>>
I may be a faggot who refuses to read comics outside of storytimes, but that seems really out of character for Spider-Man.
>>
>>77797953
Bendis has issues with Spider-Man. When Jessica Jones admitted she had a crush on him, he called her 'Coma Girl'.
>>
>>77798022
It's rude to say out loud, but that probably would be what everyone called her back in high school.
>>
>>77798022
Peter tried to help her in Alias after the car crash.
>>
>>77797953
Bendis' Spider-Man takes the whole "speaking his mind" to another level. His mouth speaks faster than his brain can process and then he tries to justify it.

It's a take on the character, I guess.
>>
>>77798076
Need to fill those Bendis speech bubbles somehow.

are you an idiot? I don't give a fuck about squirrel girl, but giving her a serious drama qith wolverine when her character had always been a parody used to mock when comics take themselves too seriously is bendis trying to shit on her.

>>77802340
Magneto does EVERYTHING wrong. That's the point of the character, a point that's been taken from him because he was made attractive and people bought into his hype.

He is, or should be, the guy who's saying, "Yes, I understand your pain, your feelings, your aggression towards a world that doesn't understand you. But I do! Now set that mall on fire."

Magneto's the easy way out of a civil rights debate, the self righteous anger that turns into "action" that has no coherent plan outside of "break stuff to make myself feel better", the idea that the people you say are oppressing you (or more often, bystanders because you can't get at the real bastards) are less human than you, less deserving of life and safety.

He, or someone like him, is fundamentally important to X-Men and I honestly feel like the lack of a violent mutant demagogue character (Apocalypse never quite sticks as the leader of evil mutants does he.) is one of the major problems in modern X-Men. They have no guy doing it wrong to define themselves against, and all their philosophers have either gone rogue, crazy, died, or otherwise been so inconsistently written that there's no real sense of what the X-Mens's philosophy is anymore.

>>
>>77802299

>>

>>
>>77802681
No, the Penance Stare works by making the victim contemplate their sins. However, in order for it to work the target has to actually think that what he's done is wrong. Therefore, it doesn't work on people who genuinely believe they've done no wrong.
All this does is prove that Frank is fucking insane

Exactly. This is one of the reasons I'm dreading X-Men: Apocalypse. It's amazing how fast his characterization in the movies became "Eric's a good boy until provoked" as soon as Fassbender got the role. I thought Cullen Bunn's Magneto run would have at least fixed this problem in the comics, but apparently it didn't.

And, personally, I think it worked. It was neat seeing Squirrel Girl mature, and it isn't like she was "SERIOUS AND DARK, NO FUNNY BUSINESS " character, she was still largely upbeat.

Wasn't Sentry that insane Superman expy who ripped Ares in half and eventually killed himself?

Where did he land on the scale of Marvel heroes, anyway?
>>
>>77806252
What do you mean by "scale", anon?

He was meant to be a one off character that was there all along but everyone forgot, much like DC's Triumph, and was supposed to be an exploration of addiction through superpowers. But after his story wrapped up, he kept getting used as a unstable Superman whenever a powerhouse was required to the plot and ended up getting offed by Thor.

Last seen as a Horsemen of Death for the Apocalypse Twins, as far as I know.

I can't remember if Hank using Doomlocks for that is canon or not. Doomlocks are the one true form of time travel in the MU as it prevents alternate reality splits from your meddling.
It was also WOLVERINE that specifically broke time because Wolverine getting his hands on a time machine can only go wrong.
Most of the X-men's previous time shenanigans also removed entire timelines from existence yet the watcher didn't make time in his final hours of life to make personal visits to each and every single member of the X-men involved.
>>
>>77806652
He was in 'Nam. The Viet Cong weren't above recruiting young soldiers and a kid with a gun can kill you just as easily as an adult with a gun. Likewise plenty of the gang members he's put down during his days as the punisher would have been teenagers. Crime has few age restrictions.

his powers were actually narrative based.
Reality changed to make him look better anytime he needed it, his powers were fit to retroactively make him look better and better.
Thats whats happening there, The hottest girl that no one can touch is now his secret lover, even tho it makes no sense in continuity, because it never happened. He just created that.

