Whenever I heard Trank's original idea for the film was a Cronenberg-y quasi-horror movie under the guise of the F4, I fell in love with the idea.

Cape shits go hand in hand with action movies to the point that cape is just a subgenre of action, so it would've been interesting to see a cape shit movie done in the style of The Fly or The Thing.

Find something good to say about the movie? I was right. I knew it was going to suck and it did. My friend spent her money on it even though I told her not to and it was shit. She was mad because the FF are her favorite heroes and MBJ is her favorite actor.. And then on top of me being right and still having 15 dollars, I got to spend a month mocking the movie on /co/. If it had succeeded, Johnny being black would have become the new canon. 616 Johnny would be killed off again and replaced with another universe's Johnny who would be made to resemble movie Johnny. This would have 100% happened because Marvel likes their comics to resemble the movies and Marvel likes to appear progressive when it comes to race. All in the course of 20 minutes.

I honestly think up until Reed and gang got drunk movie wasn't that bad, just shallow. It had some kind of focus, character interactions and build up. The problem is that second half han't expanded on that and it rendered everything straight up dead. It's a half movie. It wouln't have been good, but I think it had potential to surpass the one with Jessica Alba and cheese. I love me some cheese, but you can't get around only with it.

Ben is supposed to be 6' tall. Michael Chiklis is 5'7". So in-costume - boot feet plus headgear - he shouldn't be much shorter than the Thing canonically is.

Have you ever read Kang's first appearance? They call back to the Rama-Tut story from Fantastic Four and made it clear he was the same person and Rama-Tut. Someone at Fox probably read it and figured out a way to prevent Disney/Marvel from using an Avengers villain.

No one expected that Kang would be over at Fox because he's generally an Avengers villain despite the Rama-Tut story and possible Richards/Doom ties.

The commercial was pretty good

When it comes to bad films I can generally play the Devils advocate and find something to praise. I can enjoy the Phantom menace when jar jar isn't talking, I even enjoyed the beginning of terminator genesis and will actually defend 1 or 2 scenes in kingdom of the crystal skull but there is not a single thing I can defend in f4nt4st4c 4

The scenes of them being experimented on have that weird sort of semi-horror feel about them, which was good.

"There is no Victor, only Doom." line worked well. Doom escaping the complex was great, too.

That roast at the end from Johnny that was funny because he and Ben were lacking the development required to view it as friendly banter so it comes off as some sort of prejudice attack towards a guy he barely knows. Made me chuckle for all the wrong reasons.
