It's that time again, come get in the thread for some Christmas cheer!
Deck the halls.

Enjoy the best time of the year.
List of ungifted wishlists and instructions: http://pastebin.com/2R25RyGY
So share your list, join in some holiday story times and above all else be Merry.
Please only post your list once per thread, no begging, and keep it friendly.
Previous thread >>77771445
Feel free to share any great deals that would make for great stocking stuffers on your fellow /co/mrade's Amazon wishlist!
Reposting the first Christmas contest:
For those of you who weren't here the last couple of years, I did various Christmas contests and would gift someone who I arbitrarily chose as the winner. I intend to keep that tradition alive this year.
I decided to get started with a (relatively) big challenge: Write a Christmas story featuring /co/ characters. Maybe Lex Luthor decides he hates Santa because he challenges human superiority. Maybe the Flash has to sub in for Santa one night and deliver presents around the world (has that been done? That must have been done before). It doesn't have to be long, just something short and simple, but the more Christmas special-y the better. If you're a drawfag and want to draw it out instead, that's fine too.
Send your submissions to [email protected] Or you can post them in the thread, but just make sure I see them. I'll give everyone a week to put something together, so don't feel rushed. At the end I'll share them with the thread and crown a winner. Make sure to include your wishlist with your submission.
Also maybe we should try to better pace the storytimes this thread. I don't know if there's a good way to do that.
I'm going to write one as soon as I finish on all my procrastinated homework!
It should be safe, I mean Amazon is probably pretty secure. Anons will probably only be able to see your wishlist.
My list, Happy Holidays /co/!
Merry fucking christmas all.
I'm sitting in the dark, wrapped in a blanket, eating honey roasted nuts while there's a storm going on outside.
Pretty damn comfy, I think I have the christmas spirit already.
It's not safe. We're all going to send you child porns
>check friends tab on Amazon
>seeing the people who you bought for the last two years
It's a comfy feeling
Elusive's in charge of the list checking,
he's checking them twice too. They're removed from the ungifted list and moved to the pastebin list that contains all of the codes posted this year.
If you go to the list, there will be a filter option on the top right and that will show you when the last time someone had something purchased off the list was. Assumedly, if people keep their lists separate, it will be obvious by that point
A lot of people, myself included, use their wishlists for their own sake and don't just make a new one for the thread.
I bought Splatoon off my own a day ago, black friday discount and all that.
So since we were talking about various comics and digital comics people were buying in the last thread...
Does it seem odd Amazon doesn't have Comixology gift cards/codes to sell?
I mean, Comixology has gift cards, they are owned by Amazon... but you can't buy gift cards from Amazon.
Seems a bit weird.
I find I read far more comics when I do it digitally.
Accidentally posted the prior before adding that to the end.
I actually rather like the guided view also.
When I buy physical now it's basically "I want this to shit on my shelf."
I don't disagree.
But when I'm talking to a friend online, them being able to track down a copy quickly, be it legal or bootleg, can be key into getting them interested.
If I tell them about something amazing and they have to track it down, they maybe never will.
I'm mostly the same. I tend to read digital and then buy the trades of what I like for shelf porn, but there are a few I take a chance on with buying straight off.
>tfw bought JSA omni 1 on a complete, impulsive, probably dumb whim
>tfw it's a delight
I know it's become a bit in vogue to claim Johns stuff is a bit of a throwback and a bit stilted, but most of his stuff (especially pre new52) I just enjoy reading it so much. It makes me feel like a kid again.
I'm hoping to get the second and third ones sometime. I'm holding off on reading digitally until then.
Honestly, omnis are kind of crappy because they're unwieldy and I'm always worried about their spines, but damn the oversized pages are great and they look awesome on a shelf.
>pic related, Swamp Thing saved our tree this year.
My wishlist this year, find it cool that /co/ introduced me to some many of these this year.