Remember who is narrating this, its Sentry.
>>
>>77806252
>>77806483
in his original run robert reynolds gained great reality warping powers and with those he unconsciously made himself into the Sentry, the ideal of the best supehero there can be, while his fears and anxiety and insecurities formed the Void, which was far more powerful than the Sentry.
The point of the character was that all of Robert's successes came as the Sentry, but those powers came from a serum and it would have worked on anyone. Robert himself had really no credit in them, or at least he felt that way, and thus all that he achieved felt empty, Void.
But following writes have failed to understand that and have turned him into a generic flying brick.

To be fair, even during 'Quarantined Warzone' Gotham still had a cadre of superheroes, occasionally Superman stopped in, and Gordon rallying the police to STILL try and keep order.
Even some of the villains were maintaining a delicate balance.

Meanwhile, there was a period of time in Hub City where ALL the emergency services were shut off, and the whole place devolved into one massive riot, with Vic being driven around by 'Tot so that he could try and manage to keep SOME kind of peace. Solo. He spent 36 hours at least not sleeping, (possibly not eating) just driving from one fight to the next (and usually outnumbered, and without any of the cool gadgets Batman gets to bring)

I admit Gotham was quarantined for longer, but still... Hub City gets amazingly shitty.

Why are people only pointing out what Spider-Man is saying?
What Nick Fury is saying is horrible too. Not only is he claiming that being related to evil people makes you evil (how's that evil brother of yours doing Nick), but he's making it look like Wanda was an evil mutant terrorist, when in reality she hated being there and was only repaying the debt of Magneto saving her life. She and her brother went out of their way to sabotage Magneto's plans and kept shittalking him and calling him horrible to his face.

Are you one of those people that think joining the avengers automatically prevents anti-mutant riots and whatnot from happening because Wanda and Pietro have to deal with the same crap every other mutant in that universe deals with except they're nice and public so they know exactly where to go to burn down the house.
>>
>>77819624
I can think of only one story where they were shat on for being mutants. And cap stopped that with his +20 speech skills
Have any other stories where they had to deal with that while they were avengers?
Mainline stuff, not the AU stuff.
>>
>>77809342
Because you need the straight man for comedy act to work.
>>
>>77819635
House burning down, that riot stopped by cap, the actual terrorist attack on the avengers mansion (that counts more for vision than wanda imo) anti-mutant protests in general, Cap deciding to help Jarvis sort out Wanda's fan mail and discovering it was mostly anti-mutant hate speeches instead.
You're expecting her to be treated like an X-men character where the bigotry is the focus of the story 99% of the time and the characters go looking for the bigotry instances. That sort of thing isn't the focus as often outside of X-men comics. Instead it's simply there in a few panels. Most mutants don't have to deal with X-men tier troubles.

Most costumed mutants either lie about or don't bring up the fact they are mutants.
The non costumed one's without the avengers backing them get bullets beaten and sentinels sent after them.

By the way, they helped cause most of the anti mutant hysteria that they are only getting a tiny little snippet of from behind the safe gated super hero community and avengers mansion.

The rest of the mutants dont' have it so lucky.
Best part? Wanda depowered most of them leaving them without ways to defend themselves, in dangerous situations that their fucking birthright allowed and oft times demanded they use. That's not mentioning how many lives were ended because they depended on those peoples mutant powers.

They Pieotr and Wanda Maximoff are the worst things to ever happen to the mutants.
Period.
Them getting a few hate letters means fuck all.
>>
>>77820822
If you wanted sentinel attacks specifically that was during the Onslaught Saga and Avengers missions have had complications due to the fact that they would set off any sentinels in the area. (Sentinels actually do get employed for defense in ways other than to kill mutants but they have the massive problem of kill all mutants being seemingly impossible to remove without breaking the spaghetti coding that makes them effective.)
A majority of mutants couldn't defend themselves in the first place and you're acting like every mutant power is a "gift" when most of them were happy to be rid of it. There was one that didn't get depowered whom became a serial killer out of rage that he was still a mutant.
You think the mutant experience boils down to sentinel attacks and fantastical storylines about genoshan slave camps when the reality for most mutants is much more mundane than that. Then you proceed to pretend the only thing to happen to her was some hate mail. Is the only characterization of her that you've seen from 2000ish onwards when it seems to have been decided for Avengers mutants to not have to deal with bigotry or are you ignoring anything to the contrary of your opinion?
A decent portion of Wanda's early character was her being angry at the nonstop anti-mutant bigotry that came her way. What the hell is with that gated community line about her when the X-men is a team comprised almost entirely of billion/millionaires that live in a mansion at upstate NY?
>>
>>77821041
Have you honestly fucking forgotten all of the sentinel attacks and the nimrod program from operation zero tolerance?
The fact that a persons mutant power was just the ability to grow their eye lashest to be two feet long or glow in the dark means FUCK ALL.
They got wasted.
The twins got both the good mutant powers AND were protected from the worst of it by an alpha class mutant then the fucking avengers and their status as heroes.
They got off with a slap on the wrist.
The other mutants?
They get sentinal attacks and beaten to death because they have a goddamend tail.
Mundane powers?
That shit that was retconned in by morrison is mostly ignored, secondly the MORLOCKS are the mutants who got the worst of it in power type or physical mutations.
Want to know what they got when wanda had her hissyfit?
Half of them dead because they're bodies didn't have the mutation keeping them alive the other half hunted because they don't have their powers to protect them anymore.
Same thing happened to the rest of the unfortunate mutants out there.
So few turned into humans with no visible mutations that it might as well be a fucking statistacl anomaly.
As for the x-men. I was contrasting the lives of the average mutant in the mcu with the lives of the twins in the avengers mansion.
Not the x-men vs the avengers.

