumblr blew up so it's completely untainted and utterly pure. After that you should be good to read Homestuck, understanding most of the references and in-jokes that are shown.
If you do get into it, you will regret not being around earlier and then you'll come to realize the comic went to complete shit.
There was always such a simple, if crude charm about early Homestuck. Like, look at the lighting on Rose. It just looked appealing, if only slightly.
When there started to be an art team for flashes that didn't even fucking ATTEMPT to stick to Hussie's style, it went to shit.
I really disliked how ugly Game Over looked with every artist using their own different styles, it was an eyesore seeing them all clash.
They couldn't even use the same designs, Karkat kept flipping from t-shirt to sweater.
Looking at the Tyler flash you can see the pannels gradually losing macro potential to becoming generic lineless pannels. I tought style would regress when we got the caliborn pages then "fast and loose" happened
Those were fucking abysmal.
You can tell Hussie really didn't feel up to quality control with all the shit he dealt with involving the game. Just took whatever he could get from guest artists and uploaded.
I found it a bit mediocre but I still liked it
I got into it fairly late, like just before the Vriskagram flash, after I found a album of some of Hussie's other works and decided to look up what else he did, I do regret not getting into it earlier if only cause it's annoying as fuck that a lot of fanartist have deleted there shit
I still think the comic is good, though some of the jokes are obviously outdated and it was a bit jarring when it abruptly changes the focus in theme like how it went from Sburb adventures to teen drama, probably could have had a better transition but it's all pretty good
Though something did occur to me
>Homestuck is filled with references to Problem Sleuth and other earlier works of Hussie's
>So does that mean his next comic will be filled with references to Homestuck?
The suggestion box was destroyed by the EoA1 meteor. After that, the forums were used as a suggestion box substitute, but you had to sign up to the forums etc. Those proxy suggestion box threads were closed sometime in Act 4 (I seem to remember it happening when Rose was doing some deploying on Dave's building) and stayed closed for everything other than names after character introductions.
I just hope Hussie can finish it soon, maybe at 4/13 th?, that could be a great date, it started there, and ends there too, cycle closed.
And sure, from the women Rose was the best, Roxy took the throne...
Roxy is generic girl though.
which is why she's paired with generic boy
She's present Rose dialed back in terribleness, but still doesn't reach the peak that was pre-act 5 rose.
everyone dies. it was all for naught, except to ensure casualty.
Life continues as it always had, which is to say LE kills already dead universes and subtly influences active ones.
same as Problem Sleuth. except instead of fucking around with a fan, it's John jumping around LE's timeline to pivotal moments and glitching the fuck out of them. giving him 'bugs' that can be exploited by those fighting him in the 'present'.
Karkat learns to do the bloody thing and does sort of sideways ancestral awakening where he borrows the powers and skills from increasingly bizarre but OP iterations of himself
everyone else spams fraymotifs and random inconsequential objects and abilities
then Alt!Calliope deals the finishing blow, removing LE and herself from existence in a double-suicide attack that wipes out all of existence, leaving only an Sburb 'victory' platform in front of a twenty-square sburb house. They pass through the door to the new omniverse, queue 'where are they now' epilogue about everyone living it up as gods in a system where New Earth and new Troll Planet orbit the same star
>the exact same face, lipstick included
>twenty-square sburb house
The trolls are considered stowaways rather than players in the humans' session, indicated by the number of lines in the "next" arrows ====>. Half of the trolls aren't considered alive/active players anyways.
Unless something about winning the game makes everyone god tiers only Vriska and Aradia would be gods from the troll session
I do hope it grants godhood, I'd hate for it to end with the kids having to watch as all the trolls but those two die of old age
That's all assuming they're all going to survive and they're going to stay with the humans. It would be the happiest outcome, for the fandom at least, but it'd also be the most straightforward and predicable one, so I have doubts that that'll be the ending we get.
Slow pan out to Hussie's desk with Hussie hunched over it trying to figure out how to tie up all the loose ends
After a few panels he looks up and says, "Alright, I have no idea what I'm doing at this point, mind if I take a do over?"
Next page is Act 1: Enter Name panel from the very start of Homestuck
And the suggestion box is reopened
After a few hundred panels of this bullshit one of the kids/trolls in a god tier outfit bursts into the scene and asks John what the fuck he's doing before dragging him off to something completely unrelated to Act 1 or the final battle against Lord English
And the suggestion box stays open
All the while Hussie has "7 more years of Homestuck" plastered across the site's banner in flashing letters
Dad gonna die, Condy's been keeping him alive just to mindfuck John when she kills him in front of him
>Dad gonna die, Condy's been keeping him alive just to mindfuck John when she kills him in front of him
That won't work; John isn't Jake or Jane, he doesn't fold under pressure. If anything it'll just tip John over the edge and drive him homicidal.
