I'm a tradewaiter, but I bought my first floppy today. The Mignola cover was too pretty to pass up. So I'm going to storytime it! Presenting Hellboy and the BPRD 1953: The Witch Tree & Rawhead and Bloody Bones
Rawhead and Bloody Bones!
And there we have it. Fun couple of stories.
And here's the lettercol
I might do last month's issue as well later, it had some great parts
here we go
captchas are going to fucking kill me though
no problem! I love sharing Hellboy
ugh sorry captcha issues
and the shorter story
How are you Mignolaverse peeps today?
And that's it. Young Hellboy stories are comfy af
Another lettercol. Anyone /mignolaverse/ ever write in?
I know right, passed out teen Hellboy is best
Thanks for this. I love the English Hellboy stories, especially when they go to places I know. I used to live near Avebury and see the stones quite often, and now I live in Boudicca's old territory.
Alrighty folks I`m back
Presenting that classic: The Corpse
Man I love this story so much, ae are great
I love that panel with Iron Shoes flying out the window
anyhow I got stuff to do but I'll come back to do more later if y'all keep it bumped. peace and hellboy
Really looking forward to Rivera's Hellboy.
How else could he have possibly transformed into the jaded asshole we know and love?
So friends, how is your evening? How about some more Hellboy to cheer you up?
These are great, anon. Did you also do pic related? Found it in a /mignolaverse/ thread ages ago
Love you too anon. Actually, I love everyone who kept this bumped while I was gone
Fuck that hurt. I was halfway making an Enos costume as well
Alright, I know this gets storytimed a hell of a lot around this season, but it's exactly a month 'til Christmas so I thought why not. Here's...
Hellboy: A Christmas Underground
That wasn't me, but I do like that one. but I have done these in another thread some time ago. Here they are. Sledgehammer is up first.
Alright, thanks anon. I'll probably be done for the night soon
And since that ends on a sad note, here's Santa Hellboy with some holiday cheer
I don't think I've read a Hellboy comic that I didn't like. And here are buff Johann and other body Johann.
In case that person from the shelf thread is around, yes, the Frankenstein spine is shit
They even changed the font. Seriously Dark Horse?
He will be doing 1953 1-3.
I'll agree that Witchfinder vol 2 probably lands pretty low on the list but I would probably not say that I didn't like it. I could blame this on saying Hellboy comic and not Mignolaverse but that seems like a cop-out. So I will rephrase. I have not read something with Hellboy in it that I didn't like.
Also, more Rivera.
Have there been Hellboy stories where it was all a hoax in the end? I'd imagine that they had investigate a good number of those but the stories never tell about them. I think that would be an interesting change of pace.
No disrespect intended but she just looks like an old woman, not a resurrected Egyptian mummy.
If there's something I've missed and she actually now IS just an old woman, I apologise.
No offense taken. I might not have taken it far enough. But I do think that that she looks mostly like a really wrinkly old lady so that was what I pretty much went with. I did look at other people's take on her but in the end it might have been me not taking it far enough.
I'm pretty sure more of his art shows up in other volumes but not that much of it. Volume 6 has the work he did in The Bride of Hell and Others from what I understand. And In the Chapel of Moloch should be in another volume. But If you are looking for Mignola only then yeah, I think you're good.
It's all me, just depends on how lazy I'm feeling. Since I (apparently) am such a huge hipster shitposter with an "effeminate" writing style (whatever THAT means), you should be able to recognise me whether it's sticks or stix, Anon.
Oh, okay. The old, good Mummy or the shitty Brendan Fraser efforts?! Thanks for the info, though, Anon.
He's inking himself, yeah?
It's the classic one from the 30's. I've been meaning to give those classic Hammer films a watch. I've only seen the Bela Lugosi Dracula one.
I believe I read that his father is inking him.
I might give it a look. I believe I've seen a review of it some time ago. I should probably take care of Frankenstein, The Mummy, Wolf-Man and perhaps the Invislbe Man first. Maybe The Creature from the Black Lagoon.
Hellboy's sister is a Draenei?
The horns do look alike.
I guess this is the closest with the whole /ss/ vibe besides her laying on the ground later.
