The funny thing is it's really not that hard. With the exception of Nedroid, neither this comic or Whomp are really laugh-out-loud hilarious..

I think the reason /co/ hates most web comics is a combination of lack of effort on the part of the artist, with the addition of being a complete fucking douche on social media.
Ronny has really improved over the years, he took criticism, he never lashes out as his fans like Buckley or Jeph Jacques do, Mary-san even shares our disgust of Aaron Diaz, who is probably one of THE biggest dicks on social media.

I think as long as you put a decent amount of effort (read: more than fucking none at all) and don't act like a child, /co/ at the very least won't hate you. The fact that /co/ hates so many web comics is more a testament to the state of web comics and their authors than anything else.

Let's Speak English is, objectively speaking, a cute but rather uninteresting low-maintenance webcomic. But the thing is that it doesn't pretend to be anything more than "mildly amusing thing that happened to me today," so that's fine.

But when you get stuff like Diaz, Buckley, Jacques, Campbell, Dobson/Preston/CattyN, and so fucking forth. who may or may not make good webcomics (I actually like some of Diaz' stuff, for example), but who think that having pictures on the interweb makes them important people who deserve to be heard about a whole load of dumb crap and won't hesitate to whine about it either in their comics or on social media.

I mean, look at someone like Kate Beaton. When her comics were just silly strips about historical figures and nothing else, most of /co/ loved her. But when she started going on about feminism both in her comics and on twitter, almost everyone started to hate her.

It's a form of collecting. Lots of people do it, and in almost every case it's completely pointless. It won't bring you wealth, it won't bring you health, you just do it because it's fun.
I collect guitars. I have spent probably more than 10.000$ on guitar shit since I was 15. I'm not a professional musician, so it's really just for my own enjoyment. It's not quirky at all.