>That weird moment when you find Whistles at your local comic shop in buttfucknowhere
I'm thinking about rereading it soon. Looking back I wish English didn't become a thing and Bec Noir was the endgame, and it still revolved around Sburb. Getting out of their session was the beginning of the end.
We'll probably get Jade doing some offhanded mention of them or something
speaking of rereading...
what the fuck is even going on now? These pauses of various scale have seriously thrown off my plot awareness. the kids are getting ready to take down lord english who is also this shitty brat who's monstrously strong for...some reason?
His aspect gives him absolute omnipresence across space and time, making him immune to any and all harm barring what could be considered gltches or exploits (like John's new power.) And he's obliterating paradox space utilizing an unconfirmed power source for his godzilla death rays. One working theory is that his power comes from the squared sprites somehow.
Am I the only fucker around that is actually glad that hussie has took so long and most of the fanbase withered away to other fandoms? I have been around and following his work since the last quarter of Problem Sleuth and I sincerely hope he can go back to just doing whatever he wants with a small fanbase of chill dudes rather than keep trying to pander to a pletora of anxious sjw teenagers. I mean, I'm glad the dude got so much atention and succes, but hussie post popularity looks more like a bussinesman than an artist.
>Vriska's overall bullshit and Karkat's romance crap will never be removed from the comic
>the trolls will never be removed from the comic
>these two mentioned trolls will never get a special place in hell for eternal torture
music team spoiled a huge song from the ending file(delete parenthesis)dropper.(com)/0f3-9983
Daily reminder that Toby Fox will be the next big thing and we sooner will forget about the existence of that hack know as Andrew Hussie.
>Roxy is a bland overrated slut.
i'll eviscerate you i sware on me mum
>still taking Hussie's tweets seriously
Roxy and Rose are at their best when they're together.
it's really fucked up that john acknowledges jane's dad as a separate entity, but the fact that he killed and replaced alpha-john with his retcon powers is something everyone is fine with
same thing with roxy
can you just explain where this is from instead of posting a random soundcloud
>it's really fucked up that john acknowledges jane's dad as a separate entity
because they are.
> but the fact that he killed and replaced alpha-john with his retcon powers is something everyone is fine with
same thing with roxy
that john has been dead for years and nobody had contact with him for even longer. other roxy just died, so it's as if she never left.
hussie is a lazy writer and doesn't want to touch upon the implications of replacing someone with an identical copy.
it's kind of in the air how god tiers work, that remem8er flash shows those who got revived actually waking up as ghosts, but then you have things like jadesprite who are actually revived again
>it's really fucked up that john acknowledges jane's dad as a separate entity, but the fact that he killed and replaced alpha-john with his retcon powers is something everyone is fine with
>same thing with roxy
I really hope someone calls them out on this
What I don't understand is, if John's retcon powers weren't accounted by paradox space, the "alpha timeline" was just supposed to happen that way, with everybody dying? How is that consistent with how alpha timelines work?
But the characters mention that it was doomed indeed, then what doomed it? Was it Aranea's intrusion?
Then, wouldn't just keeping the ring safe from her save the timeline? Why was it necessary going all back to resurrect Vriska?
It's not even a complaint. The situation is so difficult to justify that it confuses me, I don't understand why things happened how they happened.
You honestly expected Hussie to deliver meaningful endings to anyone? The most we got is Dirk/Dave finally reconciling, and that still ended on a very very low note.
One day I was talking to somebody who I believe is relatively close to Hussie, or at least to Rachel, and he told me one thing.
We're supposed to see the different characters from different timelines as the same character, just like all the Marios in different runs of the same game are essentially the same Mario.
I guess this is what Hussie was trying to say during this last act, when all the characters parroted non-stop that all the alt selves were equally relevant.
I understand what he's trying to do and it's actually a good idea, but I don't think he's managing to pull it off because he has developed the characters so much as a consequence of their experiences that they may as well just be different characters. It would work for simpler or shorter stories, but Homestuck is so long that it just doesn't. I can't help but see the retcon kids as new characters, and it's all so clumsily executed that I feel completely detached from them.
It's still fluffy cream for me.
Dad Crocker is a slightly different person from Dad Egbert, they both just fill in for the same pseudo-NPC archetype of being a dadly dad.
>hussie is a lazy writer and doesn't want to touch upon the implications of replacing someone with an identical copy
We have seen that with Dave and later Rosesprite, everyone's already used to seeing alternate selves running around. Pre-retcon John and Roxy has probably the smallest net difference between them and their post-retcon, doomed selves, so any implication would turn out to be negligible.
Alive Jade was the one who got killed by the Barbasol bomb, and dream Jade, in Jadesprite, ascended.
