The crew he worked on the job with aren't trustworthy anymore, so he comes out of retirement to make sure they keep their silence.
Thing is, with time, Roman's reputation as a criminal has faded. While the untrustworthy crew are still criminals at large. Suddenly all these criminals are disappearing and it's because of this hatted vigilante.

He gets a new rep as a badass hero, when actually he just wanted security for his retirement.

Protagonists include a very skeptical Ruby(And team?), an older Neo showing up to help out her (adoptive father?) old friend.

The thing about Roman is that he isn't all that competent. Sure, he could more than hold his own against hunters, but in the end he relied on Cinder for the planning. If your planning on giving him a GTA style heist that he preforms perfectly, I am certain that he will need to enlist the aid of another Hypercompetent lacky (If Neo is any example). This of course causes problems. If Roman is successful, than this super mook from way back when must be Don Corelone tier at the time of the story.
