Why did the Kryptonians evolve in such a way as to take advantage of yellow sunlight when their planet had none?
>>
>>77724384

Because their civilization is millions of years old and they DID have a yellow sun before.
>>
I thought it was just a weird coincidence.
>>
Other suns affect them too
>>
>>77724384
you realize yellow sun isnt magical, right? it just has different light frequencies. Kryptonians absorb sunlight to live, it's in their cells. Those organelles get supercharged in the presence of sunlight and amplify their normal "be alive" powers into superpowers
>>
>>77724512
er, in the presence of yellow sunlight*

that's why red sunlight depowers him so FAST. it's what his cells were born to absorb
It's also why red sunlight renders him much less vulnerable to kryptonite radiation, obvs the kryptonite reacts violently with yellow sun radiation or it fills a slot that gets filled by red sun, just like taking those iodine pills that block up your receptors of radioactive iodine. it's ALL about radiation of different kinds.
>>
>>77724384
I'm assuming you're retarded.

Suns change color as they get older. From white to blue to yellow to red, basically.

Our yellow sun will one day be a red sun.

Krypton was thousands of years ahead of humanity. One can pretty easily assume their evolution occurred when the sun was yellow. Or perhaps all they evolved was a way to harness sun energy, some gravity defying properties fueled by this sun energy to compensate for their higher gravity, and red sunlight merely gives them enough energy to accomplish this, while yellow or blue energy supercharges these abilities in ways not originally intended.

It's like how on a planet with lighter gravity you'd be jumping high in the air and lifting heavy stuff because the society that evolved there was heavier to compensate for that gravity.

Enterprise was garbage-tier.
>>
>>77724563
yeah but when you sun goes red you fucking die because it's also a lot fucking bigger and it cooks you
>>
>>77724582
>Enterprise was garbage-tier.

>WAH WAH WAH There was no Starfleet Captains before Kirk! WAH WAH WAH

Get over it.
>>
>>77724645
There were no ST series after it for over 10 years. The franchise still hasn't recovered.
>>
>>77724696
>The franchise still hasn't recovered.

>2 blockbuster motion pictures that made hundreds of millions of dollars and were major successes
>Franchise hasn't recovered

You people...
>>
>>77724384
Turns out that Krypton was a very stark planet, with very low nutrients in the atmosphere. All Kryptonian creatures have developed a method to metabolize electromagnetic radiation depending on their intensity, to compensate the lack of nutrients on the planet itself; They evolved to metabolize the low energy irradiated by an adult star, a red giant. When kryptonians come across a younger star like a blue or yellow star, these irradiate more energy and as such they metabolize it better.

Even ionizing radiation can be metabolized by kryptonians, but it's a little poisoning.
>>
>>77724589
>>77724589
Well the khryptonians were hyper advanced and shit so they took the extra sun bits and chucked them somewhere.
>>
>>77724718
those movies are disowned
>>
>>77724828
>those movies are disowned

No, it's the old continuity that's been disowned.

The new movies destroyed it and it can never come back because its been wiped from history.

The sooner you make your peace with that, the sooner you'll be able to move on with your life.
>>
>>77724828
By who? The series' long dead creator?
>>
>>77724962
no, he was kind of a dumbfuck too. he disowned the animated series.
as always, we're talking about fans
>>
>>77724589
Depends on how far they were from the sun. They probably had the tech to move the planet back enough. Also, a red sun has a lot less heat than a yellow sun so you have to actually stay closer to it to be inside habitability range.
>>
is star trek the next generation a 'comfy' show?
>>
>>77725414
yeah I'd say so
>>
>>77724384
>Original Star Trek
>High Tier
This is joke chart, yes?
>>
>>77725414
Very
>>

>Our yellow sun will one day be a red sun.
Isn't our sun actually white, but looks yellow here because of the earth's atmosphere?
>>
>>77725659
/sp/ has taught me that pretty much every ranking image/post is a troll
>>
>>77724384

Everyone here
>>77724452
>>77724497
>>77724512 and below is giving you accurate answers. The fact is that, essentially, all living things on our planet require sunlight (they've discovered some living organism - but we're talking very basic, single cell-type beings - that can live in the absence of sun, but they are still living in areas, such as the ocean, whose ecosystem is based on the planets interaction with our sun.

The yellow sun doesn't impact us in the same way it does in the books for Kryptonians but it's possible that other suns in other star systems might have some sort of impact; certainly other planetary systems would have distinctions from Earth, such as gravity, atmosphere, etc., that would otherwise impact the existence of any living organism from Earth that was brought there.

GET THE FUCK OUT!

Roddenberry was a huge pill popper. They basically put him in a closet after a few seasons of TNG.

That's why the first-season is so weird compared to the rest of the show - he had some strange ideas about the Federation and went full hippie.