Happy Holidays guys
UK Anon here, I posted in the last thread but fucked up by not including my address in my wishlist. Will be buying stuffs for anons when I get paid next week, Merry Christmas /co/
Even better, can you imagine how cute Swamp Thing makes Christmases for Abby? Like does he grow the worlds biggest pines and decorate them with luminescent organic bulbs?
Posted before I meant to.
UK anon here. Most of it's vidya merch. If you're gonna get something off here though, make sure it's not the Monkey, Sheffield Wednesday, Steven Universe or Animal Crossing stuff, they're on my Wishlist to keep them stored there as they're presents I'm going to buy family when I get paid! Paid next week so I'll check in and get an anon a gift then.
Let the first purging begin... takes a while opening each and every wishlist but I'm here and grabbing the new lists to add in.
Damn I check it more then twice, I'm not Saint Nick, I mess up too often for that.
That actually happened year before last, then this picture was drawn becaus they got some spock sent to them too.
I think that's the case for a lot of people. My shelves are usually for "unread but dirt cheap", "enjoyed it enough to read it again in the future", or "dick measuring about how amazing my taste is".
Finally get to post what I was slowly working on all night. It should not have taken me nearly as long as it did, but it did. Like revisiting these older drawings. Been wanting to color this for 2 years.
Added to the list.
I can't write for shit.
I want those omnis but I don't. I really enjoyed the series when I read it a few years back but those are just fuck ton huge books. As much as I hate the Hawkpeople, I do want to read Johns' Hawkman because of his work on Green Lantern and JSA.
Oh, I remember that.
Shelf threads to a t. Why I love 'em.
Or actually, you might want to just make separate lists just to be on the extra safe side.
I love that picture. Glad to see it colored! You always do great stuff.
You mean this?
I saved this after I gifted the guy a thing way back, that was like at least two years ago, it's still confusing to me.
The comments are there, I have faith the anons in this thread will read 'em.
Oh god, I found my old screencap of it. Still funny that I didn't even see the bowel probe.
>Tfw got JSA omni vol 1 for Christmas last year
>Tfw it's fucking huge and I'm too intimidated to sit down and read it
What's wrong with me?
That reminds me my Pass is set to expire. Did they not do a sale this year?
Read it, anon. Books are meant to be enjoyed. The shelf porn is secondary.
Purge #1 done, I got to cut 8 lists out of the ungifted pastebin.
Gaah, I'm sick of both, and when you post enough you have to start getting multiple correct entries.
I tried to go back to the V.01 with the text but it was messed up and said I mistyped every entry.
Treated myself to some Christmas cheer for being the best me I can be, so I figure I'll also pay it forward to an anon.
2FADPV5Y1R327's list doesn't seem to have the address sharing enabled. So P1468SBM9B3V is going to receive a gift instead! It should arrive on December 1.
As many times as you want, anon.
I don't really know much about Luke Cage.
I have a set of Prismacolor pencils and I never use them because I just suck with them. Got them because a friend had them. I prefer cheap watercolor paints. As for unread omnis, that's just because I haven't gotten to them yet. I sometimes regret my unread pile these days. And other days I feel pride in it.
I got issues.
Merry Christmas UK anon I've just finished the download, after unpacking the cbr the actual Christmas story itself is only 10 pages, is that right? Let's have a nostalgic Christmas storytime with Transformers UK #041 [Christmas Breaker!].
I needed a new bookshelf for years. When I got a new job and moved this past year, pretty much the first thing I did was get new bookshelves. It's nice having a dedicated space my comics, though it's been taunting me with the space on it that's still free.
Good morning and a Merry start to the Christmas season /co/
Lets get this cheer started
10B505NS4SJII can be crossed off the list
My issues is that I have several shelves already, but they all full. I got one small shelf in my bedroom I could possibly use for most of the books or half my unwatched films, but then I'd have place for all my art supplies crammed into it. And no place in the living room to put them.
