So I rewatched this yesterday and holy shit is this superior in terms of capeshit quality. Way better than the 2008, despite what Marveldrones think. Story was a lot truer, it was a lot more emotionally aware (the moments between Bruce and his father and the revelations about their backstory were incredibly feelsy), the comic panel cinematography was great and the CGI actually wasn't too dated. Remind me why people dislike this again? After rewatching this, the MCU reboot just seems like a CGI shit fest with forced emotion.

Hi you must be new here. You can't like anything or say anything positive so GTFO!

I wasn't aware that pasta is a thanksgiving food.

The big climax made no sense because they cut two whole minutes of footage. Also, 2008 Hulk had a better Lou Ferrigno cameo.

The scene with Bana and Nolte talking it out was great

The climax made perfect sense, and cameos are notwithstanding.

>watch the deleted scenes
>they actually explain what the pseudo-science crap that transformed Bruce's dad actually was, but decided not to include it in the final movie

He had chameleon/absorbing powers - and had used starfish and mad science to create what would eventually become the Hulk - becoming electricity in the sky...especially after biting into a power line wasn't that confusing.

Haven't seen that deleted scene though

Top Three Reasons people dislike this movie
1) That one scene where Blonsky gets blown up
2) A little long in the tooth to get where it needed to be going. I mean really, nanomachines, genetic engineering and gamma radiation.
3) Gamma Dogs. Glorious gamma dogs.
>>
>>77731126
>1) That one scene where Blonsky gets blown up
That's Talbot, not Blonsky.
>>
>>77731149
My mistake
>>
>>77731149
Yeah, Talbot's death was so badly done.
They should have cut away...but nope.

>>77730585
Like it or not the movie tried to be something and had its own style, most mcu stuff coming out now is the same idiotic corporate shit

Right there with you OP, I don't think the new marvel movies are bad though, just very samey and if I am not in the mood I won't be able to enjoy them.

Still I love both Hulk movies. I also want to see a pre-abomination Blonsky styled fight between Hulk and Cap.
>>
>>77730964
It wasn't confusing at all

Oh god that was Talbot wasn't it. MCU Talbot is far superior. I wonder where he's been
>>
>>77731400
Exactly it wasnt restricted by the quippy marvel formula. Every scene with Nick Nolte was great. The bit where he talks about his wife's death with Betty was sad as fuck.
>>
>>77732055
I've heard complaints about how the fight was shot, you know, lightning strikes through the cloud, but in a "A to B" way it made solid sense`
>>
>>77732082
It was a bit trippy but I like it compared to your usual MCU fights.
>>
>>77731126
From all the episodes of the animated series and comics over the years, has The Hulk never fought gamma irradiated hulk dogs or other animals? The animated series had the hulk fight multiple A-Bomb knockoffs I remember at least.
>>
>>77732096
Same here.
Honestly never cared for most parts of the movie until I rewatched it a year or two ago. So much more sticks out now. Must be the climate.

>using one bad example over all the good ones
Also the imagery was great, like when he first comes into contact with the gamma and you see that mushroom cloud going of inside him like boom the hulk is born
>>
>>77732148
>you see that mushroom cloud going of inside him like boom the hulk is born
Which comes back amazingly when we see the complete flashback, when Bruce's mom finally bleeds out and you see the ORIGINAL mushroom cloud go boom in the distance.

His real birth.

I just remember hating the lighting do much as a kid the cgi scenes were so dark to hide any imperfections.
>>
>>77730585
>Directed by Ang Lee
this is why so many people hate it, all they think about with him is the 1998 Godzilla film
which isn't that bad
just really, really stupid
>>
>>77732526
That was Roland Emmerich
>>
>>77730585
>the only people that don't like this movie are marveldrones

>hulk dogs are a great mid movie boss fight

lol

>having the hulk's origins be a mystery to solve and involving hulk's dad was totally compelling

You were understandable, but you went full retard here
>>
>>77730585

The score is amazing and the military porn abounds

Dem Comanches
>>
>>77733534
You want to have a mystery about the government setting him up? Maybe that'd work.

Having two characters having childhood trauma about the same event so they both don't remember Hulk's origins is stupid.

So I guess it's not just a mystery I have a problem with, it's the specifics of how this movie did it.

Like the idea itself of Hulkdad being Absorbing Man isn't inherently bad, it was just really stupid in this movie.
>>
>>77732526
1. It really was that bad.
2. Ang Lee is Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Brokeback Mountain guy. Godzilla was Roland.
>>
>>77731400
>I also want to see a pre-abomination Blonsky styled fight between Hulk and Cap.
I thought they were going for something like that on the first cap movie, and i got really disapointed
They made him more awesome on WS but i still think Blonsky would stomp Cap

Thats not edward norton's hulk.
>>
It's a bad Ang Lee movie and a worse Hulk movie. Even if you ignore the Hulk material, the actual drama is awful and the themes are painfully blunt, Lee just took the easiest metaphor possible
and ran it into the ground, and while Eric Bana is an okay actor he was horribly miscast in the lead, all his inner angst and pain looked like indigestion.