There's still a possibility that John and Jade's ghosts on their quest beds were temporary ones that later fused with the god-tier selves.
The timeline was doomed because no one really had any motivation or sense in direction on what to do. Also because Aranea fucked it up. And it's not as if Vriska became irrelevant after she died either.
And I still don't see how everyone keeps saying that those three years of character development were totally erased when really the character arcs are pretty much in the same position as they were then.
>if John's retcon powers weren't accounted by paradox space
They are, just by the account of it and the juju existing in it.
this just makes the dissonance with jane's dad even more obvious
also, how the fuck is that idea supposed to work with the jacks? are we supposed to see both calliopes as the same? is caliborn meant to be literally lord english even though LE has like four souls or something?
>are we supposed to see both calliopes as the same
That's pretty much what I told him. Even if Hussie's trying to do that, it's not consistent with what we've seen so far.
As for LE, he's not an alternate timeline Caliborn. He's Caliborn and friends, in the future.
yeah, it was really blatant
people always say davekat is forced because of how it suddenly changed dave, but how it changed karkat is a bigger reason
>there are people who think dave's rant on social norms is the high point of the comic
Class and Aspect, or heroic title for short
Every player gets given an aspect, which symbolises some facet of existence. All of them have an obvious meaning on top of a bunch of more obtuse and metaphorical ones. Caliborn is Time, which covers inevitability and consequence and stuff as well as the meta of the story. He is also a Lord, which basically means Time always works out to facillitate his goals or some such - he can basically demand Time to work for him.
Paradox Space is everything in the comic. Universes, Sessions, the Void, all of it is governed by Paradox Space's rules in addition to their own.
Squares Sprites comprise a sort-of soul fusion or multi-prescence of every dead instance of a character across Paradox Space. We currently have two known Square Sprites, one of which contains the conscious of every dead Rose and the other every dead Dave and Nepeta. They have flashing effects and crazy warping-teleporting powers and such. Not much is known about them. They're an excuse for Andrew to remove trailing characters without calling it death or to pull new ones out of no-where to fulfil the plot's demands.
("The plot's demands", if read literally, could be seen as Caliborn's power incidentally)
I think most people say it's forced because you have side characters constantly talking about how nice the relationship is, Dave going on tirades about social norms, and then the comic ignoring past relationships they had.
Remember that Game Over Terezi told her past self by proxy that she doesn't need Karkat. We don't know how that turned out.
Also, Karkat's obsession with Terezi was magnified extremely the three years on the meteor by her sneaking off with Dave and later Gamzee. That was probably a LOT different (though penis ouija still happened, thank god)
The comic actually turned gay, what is there to not take seriously?
If the gay turns out to be Caliborn's doing and is rightly considered as awful and enforced by a Reality-like figure then maybe those tweets will become funny in hindsight.
if you expect me to believe that karkat's huge obsessive crush on terezi was stopped by vriska being alive and john writing a note on a wall to terezi, you should probably stop expecting that.
shit, even terezi suddenly changing how she treats karkat because of a note that says 'you dont need him' which she doesn't know the origin of is fucking stupid.
Yeah, but that was when "Make her pay" happened.
After the retcon, they are best buds again.
You know what would be mindblowing and give Karkat some nice closure? He is still obsessed over Terezi and only hung out with Dave to get him out as a competitor for her. That's why he is angry as fuck at Vriska for hanging out with her.
It will show Karkat not being a fucking good guy who does nothing wrong.
>He is still obsessed over Terezi and only hung out with Dave to get him out as a competitor for her. That's why he is angry as fuck at Vriska for hanging out with her.
It will show Karkat not being a fucking good guy who does nothing wrong.
that would actually be pretty interesting
so i doubt itll happen
okay...so...how did caliborn get all that jazz? he just luck out? because the only thing I remember about him is that he killed(?) his sister-personality thing and broke out of that weird void prison. has he just been chillin there the whole time locked away until he finally sacked up and cut off the leg? and are the squared sprites the ones that have the schizophrenia shit where they experience all their past lives at the same time?
and what has the group been doing since the first gigapause? iirc john unlocked his crazy wind powers, went through the story to retcon/explain a bunch of shit according to terezis note, and vriska has most of the others and is preparing them for some kind of assault?
Increasing insularity leading to a divide between Hussie and all but the most noisiest, simplistic and clique-friendly of his fans. Hussie's major contact comes through other webcomic people, who as a rule are smug and love to signal their virtue by supporting (usuall idiotic) social fads without actually doing anything - basically a prime influential group for SJWism to infect. Andy isn't one but he is heavily influenced by that mindset.
Also, he naively tried to make a video game without experience and got scammed extremely easily, and his dad died right in the middle of it all.