Gotta get my Christmas movie list prepared, thanks for reminding me.
Been thinking of doing that with my 90s Ghost Rider comics. But it seems like a daunting task with all the tie ins and crossovers and guest appearances of his from then. Probably need at least 5 volumes for them all.
I had the same problem myself earlier this year, decided to build my own Aquaman themed sunken chest longbox. Pretty proud of it.
I know what you mean. I knew my last job wasn't going to be permanent, so I kept holding off on buying shelves and had books piling up on tables.
I don't think this job is going to be super long-term either, but I took the plunge anyway on some bookshelves. My next move will not be pleasant.
Could be worse. I had to move a piano with my shit this summer.
Every place I go just accumulates more and more stuff. I sweat a third of what I unboxed was just things for my kitchen.
I use what's known as pullout boxes, they should be fairly easy to dress up or customize
I'll post the original page of this once I'm done.
And the original is even better!
Johns Hawkman is really enjoyable and he manages to finesse all the ridiculous threads of the Hawksnarl into a remarkably coherent whole.
Also lots of shirtlessness and hitting things.
Noice. Although it makes sense why they changed, who the fuck would get half-naked into their secret identity IN THE MIDDLE OF A CROWEDED ROOM.
Part of going digital was I just didn't have the space for this anymore, and if I wanted to read an issue, sometimes it felt like a hassle unless I was going to read a lot.
Sweetness. 2 of those gifts have come out of my account. Probably got another 3 or 4 in me in next week or so, then another 4 or 5 right before Xmas as last minute gifts.
Merry fucking Christmas /co/
Big love to all of you
The KALLAX might be worth considering for you and it comes in several sizes, I've got the small black square one which gets the job done for me.
That bums me out, I really like having physical stuff. I'm sorry you don't have as much space. after being gainfully employed I'm looking to move to a bigger house. mostly to store more things.
As for the hassle, I really enjoy pulling out a whole stack of bagged and boarded comics and setting them down ready to read.
A single comic I could understand though, that would be a pain.
Wow, that's incredible, so many so fast.
Here's my hat into the ring. always open to suggestions for stuff to put on the list too.
I might be in the minority but those shelves just seem so generic whenever I see them. At least real wooden shelves have the paneling/texture/etc to them, IKEA products are just cheap fibreboard.
If I had the room I would. Trust me, I would.
I use a dresser for them all. It's sad. I have no stairs unless I keep them in the hallway and I don't trust my neighbors.
When I was forced to move 8 years ago we had to downsize half our stuff. As a mild hoarder that was fucking difficult. But we made some decent money with a garage sale that helped with the move. Especially with bookshelves, televisions, etc.
I could do without the shirtlessness but I do like the hitting of things.
You're not wrong, it's just that I find that a lot of the people in these Christmas threads are big Hawkman and JLA fans and lean more to DC than Marvel. Nothing wrong with that, of course, just an observation.
If my employment situation changes, then I may revisit that situation.
It got bad enough that at times there were just things 'stacked' places just to have places to put them.
These little Peanuts hardcovers make for neat stocking stuffers
for those fan of Peanuts of course, I already own "Waiting for the Great Pumpkin" and it's of a nice quality for something fairly small in size.
I actually fixed up some cheapass bookshelves I got from Wal-Mart just by getting some cheap pineboard cut to size for the backing, sanded and stained it before nailing it in place, instead of the cheap cardboard they had before. Makes them a hell of a lot sturdier.
I pick a fellow UK lister, and look at their list. If they've got something on there that I know I've enjoyed before, that isn't out-of-range expensive? That Anon has hit the sweet spot and is getting a gift.
Yeah...I...I have that same situation right now. We were going to buy another bookshelf but, like I said in an earlier unrelated post they stopped carrying the color we already have two of.