Johns has a long story with Batman. but he also does that to some characters he like
>>
>>77802875
Dude, no. That wasn't genocide. That was a man finally making a decision for himself, and that was one of the points of the movie.

Throughout the film, Jor-El told Clark that he would have to make a choice between Earth and Krypton. Krypton was an isolationist, xenophobic society which had become stagnant and rotten at its very core. Earth had not yet run its course. It had not yet had its 'chance'. Krypton did, and it suffered the fate it made for itself.

But by all means, keep shitposting like the small minded cretin you are.

I'll say this about Ennis: he may hate superheroes and have a huge military boner but he knows when not to shit on things.

He shat on Punisher in the end, which is a lot better then most people.

Well Batman can't adopt Barbara's method of letting criminals gang banging her in exchange for quitting crime.

If you are a super villain she lets you creampie her.
>>
Why does everyone act like Wanda's behaviour was remotely in character in hom/Dissembled and not Bendis' hate Boner showing?

Like everyone calls OOC for literally any character but Wanda, despite the fact Bendis has a history of hating her?

>>77802662

It's a decent criticism, especially when there used to be a ton of people under those disguises.
>>
>>77823465
She was stupid enough to feel remotely bad about it combined with the fact that the crappy OOC moment was forced to still exist for over a decade, the ramifications of that bullshit echoed in event after event so that we can't possibly forget it until AvsX.
If she hadn't had a forced character limbo she might had a chance but at the same time we got to see it hammered into everyone brains until there is now an entire generation that only knows Wanda from HoM forwards.
It's also part of the hypocrisy of comics. Cable turns everyone into smurfs but it's not genocide. Cable also invented an integrated Utopia about a year or two before Cyclops did yet Cyclops never gets shit on for stealing his son's idea or the fact there seems to be a running pattern with Cyclops where it's only a good idea if it's his idea and anyone else having bright ideas must be stopped.

I used to really like the Joker but now he's just edgy for the sake of being, he hasn't been compelling at all in the last couple of years.

I only like the Ledger Joker because of the performance Heath gave.

Not really. It's more that with the spread of information(usually via social media) it's alot harder to ignore that the problem is still blatantly there which brings up alot of anger.
Most don't actually have a problem with the professor X angle. It's actually the ideal choice. The problem is the use of the ideals as an excuse for inaction by the side doing the hating.

It would be like the X-men get shit on for defending themselves from a sentinel attack (How dare you destroy government property!) or calling for whatever person did the terrorist attack yet AGAIN to actually be put in jail and prosecuted. Then they get called out for not following Xavier's dream when they do attempt to follow his guidelines and get beaten attacked for it instead so that everyone can ignore what's going on tomorrow instead of doing something about the wrongs being committed.
It's not that he would be seen as weak. It's that he would be brought up like that and then everyone gets surprised when mutants respond "fuck you" and Magneto is gaining sympathy points.

not the guy but you didn't payed attention to the movie didn't you?
Jor-el all the movie spends his time talking about making Krypton and earth co-exist, and how clark was the bridge between two people, and he begs Zod to not destroy humanity, which ironic enough Clark does(but with his people).
Watch the movie again, stupid fuck, and no I don't hate MoS I find the movie an interesting interpretation of the character.
