Christmas do-over, previous thread was a dud as I mistakingly pasted the old pastebin link from last year.
Hope I can make up for my blunder by storytiming the following comic.
Glad to have you posting in these threads here too, sharing in the fun with the rest of us!
DC and Marvel's Santa Crossover when?
Just because we adopted the trappings of Germanic tribes for the holidy and date doesn't make it a pagan holiday. itms just easier to evangelize when you use symbols that the local people are already familiar with.
We still doing these?
I thought these threads were banned on /co/ like a year or two back.
Happy to see that's not the case.
Here's my own list, I might be able so squeeze in some gifting myself, hopefully.
They were a thing for several years actually and have been without them getting banned.
Best time of year. I've tried all year long to think of new Christmas contests but have come up blank... But I'll do some kind of gifting contests one way or another. Ho ho ho!
I'll put together my list at some point too.
I had no idea there would be this many pages worth of reprinted christmas stuff. Sorry if I'm bothering any other storytimers wanting to have a go.
I'm skipping out on a large part of this issue
thankfullybecause it's another reprint which was already storytimed in the first thread. >>77759415
And we have reached the last page of Marvel's Holiday Spectacular (2009). Whoever wants to storytime feel free to do so!
I'm throwing my amazon list out there again 20SQMNGX7PEYP .de
>>77772616 If you're EU I think DE works fine, I know for certain that .de and .it ships its books for free in the EU and that .de offers the option to browse their site in English by pressing the button that says In English - beta.
Yay, these threads are back! Hope everyone's been having a great year! These threads always make me glad to be a part of /co/, even if the board itself can be something of a mess at times. Love you all, and so happy to have the holiday season back once again!
heres mine, funds are tight this year, now I'm a full time student, but I'll do my best to give gifts when I can.
these threads really do instil a sense of community among us, its become something of a tradition for me and my friends and i really love it now.
It's only the second thread. I was a broke-ass grad student last year and still scrounged enough money together to give several anons gifts.
This year I'm gainfully employed with quite a bit of money I can afford to give away in December so I'm going to be hanging around these threads all season.
If I see /m/ related stuff in a wishlist I will try my damnedest to pick it up for my fellow /m/en.
Don't worry anon. It doesn't matter how, it's just nice that you're being generous and open-hearted. :)
Oh yeah protip for some people posting links, you may want to include smaller volumes and collections rather than just bug omnibus books or high-ticket items. Some people like to spread out their money by making a lot of small purchases from a lot of lists, so you may have a better chance of getting something if you have some smaller items for people to look at in there.
And we're back!
I've been looking forward to this year's Secret Santa. I plan on spreading more joy than ever before. Some people are definitely getting the omnibus of their dreams** from me this year!!
**Your dreams may vary from those of Globex Corporation, its subsidiaries and shareholders.
>sat down and crunched my monthly budget
>turns out I have about 200 extra dollars than I expected this season once I took out my bills and monthly expenses
And that's not factoring money I had already set aside for gifts and secret santa threads. I have a pretty awesome budget for gifts this year and I want to make sure as much of it goes to you guys as thanks for the generosity I was shown last year from you guys.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, ya bastards.
>That feel when all the Canadanons have gotten gifted, two years in a row.
Feels good man. Let's go for three!
Couple things for people buying stuff, you can use the secondary sellers to purchase items, and they usually a couple bucks cheaper. Last year I was able to buy 2 extra gifts for people on these lists by lowering costs just a little.
Here's my list:
If theres any UK anons wanting to post a list, get posting. I'll get gifting, but don't forget some lower ticket items; I can either give 1 person an omnibus or 5 people trades. I know which I would prefer. Cheers /co/
The one on the list has higher-priced items, and I'll happily gift him something, but I'd like to give some lower-priced anon the chance to get something too. The other fellow is me! Got some extra money I dug up so I can do some gifting back, despite my earlier belief I would be unable.
>post list one year
>get antsy a few days later
>check to see if anyone bought anything for me
>Power Girl trades were purchased
>eagerly await package
>turns out a relative bought them
It was awkward opening THAT gift up
Ho Ho Ho!
How's everyone doing this time of year?
Ah teaching... I certainly didn't make things easy on my teachers.
I would finish things quickly, not show my work, do quite well, then literally take a nap in the middle of class.
Nah it's more the kids who loudly question my authority in class and then act offended when I expect them to follow instructions that I have issues with.
In school I was the kid who snuck in books to read under my desk in every class.
My backpack was just stuffed with books and magazines to read.
One time they did a drug check and called me in because they were confused why I had so many books and magazines in my backpack (I never got an explanation as to WHY having a ton of books and magazines equated to them needing to talk to me... but whatever.)
Tried to gift you something anon, but won't let me dispatch anything to the address you provided - I will try again in the morning when I can think clearly.
Thank you kind anon! I don't expect anything, let alone the higher ticket items, but it's fun to be speculative!
While I wait for this week's new Doctor Who episode to download, I'll storytime a cute little silent Christmas comic starring the 11th Doctor and Santa Claus
Here's another short comic of the Doctor meeting Santa - This is from the tv comics from the mid 60s starring Dr. Who and his grandchildren John and Gillian
Excuse the poor scan please
Home at last from family Thanksgiving craziness. Thought up some good idea for Christmas contests, too, so I'll probably get that ball rolling tomorrow. I'll try to top the amount of gifting I did last year. And maybe even branch out from my usual Green Lantern pictures with my posts.
This is something different. See that pastebin in the OP? Has a bunch of Amazon wishlists. Pick one out, get them a gift, and then hopefully someone will do the same for yours.
Question: Last year I know there was the option with the wishlists to look and see if someone had already bought a wishlist item. I don't see that option anymore. I was going to get the ball rolling and get someone a gift, but I want to make sure it's someone who hasn't already been gifted this year.
When people gift someone they post which wishlist they ordered from here in the thread and they get removed from the ungifted list.
Elusive needs to get on the ball first though to update the list.
I missed you all so much. These threads are the reason that I still believe that /co/ is love, at least a little.
Now that that's out of the way, it's time for some more holiday cheer! Strap in your miniature marshmallows and warm your cocoa, it's time to read the DCU Infinite Holiday Special!
Amazon.co.uk has both domestic and international shipping, if the person you're sending the gift to isn't in the UK then you can't use domestic shipping.
This is only the case for private seller though, I think that amazon itself always have international shipping.
I would like to see this
And now, the story we've all been waiting for!
Who else is starting their holday by watching Frosty tonight?
Not my favorite /co/ Christmas special, really. Frosty Returns doesn't even ever use the word "Christmas."
And that's the true meaning of Christmas, folks!
I'll watch if there's a stream. Doing the cordless thing currently.
The first Frosty was kind of meh, the second one I enjoyed a little more. I'm more of a 'Santa Claus is Comin' to Town' man myself.
I'll do you one better and share the whole issue. This is 1997's DCU Holiday Bash.
Really, this issue has no bad stories. High Father Christmas will make a believer out of a person who hates the New Gods.
Don't think there is a stream, unless stream2watch has a good CBS stream at the moment.
But this does seem like a good spot to start gathering suggestions for a second annual Christmas stream. I played a few /co/ Christmas episodes last year for Secret Santa friends and we had fun.
I'm the only person who likes it, but Christmas Comes to Pacland is stunning.
I love that the Ultra-Humanite puts aside being a villain to help children on Christmas. It's like The Trickster later is JLU, they both seemed like villains that The Flash could eventually get to turn their lives around