We recently painted our entire living room and adjoining room, and I moved stuff around and found myself without a place for all my blu-rays and some bigger DVD boxes. They're currently all piled on top of those pull out boxes in my picture, and some loose comics / heavy metal mags on top of the long boxes, .... and weekly comics littering the living room right now until we buy some more sleeves/bags for them... yeah ok I might have a problem.
I got my parents this last year: http://amzn.com/0062272144
It's all about the making of the Peanuts Christmas special. It's my parents' absolute favorite Christmas show, and they really loved the book.
I kinda cheat and see everyone's lists, but like >>77806750
said I'll see something in a person's list that I really liked I'll put it in the basket for them.
I haven't fully updated the pastebin since 2:55 PM PST I was just going through doing a a purge and then I'll have it updated again.
You can pick basically however you like. I have my ongoing contests where I'll gift the winner, but then I also just browse the lists and find people who have cool stuff that I think would be fun to gift.
Amazing of course! Alex Ross is always pretty.
That's pretty pro. I don't have a workspace where I can do those kinds of things though.
yeah the cheap particle board stuff is never good to move around, I have a couple of those "media cabinets" that I'm always terrified of moving around, afraid they're just gonna shatter apart.
Had to work shit hours this week, but on the plus side that means more money I have to spare for future threads after my next paycheck.
Also requesting superior lube if anyone still has that saved.
>just things 'stacked' places just to have places to put them.
Same situation. I cannibalized draws and shoved all my novels in them. I got other draws with cds in them (I gotta get rid of those).
I get that all too well. Got random shit everywhere because I've nowhere else to keep it.
>That's pretty pro. I don't have a workspace where I can do those kinds of things though.
You can get it cut to size at the home improvement stores you pick it up from, then it's extremely easy to stain it and nail it in yourself without special equipment.
That looks sweet.
You'd be shocked how freeing it feels to just go 'click' and read any comic you own, and have space on shelves to show stuff 'off'' again rather than just have gobs of STUFF packed in.
One thing I like, if I see something neat, I can show it to someone almost instantly. Take an on screen snapshot of my phone and BAM. Instant screencap for people.
I used to read on a decent sized tablet with a nice high resolution screen, but unfortunately it died.
Luckily I have a high resolution phone, so if I read in bed without my glasses it actually looks quite nice.
Image is a screencap of a comic from my phone, just with black bars on top and bottom cropped out. Looks quite nice on the screen, even if it is a touch to small.
okay guys since it doesn't look like anyone else is storytiing I'm going to story time my second favorite superhero x-mas story
mostly because i cannot for the life of me find my first
Here is a very Daredevil X-mas
>pandering to me by showing off comic from my top wishlist entries
You're cruel. a mean mean man. I don't know, I have a lot of fun going to the conventions and comic hunting and digging through cheap bins and stuff, it's a part of what makes this hobby so fun for me.
I'm no stranger to digital, my steam library is about 560 games. but I also own about 1000 physical games too. (in the case of some PC's games they may be overlapping numbers)
But comics is a different thing for me. I already have all this infrastructure for it anywhose.
Not bad. I use the 8 inch Kindle Fire for comic reading. It's pretty much the perfect size. The tablet itself isn't great, though, since it can be buggy and freezes a lot. And you're locked into the Amazon ecosystem.
I love that feeling too, the LCS I went to at University inherited some dude's MASSIVE comic collection and put most of it up for sale in batches over a period of several months of wednesdays. Found some really cool shit there like some classic Roy Thomas JSA.
Digital's great, but nothing beats having the physical books in your hands.
I still haven't found a good LCS where I'm at. There's a really nice used bookstore with a decent comic selection, but that's about it. Most of the actual comic stores here are just MTG/models/single issues when I prefer trades.
And here's the letter page for good measure. Have a nice night everyone see ya'll tomorrow
I've got some free time, so I'll do another short.
There's a REALLY good one about an hour's drive from me now that I've moved but they don't sell old back issues like my old one did. I can find a lot of cool shit in terms of indie titles and merchandise, but not if I'm looking for anything more than a couple years old, sadly.