I kind of forgot, but didn't retcon terezi kind of go on how she doesn't need Vriska right before the hiatus? Or is at least aware of how she latches on to her?
Isn't that ironic considering the "original" GO is now in the red half with her GO Vriska?
They got pulled into a doomed timeline when Aranea injected herself into the session. Look at what happened: The Battlefield and most of the planets were destroyed. Most everybody was killed. It was doomed.
Hell, the timeline might have been doomed from the moment they entered, since if Gamzee gets off the meteor and joyrides around the session, he wouldn't have made it to Earth to raise Caliborn/Calliope and later give Caliborn the crowbar. He gave it to Jack pre-retcon, who had it with him when he was possessed and warped to the edge of the Incipisphere. How that Jack went about the same actions post-retcon is being handwaved because it's a plot hole Hussie wants to gloss over.
They call each other both by their name and their last name after they become moirails. In fact, the last spoken word in the comic is S3RK3T. But that's kind of their thing, it sounds "badass". Karkat never called Terezi "Pyrope" until the retcon happened, though.
The game assigns everyone a Class and Aspect. How and why is a total mystery. It may be Caliborn's innate qualities, it may be intended to challenge Caliborn somehow. It may simply be a reflection of something which Caliborn will inevitably perform in some manner given the nature of Sburb/whatever. It's said that the Lord Class is more powerful than other classes, but in what way or sense and whether in totality or just on average isn't known.
> has he just been chillin there the whole time locked away until he finally sacked up and cut off the leg?
He grew up there since he was a baby. You ought to read the comic if you want to get up to date on this or blow the wiki's dick or something.
>are the squared sprites the ones that have the schizophrenia shit
Not certain as to what you're referring here. Nothing's been like that in the comic.
>and what has the group been doing since the first gigapause?
You summarised it pretty neatly. Read the comic for more deets.
Caliborn has to also exist post-retcon. If he had been retconned out of existence then nothing going on would matter. Either Gamzee is going to go on to raise him still, or the post-retcon Caliborn wasn't raised by Gamzee.
The Jacks are NPCs, not players.
Alt Calliope is Calliope if that aspect of her personality that we saw with her chess game with Caliborn fully took over.
If the art looks like a poorly-drawn anime sequence, it probably was supposed to look like a poorly-drawn anime sequence.
The comic was always gay, the only thing different is the dumb beating-around-the-bushes with Dave and Karkat.
Vriska said she's going to dump Gamzee in B2 Earth after it was sent to Universe C.
I thought Terezi said she had a feeling the notes were from her when she met John, but hell if I remember what transpired in Talkstuck.
Yeah, true. I got my mad at retconned character development out of my system long ago. If only Hussie wasn't a hack.
Gamzee possessed the crystal-Timetable things pre-Retcon, and as such could zip about to any point in both Caliborn's session and B2 without hassle, even going back and forth between them. The Gamzee you see in each specific point in PR B2 (making Tavrisprite, making Equisprite, giving the Crowbar to Jack) could occur in any order from his perspective and in respect to Caliborn's session. Gamzee could've stayed on the meteor, warped to Caliborn's session and played through it completely, then warped back and done everything in B2.
Post-Retcon, Gamzee could still have a time machine and during/after Caliborn's session could warp back to B2 to give Jack the Crowbar after Caliborn was done with it. The only certainty about any of the events is that Gamzee needs to be in B2 to get sawed in half by Kanaya pre-Retcon and in Caliborn's session to get Dirk'd post-Retcon.
Well if Terezi can do it then hopefully so can everyone else. Maybe the dreambubbles splintered everyone and them all dying in the most recent flash will affect the people still living.
>The Jacks are NPCs, not players.
>If the art looks like a poorly-drawn anime sequence, it probably was supposed to look like a poorly-drawn anime sequence.
>it's shit on purpose guys!
Is there any character that didn't get shafted by this latest act
Do you even read the comic? That sort of "shittily done on purpose" stuff is there all the time. That particular case would also tie in withe mangaka shit from earlier.
1) We play as several Jacks several times over the course of the comic. Not really relevant to that conversation but jus' sayin'.
2) You'll have to prove that intent first.
3) No. The comic was open-minded and had tongue-in-cheek bisexual stupid aliens. Most of their relationships were straight anyway. Big diff.
>Did Terezi do it?
It's uncertain. As I understood it, she got to see all the different timelines and regained her alt selves' memories.
>Are GO Terezi and Vriska double dead for certain?
Definitely not. Watch the flash, Hussie uses the "fade to white" effect to change the scene like 5 times before the final flash. If that flash is supposed to symbolize a Lord English laser out of nowhere (?????) using the same effect so many times before it makes no sense.
