I would've preferred a Hal and Sinestro buddy cop movie, with Sinestro exposing his tyranical rule on Korugar to Hal, later in the movie.

What if the movie is both Lethal Weapon and Training Day in space?

You've Hal as Martin Riggs, the crazy fuck who lost his partner and want to work alone, and John as Roger Murtaugh, the new recruit who do thing by the book and was assigned to Hal in order to keep him on the line. Hal doesn't want John following him around and bossing him, and John doesn't like Hal and his way of doing things.

During the course of the movie will learn that Hal became extremely jaded because of what happened with Sinestro, his partner, who was his trainer and best bud, but in truth used him. That's why Hal doesn't trust partners anymore. This will all be shown through flashbacks whenever Hal and John fight or Hal reminisce about the past.

In the end when all is said and done and they're good friends, Hal goes alone to see something cryptic that Sinestro told him before being imprisoned. This thing tuns out to be this big cover up about Krona and Parallax. Also, you've a glimpse of Sinestro in the Anti-Matter universe amassing an army.

So you'd have your Training Day inside your Lethal Weapon. In Space.

Why do people keep forcing Metal Men into the role of Cyborg's supporting cast? The only team-ups where they'd belong are either Doom Patrol or Red Tornado/T.O.Morrow, Cyborg needs his own supporting cast instead of becoming "doc Magnus but black and shooting stuff"

I meant something more like first flight, without Hal as a rookie. The changing but constant relation between Hal and Sinestro is an important part of the mythos, I feel. Sinestro is also a far more interesting character than modern John will ever be. John always felt forced as a lead character to me.