Happy Holidays /co/ have this cookie recipe
I actually agree with you guys. I changed my methods because I realized stuff just wasn't being read more than once, not because I didn't want to, but because it just became unwieldy.
Now shelves are for the odd off figure, really nice collection, etc.
It also means I was able to take down a number of bookcases, which just opened things up.
I haven't, but I remember someone commenting in last year's threads said the orange flavor was a little too much. Could probably cut down on some of the zest in the icing to help with that.
I like feeling of the holidays, sure there's the general sights and sounds. Wreaths, trees, and decorations everywhere and Christmas music (but working at Walmart I am getting sick of the same 4 songs that they keep playing) but there's more to it.
I remember last year the local mall played Trans Siberian Orchestra around Christmas time. Shit was cool, they had a Christmas tree outside and all. I don't know how common that kind of thing is in the States, but I live in Puerto Rico so it seemed pretty cool to me.
I read plenty digitally, and almost all my music is the same these days. But nothing beats sorting through the stuff you have, going into a store like the Salvation Army and running across an OOP gem like the theatrical cut of The Warriors on dvd or something I'd never give the time day were it not 2 bucks like My Most Secret Desire by Julie Doucet.
>I probably will never find that sweater in my size.
On Friday I hit up a shop and riffled through their discount trades and hardcovers boxes. As usual, not much changed since 4 months ago, but the few new additions allowed me to pick up George Pratt's Enemy Ace and Django Unchained hardcovers for $5 each. Can't beat that feeling sometimes.
Some much needed time off to spend with friends.
I don't feel like dying of alcohol poisoning this year.
I am not looking forward to my coming Saturdays at job B because of this. They already sprinkled it in yesterday ever third song, and fucking Popeye's was playing the damn Christmas station while I was there. Oy.
Public places in the states usually play pop versions of Christmas music or some of the really well known songs like jingle bell rock.
Well I actually asked about changing it and was told about the situation. Apparently the store didn't have any music until about 2 months ago so everyone that has been there longer is happy to have background noise now.
I'm not really into the whole church thing anymore, but Advent was always fantastic. The liturgy and music are great.
God Rest Ye Merry, Gentleman will forever be my favorite bit of Christmas music.
Who's up for a Flash Christmas?
Damn, joan doesn't mess around
good evening fellows
family, friends, cat, baking in rough order
I basically have a month home from uni because of how early my exams are and I can't wait
pic related is my cat hiding in a bunch of presents a couple of years ago
anyone else want to share pics of their pets? love me some cute animals
I don't have any pictures on me, but wrapping presents at my parents' house was pretty much impossible because of my fatass orange tomcat who likes to eat the ribbons and sit himself on all the wrapping paper and stretch out all the boxes by laying in them.
Finally off of work for the next couple days, shit's about to pop off in here!
Nice to see ya santaseid (:
Who's at the door /co/?
OHH MY GODDDDDD
ABC Family is playing Jingle All the Way right now, and I'm reminded of a special image made by a fellow from these threads last year that ties in with this cinematic beauty/travesty.
Did you know they made a sequel?
Good to see you again, Santaseid. I still have work tomorrow after a hellish day today, but I have the following 3 days off.
Fuckin Johnny Walker, good to see you again!
Relaxing for the first time in what feels like weeks, I'm not a fan of holidays these days.
And nice to see some kinds fellas storytiming still!
Ayyyy wuz gud?
Hey bud! Good to see you back.
So I'm sure mos tof you know about my love for Justice League International, but let me make a suggestion and say if you haven't read it, add some of the trades to your wishlist. You might get lucky.
oh man i am SO excited for this. i've been waiting all year. missed the past 2 years and am so hype
I think I'm going to set $50 aside and try to give 2-3 people stuff..
All hail Santaseid!
I still envy you. I haven't have 3 days off like ever.
Another name I'm glad to see return! Hey bud!