Is this bait or you're just this stupid?
If you can't tell what distinguishes panels like this from those animations, we can't help you.
That's not how time travel works in Homestuck. Like at all. Each plane of existence has its own history, and time machines let the user travel between points in this history. So if you were on Earth and jumped to the future, you'd end up in a desertworld / waterworld, not the future of the comic. If you stuck around and entered the Medium, then traveling back in time would just take you to a point in the Medium before you entered. It wouldn't lead back to Earth. The only traveler with the power to time travel between points in a personal timeline instead is John, whose time and space powers exceed both Dave and Jade's.
So once Gamzee leaves the Medium and enters the B2 universe, no amount of time travel will let him rewind this. He'll be stuck on Earth until he finds another way to re-enter manually.
>1) We play as several Jacks several times over the course of the comic. Not really relevant to that conversation but jus' sayin'.
Yes, but they're still considered game constructs.
>3) No. The comic was open-minded and had tongue-in-cheek bisexual stupid aliens. Most of their relationships were straight anyway. Big diff.
Again, the only real thing going on in the "singularity" is the Dave/Karkat stuff, that's hardly a tipping point, especially since it's more than likely going to end up as a punchline anyways.
I'm not saying you can't think of the art as shitty, I was just postulating that it may be intentional, what the hell is there to be this mad about?
I like the Jade on the right. Just wish she didn't wear the shitty outfit constantly, her old look was rad.
as was everyone's
John - hurt
Rose - slightly redeemed then hurt by Jasprose
Dave - wrecked
Jade - sidelined, slightly hurt
Jane - sidelined, slightly hurt
Roxy - no change
Dirk - slightly hurt by treating bro's training as actual abuse but not mom's alcoholism or dad's restraining order and pie attacks and grandpa's record-breaking neglect
Jake - shat on
Karkat - wrecked
Nepeta - arguably hurt
Kanaya - unchanged
Terezi - hurt
Vriska - hurt
Equius - possibly strengthened?
Gamzee - unchanged
Calliope - alt is a diffferent character, norm is unchanged
Meenah - unchanged
Tavros - strengthened
Caliborn - hard to say
Who have I missed?
Old outfit, keep the dog ears.
the artists for game over didn't have direct contact with hussie, they spoke to rachel
also, hussie rushed that shit out because he was supposed to be making a video game and had nothing to show for it
> okay...so...how did caliborn get all that jazz? he just luck out?
it was one or more of these:
> cherubs are already a powerful race and weren't meant to play the game
> they played a 2-player session and those seem to give master classes to players as a balance feature
> then he made it into a 1-player session altering the missions of the session
> caliborn's personality predestined him to be a lord and calliope to be a muse in the first place
I'm one of the anon who says the art isn't bad on purpose, but what you're saying here is wrong.
The artist who didn't have contact with Hussie were the ones for Vriskagram, the rest of the artists did have contact with him. For example, Ikimaru said that Hussie didn't personally contact to her for Vriskagram, but he did for Remem8er. In Vriskagram's case, the art was
shitcartoony on purpose.
Also, as said by Zack Morrison, the assets for Game Over were drawn a year in advance.
Hussie just doesn't have artistic standards anymore. If something is done, that's good for him. The fast and loose art of this last arc is the proof of that.
Paperseverywhere, who is most likely drawing things for the final flash, mentioned that suddenly Jade is her favorite character.
I'm sure Jade will do something cool.
I'm afraid Jade will die. Right now, she's the most likely candidate to kick the bucket.
Jade deserves a lot of happiness after how bad she got shafted.
Forgotten what about the meteor? Let's track its progress, shall we?
>Sollux moves it at near the speed of light to reach the Green Sun, burns out
>It leaves the temporal envelope of the A2 session and enters the Furthest Ring, which has no traceable history and is explicitly said to have a warped space-time continuum. The more you time travel here, the further away you'll go instead, and vice versa.
>Sollux and Aradia send it on a long, winding, knotted path through the Furthest Ring to reach the B2 session
>It enters B2's Incipisphere, inserting itself as an event in the Incipisphere's history and space-time returns to relative normalcy
>Jade kicks all occupants off/they fly off to land on another planet
>The meteor continues its uninterrupted descent towards Skaia
>Skaia interprets the incoming high-velocity object approaching as a threat, intercepts its path with a defense portal that leads to its host planet, Earth
>The meteor arrives in Earth's outer atmosphere, inserting itself as an event in the B2 Universe's history
>Jade/Vriska jump off the meteor and captchalogue Earth, along with the meteor
>They fast travel back through the portal before it closes to return to the Medium
>Unknown events transpire beyond this point
>In the future, after the game is won by the kids/the Condesce, Universe C is created
>Earth is deployed in a solar system somewhere in one of C's galaxies, becoming a part of C's history within its temporal envelope
>Kids found the new world/Condesce starts building her empire again
>Far in the future, Caliborn and Calliope grow up on the meteor, which is still on Earth
>Caliborn enters the Medium, bringing Earth with him
>The meteor is now within Session C's temporal envelope and is a part of that Medium's history
So what exactly did I miss? Time travel isn't teleportation, it leads you to a different point in time at the same spot in space. How can Gamzee use time travel alone to return to B2's Medium from C's Medium?