The comic panel transitions were fucking embarrassing, it's clear Lee had no idea what comics were and figured if he just re-created them on a visual level like that it would count as an adaptation. It's like if someone were adapting a novel and they transitioned between every scene with a big book page-flip animation.

Only parts I liked were Sam Elliot and Nick Nolte.
>>
>>77733661
>plot device is not just one, but two characters with childhood amnesia

I had a crush on Betty Ross's actress.
>>
>>77733687

That's not Edward Norton's Hulk
>>
>>77733686
Stop using airbrush on you photos
Faggot
But yeah, Norton's is the best hulk movie
>>
>>77733740

IH is stupid but while it's not a great drama it's a pretty entertaining Hulk movie.

Ang Lee Hulk fails at both.
>>
>>77733804
>fails at both
>>
>>77733804
>Ang Lee Hulk fails at both.

The tragedy is that Ang Lee's skill as a director is apparent in several scenes, the cinematography and dialog is a cut above most superhero movies, it's just that Lee was as much in the dark on adapting a superhero as Tim Burton was with Batman in the 80's.

The technology was just not there, and the decision to have the Hulk grow larger and larger just made him look more inflated and weightless.

I consider it a fascinating misfire.
>>
>>77733938

At least Tim Burton's movies work as his insane vision. Quality as actual Batman movies aside, those movies are a blast to watch.

Ang Lee Hulk is such a fucking mess. I can agree it's a fascinating failure at least, but I can't agree on the revisionism of it being some secret misunderstood masterpiece the plebes didn't get.

>The tragedy is that Ang Lee's skill as a director is apparent in several scenes

The one I always remember is Bruce and David's final conversation in the hanger. It's such a gorgeous scene and it's in a shitty gray metal box.
>>
>>77734043
>some secret misunderstood masterpiece the plebes didn't get.

I don't get your inability to accept that it was more good than bad
>>
>>77734043
>but I can't agree on the revisionism of it being some secret misunderstood masterpiece the plebes didn't get.

Lee is rather patronizing on the DVD commentary. He's smugly aware of the Prometheus & Chronos/Zeus imagery but indifferent to why the dogs and Talbot's absolutely camp death weren't received well.

>The one I always remember is Bruce and David's final conversation in the hanger. It's such a gorgeous scene and it's in a shitty gray metal box.

Yeah, Nick Nolte transforming into a 20 foot tall burning electric god is an amazing image, and Lee lingers on it for like 2 seconds. And then they get into a weird water balloon/mushroom cloud/amoeba fight.
>>
>>77733938
Jesus Christ, no. The dialogue was fucking terrible.
>>
god that comic book panel bullshit was so distracting,
>>
>>77734134

>more good then bad

Nope.

>>77734190

>Talbot's camp death

I give Josh Lucas all the credit in the world for realizing he was in a steaming pile of shit and just playing Talbot up to 11 as the world's biggest asshole. He was basically an 80's teen sex comedy villain in an action movie, it was fucking hilarious how overdone it was.
>>
>>77734207
>The dialogue was fucking terrible.

What was bad about it?

Most of the character interaction scenes are really well composed.
>>
>>77734245
None of it sounded remotely natural and at times was so laughable it ruined serious scenes.
>>
>>77734261

The whole speech to Betty which sounded like bad pretentious lit student writing than something a real person would say, it was too impossible to take seriously.

>I should have killed
>maybe I should have killed you
>maybe you should have

The dialogue in that movie was painful to listen to.
>>
>>77734323

Hopefully they keep the booze away from William Hurt this time. He was fucking terrible in IH, he hadn't given a performance that bad since Lost In Space.
>>
>>77734332
Yeah, this is a movie that definitely benefits on rewatches
>>
>>77734364

Hurt couldn't maintain the bluster and anger necessary for Ross. He does better as a sad old man like on Humans.
>>
>>77734432

True. I love William Hurt but he doesn't have the inherent angry energy for Ross.

>Humans

That any good?
>>
>>77734332
it was the opposite for me. i liked it when i first watche but on a rewatch a few days ago i couldnt get over it.
>>
People made fun of it at the time, but making Hulk look like a soft baby was a good choice.
>>
>>77734472
>>Humans
>That any good?

Great concept where a family in the future buys a new nanny android, that might be sentient.
Hurt plays an old programmer who doesnt want to recycle his obsolete android.

The show handles small intimate scenes so well but fumbles when it becomes about bigger ideas.

i watch it just for Gemma Chan.
>>
>>77734223
Having ADD is not an excuse. I've watched it many times and not found it distracting or hard to follow.
>>
>>77734641

>>
>>77732112
>>
>>77730585
No, the 2003 film was boring, had way too much talking, and was so far up its own ass it became a Klein bottle. Talbot was an insufferable idiot, Ross constantly flipped back and forth between being reasonable and being a moron, trying to make Hulk look like the comic version and keep Eric Bana's face made him look like a baby-faced Eric Bana Shrek. Plus the antagonists we got were retarded, three Hulk Dogs and Partaking Man do not good villains make.