Was it JLA or JLI with the story where Booster and Beetle steal MM's cookies?
Also, they don't seem to like me much, so who knows how long I'll be working there. Oh well, one paycheck is all it'll take!
We bought my dog a Santa sweater last year and it was too big but now it fits him just right
Honestly I might have used all the stuff I know these past couples years, we could go over some of them for fun though.
No anon, you do. (;
Luckily jobs are easy to come by these days at least, so fuck one and pick another!
Hello again, friends! If there are no objections, tonight I'll be sharing with you all a classic Disney gem from the link >>77810462 provided. This is 1948's Four Color Comics #203, featuring wholesome fun for the whole family and some serious witch-on-duck violence.
Victor Hill apparently owned this issue, as is made apparent throughout.
Whew, I haven't had time to browse /co/ much until now
>all these namefriends popping back out of the woodwork
Shit, it's good to see you all back here again for another year. And all of the anons who are also returning. These threads are the best part of /co/ every year.
After I buy winter tires this is the first place my money is going to go. Hope you're all having a fantastic weekend. I'll storytime some Electric Company Spider-man and other wintery things eventually, but it looks like someone's already on that.
Harder to come by for me, but I COULD move....maybe.
Also, I have a question(for anyone, really) A couple years ago I got a soundtrack from my list, and it offered a download of it. Does that apply to all series/soundtracks/movies, or just a few?
Hey, a scan's a scan. No complaints here.
Only certain things. It'll say on the page for the album.
Hey, question. Last year someone storytimed a GL:TAS Hanukkah comic that was delightful. Did anyone save it? I lost a lot of my Christmas stuff due to careless deletion and haven't been able to recover that one. It was issue 8.
Occasionally he'll roll around the floor to scratch his body and his arm will slip out of a sleeve but he doesn't seem to have an issue with it, last year he used to chase the poof ball on the hood around
Just some good old-fashioned body horror in your Christmas story.
Wait so GL is jewish? I guess this picture makes more sense now!
I know Kyle is, thanks to one of the stories I shared last night, but I'm not sure about John.
Jewish mom, Catholic dad. I don't know how far back that was established, but it was confirmed at least in the fantastic GL issue of Darkseid War.
As an anon who storytimes as often as possible in these threads, I just share my list when I start and/or finish the story. That's more than enough attention for now. If I was trying to run giveaways or anything, I might pick a trip up for these threads.
I really like jingle all the way it has some of my favorite actors like martin mull really underrated actor, it also had jake Lloyd and phil hartman. I wonder why no one really likes it
I remember asking jake lloyd if he was sad he was not in jingle all the way 2 and he said he wanted nothing to do with that crap.
That's like a jillion dollars, thanks to inflation!
I love Hartman in it as the ladies' man of the neighborhood, but Arnold isn't exactly a perfectly cast suburban father.
>I love Hartman in it as the ladies' man of the neighborhood, but Arnold isn't exactly a perfectly cast suburban father.
how is he not the perfect suburban father who works very hard at an office job?
He's still an Austrian bodybuilder. It's the issue I have with him in most things. Like when he plays a scientist, does all of his spare time go into working out at the gym? These are the questions that define a generation.
>He's still an Austrian bodybuilder. It's the issue I have with him in most things. Like when he plays a scientist, does all of his spare time go into working out at the gym? These are the questions that define a generation.
so your dad does not look like a body builder and have an austrian accent? and neither do any scientist you know? In my life that shit is pretty common so I guess thats why its believable
And that's the end of that! Thanks for spending some time with me in the wonderful world of Walt Disney.
Dumping the only slightly Christmas related story I have.
Also this issue is just a fun read.
Dangit Anon, why did you request Speed Demon and Shocker! I always have to draw Shocker when someone asks me to (which isn't nearly enough)!
I like to imagine Yost watched Die Hard and went
"I want to write a Christmas robbery story."