Eh, I'm ambivalent. Some artists can do animal people, Hussie's middling.
Several people have already outlined that argument, without your level of "m'mad!" tier posting.
Way to list a fucking ton of unnecessary shit, including events long before the B2 or Caliborn's session and plenty pointless details along the way. Here's the skinny:
- Meteor travels through B2 to Earth
- Gamzee has access to the Meteor and can time travel
- Ergo Gamzee can timetravel through all of the Meteor's journey post-Voyage
I'm afraid that Alt Calliope's word mean that Jade will "become the universe" or some esoteric thing like that, in which she doesn't die "die" but gets removed from existence a la Madoka.
It's not that "she deserves happiness", it's that Hussie cut all her ties so that he could properly remove her. In my worst fears, I mean. Not necessarily in reality.
>The fast and loose art of this last arc is the proof of that.
Or it's because he had to draw 400 or pages in a month.
And hell, I thought Remem8er looked fine throughout, even if some of the art's wonky in the Flashes I just don't really find it anything to rage about.
No, Jade's not going to permadie, she still has some plot armor along with the rest of the humans.
Also she still has to fulfill Rose's statement of ending the notion of endgame ships.
What arguments? And you're all implying that I care a lot more about this than you do, apparently.
But that's wrong. If Gamzee got on board the meteor once it set down on B2 Earth and time traveled backward, he wouldn't rewind to arrive back in the session. He would arrive at an earlier point in Earth's history, because he's time traveling back through the B2 universe's history on Earth.
Even when one of the doomed Aradias came back to Alternia to make sure Karkat's computer exploded, she still had to hide and hitch a ride back into the session before she could time travel around it again.
The thing is that he shows that he doesn't mind putting bad art in the comic if it means making the process more agile. He probably didn't want to waste more time requesting Karkat and Kanaya to be made better, because they were already done and to him how they looked wasn't that important.
I said nothing negative about Remem8er, the art was good. I like Paperseverywhere.
The plot armor wears off at the end of the story. If anything, once the plot armor wears off the chances of somebody dying are usually pretty high because of DRAMA.
If some kid has to die, I'm betting on Jade.
It's kind of funny how it's just accepted that Jane is toxic to babies.
And that Jade will also have twins but given Grandpa that seems to run in the family more than it being a dog thing.
is there any other medium where the treatment of Jade's character would be tolerated by fans and critics?
Game of Thrones people seem to be okay with that sort of thing.
Somebody's gotta be around to pork Roxy though.
>Even when one of the doomed Aradias came back to Alternia to make sure Karkat's computer exploded, she still had to hide and hitch a ride back into the session before she could time travel around it again.
When did this happen?
And the gigapause lasted that long because he had to go across the country to attempt to settle shit with TOG, along with having to set up a wholly new game studio after that, along with mourning over his dad's death.
That was at the "no standards" comment - and along with that, people bitched about the art in Cascade as well, so what are the "standards" really?
As for who dies, for the humans I just see it as an all-or-nothing case - either they all die, or become abstract apotheoses, or they all live.
Link me the posts then, 'cause what I mostly saw were variations of the "hack" statement, >>77825637 >>77825792 being the more substantial answers.
>Any of the Alpha kids who are not Roxy doing something.
They saw their ecto-children get sucked into the house juju and had a part in sending Caliborn et al. into Lil Cal and sending them to the void, that's enough to show they're going to be active in the final battles.
Or just provides her with friendship and hooks her up with some consorts, since he'll be the troll king and that shit. Rosemary would have only ended in heartache anyway. Kanaya deserves better
>That was at the "no standards" comment
Yes, because he will accept anything.
That doesn't mean that all the art submitted will be bad. The artist who were employed to do it took it seriously, unlike the unskilled garbage person who drew Karkat and Kanaya in GO.

JASPROSESPRITE^2: Squaring these sprites, it's a marvelous thing. It opens you up! The selves become curiously multidimensional; concentrated!!
JASPROSESPRITE^2: I recall the lives of many Roses lost. And many Jaspers! Maybe even more than nine. ;3
JASPROSESPRITE^2: Not that any of them matter now they each chased their own laser pointers to their respective futilities and now I am all that's left of them, mrrrr.