Whenever there's a storytime of Midnight Circus there's always a few people waifu-ing over Gamori
eh, just ignore them. You can get a bit pretentious, but don't we all. I value your contributions to discussion regardless
damn, that Dave Stewart colouring. Really nice difference between the real world and the fantasy one. Reminded me of the two artstyles in BPRD 1947 (Ba and Moon are so wonderful)
The Draenei/Eredar pretty much are the demons of the Warcraft universe. Suppose there's only a certain number of ways you can draw smoking hot chicks with horns and hooves.
There's a reason it's said that you can cross him over with anything.
His character is very... universal is probably the wrong word, but his struggle is very applicable. In the end he is just simply a nice guy who is trying to carve out his own way in life while everyone else in the world seems to think they have to tell him what to do.
>144 Hellboy & BPRD 1953 Phantom Hand & Kelpie $3.50 Dark Horse 14,247
>235 BPRD Hell On Earth 136 $3.50 Dark Horse 6,868
>254 Abe Sapien 27 $3.50 Dark Horse 5,956
Considering how universally acclaimed Hellboy is, why are the sales numbers so low ;___; I know that a lot of the fanbase tradewaits, but it's still sad.
(Yes, I realize it's basically impossible to jump into BPRD/Abe right now without reading everything else. And Abe's writing isn't quite as good as everything else. But Hellboy should still be doing better.)
Not him, but sure
my internet is a bit spotty at the moment, so bare with me.
Anybody here? What are you up to today?
Probably going to leave it if no one is in the thread lol
Would you fuck Hellboys sister?
Probably one of my favorites that isn't drawn by Mike
Absolutely love this page
I disagree, but I guess it can be difficult to make someone with an enormous gorilla jaw look like a child.
Also some of the pages have already been uploaded, sorry for the mess around
pg 25 >>77726510
This is page 27
It ends with a really nice merge as well.
What are people up to today?
I'm taking a girl out on a date, she's a vegetarian though so I'm not sure where would be best. Not sure whether to order meat either, bricking it desu
From the UK so thanksgiving isn't really a thing here, isn't it just a turkey?
Well, turkey's the main thing, but you know, it's like a Christmas dinner. You've got that main thing, like a turkey or a ham or a goose, but you've gotta have sides and stuff, and a dessert, and other people will bring food too if they're visiting for dinner.
In our case it's gonna be turkey, biscuits (the flaky dinner kind, mashed potatoes, gravy, two kinds of stuffing, pumpkin pie, and cinnamon cookies (which I believe you call biscuits).
Am I retarded or are the street names CAPTCHA completely broken?
That actually sounds delicious, how long is the prep?
Alright. Not too far from the end, anyway.
Had to subtly edit this in Paint thanks to >>77726524's duplicate file.
And we're done.
I love how this comic consistently gives me an underlying sense of dread. Like, you REALLY shouldn't be there.
And messing with a child? That's just low, half-demon or not. But then we ARE talking about hell's pawns.
Thanks a ton!
Here's a cool bit of comics trivia (if you didn't know it): Bela Lugosi was Hugo Pratt's cousin (?) or cousin once-removed--anyway they were related.
You have any info on Paolo Rivera's father? Industry vet, something like that? Cheers for info, Anon.
I know I can, totally, Anon, but thanks for the kind words, it means a lot. I was just kind of shocked at the last shelf thread how many Anon's were ripping the shit out of me (tho' a few came to my defence). Yeah, I know 4chan ain't a hugbox but since coming on here in 2010 I had never, in all that time PUT TOGETHER, experienced as many attacks as I did in that shelf thread. I'm a grown-ass man so I DID ignore 'em but some people on here just ALWAYS want a fight. Hahah I sound like a right boo-hoo!
Cheers. He didn't ink his earliest Spideystuff, though, did he?
Yeah I hoped you'd enjoy it! It's easily googled, in fact I think I might've read it on Lugosi's wikipedia entry, can't quite remember.
Damnit man, I wanna know what Hellboy's doing in Hell!
World has gone to shit, the Apocalypse is basically happening, Abe's fucked, Liz has gone Super Saiyan...but at least Hellboy is awesome. Really pulling for that guy.
Also thanks for ze storytime.
Dark Horse Presents 016 (Son of Ultron-Empire)
Kinda looking forward to this. But Mignola won't be writing it.