>posting comics relevant to what you're saying is spamming
The fuck are you on about?
So... literally just "STOP POSTING WHAT I DON'T LIKE"
You sound like a fucking aspie.
Jane has about the same amount of characterization as John.
>Hussie just ignored her
Or he's putting some build-up so she can get some defining character moments later on.
Vriska ain't gonna accomplish shit.
>Or he's putting some build-up so she can get some defining character moments later on.
>this close to the end of the story
>everything from here on out will be plot only mode
>expecting good character writing from hussie
>"if I write like shit, fans will forgive me if I throw them a bone in the very final pages of the comic!"
>Karkat isn't grumpy and rude anymore if he took swimming as his hobby
>Vriska isn't a bitch and vengeful anymore if she took swimming as her hobby
We still have few hundred or so pages to go before the next act, we're not plunging to plot-only mode just yet. It's enough to squeeze in more character with with Jade, along with wrapping up the others' arcs.
Roxy and John are a couple which looks great, specially because both of them fixed their problems instead lay there sobbing about them.
That's the reason why Roxy is the best chick, at least from the humans, troll girls are a case apart...
bullshit, nobody rereads that shit. you either trick yourself into liking it so you dont feel like shit for investing so much time into reading that stupid fucking shit, or you just drop it like a normal person and move on to something worth your time. you dont reread something that you forced yourself to like.
and if you unironically, sincerely enjoy the fucking comic i would truly think you have not read much else before it.
I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as Homestuck, is in fact, MSPaintAdventures/Homestuck, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, MSPA plus Homestuck. Homestuck is not an operating webcomic unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning webcomic system made useful by the MSPA website, forums and wikia pages comprising a full webcomic experience as defined by Hussie. Many webcomic authors run a modified version of the MSPA system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of MSPA which is widely used today is often called “Homestuck”, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the MSPA system, developed by Andrew Hussie. There really is a Homestuck, and these people are reading it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Homestuck is the magnum opus: the comic in the system that allocates the machine’s fans to the other comics that they can read. Homestuck is an essential part of an functioning website, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete webcomic experience. Linux is normally used in combination with the Problem Sleuth comic: the whole system is basically MSPA with Homestuck added, or MSPA/Homestuck. All the so-called "Homestuck” fans are really readers of MSPA/Homestuck.
All fandoms have to have a dumb name. Like bronies for MLP, browncoats for Firefly, or lovelies/cumfaggots for Game Grumps. Although I guess Homestuck fans could have been a little more creative. I would have gone with Sburbanites or something like that.
>Our boy... he grew up...
you fucking wish, m8.
all my followers come from re-posting the steven universe zine a year ago. I lose followers almost every time I post, regardless of content because nobody followed me for my art and tumblrites are too fucking dumb to look at someone's profile before following them.
Fair enough. Too bad dA decayed for internal incompetence and that retarded logo, now were stuck to draw politically correct fanart for some years to get some feedback.
Someone still gotta fix this one
>ripoff of loss
that's not giving loss enough credit, man.
Loss was a stroke or retarded brilliance. It was a whole cavalcade of things that made it what it is.
It's more than just a shitty four panel drawing. It was the hubris and shitty writing of Bum Tickley used to create such a god awful non-ironic comic
And one last one for luck. You're going to need it, 4chan.
This thread's turning to a dud soon enough, but sup Phantos, how's life treating you?
Oh you know, fine, fine. Just wondering when this kaleidoscope of shit ends and people go back to wondering when HS will end, or be cool, or maybe we'll get to see a neat thing.
I don't even know.
>freedomposting getting deleted
Good job mods.
Yeah, you won't really get much substance from the current gathering of chucklefucks in these threads. There's one thing to actually raise an eyebrow over at >>77818518, but not much other than that.
I'm not here for leaks or codes, I just wanted to see if people were staying chipper about HS.
Y'ALL BEST BE CHIPPER NOW.
... But thanks, that actually looks rad as fuck.
I'm always stunned that 4chan has no dedicated thread for this comic, even in the longest of the hiatus periods. It's so important to me but honestly doesn't warrant the bandwidth.
And fuck if that doesn't boil my blood.
Warms the fuck right out of my heart.
Rogue of Pizza.
Words to live by, homie.
Yeah, there's a lot of pessimism abound here and in other factions of the fandom, but I'm still pretty hype for the end, at least.
BINGO! Hidden hype is what I am all about these days. You have to have faith, I do.
Thanks guys, I'm glad I could chat before this place went down. I guess I'll check for the next one in a few days. Stay warm.
More than just earlier works of Hussie, it's full of references to stuff in his life. The whole wizard thing with the Lalonde's is based on the wizard book he drew all over and gave to his friend and shared pictures of on the Penny Arcade forums, Bro and Caliborn's obsession with puppets and puzzle snuff came from a guy RPing as Jigsaw on the MSPA forums who 'kidnapped' Hussie and forced him to drew the Muppet Babies picture in Bro's room or else he'd 'kill' him. Vriska's line about too many Nepetas while in the dream bubbles is referencing a thing he said on his formspring years earlier about his experiences seeing Homestucks at cons.
The dude's work is entirely derivative of his own life, but that also seems redundant to say.
I think childpile, karkat/nepeta and meenah/vriska/karkat anons should all get married and fuck off
Same as it ever was. I first got into Homestuck in 2010 and asked HSG if I should read Homestuck. About half the replies I got told me it was too late and it was already going downhill.
I'm already taken by someone who ships Karkat/Kanaya, but thanks.
Had a dream last week.
The current group of living people are going to try to enact their plans. They will not succeed. John is the only survivor because his powers let him just run the fuck away.
A majority of what's left of Act 6/the rest of the story is progressively smaller glimpses into new scenarios that John sets up, trying to cover the mistakes the last group made. Entirely different selections of characters are made to live and die and try different strategies.
Nothing works. Lord English and his machinations come out on top with every go. As the glimpses into each attempt speed up, the imagery and art style become more disjointed and psychotic. At some point, a spiral form showing an unfathomable number of different scenarios is shown, all draining into Lord English's gaping asshole skull mouth in the center.
I don't remember if I saw anything else.
Oh, I just remembered. There were a few pages that were just weird, incoherent rants that Hussie had typed up and stitched into the middle of the story seemingly at random.
Cherubs aren't meant to play. They're a species who are generally galactic conquerors and can only mate by morphing into giant galaxy spanning serpents and fighting in a black hole.
Caliborn even moreso because of being a legit domineering badass.
Shipping was always treated as a joke in the comic, I wouldn't be surprised if it's all just more fucking around the fandom from Huss.
It's a WIP for one, and I'm guessing that's just going to be the first part of the flashes for build-up.
John doesn't have any problems to fix
Nobody acknowledges them, the comic doesn't treat is a negative, John doesn't even think it's a problem, the comic doesn't acknowledge it be any sort of problem, john's only benefited every time he's gotten mad.
I've read it it's just been such a long time and desu I don't want to read it again just to have it make sense. I for one blame Hussie, as I do in all things.
The sprites I was talking about were, IIRC, formed when they made a sprite from a dead body(?). That sounds familiar enough. I forget if it was Nepeta or Jade that happened to, though.
Well I hope it's very much still a work in progress, because what I'm hearing would pass mostly as filler music in an action movie, except that stuff is supposed to be placed behind sound effects and dialog. That music right there can't carry a 10 minute flash with it solely in the forefront.
The end portions are such repetitions of the same chord progressions re-used in Cascade, Flare, Infinity Mechanism and several other earlier tracks. I'm expecting massive callbacks during those parts.
It's still incredibly lazy of them to just edit and remix all their old compositions.
Spaghetti Squad sounds like exactly the kind of thing 4chan would create, absolutely yes.
Also LOL at getting warned for asking about coffee. Fine.
So why did he decide to make Dave gay again and what the hell does it have to do with the plot?
Like give me one sensible, logical reason that makes any sense at all or is indicative of good storytelling.
>It's still incredibly lazy of them to just edit and remix all their old compositions.
What is thematic consistency? You're talking about a comic that literally reuses everything from it's copy pasted sprites, google stock images, to it's own groups of characters.
No see, that's the stuff I like. One of the things I loved about Homestuck and its music was how it had such strong themes and use of motifs. It helped create a musical narrative for the story.
What bugs me is a lot of the later albums and tracks kind of lost that, but any sort of attempt that developing themes, I'm all for. The thing is, that's just a lukewarm arrangement overall.
>LMFAO you see being lazy and recycling old material Its like a THEME or something XD
Screentime, character development, any real story progression?
Dave being gay didn't take away from him, Dave COMING OUT as gay was the annoying part. Dirk was gay. But it was a very minor part of his character and he never spent a whole scene monologuing about his gayness, but never hid it either. Dirk was gay done right.
Dave an Rose on the other hand..
The illusion that Hussie still wanted to tell a good story and that wit and charm are the main reasons why this story was good.
But no. The illusion was already broken before. Now we just know with total certainty that it's all about who's gay and ranting about their issues in the spotlight, and how completely justified they are for feeling the way they do.
people keep talking about how homestuck "Went down in quality" and I mean lke, sure there were huge parts where it changed in tone and a few unnecessary seeming things but does anyone else still fucking love the entirety of the thing? its just so great to me in and of itself
